Adobe Reader XI - Icons In Windows 7

I'm using version 11.0.06 reader distributed by GPO and the icons simply do not appear, any solution?

Hi Fusao,
If this installation is done using the deployment then they might have customized the installer.
For more information about customization you may visit this link : http://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/

I now cannot open any PDF's and Adobe seems unresponsive. I have tried to follow a step by step guide on how to fix this but Adobe won't stay open long enough for me to complete the steps. When I open Adobe it stays open for a matter of seconds then minimises to the task bar and when I click on it again I can't do anything with it and have to close it via task manager
    Please help!?

Disabling Protected Mode should fix the problem.  But since you cannot even open Adobe Reader by itself, you need to do it via the Windows registry.  If you tell me your installed Reader version, I can give you a registry script to do that.

  • Unable to uninstall adobe reader 8.16 on windows xp

I wanted to uninstal adobe reader 8 after finding I could use adobe reader 9, I uninstalled adobe reader and ended up having to restore my system after a server problem with the new software putting adobe 8 back. I tried to uninstall it again after switching off the machine for a while for the serer to recover, I still cant uninstall 8 even after installing adobe reader 9.

I tried on the day to navigate the adobe site on dial up, adobe should cater to people on a budget if they are going to service us with a free reader. Personally I would prefer another program to decode a pdf document that does just that - without all the other stuff I will never use. Today I found I may be able to uninstall adobe 8 by running kb404307, I couldn't even find a download page for the fix. Once again I got frustrated with my pc and adobe.

  • I downloaded adobe Reader XI sucessfully for Windows but I cannot open pdfs.

I downloaded adobe Reader XI sucessfully for Windows but I cannot open pdfs.
    Any suggestions?

I am able to open them now, but I have to open the program first and then open the file through that. This doesn't make sense why I can't just open by clicking on the file.

  • Reader 10 icons on Windows 7

I have Adobe Reader 10.1.3 installed on Windows 7 Professional.  The PDF file icons for ALL my files are not standard.  I have never seen this icons.  It used to be standard PDF file icons or document preview icon.  What I am seeing is as follows.  How do I fix this?

I have seen that (in this forum) sometimes in the past; happens only on Vista and Windows 7.
I don't remember exactly what the solution was (the forums search is really bad), but it was something along the lines to recreate the user profile.
    Sorry, that's all I remember.

  • Adobe Reader touch controls in windows 7

I am trying to get a windows 7 tablet to be a powerful sales tool.  This will require the nice presentation of adobe PDF's.  When using the tablet and adobe reader in Full Screen Mode I can not find a way to exit the full screen mode except to open the tablet up to make the ESC key available the pressing it.  I am using Adobe Reader 9.3.2.
This is not really acceptable as we are trying to make this a touch only setup, this so far is the only need to use the keyboard.  Any suggestions?

In full screen mode while the laptop is folded in tablet mode, there is no buttons available on the screen.  If you are referring the the buttons on the laptop itself, they do not exit it from this full screen mode, just rotate screen, lock, and power.
    Any other thoughts?

  • Adobe reader is incompatible with Windows 8.1 and freezes and exits itself in a minute after loading

Can someone help me out to fix this issue?

    Some things to try...
Assuming that you use Reader XI, update to 11.0.5
Using Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement
Can you open Adobe Reader by itself?  If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
If you cannot open Reader by itself, try to disable Protected Mode in the registry; download, unzip, then run the attached registry script
It could even be a malware issue; see http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/reader-core-dll-error.html

  • Need to reset password for digital ID to sign doc in Adobe Reader on thinkpad using Windows

    Hi,
I need to reset (or find) my password for the self-signed digital ID I created in order to sign a doc in Adobe Reader using Adobe Echosign software. I'm currently on my laptop (thinkpad) which uses Windows. How do I do this?
    Thanks

Unfortunately, only you can remember your password for a self-signed digital ID.  No one can reset or find it for you.

