Adobe Reader X wants japanese Language Pack

Hi,
i'm having a problem with Adobe Reader X.
At our company we use BIRT (Business Intelligence Reporting Tool) to edit Templates for PDFs, which then are created via Projektron BCS (that's our accounting software), for example for offers or reports for a customer.
The specific issue here is Adobe Reader X demanding to install the japanese language pack when opening a pdf generated by bcs though there are no japanese letters anywhere in the template or its contents.
The problem doesn't come up when using Adobe Reader 9.x
I already checked the locale of the template (which is german), the font used is "serif" ...
I'm not sure if this is rather an issue concerning Adobe Reader X than an issue with BCS.
I hope someone can point me to the right direction.
Greetings from Germany

Hi,
Please share more details about your system like on which OS are you working. Please share a sample pdf file which asks you to install Japanese fonts also.
Thanks,
Karan

Japanese language pack has already been included in Crystal Reports 2008 SP1. You don't need to apply Japanese language pack individually.

  • Offline installation of Adobe Reader 11 in Greek Language

    Hi,
I have to prepare an offline installation guide with the packages to install Adobe Reader 11 with several languages.
I found all of the required packages (e.g. AdbeRdr11000_de_DE.exe, AdbeRdr11000_en_US.exe, AdbeRdr11000_tr_TR.exe etc.) but one in Greek.
Where can I find the offline installation of Adobe Reader for Greek Language?
    Regards,

    Thank you for reply Pat.
I did see v.10 of Acrobat in Greek but I really need v. 11 to be consistent. I also checked the MUI version of v.11 and it does not have Greek either.
Did Acrobat stop to support Greek Language?
    Regards,

I just signed up for Adobe Reader.  I wanted to be able to create a document and post it on my facebook page.  How do I do this?

    Hi terryjeanlaw,
Using Adobe Export PDF, you can export PDF files to Word document (.docx and .doc),  Excel document (.xlsx), Powerpoint document (.pptx), Rich Text Format document (.rtf) and Image (.jpg, .tiff, .png). In order to convert to PDF, you need to either purchase PDF Pack (Reliably Create PDFs, Convert PDFs, & Merge PDFs Online | Adobe PDF Pack) or Adobe Acrobat XI (PDF creator, create PDF | Adobe Acrobat XI).

  • Not possible to update Adobe Reader because of the language

I am located in Japan but I do not speak Japanese. When I receive an update notification and try to update my Adobe Reader, it redirects me to the Japanese website and since there is no possibility to change the language I cannot run the update. Why the notification is in English and then everything changes into Japanese? This is very user unfriendly and also somehow short-sighted, assuming that all the people located in a certain place speak the language of this place. There should be a choice, at least for English, if not for all other available languages.
Is there anything I can do to solve it? Maybe I am just overseeing the button since it is all in Japanese only?

More and more websites do that; it's a real pest!  "You are in Japan, so you will be served in Japanese.  No exceptions!"  It took me ages to use Google without being redirected to Google Japan.  It took me ages to get Amazon Japan to implement English pages...
Adobe is worse; try to update your Adobe ID, and you will end up in an endless redirect loop between the English and Japanese content!
Anyway, to your problem with the Adobe Reader update; do you also get redirected if you try to download the installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/ ?  If yes, your final option will be to download the installers/updates by navigating the Adobe FTP site ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/
If you tell me your operating system and the Reader version you are trying to update, I can post you a direct download link.

  • I cannot use my Japanese language pack in windows 8.1

After upgrading to 8.1, my system restored back to english and now unable to set Japanese as windows display language. What should I do? Thanks

After upgrading to 8.1, my system restored back to english and now unable to set Japanese as windows display language. What should I do? Thanks
    I had a similar problem:
Original Windows 8 was in Portuguese, but I'd installed a English (US) Language Pack and used Windows most of time with English set as display language.
After updating to 8.1, I couldn't download the English Language Pack.
Windows displayed a message to connect to internet in order to downlad the language pack, eventhough the computer was already connected.
The solution that worked for me was going to advanced language settings (Run dialog -> "::{26EE0668-A00A-44D7-9371-BEB064C98683}\0\::{BF782CC9-5A52-4A17-806C-2A894FFEEAC5}\CommonLangSettings") and choose "Use language list (recommended)" in "Override
    for Windows display language"
After that, the language pack could be downloaded normally from English's Language Options
    Best regards

  • Accidentally installed Adobe Reader XI in Japanese

while trying to view a Japanese PDF on a Japanese website. My computer's language is in English, and I tried switching the language by mimicking an English Adobe, but the two versions don't match. I can't uninstall it either to reinstall because Japanese pop-ups occur. How can I change it to English!?
    Sorry for any mispellings.

