Adobe Resource Synchronizer prevents scripts from running to completion

This problem is using Acrobat 8.1 on OS X 10.4.10
We use a bank of G4s and G5s to automate the creation of summarized PDFs at the end of review cycles for our users. Through a combination of those things that can be Applescript'd and those that must be QuicKey'd, we often get QuicKeys complaining that it couldn't access certain menu items, thereby hanging our automation process. This happens frequently enough that our automation process seems almost unusable at times as we must constantly "babysit" these automation engines as they become unresponsive.
As we investigate the matter we notice that Acrobat on these machines seems to have a really difficult time maintaining responsiveness. Eventually, QuicKeys gives up in its attempts to do any work. When a system hangs, the Adobe Resource Synchronizer is occupying 99% of the CPU cycles, trying to do... something... not really sure what. We can manifest this problem without even opening a shared review PDF by going to Preferences > Reviewing. This can take up to 20-30 minutes to populate the window on these machines. However, it DOES eventually work. The same goes with opening the Review Tracker. It can take 20 minutes to display the review tracker information, but it does come up eventually.
So, we're trying to understand what is happening here. We have a WebDAV server that hosts our shared reviews, which sometimes Acrobat complains it cannot connect to the server. Which is odd, because all of the other systems can, and if we quit Acrobat and relaunch it then it typically works the next time around, using the exact same scripts.
What can we do to keep the responsiveness of these machines up in talking to the review server? What can be done to keep the Adobe Resource Synchronizer from working so hard? Is there some kind of overnight database maintenance that can be performed on the client or server side to keep things tidy and snappy? Are there known combinations of WebDAV + Acrobat that are more or less stable than others? Any real reason to suspect that Acrobat 9 on OS X 10.5 would eliminate this issue? We're at a bit of a loss, for now.

Looks like it was a waste of time to register for this forum. One good thing: I got a link here to a page providing info on other pdf readers. I'll probably go with Foxit as a replacement and see how that works out.

We are 12.1.3 and trying to create a workflow to approve Project transactions coming through web ADI before they become effective. To this end, we want to prevent users from running the PRC: Transaction Import from the Web ADI.
I know that if the checkbox Automatically run transaction import is not checked, the program does not run. But we want to hide this checkbox and not allow the possibility that the program could get triggered.
To this end, we updated the BNE_INTEGRATORS_B with source='C'. This allows you to edit the integrator from Desktop Integration Manager.
UPDATE BNE_INTEGRATORS_B SET SOURCE ='C' WHERE INTEGRATOR_CODE ='PAXTTRXB'
In the 4th step, where the value for Uploader Parameters is set, we have set boolean value to No. These are the fields on the page:

Now the checkbox is not appearing for the user to check it, But the program is automatically running when you hit Upload in the WebADI.

Try removing the PRC: Transaction Import Program from the request group for the responsibility used by customers to submit the WebADI and then check if the program launches.

Why does VS2012 install prevent VS2013 from running

Whilst performing an update to VS2012 (adding the 29MB Office Tools component which can take over 1 hour) does it prevent VS2013 from running?
When attempting to start VS2013, an error dailogue is displayed stating VS2013 cannot run whilst a setup is in progress. As these are totally separate applications, why is there this restriction?

Although they are different versions, they have some shared components.
For example, you can see some shared components by refer to here:

So it is hard for us to know what file may in use by the Setup file.
Anyway I recommend you leave VS Setup from running and open Visual Studio 2013 when you finished the installation of Visual Studio 2012.

The only change I need to do to make it work is enable update 23 and disable update 24 in Java Control Panel.Have you tried searching the bug database for hits? There were some security updates in 1.6.0_24 that affected a number of things, including copy and access to the Robot. Perhaps there was a bug introduced at the same time.
..Unless I have misunderstood & what you are trying to do is somehow related to (yet) another security bug fix. ;)

Why does Adobe provide substandard MacOS software? Adobe Resource Synchronizer kills

As has been discussed in many places in the forums, "Adobe Resource Syncronizer" under MacOS 10.6 (and other versions) will frequently consume 80% or more of available CPU cycles doing nothing useful at all. This has been a problem reported here for more than a year and yet it persists. The result is that my MacBook CPU fan starts running constantly and battery life is sucked dry.
Unfortunately, my wife isn't techie enough to know how to pull up the process list and kill the odous piece of software fecal matter, and I'm not always around in time to help. Today again, her MacBook Air battery lasted less than 2 hours when it normally goes for 5 or more. Yes, that's still better than my Dell's battery, but it still means lost productivity and an unhappy family. And Adobe software has been the only example of such misbehavior.
Please fix this steaming pile of bits and provide an update utility that behaves itself.
Until there is a fix, I'm uninstalling all Adobe software from the machine and sticking with alternative PDF viewers such as the built-in Preview.

Adobe: AIR bug preventing us from upgrading to AIR 3.x

Adobe, since you released AIR 3.0 there's a bug that causes embedded PDFs to expand beyond the application window's width. The bug is detailed here.
In AIR 3.1 the issue hasn't been fixed, nor does the release notes say it's a "known issue". This concerns me since the bug was logged well before AIR 3.1 was released. I have asked for an update on the ticket but had no response, so currently I don't know whether this issue will be fixed before the AIR 3.2 release.
We cannot use AIR 3.x because it prevents us from reading PDFs and the workaround provided does not work for us. Can anyone tell me what's happening about this issue please?

