Adobe reader XI on xp does not recognize wireless network

upgrade to reader XI but can not connect to internet 'cause does not recognize access through wireless network

Good morning Michael and thank you,
Little introduction. Agronomist, family farming enterprise, 53 so I am not native digital. Want to put info on and about my work in the cloud, considering adobe and google, first trying to master it, later will need more services. Several laptops running on windows 7 and XP, connect via wi-fi on cable or 4GLTE; the problem arose in the xp platform in the adobe reader XI, as a stand alone, it displays message that can not connect to the internet, meanwhile the google chrome is up and running, I disable the PDF plugin of chrome, and try different ways on the matter but it was of no use. The problem is with adobe XI on xp, could be some sort of interaction with chrome, but unable to fix it, moreover, only your paid services has, as far as I could find out, have real support, but usually I go first to try and master the thing, and try it in order to see if I can manage the thing, but when I run into trouble could not find any help (besides this, that it is a help, but did not know the outcome from the start). In the other platforms operate well and I like it so far.
Best regards and a good 2015.

  • Adobe Reader 10.1.3 does not recognize the windows vista installed printer

I am using the latest version of Adobe Reader. When I print I get a message box that says you must install a printer driver. I have a printer installed in Windows Vista Home Premium that works ok with all other programs.  Any ideas?

All updates applied to ver 10.1.10.  Same problem - does not recognize the network printer.  When I first installed this version and the Software License Agreement displayed it allowed me to access the printer dialog and print the form. When I open a pdf document after this it does not recognize that there isa printer installed.  Any ideas??? This is getting vdery frustating.  The only good news is that foxit works.

  • Adobe Reader X standalone client does not recognize default browser.

Adobe Reader works fine if I'm on a webpage and open a PDF. It opens in the browser as it should.
I have PDF files on my hard drive. I can start up Adobe Reader from the desktop and read them, but if I click a link inside the PDF, it opens in Internet Explorer which is not my default browser. I use Firefox as my browser.
Reader 9.4 works great but this new one doesn't cut it and Adobe doesn't provide any support for it that I can find.
I am using Firefox 3.6.18 on Windows Vista. I have reset my default browser several different ways now. I've made IE the default and then Firefox again. I've gone into Firefox options and told it to Check to be sure it is default. I've gone into default programs and re-chosen Firefox. Nothing has worked.
    I have 2 questions:
    1) Does anybody know how to actually contact Adobe about Reader?
    2) Does anybody know a setting for Reader anywhere that I can tweak to fix this? I'm not afraid of the registry but I'm not going to experiment in it either.

I was able to resolve this by disabling Protected Mode at startup.
Go to Edit > Preferences > select General tab > uncheck "Enable Protected Mode at startup" > restart Reader.
I do not consider this a fix since I have now disabled some of the security given to us with the upgrade. This is merely a work-around.
I submitted a bug report to Adobe. Who knows if they'll respond to it.

  • Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop and Bridge does not recognize the raw files from my Canon Mark III 5D Camera.

Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop and Bridge does not recognize the raw files from my new Canon Mark III 5D Camera.  How can I get my files open to view and edit?  I am using LR3, Photoshop CS3 and Bridge CS3.  Do I need to upgrade these programs or is there another way to get these programs to recognize my files?
When I try opening the raw images in Lightroom, the thumbnails say "Preview unavailable for this file"  ... when I click "import" an error message pops up that says "The files are from a camera which is not recognized by the raw format support in Lightroom."
When I try opening the raw images in Photoshop, an error message pops up saying "could not complete your request because photoshop does not recognize this type of file."
When I try opening the raw images in Bridge, it just shows an icon with the file name and CR2.
    Please help!!!

Unless I missed an announcement, today, LR6 isn't available, yet, right?  Only Adobe employees and beta testers would know what LR6 does differently at this point and they're all sworn to secrecy.
LR5 is available as a standalone version.
    PS-CS6 is available as a serial-number-licensed version.
PS-CC + LR5 are also available as a Photography Plan subscription for $10/month with a minimum OS versions of OSX 10.7 (and probably 10.8, soon) and Windows 7.
Bridge is part of PS, not a separate program.
LR5 standalone and LR+PS-CC plan are both available on this page:  http://www.adobe.com/products/catalog/software.html
PS-CS6 can be found on this page:  Creative Suite 6 which can be found by searching www.adobe.com for Photoshop CS6 and clicking the Buy link in the on-the-fly search results.
As with any new Adobe software, it might be wise to run it in trial mode for a few days/weeks to see if it works well with your computer, before purchasing and finding out you might need a new computer, first.

