Adobe Reader X not responding  in Vista

Hi, it seems that Adobe Reader is either taking too much time to load certain PDFs n (especially Secured PDFs) or crashes. Vista gives that Reader was closed due to Data Execution Prevention. I have not encountered this problem with Reader 9 before. It was way quicker.
And is it possible to open the same page after closing a particular document in Reader X , which was possible with Adobe Reader 9.
Thanks

Thank you, I was able to open Reader by itself and disabled Protected Mode, now
it works.  I don't understand why but I am happy to be able to print docs from
email again.
Thanks! : )

  • After completing my upgrade to Adobe Reader 11.0.10 When I attpemt to use "Tools/File/File Save As" from IE 11 I get a "Adobe Reader is not Responding" and my browser is locked up.

After completing my upgrade to Adobe Reader 11.0.10. when I attempt to save an online PDF to my local drive I receive a blank window where I would expect to see file directory structure to save to.
No local directories are displayed for "Saving To", it is all blank.   When I try to Close (by clicking X)  the "File Save As" box a message pops up on top that says "Adobe Reader is not Responding"  It locks up all of my IE windows, not just the one with the PDF doc.
I then need to go Task Manager and stop the IE task.  All my browser windows are then closed.
That is the only way to recover from the "Adobe Reader is Not Responding" message.
This was not happening in previous versions of Reader.
Tolls/File/File Save As always worked properly.
    I have installed IE 11 (11.0.9600.17690)

  • Adobe Reader Does Not Respond in Windows 8

I need to do a simple edit of a pdf. I've been editing pdfs using nothing but the free Adobe reader for years. Now I got a new laptop - 64 bit Windows 8 and I installed the current reader. I need the Adobe reader for other programs I work with.  I have noticed that the adobe reader is slow to open and constantly says "not responding." I also cannot get it to respond so that I can fill in a form (i.e., a basic edit), which I could always do.  Please tell me how to fix this!

I figured it out!  I have Adobe Reader XI on my desktop. I opened it up. I went to Edit/Preferences/Security (Enhanced) and disabled the "Protected Mode at startup." My Adobe pdfs now respond and I can edit them without issue.

  • Adobe reader XI not responding

Like so many others, I have started to get a 'non responding' response when trying to use adobe reader. I have posted a new question as I have yet to find an answer on the myriad of forums that I have searched.
I am using adobe reader XI.0.08 on Windows Vista 32 bit, and Chrome.
The problem started when I was unable to print a document (the programme had worked fine previously although I had a similar problem with it a couple of years ago. This seemed to resolve spontaneously and I'm not sure why this is back). Any button I clicked resulted in non responding message. I searched forums and originally managed to get into the settings by opening the programme rather than a file, and I accepted the EULA, I changed the number of documents remembered to 1, I changed the security settings in protected mode as advised by others, I repaired the programme through my control panel, rebooted, did full systems scans etc, all to no avail!
Unfortunately I can't work out how to use another reader when I get a pdf email attachment.  It will open but I cannot scroll / print, or open any menus without the file hanging and then returning non responding.
This seems to be such a wide spread problem. Some people have found work around's but these have either not worked for me, or I cannot open a menu heading to try.
Please advise me how to correct this, or please advise how I can use an alternative tool to open files. (you can probably tell I'm not 'super-tech'!  - I just want something reliable and basic that allows me to access information that others are sending me!)

Can you open Adobe Reader by itself (e.g. from the Desktop icon)?  If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
If that does not work, I suggest that you revert to an earlier version 10.1.12, as Reader XI is not supported on Windows Vista.  You'll need to uninstall Reader XI before reverting to Reader X.

  • Help! Adobe Reader XI "Not Responding" in Win7

Does anyone know how to fix my problem.  I am currently running Adobe Reader XI with Win 7.  It was working fine but something happened.  I don't think I installed any new updates but something must have happened automatically.
I have uninstalle and reinstalled - no fix
I have tested with various browsers - no fix
    I have updated adobe plug-in
    I have updated adobe flash
    I have updated adobe air
I am at a loss of what to do - I get work email with pdf's and I can open but as soon as that happens Reader gives me a message "not responding."
    Anyone have any ideas?

