Adobe Reader XI- Usage rights?

How do you enable usage rights in Adobe Reader XI?

I am basically trying to enable a document so it can be electronically signed. I know that in other Adobe programs, if you enabled extended features, it would allow signatures.
The pdf currently doesn't respond when I click in signature boxes.

    Hi Ruchi,
I think you are trying to pass some values to the form at runtime.
and then when you are tying to see the print preview you are getting
    this error.
first thing that needs to be checked is the ADS (Adobe Document Server)
may be your ADS is down and/or misconfigured; refer to config guide on service.sap.com/adobe.
you can go to SM59 and see the configuration or look for a basis guy to do it for you...
and if it is still not solved can you elaborate what king of values are you passing to the Adobe Form.
    regards

  • Reader Extensions / Usage Rights

I followed the procedure in this paper from Paul Guerette to set Usage Rights to my forms, but at run time, it pops up a message:
"This document contained certain rights to enable special features in Adobe Reader. The document had been changed since it was created and these rights are no longer valid. Please contact the author for the original version of this document."
On the top of the window, below the Reader toolbar, it says "you cannot save the data typed into the form". There's no "commenting" icon in the toolbar, no digital signature icon either. Looks as if it's not Reader Extended.
    How do I fix this?
my ES version is GM, no Service Pack not patches applied.

My RE was the last step as well, it was after the "Workspace enable form" step.
I have run another test. I removed the RE step, and it's working the same way as before; everything worked on a desktop that has the Acrobat Pro.
I then launched the form/process in Workspace on a desktop that only has Reader-8, the form got rendered in the browser, and I saved the PDF (a blank copy, no data).
Then I ran this PDF through the RE browser interface, and it was successfully Extended. When I opened the extended PDF, there's a Digital Signature icon, the "message" (which was entered when applying the rights) was behind the "i" button; but there was no commenting icon (unlike some other non-form PDF files, those files got an extra commenting icon). There was no pop-up warning.
Some other "form" type of PDFs also didn't get the Commenting icon after extended through the browser interface. I thought we could put some yellow stickers onto forms before? ES/Reader-8 doesn't allow you to do that anymore?
I have run another test, this time I removed all the scripts behind the Form:ready event, there's no other script. But it didn't help, I still got the popup warning. So, what could have caused it to think that the form got modified after the ApplyUsageRights ??? Why the Rights don't stick?

  • Failure Notice when installing Adobe Reader 11  Administrator rights Win7

Have tried downloading ansd installing Adobe Reader 11 on my new Dell Vostro with Win 7 Pro. I am logged in as administrator but when I try to install Adobe Reader I keep getting a message that I do not possess the necessary administrator rights. Any suggestions? I've tried downloading and installing with both IE and Firefox and have checked that Java is enabled. I also checked that I am definately logged in as administrator. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Try this
download the offline installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/ and save it to disk
right-click on the downloaded installer and select Run as Administrator

  • Why won't my adobe reader update work right? it won't take my password

My adobe reader update keeps flashing but every time i click on it and put in my password it hangs up at 97%..I tried it several times:))

I have been looking at this most of the day.  What I found was any time "TOOLS" or one of the online buttons are clicked or the toolbar on the right that allows you to convert a pdf to word or digitally sign is open reader closes.  If you can get that to stay closed reader will open.  And again no explanation.  No event log.  Nothing.  If the user is an admin it might work but for a standard user is just closes.
    Reader 11.0.3

Disabled protected mode and that did not help.
This started to happen just after the last adobe and Windows update on May 14 (patch Tuesday)

  • Strange adobe reader memory usage while selecting text or just holding the click.

    Hi,
I have observed this increase in cpu usage since the ubuntu 8.10, when I started using acroread.
I thought it gonna improve in the near future, but it still exists, and I am not able to find someone who has seen or reported this.
Currently I am using Ubuntu 11.10 64 bit and adobe reader's version is 9.4.7.
Try reproducing it, just by opening any text pdf document and selecting some text, dont release the left click, keep it holding and it eats full cpu, until you leave it.
System Load Indicator shows a sudden and full increase in usage.
Any one having any idea about it. You cannot report it as Ubuntu bug because adobe is external software.
This is not observed in the web pdf document downloaded and opened in web browser using same adobe's reader.
    Cheers
    Sukhi

I've just started experiencing the exact same problem. I upgraded to Reader X a good month or so ago, and I've had it open with documents loaded for long stretches most days since installing it, but I didn't notice the problem until Sunday 9th Jan. Closing Reader and reopening it brings back the toolbar, but then it disappears again after a while.
I too am running Windows XP SP 3, with 2 GB RAM and an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 6000+ CPU.

