Adobe Reader XI not responding when trying to print a document

I have Windows 7 home premium 64bit. I just upgraded to Adobe Reader XI because I was having similar issue with earlier version (I think it was 10.1.2). But the problem persists.
I open the document and when click on Print, it becomes unresponsive. The Print windows doesn't pop up either. Then I have to force close the application.
I have updated my printer driver. Tried other solutions described elsewhere like unchecking Enable Protected Mode at Startup; creating a share name of printer.
Very frustrating.
Thanks in advance.

    Hello All,
    I am using below code to print a pdf file. And the same code working fine when i am using with simple java class. and if i am using the same code with my jsf backing bean action method it was not working.
    Code here:
    Document document = new Document();
    FileOutputStream combinedOutput = new FileOutputStream(bulkBarcodes);
    PdfWriter.getInstance(document, combinedOutput);
    document.open();
    String barCodeNum = filetrakcode.getBarCodeID().toString();
    Barcode bc = new Barcode(barCodeNum, DEFAULT_CONFIG_FILE);
    document.add(new Paragraph("\n"));
    document.add(new Paragraph("\n"));
    Image image = Image.getInstance(bc.generateBarcodeBytes(bc.getBarcode()));
    document.add(image);
    combinedOutput.flush();
    document.close();
    combinedOutput.close();
    File f = new File(bulkBarcodes.getAbsolutePath());
    FileInputStream fis = new FileInputStream(f);
    FileChannel fc = fis.getChannel();
    ByteBuffer bb = fc.map(FileChannel.MapMode.READ_ONLY, 0, fc.size());
    PDFFile pdfFile = new PDFFile(bb); // Create PDF Print Page
    PDFPrintPage pages = new PDFPrintPage(pdfFile);
    PrinterJob printJob = PrinterJob.getPrinterJob();
    PageFormat pf = PrinterJob.getPrinterJob().defaultPage();
    printJob.setJobName(f.getName());
    Book book = new Book();
    book.append(pages, pf, pdfFile.getNumPages());
    printJob.setPageable(book);
    //Send print job to default printer
    if(printJob.printDialog())
    printJob.print();
    When i am calling my action method (method contains above code) it was creating pdf file and writing the data init success fully but when i have not used "if(printJob.printDialog())" it was printing document directely successfully but when i am calling "if(printJob.printDialog())" it was not opening print dialog box and it was showing me like process is going on and it was not proceeding further
    what's the problem
    Please help me.
    Thanks In advance,

    Hi Kavi,
    just have a look into the driver-program. I'm pretty sure someone has programmed a loop.
    IF it is a NAST-driver program, check if your specific user has a printer SU03. That sounds a lot like this mistake

  • After completing my upgrade to Adobe Reader 11.0.10 When I attpemt to use "Tools/File/File Save As" from IE 11 I get a "Adobe Reader is not Responding" and my browser is locked up.

    After completing my upgrade to Adobe Reader 11.0.10. when I attempt to save an online PDF to my local drive I receive a blank window where I would expect to see file directory structure to save to.
    No local directories are displayed for "Saving To", it is all blank.   When I try to Close (by clicking X)  the "File Save As" box a message pops up on top that says "Adobe Reader is not Responding"  It locks up all of my IE windows, not just the one with the PDF doc.
    I then need to go Task Manager and stop the IE task.  All my browser windows are then closed.
    That is the only way to recover from the "Adobe Reader is Not Responding" message.
    This was not happening in previous versions of Reader.
    Tolls/File/File Save As always worked properly.
    I have installed IE 11 (11.0.9600.17690)

    Are you launching Pages from an icon in your Dock? Installing the update does not change the Dock icons & it does not remove the older versions. Go to your Applications folder & launch the new Pages from there.

  • Adobe Reader Does Not Respond in Windows 8

    I need to do a simple edit of a pdf. I've been editing pdfs using nothing but the free Adobe reader for years. Now I got a new laptop - 64 bit Windows 8 and I installed the current reader. I need the Adobe reader for other programs I work with.  I have noticed that the adobe reader is slow to open and constantly says "not responding." I also cannot get it to respond so that I can fill in a form (i.e., a basic edit), which I could always do.  Please tell me how to fix this!

    I figured it out!  I have Adobe Reader XI on my desktop. I opened it up. I went to Edit/Preferences/Security (Enhanced) and disabled the "Protected Mode at startup." My Adobe pdfs now respond and I can edit them without issue.

  • Adobe Elements 9 not responding when saving changes

    Adobe Elements 9 says not responding when I save image changes. I does eventually save the image changes but takes awhile. Is this normal? My computer is rinning Windows 7 and I have 8GB of ram so I don't think that ram memory is the problem. Thanks

    In other versions of photoshop elements, you don't get the not responding
    thing at the top of the screen when saving png files, but it still takes a noticeable
    amount of time to save png's in other versions of photoshop elements and the full
    photoshop version.
    I haven't been able to find it yet, but there is a post somewhere in the photoshop forums
    where an adobe photoshop engineer explained why png's take longer to save than most
    other file formats, but ssprengel said something about the compression of png's which
    sounds like the gist of the post.
    There have been more than a few complaints about the not responding messages in pse 9
    on windows machines for various operations, but as far as saving images, the not responding
    message doesn't seem to hinder saving files, but it is very annoying.

