Adobe's Frequency Analysis-VST VERSION

I really like the way you did about frequency monitoring in AA 2 or 3. And, to be honest, I'm used to it pretty quickly.
But, for some reasons, I am moved to another DAW. I have tried a LOT spectrum analyzers, tried all the best vst in this direction, and all they did not come close to subject.
So my predictable question to Adobe's developers: Can you make VST version of frequency analysis, that contained in Adobe Audition 2/3? I'm really sure, that this idea will become popular and will get high demand. Thanks, I look forward to your wisdom.

Frequency Analysis on Adobe Audition CS5.5 for bioacoustics research

In need of some help.
I research whale/dolphin sounds, and have previously used Raven Pro for analysis. Ive found Adobe Audition produces a much better spectrogram (think it must be the FFT algorithm) and allows me to visualize a lot of whale calls that I may have missed previously by visual inspection on other software.
I need to measure these calls. Basically I need the duration (seconds), minimum frequency (kHz), maximum frequency (kHz) etc.
I have played around with the Frequency Analysis tool in Adobe Audition, and this cannot compute these figures for me at all. In Raven, it was extremely user friendly, and all you had to do was highlight the call by moving your cursor over and selecting the call, and in the left hand window, it would tell you the min F and max F and duration for that swatch that you had highlighted. Is there any way of doing this in Adobe? I know you can visually see on the right hand side the Frequency axis- but it doesn't give you the exact frequency i.e. I need it to be to 2 decimal places eg. 2.12 kHz minimum etc.
I have inserted a screen grab of what I mean when you "highlight the call".
Is there any way of doing this? I would be incredibly surprized if Adobe Audition does not have the ability to do so. But I have read through the manual and gone through a lot of threads and just can't find any information on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!

Ive seen you can display it many many ways, but I need it in seconds, and the most sensible time format is mm:ss.ddd. Is there anyway I can change it to just ss:ss? When you highlight a section, in the bottom right corner of the screen you'll find the timing section, and in there the box marked 'duration' will show you exactly how much time you've highlighted. In Frequency Analysis, the way to note highest and lowest frequencies is, unfortunately, manual and involves finding them with the cursor and noting the cursor information (under the display). If you open the advanced window, you'll get more information, including the level of the frequency at the cursor position. Also there's a bug in the display (or more to the point, the way it's calculated) which means that if you highlight just one section in the spectral view, this isn't what the Frequency Analysis display shows - I'm reporting that one.

No I'm afraid there isn't. I did try a cheat to see if I could at least get the timeline to do this, but that won't work either. Yes I think it should be there as an option too...

Issues with Single Frequency Analysis

Hi all,
I recently installed multisim 13 on a new computer. I went to do a simple single frequency analysis of an RC circuit and got some funny results. The magnitude of the voltages measured by the probes seem to be off, and I have never experienced this on any other computer I have used. I have tested it in multiple circuits and always get the same problem. I was wondering if there is some setting I am missing that will change this, but I have searched forums for two days now and haven't come across this particular issue. I have attached some images to show what I'm describing.

It looks to me like it's working properly for the default source "AC analysis magnitude" (1Vp). How did you get the source to say "VRMS"? What version of Multisim are you using?

Problems with Frequency analysis

I use the frequency analysis a lot for comparing specific points on similar tracks. Every once in a while, the freq anal will stop live-updating. In fact, it will not register a changing in the cursor position on the edit or spectral freq view at all. Has anyone had this problem and found a solution?

ps, I have tried lowering the FFT size to no effect.

If you want to have the 'good frequencies', you must set your dt.
if you use LV6 and waveform, the dt is the inverse of your sampling
frequency.
If you use older version, you can set your dt buy bundling dt value and the
array of point. you also can set the multiplier value in the
attribute/propertie node.
dt is always the inverse of the sampling frequency.

Understanding Frequency Analysis

I use Adobe Audition CS6 to generate abstract tones (normally between 400 Hz and 2000 Hz with 1 or 5 harmonics). For tones with 5 harmonics, when I create them there are 5 obvious power bands in the spectral frequency window, and when I do a frequency analysis (Alt-Z) there are 5 obvious spikes and nothing else. However, when I open the same sounds later on, and perform the same frequency analysis there are many other spikes present (though at lower powers than the 5 I specifically created). Why are these harmonics showing up in saved sounds? I do equate the sounds for Total RMS, does that have anything to do with it?

If you store 5 tones (let's say 10 seconds) with the tones at a reasonable level - let's say -10dB - and save the file at 16-bit depth, and select the whole file to analyse, you'll see pretty much what you'd expect/
But, what you see depends to a large extent on the FFT size you are using in the analyser, and sometimes with tone generation having the very start of the file included can do strange things to the results. If you select a reasonable section of your 10 sec file with an FFT of 8 or 16k, you'll end up with a noise floor sitting at about -120dB across the spectrum and your tones pretty clearly defined. The smaller the selection you make, the more the noise floor gets bumpy (when you hit the analyse button, the noise in the selection gets averaged out, and the more there is to average, the more it comes out to a fixed value). If you measured the SNR using the meter, you'd have a noise floor around -96dB, which is the value of all of the 1/Hz noise @ -120 dB added together across the bandwidth, and this works out to 6.02dB/bit. So the same sound saved as an 8-bit file will have twice as much background noise.
Also, you have to bear in mind that there's a difference between stopping the cursor at any point and looking at the results, and analysing a selection. Even analysing a short selection will give you a much more accurate representation of what's actually there.