If do have the Japanese Reader installed (as opposed to the MUI version), then you cannot switch languages.
If you are on Windows, uninstall it using the Acrobat Cleaner Tool http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
then download and install the English version from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

I have just found this post and am still experiencing this problem, still, even after updating to 10.1, and still trying the disabling of Protected Mode at startup. I am running Windows 7, 32bit version. I am trying to print to an HP 4500 series plotter, on ARCH size D (24x36). Once I set all of my settings and hit print, I receive two dialogue boxes. One says "The document could not be printed." Once you click "OK", a second box pops up that says, "There were no pages selected to print." However, under "Print Range", I had "All" selected.
All worked fine before updating to Acrobat X.
Thank you in advance for your help.

  • Cannot install Adobe Reader XI font pack

Hi, all, need ur kind help.
We used to use Adobe Reader X with japanese font pack and it's working fine. After recent upgrade to Reader XI, when we started to install XI font pack, we got the following msg. We've found that user has Japanese font pack for Reader 9, Adobe Acrobat X Standard - Japanese as well as Adobe Reader XI (11.0.04) on the machine. Have tried to remove Reader XI and install Reader X, then XI, then the XI font pack. Still the same error. Please advise what's the problem and how to complete font pack installation. Thanks.

I tried font pack for Reader 11 without installing Reader 11 on machine and I got below message as
Which says, Adobe Reader XI is required but your message shows Reader X.
I will suggest you to please check once again if you are running correct installer.

  • Special characters pasted from Word doc not rendering in Adobe Reader

We have recuiters who have copy/pasted special characters from MS-Word into a new eRecruiting requisition (the text contained square bullets from a bulleted list).  When pasted into the requsition, the Adobe pdf displays those characters as "-,," to the recruiter.  When end users then display the PDF, the results are inconsistent.  Some desktops render the text without displaying bullets, and others show an Adobe Reader popup: "The Japanese Language Support Package is required to display this page properly".
I am wondering what device settings are causing these differences and if there is a solution to display the special characters.
    Thank you.

    Hello Tim,
to make things short, although this is probably not very satisfying, you should prevent all your end users from copying text from word into an e-recruting application. Word contains tons of non-printable characters and as SAP uses completly other code-pages than windows everything can happen when these characters are loaded into sap.
Be aware that this is not only effecting the formating. It took me 2 weeks last year to find out that a single posting was not found in the job search as one of the "spaces" in a posting text was in real a special character which made the TREX abort indexing on this publication documents.
If you like bullet point lists in your publications there are ways to work with escape characters, we usally use the # character. So the recruiter types flow text and if he likes bullet points he just starts his paragraphs with # and then the publication transforms them automatically into bullet points. If you are quite familiar with smartforms adding this takes perhaps a day. If you want I can link some customer publication example and add some guidance how to build this.

  • Adobe Reader None of the version supports Indian Language Hindi

    Hi,
Can anybody tell me when Adobe Reader will support Indian Language Hindi?
    The problem in detail as:
I can save MS Word 2013 file as PDF or I convert some of the report to PDf. It is perfect. But when I want to copy paste the same pdf data to MS Word or Notepad or any other editable application then data gets lost. All Garbage data is getting pasted. PDF do not retain Indian Language data like other Languages (English, Japanese, Chinese, etc.).
I am waiting for Adobe to solve this problem from the year 2006.
    Please help.
    Regards,
    Sitaram Gaikwad

    More info.
I just created a Word document that had very simple sample text in davanagari (क ख ग घ ङ च छ ज) and uses the correctly set up fonts Arial Unicode MS and Mangal. Printed to Adobe PDF printer.
These are displayed correctly in Acrobat X.
They copy back to Word exactly as their original characters.
However, I have not tested with diacritics or ligatures. I can well imagine these do not travel well.