  • Adobe Reader not working right.

Pdf forms in Adobe Reader are looking different than they used to. I also keep getting a message at the top which says "This pdf document might not be displayed correctly." But the biggest problem in documents that I was able to fill in information online previously are not working. In particular the tax form 941 which I need to send in!!! Help!
This is in Adobe Reader X.

It looks that you are currently using the build-in Firefox PDF reader and that build-in PDF reader can't be used to fill a PDF form, so you will have to make sure that the Adobe Reader is installed properly.
You can try to disable this PDFjs reader and set the pdfjs.disabled to true on the <b>about:config</b> page.
I'm not seeing the Abode Reader plugin in your system details list.
Is that plugin disabled (Tools > Add-ons > Plugins) ?
Try to delete the pluginreg.dat file in the Firefox Profile Folder and maybe addons.sqlite as well to reset the plugin registry databases.
Note that you are currently running a Firefox 19 beta version, no you may need to create a new profile or try the current Firefox 18.0.2 release.

  • Adobe Reader CPU Usage

    Hello All,
The problem i'm having is that "acroread" process after being open for some time (many hours or even days) starts to use all the CPU without anyone touch the application. This causes lots of trouble because i'm using all the time simulation software and "acroread" starts to share CPU with my mission critical applications and I cannot be always checking if acroread has crashed.
I've tried with more than one Linux distribution and have read in some web forums that other linux distributions have the same problem.
    Currently i'm using CentOS 4.4 (Linux 2.6.9-34.0.2.ELsmp #1 SMP Fri Jul 7 19:52:49 CDT 2006 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux)
Even in CentOS 4.3 , 4.2 , 3.4 they all had the same problem.
I'm using acroread 7.0.8 but older versions of 7.x did the same.
Please share some ideas about this issue.
    Thanks

Not sure whether this is the same problem or a different one.
For us acroread consumes all the memory and the CPU is maxed out swapping
until the oom manager kills acroread and the machine recov
Our machines are 2GB RAM with 2GB swap, running the x86_64 version of
Scientific Linux 5.3 (a recompilation of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3)
    - we don't really need a 64bit OS but some local apps run faster in 64 bit.
We first saw this with, I think, acroread 8.1.4 and continues through to 8.1.6.
(I am reluctant to switch to v9 since we are using it as a pdf viewer
not a flash viewer - adding javascript was bad enough - we would be
more likely to move to evince or another open source pdf viewer).
Typically acroread chews memory for users who run firefox 32bit
and the nppdf.so Adobe plugin, but I cannot confirm that it never
happens for users whose firefox opens a separate acroread process.
What extra imformation would help to debug this ?
    Thanks,

  • Right Click Printing in Adobe Reader X

Using Windows XP and Adobe Reader X I am having some printing issues. For example, I open My Documents folder and right click on the PDF i want to print, without opening the file in Adobe Reader first and then clicking print, then I open my next file within the same folder and print that one the same way.  With the new Adobe Reader X, I right click it prints the first document however it appears as though Reader stays open then when I go to do the second document it doesn't allow the program to print until I close Reader (which was opened by the first document I printed) is closed.  Once closed it opens Reader again and then leave it open until I phyiscally close it.  In prior versions when I would print it would close reader - I have tested the issue on another users machine and it works fine however on my machine it does not.
Is they an option in Adobe Reader X i need to turn on or off, to get the function of printing by right clicking on the PDF file without having to physically open and close Reader X to print?

I anwswered my own question because it appears as this thing isn't monitored or people don't want to help you out in a timely fashion.
Click Edit>Preferences and remove the check from the Enable Protected Mode at Startup in the General Tab.  This should fix the issue

  • Saving responses in pdf form in Adobe Reader

    Hi,
I have an existing pdf document (for a competition entry form) which i converted into a form using Acrobat Pro. I want to post this on my website for users to download, complete and email back to me. However, when the pdf form is opened up in Adobe Reader (which most people have), they cannot save it.
Going back to Acrobat Pro it gives me the option to distribute to a list of email addresses and collate the responses. This is not what I want to do as I do not know all the recipients.
Is there a way to allow this document to be saved in Adobe Reader?
    Thanks, Simon

There is but as I mentioned in your post in the Reader forum, it is not available in Acrobat 7. You need 8 or better.
Also, if you DO get 8, be sure and read the usage rights on enabled forms. There is a limit for data colletion. Basically you can only collect 500 filled in forms.

