Adobe Reader XI - print dialog box blank - Windows 8

Using the latest version of Adobe Reader XI, The print dialog box either comes up blank as shown in file 1 and I have no control over printing. OR it comes up with all the labels missing, see File 2 - yet I can control some features by clicking on the blank boxes.

One reason that the Acrobat/Reader dialogs will not display correctly is when the needed system fonts have been removed or uninstalled.
Or it may be that the default font is changed.
Try to reinstalled the Segoe font family and check if it corrects the issue.
Also You can follow the below steps for restoring the default font and removing any font changes you’ve made. After the restore, check if the issue is resolved or not?
1. Open Fonts by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, and then clicking Fonts.
2. In the left pane, click Font settings.
3. Click Restore default font settings.
You can also check the corrupted fonts by running Microsoft’s Font Validator from http://www.microsoft.com/typography/FontValidator.mspx

• Adobe X no print dialog box and program closes when printing

Have one user who started encountering this problem today:
Opens up PDF
Clicks on the Print icon (or File - Print)
The Print Dialog box never appears
Adobe 10.1.1 program then immediately closes - nothing in the event log
Able to get the PDF to print only if right clicking on the file and selecting Print (but don't get to select any Printing options)
Have tried selecting a different printer with the same results
Have uninstalled and reinstalled the program
Any help is appreciated

I have a similar problem with the the same printer.  Excel works fine until you ask to print preview, this takes about a minute to appear, and about another minute if you ask it to print too.  Once you've printed and are back in Excel anything you try to do now has a delay.  I've tried then changing the printer i want to use to a networked one which makes Excel return to it's normal self.
I've also tried sharing this printer to make sure it wasn't the PC but it is the same on any I've tried.

• Using the print dialog box of Windows

Hallo,
how can I use the Windows printing dialog box for selecting a printer ?
(I use LabWindows 5.0.1)
Regards HGalle

Our printing functions (PrintCtrl, PrintPanel, etc.) will bring up the print dialog if you select to show it in the function call. If you weren't using our print function, you can bring up the Windows print dialog box with the Windows SDK function PrintDlg. Consult SDK documentation for help with this function.

• Adobe Reader X printer dialog switched to default Windows printer

Tried Adobe Reader X and when I tried to print to our desktop fax printer name it just printed to my default Windows XP printer instead of going to the desktop fax printer dialog. I reinstalled Adobe Reader 9 then.

We don't have that functionality in the Acrobat Family. InDesign uses the print system from Creative Suite, Acrobat and Adobe Reader do not.

• Adobe Reader 11 Print Dialog

I work at a public library and am in charge of updating and maintaining our technology. We have over 20 public access computers that are open to our patrons which they can use to print documents, amongst other things. We have a Xerox Workcentre 6605 and use software from Librarica to control printing. Patrons need to print from their computer, click a confirmation box, and then ask the staff at the desk to release the prints from our manager computer.
Ever since updating to Reader 11, I occasionally see a print dialog pop up when printing a PDF that says the following:
"The default settings in Adobe Reader 11 may cause a color shift when printing PDF files. In addition, some black and white PDF documents may be printed using color and black inks and may be billed as color pages.
Before you continue printing, Xerox recommends that you change Reader 11 to allow the printer to manage colors.
To change the Reader 11 setting, close this dialog box, click the 'Advanced' button at the bottom of the Print window, and check the option 'Let printer determine colors.'"
There are a couple of options available to our patrons at this point, including "Send my document anyway" and "Don't show this message again." Whatever option is set as the default sends documents as blank pages. Most of our patrons don't know what option to pick so they go with the default, confirm their print which says ZERO PAGES, and then log off the computer. When they come tell me they sent a print, I have to tell them that it didn't go through properly and they have to try again.
I can't select the "Don't show this message again" option because we have DeepFreeze installed on all the computers so that any changes made to the computer by patrons are erased when the computer is shut down for the night...so the "Don't show this message again" option would revert back.
This is really driving me nutty. I went into the Advanced settings today with a test PDF and it looks like you have to check the option 'Let printer determine colors' for every PDF.  I have also tried recreating the problem on my own but never get the dialog. Help!!

I don't know DeepFreeze, but I imagine it's something that restores a clean disk image at regular intervals.
I also imagine that this DeepFreeze image is renewed when OS or software updates are installed.  I suggest that you change the options you mentioned ("Let printer determine colors", "Don't show this message again") after a security update to Adobe Reader is released later this week.  Let these changes go into the new DeepFreeze image, and you should be fine.