Does Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010 block powershell scripts from running?

Hi all,
I have a task that runs a Powershell script on a set schedule on a particular machine. It has failed to run and I thought 1 of the potential reasons would be that FEP 2010 blocks the Powershell script from being run. Does FEP 2010 do that? If so, where can I find the setting to allow Powershell scripts (or VB scripts or Java scripts) to be run by my task?

If the script detect as malicious , FEP will block it, otherwise it won't block normal and safe PowerShell scripts. You may take a look at event viewer and see whether it being blocked or detect as malicious code by FEP or not.

DAC parameter error preventing task from running

Please see below this error which is preventing a SIL from running, I've never seen this one before, not sure if it's a config error or programatic/environment related.
I'm particularly puzzled by the file name being repeated three times?
This is the last task in a small batch of custom tasks, all the others have run through OK.
Error Message : Usage error. You passed the wrong parameters to pmcmd.

In the pmcmd command workflow name followed by parameter file.
Just in case check the task config in dac.
There might be chances for copying twice for task command like 'Custom_SIL_ InboundCalls.txt' and that is repeating and the most important to check is your task name or workflow name having space after SIL_
If above are correct then try this
replace -lpf with -paramfile in file infa_command.xml and try to run the load
for more details read the file comments from file.
You can find the file from location orahome\10gR3_1\bifoundation\dac\conf\infa_command.xml

Updates fail when McAfee VirusScan is installed ( Prevent Common Standard Protection ) Prevent programs from running from the Temp directory.

When Access Protection is enabled under the category "Common Standard Protection", Rule: Prevent common programs from running files from the Temp Directory is enabled. the updates fail.
This rule provides some protection against possible malware execution. However when this rule is enabled FireFox updates fail. We have set exclusions for "updater.exe" but the problem seems to be when FF restarts and the update fails. Is there anyway of finding out what is happening at that point?? as in what FF is doing? The old FF closes and it seems to spawn a fresh "firefox.exe". But the OLD version is still current.
I would like to know if this update process can be identified and with the possibility of excluding what is being blocked so keep the extra security that this rule gives.

Data Execution Prevention in Vista prevents itunes from running. WHEN IS APPLE GOING TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE?

Is there no solution to this problem? The Windows site says keep checking the Apple site to get a version of iTunes that is compatible with the issues between the Data Execution Prevention in Windows Vista and any of the later versions of iTunes. Problem is, IT DOESN'T SEEM THAT APPLE REALIZES THERE IS A PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. If there is a solution, or a patch that can be downloaded, or anything, I would really appreciate knwoing about it. The last time I had this problem was when I updated to iTunes 10.0. It took most of 3 weeks to figure out a fix for that. Now, I have a new phone, and it will not sync unless itunes 10.5 or later is installed. OK, lets do a complete overhaul to make sure it's working ok.
First to check your Windows system file for any corruption:
Go to command prompt (START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES right mouse click "command prompt" and choose "Run as Administrator"
type in
sfc /scannow
let Windows fix any system files that need to be repaired.
Restart the computer.
Start iTunes and see if it is ok.
If it doesn't, will have to go through the whole process of uninstalling and installing acccording to the following steps:
1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:

Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.
2. You should remove all instances of iTunes and the rest of the components listed below:
it may be necessary to remove all traces of iTunes, QuickTime, and related software components from your computer before reinstalling iTunes.
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:
iTunes
QuickTime
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support

Disable every single web fonts in adobe muse and prevent it from loading open-sans:n3:all.js

I'm using Adobe Muse 2014.2 to build a Chinese site. The audience of the site is mainly people in mainland china, and I'm using a server from Hong Kong. Recently I just tested the site, however, it was loading extremely slow. In the end I found out that the cause of the slow loading was due to a file called "open-sans:n3:all.js" that was loaded from adobe webfonts.
Because a lot of sites are blocked in China, I think that Adobe Web Fonts (or typekit) is also blocked thus can't be loaded properly, causing the entire site to slow down.
Is there a way to disable all the webfonts in Muse and to prevent my site from loading this file?
Or is there a way I can host this file on my own server?

This was a snapshot that my friend in China sent to me. You can see that the open-sans:n3:all.js is taking extremely long to load.
Yet the funny thing is that I did not use any web fonts in my site. However Muse is still adding it in the code for some reason.

I can still load it with the script running or attempting to run in the background but it makes firefox tremendously slow. After I click on stop running the script then everything seems to be ok.

Creative Cloud causing loss of Window Focus and preventing screensaver from running?

I am running Windows 8.1, and have been very annoyed lately with an intermittent loss of window focus. Any window I am working in would quickly lose focus and then regain it. Frequently I would be entering data into a field, and, while typing, the loss and recapture of focus would cause me to type over/replace everything I had just typed. Also, my screensaver would not run. Screensaver preview would work, but the screensaver never ran on its own.
After a few hours of Internet searching, and by using some Windows tools, I discovered a plethora of system errors related to CoreSync.exe. This executable is part of Adobe Creative Cloud. I uninstalled Creative Cloud, and now the problems have vanished. Are there any known workarounds for this? I do not want Creative Cloud installed if I have to put up with these issues.