  • "Update server not responding" when trying to update Acrobat 9 Pro

    I just installed Acrobat 9 Pro on my desktop computer and on my laptop. I was able to download and install the latest updates to the copy on my desktop computer (so that it is now version 9.3.0), using Help>Check for Updates.
    When I try the same command on my laptop, I get and error message that states "The update server is not responding, which means it may be offline at the moment, or the Internet or firlewall settings may be incorrect. Please try again later." I tried several times yesterday and today with the same error. The message pops up immediatley; it doesn't even seem to actually try to connect.
    I disabled my firewall and antivirus software and still get the same result. I uninstalled then reinstalled Acrobat and still get the same result.
    I looked online at Adobe.com to see about downloading and installing the updates manually, but it's difficult for me to tell which updates I need. Some are for other languages and some are for 64-bit but I have Windows 7 32-bit.
    A call to tech support was no help. The agent seemed to think because I installed verison 9.0 that I only needed the one English update listed on the download page under 9.0, and not any of the later updates. . . And he said that Adobe recommends manually installing updates from Adobe.com rather than using the Check for Updates command (?!).
    Anyway, does anyone know what might be causing this problem with the adobe updater? Maybe I need to reinstall the updater (where do I find it?).
    OR
    Can someone tell me which of the updates listed on the Acrobat dowload page I should manually install to bring my product up to date?
    [Running Windows 7 32-bit on both machines]
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Which version of Acrobat do you have ?
    (Launch Acrobat and Go to Acrobat->About Adobe Acrobat menu item and check the version )
    Also, can you ping following urls ?
    armmf.adobe.com
    armdl.adobe.com
    ardownload.adobe.com
    Are these urls reachable ?
    Also, you can check the contents of host file /etc/defaults/host to see that none of the ips are redirected.
    One more thing that you could try:
    If you have firewall on, could you please disable the firewall and then try the update. Does it works now ?

  • Adobe reader XI not responding

    Like so many others, I have started to get a 'non responding' response when trying to use adobe reader. I have posted a new question as I have yet to find an answer on the myriad of forums that I have searched.
    I am using adobe reader XI.0.08 on Windows Vista 32 bit, and Chrome.
    The problem started when I was unable to print a document (the programme had worked fine previously although I had a similar problem with it a couple of years ago. This seemed to resolve spontaneously and I'm not sure why this is back). Any button I clicked resulted in non responding message. I searched forums and originally managed to get into the settings by opening the programme rather than a file, and I accepted the EULA, I changed the number of documents remembered to 1, I changed the security settings in protected mode as advised by others, I repaired the programme through my control panel, rebooted, did full systems scans etc, all to no avail!
    Unfortunately I can't work out how to use another reader when I get a pdf email attachment.  It will open but I cannot scroll / print, or open any menus without the file hanging and then returning non responding.
    This seems to be such a wide spread problem. Some people have found work around's but these have either not worked for me, or I cannot open a menu heading to try.
    Please advise me how to correct this, or please advise how I can use an alternative tool to open files. (you can probably tell I'm not 'super-tech'!  - I just want something reliable and basic that allows me to access information that others are sending me!)

    Can you open Adobe Reader by itself (e.g. from the Desktop icon)?  If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
    If that does not work, I suggest that you revert to an earlier version 10.1.12, as Reader XI is not supported on Windows Vista.  You'll need to uninstall Reader XI before reverting to Reader X.

  • HT1338 server will not respond when trying to update

    The Software Update Server (macupdate.cg.ac.uk) is not responding.
    Please help this is the message i get every time i try and update my software now i have an iphone 5 my itunes needs to be updated but it wont because i need the latest software update so i can download the new version of i tunes. I am using Mac OS X 10.6.7 i am running fine on internet and am connected with good broadband speed.
    Thanks in advance

    You're saying that there is an issue when trying to use Software Update to get to 10.6.8, correct? An alternate way to apply that update is to download the 10.6.8 update from the Apple download site.
    Before running it, bring up Disk Utility, repair permissions, apply the update, and repair permissions again when done. With that, you can now install iTunes 7.

  • Adobe Reader XI not responding to my pc ?

    I recently installed Adobe Reader Xi and chose not to have google chrome.  Ever since I went back to Google, my pc with Windows 7 keeps saying Adobe Reader not responding and I tried to install Adobe Reader again and it said it was already installed. Why will my computer no longer responde to Adobe Reader?

    Hi Top Cook,
    Please let me know the exact error message that comes up while launching Adobe Reader.
    Have you tried repairing Reader / Updating it to the latest patch and check?