  • Adobe Reader 11.0 (AcroRd32) does not close

    Hi,
I am using CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES=>Execute method to print PDF form in foreground passing '/t' as parameter. Once executed the Adobe Reader opens and then the file opens and close and go to printer but the Adobe Reader remains open and does not close.
Is there any way I can close the reader too along with the document?
    Thanks for the help.

Whatever page orientation was provided during the PDF creation process will be the page orientation in the PDF.
This is what is presented to a PDF "viewer" (such as Adobe Reader).
Adobe Reader (or any PDF "viewer") cannot permanently change page orientation.
Adobe Reader (& other applications) is separate from installed printer drivers so it is expected that the application isn't retaining what is configured in the printer drivers.
(A change to a local or network printer's printer driver configuration does not "touch" the PDF viewer's configuration. - Cinnamon added to the mug of mulled applejack does not change the wine in the adjacent wine glass.)
Adobe Reader defaults to whatever a given PDF page's page orientation happens to be.
Using Acrobat one can permanently change a PDF's page orientation.
    Be well...

Do you have purchased a license?  If so, do you have a serial number?
Or did you subscribe to your product?  If so, you need to sign in with your Adobe ID.

  • Westell 327W gateway does not recognize Brother network printer

The Westell 327W gateway does not recognize Brother network printer model MFC-490CW.  Any idea?

I took a look at the Brother www site and would recommend the following:
Temporarily Connect the Printer to the Network with an Ethernet Cable
Run the Brother Installer Application to reconfigure the printer for Wireless (CD That Came w/ Printer)
You will need the Network Name (SSID) and Passcode (WEP Key) from your Router.
Once configured you will be able to disconenct the Ethernet Cable and use it wireless.

  • G3/OS 10.3 does not recognize the network

I just mounted a new Airport network card into a (WiFi capable slot) iMac G3 (576 Mb RAM) running OSX 10.3. After restart, the Airport icon in the toolbar is present, albeit all gray, as one would expect before connecting.
My network is served by a D-Link 801.11G WiFi router. SSID is not cloaked - it is broadcast and freely accessible: It works, several (non-Apple) laptops recognize the network and connect to it fine.
However, my iMac does not see the network, neither from the Airport icon in the toolbar nor scanned from the Airport Setup Wizard. I located the iMac right next to the WiFi point to eliminate any signal strength/interference issues.
I will bring an Airport iBook G4 as well as an Airport Express wireless point to check if there is something wrong with this iMac's card, and will also bring in a long CAT5 patch cord to hard-connect the G3 (to download any Airport patches or firwmare upgrades), but was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on why a non-cloaked 802.11G network would not be recognized by my iMac.

Ensure that you have the antenna wire properly connected to the AirPort card in the iMac.
Also ensure that your D-Link is configured to work either in 802.11b/g or "802.11b only" mode. Since the original AirPort card in your iMac is 802.11b, your router must be in a 802.11b compatible mode.

  • Airport does not recognize any networks, no signal whatsoever, SOMEONE HELP

Hello, I use an iBook at the office, i have been using it for several months here and at home, worked fine until yesterday, logged on in the morning everything was working fine, until airport had no signal, it did not recognize any networks, at first i thought it was a problem here at the office, all the other computers are working.
I tried it at home and it doesn´t recognize anything at all.
The network status says that airport is turned on but it is not connected to any network.
It`s clearly a problem with my computer, not the network, can anyone help?
    Regards
    Rodrigo

Rod1, Welcome to the discussion area!
Verify that the antenna wire is still properly connected to the AirPort card. It may have come loose.
If you have an iBook G4 you can use the photos in KB 108039, Properly attaching the antenna on an AirPort Extreme Card to verify that the antenna wire is still properly connected to the AirPort Extreme card.