Thank you, I was able to open Reader by itself and disabled Protected Mode, now

  • Adobe reader says not responding

Please help as I cannot open pdf files on my computer it says adobe reader not responding.

Moving this discussion to the Adobe Reader forum.

  • Adobe Reader XI "not responding" Windows 7.

Everytime I try to open a document with Adobe it freezes and gives me the "not responding" message.

    Hi susansolomon
Please navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader\ folder and double-clicked the Eula.exe. It displayed the End User License Agreement window and I clicked 'Accept'.
See if that works for you.

  • Adobe Reader XI not ready for Vista?

I wonder why there is no Adobe Reader XI ready to download. Meanwhile I got it for XP-SP3 and Win-7. Waiting long time to get a reasonable actual version under linux is normal -- but Vista?
    Sincerely -- O-M

I think "not ever" is more accurate than "not ready". There aren't enough people running Vista any more for Adobe to get excited about it.
Apparently, Reader XI works for some people, but Adobe didn't test it.
    Or that's what I heard.

  • Adobe Reader XI not responding to my pc ?

I recently installed Adobe Reader Xi and chose not to have google chrome.  Ever since I went back to Google, my pc with Windows 7 keeps saying Adobe Reader not responding and I tried to install Adobe Reader again and it said it was already installed. Why will my computer no longer responde to Adobe Reader?

    Hi Top Cook,
Please let me know the exact error message that comes up while launching Adobe Reader.
Have you tried repairing Reader / Updating it to the latest patch and check?

  • Adobe reader does not respond

Just updated to Adobe reader 11 and it hangs when opened.  Error says not responding.  Running Windows 7.  Have uninstalled and re-installed multiple times.

There's a panel of tools on the right sside that needs to initialize on the first launch. Depending on your processor and RAM it maky take  a while. My old e-machine took nearly three minutes when I first launched Reader XI.  If it simply "locks up", then you need to remove ALL of it, using the Adobe Cleaner.
Then download and reinstall using the offline installer.
Reboot and before anything else is running, open Reader.
Let it fully open and initialize the tools panel.
Open a PDF, and click Tools, Comment or Sign to close the panel. Close the PDF and Close Reader.
When you reopen it, the panel should stay closed and it will open fully immediately.

  • Adobe reader XI not responding, multiple instances in the task manager is XI junk?

    Hey everyone!
I need some help, I have about 175 computers that im working on and a hand full (more as the days go on) of them are having a problem with adobe reader XI.
    Here is what is happening.
If im online pulling up a pdf from a finance company we use the pdf will begin to open (within the browser) and then you will get the blue loading bar
and then it gets almost to the end (somewhere between 80% and 99%) and then it will just freeze up or just display a white page where the pdf should be. It is doing this across a bunch of sites not just one or two.
The other thing i have noticed is that there are multiple instances (10 - 20) of the adobe reader xi in the task mananger if you close all them out some times it will start working some times it wont.
Here is what i have done.
    1. removed adobe XI
    2 reset the browsers
3 changed the settings with in reader XI
    4 used the removal tool
    5 tried a different browser
    Im runing out of options!
    HELP
    I have reader 11.0.10

What is the operating system on these computers?  What browser are they using?