Frequency Analysis - batch automation Query

Hi,
I was wondering if its possible within adobe audition to automate a process of performing frequency analysis on a batch of audio files and saving the frequency analysis windows in individual bmp files?
There is a file batch utility which I am aware of for processing groups of files. However with the frequency analysis window - the only way of saving this window is by Alt-PrintScreen and manually saving file to another bitmap package.
Is anyone aware of a way/system/tools of achieving this ?

There's no way of doing this within Audition, but I think that there are external batch process programs that might let you do this using Audition - if you see what I mean. I don't personally do things like that, but maybe somebody who does could recommend one? Alternatively, and probably rather a better bet, re-ask the question on the AudioMasters forum. You are more likely to get a meaningful response, quite frankly.

Frequency analysis freeze

Since I use Audition 3 to do analyses of sound/music, I often use the frequency analysis window to compare slightly different versions of the same waveform. Normally, you can do this by getting the freq anal for one version assigning it a color from the four colors on the top right hand corner of the freq anal window. Then you put the cursor in the same place on the second waveform, and compare it with the colored spectrum you made from the first version.
But every once in a while, the frequency analysis freezes and refuses to change when you move the cursor anywhere. Strangely enough, it will move to show the spectrum in real time as the cursor passes over the wave form. But if you want to put it in a single place to compare spectra, the freq anal window doesn't change.
I think this must be a setting problem, but I don't know which. Can anyone help?

I know this has happened to me before, but I couldn't tell you exactly how to fix it. All I can remember is that fiddling with the advanced options made it work again somehow...

Frequency Analysis in 5.5 (or not)

Hello,
Just tried using the frequency analysis window in 5.5 and find that:
only displays a graph when the CTI is moving by either clicking play or
moving it manually.
The Scan/Scan selection button is not active.
Live CTI is displayed in the upper left of the graph area.
A graph displays for a fraction of a second when the window is opened but so quickly
that I only noticed that after multiple tries.
Nice that it has 8 hold buttons but the only way I can get a display to hold
is by playing the clip.
Any info about this?

Here's what I found this morning.
If I double click a clip in MT the file is opened in Edit Mode as always in earlier versions.
Then if I open the Frequency Analysis window there is no graph.
Until I select a different file.
At that point a graph is displayed and if I go back to the first file a graph is displayed.

I am unable to open raw files from my Canon T1i in Adobe Camera Raw of my version CS3 of Photoshop. I have tried to update my ACR by downloading version 4.6 from the Adobe website but I am still unable to open raw files, just JPEG. Is there a way to use

I am unable to open raw files taken on my Canon Rebel T1i in my version of Photoshop CS3. When I import raw files into Bridge they come up as patches with CR2 on them and when clicked on, a notice comes up stating that Photoshop does not recognize these files. I tried to update my Adobe Camera Raw by downloading version 4.6 from the Adobe Website, but when I clicked on the plus-in, I got another message that Photoshop does not recognize this file. I spoke with a representative from Canon who said that I could not update CS3 and that I should subscribe to the Cloud. I would prefer to use my CS3, if possible. Can anyone advise me what to do?

I have downloaded the two files needed for the upgrade of Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 to version 12 but I cannot open them to make them run and install. What am I supposed to do. One is a very large .7z file just over 1gb in size.

How do I open up a .7z file just over 1gb in size? I have just downloaded this as an upgrade from Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 to version 12. I cannot see any sign of the Akamai program on my computer that is supposed to open and install the two files that I downloaded.

I don’t mind mountain climbing but anything serious to do with a computer scares me silly.
I installed the 64 bit version of 7zip and once I figured out how to tell the computer to use the right application within that to open the 7zip file, the big file opened and I was able to apply the .exe file to get things going and installed. In the end the default location the installation chose was program files x86 which I think is the 32 bit folder but it all seems to be ok now.

I bought Adobe Acrobat Pro XI full version and the reseller sent me a serial number but when I install an error message says the serial number is invalid.
The reseller claimed it is Adobe's problem not theirs.
Adobe website is very confusing that I am not able to send an email to ask for help.
It has been a week since I bought it and I am still not able to enjoy the program.
How do I go about getting Adobe attention on my problem ?

Ok, thanks for that. If the serial doesn't work, you will indeed need to contact Adobe. But here are some things to try first.
1. Does it refer to a QUALIFYING PRODUCT? If so, enter the serial number of the OTHER product, not the one you just paid for.
2. If you are copy/pasting the serial, try typing it. If you are typing it, try copy/pasting it.
3. Make sure what you purchased matches what you downloaded. For instance, check you didn't buy Acrobat Standard and try to install Acrobat Pro. Or that you didn't buy a Mac product for use in Windows. And so on.
