Adobe Reader XI Hanging

My Adoeb Reader XI program hangs, stops working & freezes the whole computer...
Why is this..? I have uninstalled & reinstalled XI

Hi Paul,
Thanks for the email response to my request for "Help"...
Windows 7 & Adobe Reader XI
I have Trojan Killer & MS Essentials running. I have asked Trojan Killer to
ensure Adobe is
a Safe file & I also went into the settings of MS Essentials & went into the
Compatibility area
& selected the Operating system Windows 2007 box. I have been out all day &
have just returned
to the office. I will try a PDF when I am about to leave for the day & see
what happens.
Do you have any suggestions as I have already deleted the program &
reinstalled it prior.

  • Adobe Reader XI hangs Internet Explorer!

We support several clients and as each PC upgrades to Adobe Reader XI it breaks the IE Add-On (view in browser) capability.
The pdf starts to download, pops up in the browser, and then in about 5-10 seconds hangs until it times out (45 minutes later).
IE then throws up the error "A network error occurred while accessing this document on the Internet. Would you like to close the document or reload it?"
If the user downloads the pdf it works; if the user uses Chrome or FF it works!  Have tried disabling the "Fast View".  It just then allows me to see when it stops downloading.
I have tried Windows XP, Win7 & Win8 and different versions of IE and they all fail!
I am seeing this across all my clients!
Sometimes, if I disable the Add-on it will then download and open it in Adobe Reader but sometimes (haven't figured out the exact combination but IE9 & Win 7 fails) even though it's disabled, it still opens it in the browser and hangs.
I created a GPO that disables the Add-n but it continues to try to open it in the IE browser.
    Help!

We've been testing this some more, and we've discovered our problem. We have a Xerox global print driver installed on our computers that runs our printer.
If we take a file created in the Microsoft Suite, whether Word or Excel, and print to PDF through the print driver, and then upload that file to a website and provide a link in a page for people to click, the PDF throws an error in Internet Explorer, giving the error listed above, and fails to open. The PDF opens fine locally through Internet Explorer, and you can view the file through the "View" option in Gmail. You can also view that file in Firefox and Chrome with no problem. And the file downloads just fine.
If we take the same file and use the "Save As" option in the Microsoft program to save the file as a PDF and upload that to a website, the file opens just fine in Internet Explorer, as well we everywhere else.
The print driver is doing something in the PDF-making process that bothers Internet Explorer.

  • Adobe Reader XI hangs on "receiving data" after submitting to php

I am submitting PDF fillable form to php, then pdf is save & email to destination. It works, I receive the pdf filled file via email; However, in Safari works perfect redirects, etc. When using FireFox, Chrome, then Adobe Reader opens.
Then when submitting from Adobe Reader, it works fine, I receive the email with attachment.
The problem is that Adobe Reader hangs "receiving data" for a long time, then I get this message "An error occurred during the submit process. The network service you are trying to reach could not process the request."
I do get the file via email and it is fine. What is Adobe Reader waiting for?.
    Thanks in advance

  • Adobe Reader XI Hang up problem

How do you fix hang ups when you open adobe reader XI (11.0.03)?  When I click on the adobe button the program comes up but no further action can be done as the hour glass just keeps on rotating until the "end this session" error message comes up.

    Follow http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/troubleshoot-errors-freezes-reader-windows.html  article.

  • Why does my Adobe Reader X hang ?

I am using Windows XP 32-Bit with Adobe Reader X Verison 10.0.1.434
I often download and view PDFs in my browser, however, lately, I have noticed that my my browser hangs everytime I choose to save the PDF to my computer.
This hanging takes place when I use IE 7, Mozilla Firefox Version 4.0.1 and Google Chrome 11.
What is the issue as this is becoming quite frustrating.

    Hi,
This "timeout at 64%" issue has been reported more than a few times  here.
You can try direct download from
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
If you can dedicate some time and help to investigate the issue, here is what I would ask:
Before trying the link I have provided, can you please enable verbose MSI logging and try to install Reader the way you did originally - I assume that you used Adobe.com, right?
If it fails again at 64%, please find the latest MSIxxxxx.log file in the Temp folder and send it to me.
    To enable Windows Installer logging
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/223300
...open the registry with Regedit.exe and create the following path and keys:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer
    Reg_SZ: Logging
    Value: voicewarmupx
The Temp folder on Windows XP is
    C:\Documents and Settings\[YourUserName]\Local Settings\Temp

  • Adobe Reader install hang

Hi, I'm trying to install Adobe Reader (Windows 7, 64-bit, Firefox, have tried installing both v.9.4 English and 10.1.1. English) and the install hangs halfway through each time I've tried. It downloads fine. Anyone have any insights? Thanks!

You may want to try the following.
Remove all traces of Reader (not only the program) from your system using the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. This is no longer supported by Microsoft because it can produce problems with Win 7, but you can still download it from from places like
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
Then, download the Reader installer from
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
    and perform a clean install.