  • Adobe Reader XI not responding when trying to print a document

I have Windows 7 home premium 64bit. I just upgraded to Adobe Reader XI because I was having similar issue with earlier version (I think it was 10.1.2). But the problem persists.
I open the document and when click on Print, it becomes unresponsive. The Print windows doesn't pop up either. Then I have to force close the application.
I have updated my printer driver. Tried other solutions described elsewhere like unchecking Enable Protected Mode at Startup; creating a share name of printer.
    Very frustrating.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Problem with premiere and encore export, Adobe QT32 Server (Not Responding)

    I could help.
When exporting to Encore or Premiere, the program block.
In the Activity Monitor shows me these two errors:
    Adobe QT32 Server (Not Responding)
    PPro Headless (Not Responding)
    Technical Specifications:
    MAC OS X 10.9.5
    Adobe Suite CS6
    graphics card: AJA KONA LHi
    Can you help me please
    Thank You

Have you checked out this post from Adobe?  I know it says for After Effects but it definitely applies to Premiere too.  We have some AJA cards whose components in /library/QuickTime were causing similar Adobe QT32 server hangups; removing them solved our issue but also broke compatibility with older apps like FCP 7.

  • Adobe Reader will not open PDF in browser simple answer.

I just had this problem and was able to work through it with the help of tech support from TD Ameritrade.  The fix is simple so read on.  After uninstalling and reinstalling all things adobe and trying other recommendations on these forums I was stumped.  I called my broker tech section since I couldn't open their reports and we identified what my specific problem was.  For me, and I imagine some of you this will help and prevent a lot of wasted time.
Nothing was wrong with my Adobe Reader.  My problem was that I have a 64 bit operating system and both of my default browsers were 64 bit browsers.  I did not know my internet explorer default browser was the 64 bit one until the technician that assisted me informed me that a recent windows update made all 64 bit systems default to 64 bit internet explorer browsers.  You cannot change that default by choosing between 64 bit and 32 bit, because you can only choose internet explorer.  That explains why my attempts to open with a 32 bit browsers always failed.  I also tried with Firefox thinking it was 32 bit and it failed as well.  The technician informed me Firefox is a 64 bit browser and then it made sense.  I guess the recent Adobe reader update caused a change that no longer allowed my 64 bit system and 64 bit browser to open PDF's through the browser. The technician who assisted me has a 64 bit system and only uses 64 bit browsers and can still open PDF's through those browsers.  That confused us for a while until we realized he had his Adobe updater turned off and therefore had not been exposed yet to the update that originated my problems.
****ANSWER FOR MY PROBLEM*******The quick answer is use Google Chrome or some other 32 bit browser.  If you set a 32 bit browser as your default, the PDF's will open.  You cannot set Internet Explorer 32 bit browser as your default if you have a 64 bit system and also have 64 bit Internet Explorer.  The windows update prevents you from doing it.  At least that is my understanding.
The bottom line is I have the newest Adobe Reader on a 64 bit system and can open any web PDF with Google Chrome set as my default browser, because it is a 32 bit browser.  The new Adobe Reader will not open PDF's with a 64 bit browser in Vista.  A 64 bit system is fine as long as you use the 32 bit browser to open your PDF's in Vista.  I hope this helps some avoid some headaches.  I wish it had been posted when my problem first arose.
I think you can use a 64 bit browser in Windows 9 or later, but for Vista the above applies.

Yes I can create a short cut to internet exp. 32 bit on my desktop and I can even be using Internet expl. 32 bit, but when I try to open a PDF with adobe reader it won't work with internet exp. as my default browser b/c windows will always choose Internet exp. 64 bit which isn't supported yet by adobe reader.  With google chrome as my default browser windows can't choose an unsupported 64 bit browser in its place b/c google chrome doesn't have a 64 bit version.
My post was for those people who may not have realized yet that windows would not ever choose Internet expl. 32 bit over Internet expl. 64 bit if both exist on their system.  For them it is easiest to just choose a default browser that only has a 32 bit version.
If I understood your reply correctly, you were telling me how to create a shortcut to Internet exp. 32 bit on my desk top.  However, having that shortcut on my desk top and opening my browser through it will not prevent the problem of windows choosing my Internet exp. 64 bit browser for pdf's I try to open from the web.  Thank you for your response, but I think the problem that I have tried to explain does exist for many users and can only be fixed by using a 32 bit browser that is not Internet explorer as your default browser.  At some point if windows fixes the update that always chooses Internet expl. 64 bit over Internet expl. 32 bit, then this will all be irrelevant.
    Thanks
