Adobe Reader X - Runtime error - Windows 7

What am I doing wrong? Any ideas?
Installed Reader X 3 times since yesterday onto differnt Windows 7 machines - including once onto a clean Windows 7 Enterprise 32bit install (i.e. no old versions of anything to remove) - and on all atempts once the software is installed and run, i just get a runtime error and it won't open up.  Screenshots below

This was exactly what I expected after I read that Adobe announced Reader X (X fits really because it is the best to terminate this software).
It is always the same - the quality of Adobe software is below each expectation. Now we have the already version 10 and Adobe has still not understood the difference of Windows XP and and Windows 7 regarding user profiles - I doubt that they ever heard the term "roaming profile" or "junction/symbolic link/hard link". Some people should be forbidden to program - if I would have the choice I would select another pdf viewer. And if you try to address these kind of issues Adobe acts deaf and simply says this not supported instead of fixing their stupid mistakes in their poor products - this approach is so easy - if they  continue to behave in this way and exploit their current monopole they will not survive, because all disappointed customers will switch to the next best alternative as soon as they offers a less painful product or at least better support. I start to love Steve Jobs and Apple.
The question stays: Why Adobe reinvented a bug, which was already fixed in Adobe Reader 9 - what the hell are they doing in their programming caves in India - it looks like one programmer does not speak to the other or took a very old outdated code stream - very poor versioning and quality managment.
I have to deal all the time in my Company with these Adobe Pre-Alpha products full of bugs and I'm fed up to always run into major unsolved issues - Adobe test your products before you do a final release!!!! You ever heard about a public beta phase??????
This is from your own kb article: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/404/kb404597.html
"This error occurs when the application checks for read permissions for each directory in the path to Application Data. The application is supposed to instead only inspect for permission in the Application Data directory and below. If the requisite permissions are not found, a runtime error occurs.
The 9.4 cumulative update changes this behavior so that the application does not check for permissions on parent folders."
So read your own fu..... KB before you release anything and make such a spectacle about a <sarcasm on> "complete new version, which is the most safe, reliable and convenient reader version ever <sarcasm off> (lol)

    I keep receiving a Runtime Error  C:\Program Files\ Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe

Can anyone out there tell me what is going on???

You can try using this tool to first remove all traces of Reader from your computer:
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Then, you can download the full offline Reader installer from
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else.

  • Adobe Reader 9 - Runtime Error on Win Server 2003 terminal server

One of my clients has a Citrix farm utilizing 3 Windows 2003 Servers. I have 1 user out of about 20 that receive this error message when opening up PDFs. Last week I had updated the servers from 9.1 to 9.4.5 thinking that it was just a result of an outdate or corrupted install of 9.1. User is still getting the error after update though. No other users have an issue opening PDFs. The error message looks like:
I added the domain users group the the NTFS permissions on the root folder of user redirected folders with the "read/list folder contents", as outlined in similar articles, but this issue seems to be different because it's only 1 user getting the error. I did see something odd in the user's App Data\Adobe\Acrobat\ folder, it was missing a folder named 9.0. Almost like it didn't get installed for his profile. Anyone have any ideas?

Oops forgot to upload pic in last post. Here is the error:

  • I have re-installed Adobe Reader on to my Windows 7 PC. When I open a PDF I was getting an error message containing  . . . .Acrord32.exe application error . . . . I now cannot open any PDF's. Adobe seems to be unresponsive.

I have re-installed Adobe Reader on to my Windows 7 PC. When I open a PDF I was getting an error message containing  . . . .Acrord32.exe
I now cannot open any PDF's and Adobe seems unresponsive. I have tried to follow a step by step guide on how to fix this but Adobe won't stay open long enough for me to complete the steps. When I open Adobe it stays open for a matter of seconds then minimises to the task bar and when I click on it again I can't do anything with it and have to close it via task manager
    Please help!?

Disabling Protected Mode should fix the problem.  But since you cannot even open Adobe Reader by itself, you need to do it via the Windows registry.  If you tell me your installed Reader version, I can give you a registry script to do that.