  • Airport does not detect wireless network; it says problem = [network]"connection timeout"

It is not a problem of signal strength, and my Airport detects other networks. It used to detect the network I want to connect to, for two years. It suddenly stopped detecting the network (which is WPA Personal password-protected). When I select choose other network and type in the password, it won't connect to it claiming "connection timeout."
This happened before. Then after several days, Airport was able to detect and connect to the network I want. Now it again won't detect the network, and this seems permanent short of taking measures to address the problem. Should I try connecting manually to the network, and hodo I got about that? Thank you to anyone out there ho might be able to help.

i have a macmini (OS 10.5) and use a belkin wireless router. When I turn on Mac address filtering on the router I have an Intermittent problem. The airport does not recognize the wireless network. On the network preferences panel there is a message that the airport is using a self assigned IP address. sometimes the message says the airport has no IP address. If I turn off the Mac address filtering and use a WAP password only the network is recognised and connects without a problem. How do I resolve this? I dont have the problem with a iBook using system 10.4. Is turning off the Mac address filtering secur?

  • Adobe Reader 8.1.1 does not remember Duplex setting

    Restarting the old thread.
Some techinical issues have rendered the earlier post read only.
    Johnapp - 12:03pm Oct 9, 2007 Pacific
I am printing with CUPS under Ubuntu Feisty and I have defined a HP Laserjet-4Si-4Si-MX-600-dpi printer/driver and set the default duplex setting within the CUPS system to long edge binding.
However, every time I start Adobe Reader 8.1.1, the properties window for that printer shows Duplex Printing: Off. If I change it in that dialog, it is remembered as long as the program stays open, but after closing and starting fresh, this is again set to off.
Since I nearly always want to duplex-print this is extremely annoying.
Is there a way to set the default within the Adobe Reader program? Is there some way to pass settings to the program or to force a setting for this through a configuration file?
The documentation of these issues is extremely lacking, not to say entirely missing, it seems.

    hi johnapp,
We are not able to reproduce the problem at our end.
Can you please try out the following things at your end. It will help us in isolating the issue.
Is the above behaviour also happening with properies other than "Duplex"?
What happens if you press the "Defaults" button on the properties dialog? Does the "Long Edge Binding" option comes up on hitting the "Defaults" button?
    Regards,
    Rishi
    Johnapp - 5:22am Oct 10, 07 PST (#2 of 3)
Yes, all the properties in the properties dialog are affected: page size, input bin, output bin, duplex printing. After restarting the program the same happens as pressing the "Defaults" button, setting all these values to specific values, of which the duplex setting is "off" and unwanted and different from what I defined in the printer configuration dialog of the OS.
    Neha Seth - 4:00am Oct 11, 07 PST (#3 of 3)
    Hello,
Could you please try the following steps and let us know your observations?
    1) Go to the CUPS page (http://localhost:631) and change the default values of PageSize to "A2", Duplex to "Long Edge Binding", Resolution to "300dpi" and apply the changes. Please take a screenshot of the settings here.
    2) Launch Reader 8.1.1 (after removing the $HOME/.adobe folder) and open the print dialog. Choose the printer for which defaults were set in step 1 and click on the "Properties" button. Are the values chosen above listed in the drop-down boxes here? Please take a screenshot here too.
    3) What is the behavior on clicking the "Defaults" button now? Please take a screenshot after this step as well.
Could you please send the screenshots to nseth at adobe dot com? I know this is a slightly time-consuming exercise, but it would be great if you could try the above, since the issue reported by you is not reproducible at our end.
    Sincerely,
    Neha,

Scratch that, I got it to work.
    Even though the following commands:
    lpoptions -p printer-name -l | grep -i duplex
    and
    grep -i printer-name /etc/cups/lpoptions
were both showing duplex as the default on both the client and server side and despite the fact that the lp and lpr commands defaulted to double-sided, acroread and it turns out even evince were not.
    I re-ran the command:
    lpadmin -p printer-name -o Duplex=DuplexNoTumble
from the cups server for each of our duplex printers and now it looks to work fine.
I'm not sure how or when this happened but it sounds more like something I did or else an issue with cups (perhaps an update made something inconsistent?) than it does an acroread problem.
    Thanks for your time,
    Elliott