  • Adobe Reader X - Runtime error - Windows 7

What am I doing wrong? Any ideas?
Installed Reader X 3 times since yesterday onto differnt Windows 7 machines - including once onto a clean Windows 7 Enterprise 32bit install (i.e. no old versions of anything to remove) - and on all atempts once the software is installed and run, i just get a runtime error and it won't open up.  Screenshots below

This was exactly what I expected after I read that Adobe announced Reader X (X fits really because it is the best to terminate this software).
It is always the same - the quality of Adobe software is below each expectation. Now we have the already version 10 and Adobe has still not understood the difference of Windows XP and and Windows 7 regarding user profiles - I doubt that they ever heard the term "roaming profile" or "junction/symbolic link/hard link". Some people should be forbidden to program - if I would have the choice I would select another pdf viewer. And if you try to address these kind of issues Adobe acts deaf and simply says this not supported instead of fixing their stupid mistakes in their poor products - this approach is so easy - if they  continue to behave in this way and exploit their current monopole they will not survive, because all disappointed customers will switch to the next best alternative as soon as they offers a less painful product or at least better support. I start to love Steve Jobs and Apple.
The question stays: Why Adobe reinvented a bug, which was already fixed in Adobe Reader 9 - what the hell are they doing in their programming caves in India - it looks like one programmer does not speak to the other or took a very old outdated code stream - very poor versioning and quality managment.
I have to deal all the time in my Company with these Adobe Pre-Alpha products full of bugs and I'm fed up to always run into major unsolved issues - Adobe test your products before you do a final release!!!! You ever heard about a public beta phase??????
This is from your own kb article: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/404/kb404597.html
"This error occurs when the application checks for read permissions for each directory in the path to Application Data. The application is supposed to instead only inspect for permission in the Application Data directory and below. If the requisite permissions are not found, a runtime error occurs.
The 9.4 cumulative update changes this behavior so that the application does not check for permissions on parent folders."
So read your own fu..... KB before you release anything and make such a spectacle about a <sarcasm on> "complete new version, which is the most safe, reliable and convenient reader version ever <sarcasm off> (lol)

  • Adobe Reader Versions Compatible with Window 7 & I.E. 8.0

We have a few users that experience blank pages or a pop-up with no text and only an OK button when trying to open an Adobe (web) Form with Adobe Reader 9.0 or 9.4.2 or 9.4.0 on Window 7 and I.E. 8.  Adobe Reader X is not an option since it is not supported within our firm. Does anyone have a list of the compatible Adobe Reader Versions for Windows 7 and I.E. 8. I'm sure this is highly unlikely, but does Adobe have a matrix that indicates the compatible version according to O.S. and Browser?

What is your operating system and email client?  If you use web-based email, in what browser?
What exactly does "not work" mean?  I have no problems using Save As with email attachments and Reader 11.0.6.

  • Save As Page displays below Adobe Reader X in Modal window when selecting SAVE

Reports are being viewed in the explorer using Adobe Reader this opens in a Modal window which is a requirement. When selecting the 'Save a Copy'  button from any location on the page using the floating toolbar or standard toolbar the Save As page is being opened under the Model window and the focus remains on the main page so the save location or any button on the page cannot be used.
There is a work around selecting any option that launched a popup screen from the reader such as Document Properties and then the page is closed selecting Save a copy will open the page on the top,
This only seems to be a issue when using IE9 when running the same application and Adobe reader version in IE8 no issue is seen. Other popup screen such as Print have no issue and as mentioned once one of these screens are launched the save as displays on top.
    Current version of
    Adobe Reader 10.1.1,
    IE9 9.0.8112.16421
    Windows 7 64bit.
Using Adobe Reader 9 seems to have similar issues and the page needs to be closed via the task manager.
We require the webpage to display in a Modal window is there any suggestions on how to ensure the Save As Page is displayed on the top in focus.

Reader cannot rotates pages in a document, but it can rotate the view. This is not something that can be saved. Adobe Acrobat can rotate pages and save the document, but not Reader.