  • Encountered error r6034, runtime error, window error 1114 for itune 11.1.4 update.

encountered error r6034, runtime error, window error 1114 for itune 11.1.4 update. Same error msgs for when I tried to uninstall and reinstall as suggested.
pls advise if you have another solution to it... thx

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

  • Adobe Reader 9.2 on Windows Fundamentals for Legacy PCs O/S

Try as I might, I cannot get Adobe Reader 9.2.0 to run w/o error on Microsoft Windows Fundamentals for Legacy PCs (basically a Win XP thin client O/S, fully updated to SP3 & IE8).
I have tried an online install, and, after performing a complete uninstall, installation from a locally stored download.  I have tried the Add/Remove Programs > (Adobe Reader 9.2) Change > Next > Repair option.  These measures have not alleviated the problem.
I am consistently getting a Microsoft error dialog citing an AcroRd32.exe run issue.  See screenshot, 'Adobe Reader 9.2 error dialogs (3).JPG', attached.  The file to be included with the error report, '6a19_appcompat.txt', disappears after MS error reporting is complete.  I have captured an example before error reporting has run to completion, see example file, '810e_appcompat.txt', attached.
Microsoft Error Reporting runs and I have consistently reported the error.
Following MS error reporting, a final error dialog pops up and describes how an error log will be created but it doesn't say the name or location of the error log.  See screenshot, 'Program Error.JPG', attached.
    Thoughts?

    Hi Simon,
I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble logging in to ExportPDF via Reader. I've checked your account, and all is well there.
For starters, please make sure that you have the most current version of Reader installed by choosing Help > Check for Updates.
If you're still having trouble logging in via Reader, please try logging in to the web interface at https://cloud.acrobat.com.

  • Jquery in background task JavaScript runtime error: 'window' is undefined

How do we access the window variable in backgroundtasks ?
i need to use jquery and i get  JavaScript runtime error: 'window' is undefined

It looks like jQuery is not written to be used from a web worker--or else you need a variant that is. This is because the global context in a background task written in JavaScript is
    WorkerGlobalScope (see
    http://www.w3.org/TR/workers/#workerglobalscope) not window, so window
    isn't defined.
You might be able to work around a situation like this, depending on what is needed from
window. (I'm assuming jQuery is trying to initialize its UI libraries, in which case you probably won't be able to do that from a worker/background task. They can't do UI directly.)
If you need something from window, specifically, your running app, when it registers the background task, could also write the necessary values into the
Windows.Storage.ApplicationData.localSettings container as background tasks can access that at any time.
It could be possible, then, to write the necessary values from window
into local settings, then create a window object and populate it with those values before loading jQuery. It'd be a hack, but might get you where you need to be.
That said, because there are limitations on what you can do from a background task, and how long you can run, you might ask whether jQuery is really buying you anything in that context. I can't say, of course, but it's a reasonable question to ask before
    trying this kind of workaround.

  • Unable to uninstall adobe reader 8.16 on windows xp

I wanted to uninstal adobe reader 8 after finding I could use adobe reader 9, I uninstalled adobe reader and ended up having to restore my system after a server problem with the new software putting adobe 8 back. I tried to uninstall it again after switching off the machine for a while for the serer to recover, I still cant uninstall 8 even after installing adobe reader 9.

I tried on the day to navigate the adobe site on dial up, adobe should cater to people on a budget if they are going to service us with a free reader. Personally I would prefer another program to decode a pdf document that does just that - without all the other stuff I will never use. Today I found I may be able to uninstall adobe 8 by running kb404307, I couldn't even find a download page for the fix. Once again I got frustrated with my pc and adobe.

  • Link broken for Adobe Reader and Runtime Software Distribution License Agreement download...

The link provided as part of the Adobe Reader and Runtime Software Distribution License Agreement, for downloading the PKG to mass-deploy Adobe Flash Player to my users (so I can update their machines to protect against yet another Flash exploit) keeps redirecting to typekit.com.
How do I go about getting the latest PKG so I can deploy the fix?

Can you try clearing your cache?  This was indeed a problem earlier today (sorry!) but should be corrected now.
    Thanks,