• Adobe Reader XI all dialog box's corrupt

It looks like any dialog box in XI is corrupt.  This machine is windows 7 pro 32 bit OS.
I have uninstalled, reinstalled, uninstalled, used Adobe cleaner on it and reinstalled rebooting each time.  I have installed Segoe font as one user had said resolved their problem in a previous search. Nothing has changed the results.

all dialog box's look like this regardless of which box you pull up.

• Adobe Reader 8 prints head-to-toe on duplex printer...

I'm working with Adobe Reader 8.1.1 and Windows XP Pro. Using HP Color LaserJet 2605dn, which has automatic duplex printing capability.
I have PDF files that contain several pages. When I set the 2605's "Preferences" to print duplex (print on both sides of the page), it prints the pages "head-to-toe" - page 1 is right side up, page 2 (on the back of page 1) is upside down, page 3 (on the 2nd sheet of paper) is right side up, page 4 (on the back of page 3) is upside down, and so on.
I've experimented with the various settings in Reader's Print dialog box, but nothing makes all the pages print right side up.
I don't know the source of the problem: the multi-page PDFs I'm trying to print were not all created by the same person or software. Duplex printing works correctly when printing multi-page documents from other kinds of software (e.g., Microsoft Word and various databases).
Any suggestions?
Thanks, John

I put this aside. The only thing I can think of, is installing earlier verisons and testing those. I'm not sure Adobe will assist on this issue since Adobe Reader is a free program. I'll post any solutions that come this way.

• Can't see printer name in the print dialog box as the printer name is too long

This is actually causing siginificant pain as I am using a tablet and moving around a number of floors/buildings needing to be able to print from where I am.
When printing from Acrobat reader, the print dialog box that comes up does not have a horizontal scroll bar and does not fit in the names of the printers in my organisation. We are unable to change the printer name, so it basically means that when using Acrobat, we can't select a printer.
All other windows applications show more characters and also have a horizontal scroll bar in the print dialog box so you can scroll across to see the rest of a long printer name. Why is acrobat not using the standard windows print dialog?
Has anyone come across this? Help!

This is the Acrobat forum, not the Reader forum. In the future you should check there. I am not sure why you can not change the printer name, unless you do not have administrator rights. The name of the printer has nothing to do with where the print copy is sent. It is just for the purpose you mentioned of identifying the printer to print to. If you are not the administrator, ask your IT folks to change the name for you and explain why.

• Adobe Reader - Print Dialoge box is usable

Yesterday I was running Reader ver. 10.1.3 on a Windows 2008 x64 Terminal Server.  All users Adobe Reader print dialoge boxes now open up very very large.  Any visible font is perhpas 10" tall (see screenshots below).  Drop down pick lists don't display text, and neither does any of the buttons (see screenshots below).  As long as you just want a standard print, you can press enter to activate the defaulted print button.  You can press the ESC key to exit the print dialoge form.  Printing is all being done to Networked printers and I get the same screen no matter what printer is set to be the default printer.
Sometimes (rarely) the print dialoge box will display normal size, and it will display the page your going to print, but as per above, there is no text on the buttons or drop down boxes.  The sample screenshot below took up my entire 1920x1080 screen and is just a small portion of the dialoge box size.  I have to scroll around three screen lengths to get to the other side of the dialoge box. There is no verticle scroll bars, so I can't scroll down to the bootom of the dialoge box.  Nor are there any window resize options (see last screenshot below)
Here is a closeup shot of the top LH side of the Dialoge box:
Below is a screenshot of the top RH corner (I had to scroll three window lengths to get to it):
The Word and Excel etc. Print Dialoge boxes are all working ok.  I have tested different default printers with the Reader Print Dialoge box window and get the same looking screen.
The first thing I tried was to just reboot the Terminal Server (TS).  I was supprised to find that I had the same problem.  I tried upgrading to 10.1.4  and rebooted the TS.  I still have the same problem.  I see that someone else has sort of had a similar issue to mine:  http://forums.adobe.com/message/4559861 But don't really see a response on how or if it was resolved.
Anyone have an idea of whats going wrong and how to fix this?
Thanks.