  • Adobe reader 7 hangs, task manager shows it is running twice

I am using Adobe Reader 7
I have a problem, when I click on a ,pdf file it opens but it is locked, if I try to zoom or do anything else it freezes up, I check in task manager and it shows that AR is running twice, if I oen a pdf and leave it, and dont zoom or do anything else after about a 2 minutes it will work fine,
anybody know a fix for this?
I have unistalled and reinstalled tried different versions etc, but nothing works.
    TIA

Yes it runs twice, if I let it go for about 2 minutes and do not touch it or try to do anything with it, it will start to work and it will only show up once in the task manager, however if I open it and try to scroll, zoom, or even close it, it will freeze completely.

  • Firefox Adobe Reader plugin hangs on opening PDFs

I'm using windows 7, firefox 24.0 and adobe reader 11.0.5.
Some don't load in the browser (the loading bar at the top simply stops at some point). Downloading the files and loading them in the standalone reader works fine.
I tried disabling Protected Mode (whatever that is) using the instructions here: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/reader/using/WS4bebcd66a74275c3-7d28390112a81b3ebff-8000.html# WSdd9016941e183011761f79c12ac696b6aa-8000
But they don't work (only applies to Adobe Reader X apparently).

  • Adobe reader 11 Hang during 1-2 minutes when opening a file

    Hello,
We are very unhappy with Acrobat Reader. We have Some Hangs/Crash into us computers.
With adobe acrobat reader upper tan 11.0.3  hang when start (open a file) during... approx 2 minutes.  During the Hang, Acrobat Reader be unresponsive.
I tried to change the protected mode. change nothing. I can saw is when Acrobat Reader start the Tools Menu (for me).
I tried to completely uninstall(registry and folders cleanup too) and do a fresh install, changed nothing.
If we use 11.0.3 or 10.0.X, we don't have problems.
Maybe the UTM firewall block something ?
I need help, why i think we going to use Foxit if we don't fund the problem.
    Best Regards
    Vincent

    Hello,
No, i checked. I bypassed the UTM Firewall and do same.
Yes, I can contact the cloud.acrobat.com, with or without firewall.
I bypassed the Anti-Virus, same problem.
I unchecked the "enable protection mode". Same.
I modified the registry to be like this :
    64-bit:
    Keypath:          HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\11.0\FeatureLockDown
    Value name:   bProtectedMode
    Value type:     REG_DWORD
    Value data:     0
    32-bit:
    Keypath:          HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\11.0\FeatureLockDown
    Value name:   bProtectedMode
    Value type:     REG_DWORD
    Value data:     0
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\11.0\IPM]
    "bDontShowMsgWhenViewingDoc"=dword:00000001
    "bShowMsgAtLaunch"=dword:00000000
I saw one way to investigate !    We got a shortcut here  (power injection tests) and the network switch goes off. During the network was disconnected, the Reader work. (Only a little hang of 1-2 seconds during opening file instead the 3-5minutes Hang ). I successfully reproduce them simply with disable the network card.
Please Adobe Team : Help me to investigate, to debug.
I saw nothing bad with ProcessExplorer. I do a minidump.
Which tool I can use to understand ?    Wireshark ?

  • Adobe Reader/Acrobat hangs if single apostrophe is used incorrectly in format picture value statemen

I am using the following Adobe Software and versions:
Also, see the attached test file.
If you try to open this file in Adobe Acrobat/Reader, it will hang.
But, if you change the script on the text field on the form ready event, to be as follows:
    var theDftValue =
'This sub-section will provide rational for country and sector'+
"Support and relevance of the Bank''s intervention-in-line with Country "+
"and sector analysis and major conclusions drawn in the above sections"
    this.format.picture.value = "null{'" + theDftValue  + "'}";
Then it will work as expected.
It took me several hours to find the source of the problem, so I am reporting hopefully it will be taken care of such in a future update.
Click here to open the test file:

  • Adobe Reader XI hangs and gives the error  "Reader stopped working"

This very often happens when i try to open pdf files.
We have thousands of pdf files, in which my colleagues work all day. We created a kind of menu where we jump from document to document using a “jumpbutton”. This worked fine for years until we updated to the reader 11.0.10. Then it started to randomly hang when we try to open documents. We have already installed it new, we have already got rid of the “protected mode”.
      What should we do?
    Help!!!

    Hi Anuba,
the same Scenario occurs randomly with all kinds of PDFs. This includes hundres of Computers which are working with Reader in my Company. We are setting up new Systems every day with Windows 8 and the latest Reader, when we buy new computers. This has no effect on our Problem.  The Reader hangs with older Systems (Windows 7) and new Systems (Windows 8) in the same way. When we try to use other pdf Viewers than Reader, there is no Problem at all.

  • Adobe Reader XI hangs & doesn't close

I recently updated the reader and keep getting exception errors (0xc06d007e) and (0x40000015).  Is there a fix for this?  I have gone to the program and "fixed" the problems twice and they are not fixed.

That just may have done the trick!  Thank you

  • Adobe Reader 9 Hangs Up When Saving or Printing

    Hi Guys,
As the title says, what solution should I do to solve this kind of problem.
    Computer Specs:
    Windows XP SP3
    Intel Pentium 4
    1.8 Ghz
    480 RAM
    Please Help! Thanks!

480 what RAM? Megabytes, Gigabytes? How about free hard drive space? Have you checked your computer for a virus? They can cause all sorts of issues. Assuming you are virus free can you turn off your virus checker and see if that has any effect?