  • Adobe Reader 9.4.1 and bar code

We are using Adobe Reader 9.4.1 to enter data to a form
that has 2-D bar code. But when we clicked on the bar code, it turns grey and becomes unreadable. Why is this and how to correct it?

There is one company authorized by Adobe to apply usage rights to individual documents using LiveCycle Reader Extensions: http://www.formrouter.com/pdf/readerextensions.htm
You'll have to contact them for pricing.

  • Windows 7 64-bit Adobe Reader 9.3 and IE8 - Opening PDF in tab and then closing said tab causes IE8

I've been running Win7 64-bit for quite some time now and only up until a few weeksa go started to have problems with Adobe Reader continuing to ask me how I wanted to read a document and to click here to save the settings and not ask me again.  The check box never worked and it would continue to ask me constantly every time I opened up a new PDF file.
I finally figured out how to get rid of the nagging dialog box but now each and every time I open up a new tab with a PDF file in it and then close the tab, IE8 crashes and tries to recover the tab.  This never happened before.
What is causing this and how do I fix this?  Please advise.
Upgraded to 9.3 this morning and problem remains.  Tried uninstalling all traces of Adobe Reader and reinstalling but still no dice.
Problem also happens at home on a similar computer running Win 7 64-bit and running an older version of Acrobat and Adobe Reader.

    Try this:
Right click on the IE8 icon in the taskbar. A menu pops ups up. Right click again on "Internet Explorer". Then left click on "Run as administrator". I had a different problem with Reader and this solved the problem. The problem I had was I could not save pdf files in IE8. This solved that problem.

  • PDF file garbled in Preview, OK in Adobe Reader

I was sent a PDF file, I think generated on a Windows PC with office and converted to PDF somehow.
Preview on OSX on 10.7.5 shows most characters in this file as boxed question marks, suggesting it can't handle the font.
Adobe Reader shows it just fine.
    Looking at the fonts used in the file (using Properties from Adobe Reader) its using;
         ArialMT
         Calibri
         TimesNewRomanPSMT
The attached image shows Preview on the left and Adobe Reader on the right.
I downloaded versions of those missing fonts but Font Book complained because they were duplicates.
It seems Preview is not handling font substitution as well as Adobe Reader.
Adobe Reader is my work around for now but it is NOT A SOLUTION.
The point of this thread is to get Preview improved, I buy Apple stuff because it just works ... usually.
In this case I had to faff around for some time before I was able to view this document.
In researching, I see this problem, or variants of it, have existed for some time with only work arounds offered never a permanent solution.

Posting here will not achieve your goal. File a bug report with Apple, since http://www.apple.com/feedback/ doesn't show Preview or TextEdit as Apple apps.

  • Printing in Adobe Reader 11

I had Adobe Reader 10 (X) on my Win 7 Pro 64 bit desktop. I can open PDF files just fine and view them, and save them. Just as soon as I got the the Quick Print button or File --> Print, the adobe reader window goes right into Not Responding. I never even get a Print Window. I have tried different PDF's, same result. I uninstall Reader X, deleted all files and registry entries, reinstalled Reader X, same problem. So I unsinstalled and installed Reader XI, same problem. It is really frustrating.
I have an Epson NX100, with the most up to date drivers. Any ideas why this is happening? I have waited 10 minutes for it to "come back" from not responding, never does. I have to kill the process from Task Manager in order to get rid of the Adobe Reader window.

I don't know why this is happening; "Not Responding" usually means the process is waiting for something - but what?
If this were happening to me, I would try to observe the process with Process Monitor - this might get me an idea what resource it is waiting for.

  • I have an editable pdf made in Acrobat. Viewing it Adobe Reader Mobile (Android) and I can fill it fine. I want to be able to fill the form but it keeps autosaving. I just want to email the form and then it goes back to an unfilled form. How do i do that?

Currently, Adobe Reader for Android does not provide an option to disable auto-save.
In the Reader home screen (where your files are displayed), you can make a copy of the original PDF document, open the copy (instead of opening the original document), make changes to the copy.  Once you email the copy, you can delete it.
For more information, please see Help > How To... > Copy, edit, delete, manage.
Although it is not the most convenient way to accomplish the task, that's the only feasible workaround that is available in Adobe Reader for Android right now.