As mentioned above, every now and then people will see a normal sized dialoge box.  Here are two examples:

• Print Dialog box and User Code on Reader 10

Hello,
I recently updated to Adobe Reader 10 and when I go to print there is apparently a new adobe print dialog box. Which is ok except that it doesn't seem to get my user code info. When I print using the printer... button it prints fine. But if I push ok from the new adobe print dialog it causes an authentication error in the log on the printer. Is there anyway to put in my user code to adobe reader so I don't have to do this extra step? Can I turn off the new Adobe print dialog box and have it just go directly to the OS print dialog box like it used to?
Thanks,
dave

Can you tell us if you are using Windows of Mac OS? The Mac OS version of Reader has a Printer button on the bottom of the Print dialog box that brings up the standard printer dialog box.

• Printing from FLASH without "Print dialog Box" Pop-up window?

hi guys,
i got a flash + OSX question, maybe someone can help me,
i'm working on a Adobe Flash (Flash version 9, actionScript
3) project, running on a MacOS X 10.4, on a core2duo iMac, it is
connected to a printer (Xerox Phaser 6360).
- the flash will be displayed in full screen.
- it is a "create your own postcard- &- print it out"
flash-based multimedia project.
- so Flash will need to print stuff.
issue is:
- everytime when something need to be printed, macOS X will
prompt a "Print Box" pop-up window say Cancel or Print (see my jpeg
below).
- so it might overlap on top of my Flash project, which is
running full screen (so having the pop-up window overlapping my
flash is no good).
so i need a solution to avoid this, any idea?
what i can think of are:
A- is there a way to avoid/by-pass this step? meaning a way
not to show this?
or
B- or is there a shareware/way to "auto-click RETURN button"
so even this screen appear it will be "auto-click" away.
or ..C?
i knew there is a Plug-in (or Xtra) for Macromedia Director
called: Print-o-matic,
the URL is:
http://www.printomatic.com/products.cfm/
it work well on the Director on Mac OS7, but they only made
it for Director & Authorware, not Flash :-( do you know
something similar for Flash?
this
is the pop-up Print dialog box i meant (which i want to avoid),
or u can copy the URL to view there:

about the printer URL:
High
speed color for high volume printing - Phaser 6360
hope i'm able to get a solution here.
thanks guys,

• Print Dialog Box Opens behind open windows

The print dialog box opens behind any open windows everytime I print to a PDF.
It seems to happen from every program AutoSketch, Word, Excell, QuickBooks.
Very annoying.
The minimized dialkog box opens and flashes below on the task bar. When you click on the mini icon the print dialog box comes to the front.
How can I get the dialog box to open on top of all windows?
Scott

I was unable to find the SavedData file.  I am running Windows 7 and there seems to be two files there /Roaming/Adobe/InDesign and /Roaming/Adobe/AdobeInDesing5.5 and neither one has a clear file name "InDesign SavedData" for me to remove.  I think I found the "InDesign Debaults" under the /Roaming/Adobe/InDesign/version7.5/en_US/InDesignDefaults.  Is that one it?

• How to open window print dialog box ?

Hello experts,
i want to print the form degin with data in forms' field.
for this i add a button in my tools bar. i want when to call the windows print dialog box.
please help
Thanks
yash

You did not mention what Forms version you are using or the platform on which it is running. Although that doesn't really matter much in this case, please include this information in the future.
To print a screenshot of the currently displayed (running) form, use the PRINT built-in. Refer to the Builder online help for details. Here is the example from the online help:
/*** Built-in: PRINT **
Example: Print the current window. */
BEGIN
Print;
END;

• Print Dialog box wont appear when "Print Pages" from Bookmarks Window

When I use the "print pages" option from the Bookmarks window the pages are sent directly to the default printer with the default settings. How do I get the print dialog window to appear if I select "print pages" from the Bookmarks window so that I may modify the print settings?

I wasn't aware that you could get the print dialog box to appear after dragging a supported file to the alias, regardless of where it resided. I've never seen this happen on 10.4.x or 10.3.9 so I tested the Option key and found it didn't force the dialog box to appear either. Tried a few others keys also but no luck in getting the box to appear.
Re the fierycupsfilter issue. EFI have released an updater that replaces the system-provided version and therefore stops the need to modify the ppd.

• Crystal 10 RCD and Windows (Advanced) Print Dialog Box

Years ago I wrote a Crystal Viewer program and Crystal Support showed me how to change the Viewer Print Dialog box so it would use the Advanced Print Dialog (I believe it used the Windows Print Dialog). Does anyone know how to set the RDC Viewer to use a Print Dialog that allows changing the printer and not just the default Print Dialog box that only shows settings for the default windows printer? I no longer have the source code for the program I wrote before and can't remember what to set and I have now written a new Viewer that I want to include the ability to change printers.
