Adobe's unreasonable policy on providing serial numbers

Two years ago I purchased the Adobe CS4 suite at an educational discount (I work at Columbia Univ.) that came to over four hundred dollars. After going through what seemed like an overwrought and needlessly complicated procedure to get a serial number, I installed the software. Recently I upgraded to a new computer and discovered that the email that contained the serial number had been inadvertently deleted. So I called Adobe to get it again. Even though I had registered the product and even though the person on the other end of the phone had all my information in his database, he refused to give me a serial number unless I could "prove" that I purchased it. This means tracking down the purchase on a two year old American Express statement, but even then I was led to believe by the Adobe employee that this might not be good enough. God knows what they are looking for.
In all my years of purchasing software *legally*, I have never run into such a brick wall. I am thoroughly disgusted and will urge all my colleagues not to deal with Adobe.

As this particular forum is for discussing, well the Adobe forums, Adobe will never see your complaint here.
I would contact Customer Service directly, and share your feelings. This is C/S and not Technical Service. That should get their attention, and perhaps at least getting them to think about doing things differently.
I have never had any educational versions, and my one and only S/N issue was years ago, but then C/S was very quick and helpful sorting my issue out. I could not have asked for better support - but that was then, and this is now, and my issue was also not with an educational version of a program, so that could well be another layer.

My Adobe - all my previously registered product serial numbers are missing!

I logged in to my adobe today using the same account I have used for years.
I found that all my registered product serial numbers are missing.
On previous log ins this list correctly showed all my adobe purchases.
There must be about a decade's worth of purchased serial number now
missing from this list.
I had logged in to check my cs5.5 serial number in order to purchase a
creative cloud subscription.
However, finding all my details missing has put me off buying more products.
Is the wiping of the data a temporary database problem at your end?
or will this permanently affect my ability to upgrade products and services?

Missing Serial Numbers for CS4 COmponents & Acrobat X Pro

I installed CS5.5 on my 32-bit system, which means I had to install the included "complimentary" CS4 copies of After Effects & Premiere Pro. As stated in one of the Adobe troubleshooting sections I read, the CS4 components require a separate CS4 serial number. As also stated in that same section, Acrobat and CS products have different serial numbers. Unfortunately, I was only given one serial number, and that one was for CS5.5. See image below for related screenshot collage.
The serial number has been intentionally rendered unreadable for obvious reasons, but it's sufficient to show that there's only one serial number associated with my products. I need serial numbers for the 32-bit CS4 components and for Acrobat X Pro. How do I get them? I tried chatting with an Adobe support agent a couple weeks ago, and he told me he couldn't help me. He said I needed to get the serial numbers from the company that provided me with the CS5.5 serial number (Identit-E, who evidently gets involved with providing serial numbers for validated student license purchases). They said they couldn't help me, and that I had to get with Adobe! So I'm being run around in circles with nobody taking responsibility! And when I tried to follow instructions and a link that I thought MIGHT give me some answers (on this page: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/517/cpsid_51791.html)...

So I've done about all I can think to do, including contacting the actual reseller who sold me the software (no word from them yet). Nobody's claiming responsibility, and they're pointing at each other. That leaves me in the middle with no answers and only partially working, very expensive software!

iPods do not work with "accounts." They work with your iTunes library. You don't have to set up a new iTunes library for each iPod. One iTunes library can sync with as many iPods, iPhones, and iPads as your own, at the same time. iTunes connects to and treats each device separately.
However, if your iPod nano is set up for automatic syncing with an iTunes library that is NOT your current iTunes library, you cannot sync your current library to it without replacing its existing content. Do you have access to the previous iTunes library, the one the iPod currently synced to? If so, you should transfer your song files from that iTunes library to your current iTunes library. Then, sync our iPod to your current iTunes library. You can post back to get more info about the procedure.
If you don't have access to that previous iTunes library, the approach is to first offload the song files from the iPod to your computer's drive, then add the song files to your current iTunes library.
You cannot use iTunes to transfer song files from iPod to computer, except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store. However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer. If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
You can then sync your iPod to your "consolidated" iTunes library.

Missing Serial Numbers for Adobe Creative Suite 5 Web Premium

I purchased Adobe Creative Suite 5 Web Premium with the education discount in 2010. My computer crashed and I am trying to install the software on my new computer. I do not have the serial numbers anywhere. For some reason, the Adobe Acrobat 9 serial number was saved in my Adobe Account. However, the remainder of the applications, which were installed on the same day, were not saved in my account? So now, I have no way of installing anything except Adobe Acrobat 9. Is there a way to have a new serial number issued to you? Or a way for Adobe to use my Acrobat 9 serial number to track down the others? I have all the installation files. Is it hidden in one of those files possibly?

Try chat, they might be able to assist you in finding it thru your account. You might be able to use the Acrobat info to convince them that you also have the CS5 under your account.

We need to be able to have her working on the photos on her computer with her copy of LR and me on my computer with my version of LR being able to access what is already tagged and given back to me. Sounds like your assistant isn't instructing Lightroom to write the tagging and editing to the files themselves, so wehn the files return to you, they don't have editing and tagging information. She need to select the photos in Lightroom and then Ctrl-S (Cmd-S on Mac). Or alternatively turn on the option to autmoatically write this information to the files.
If you are using RAW photos, then this information will be written to a sidecar XMP file, and your assistant must provide you with the sidecar file. If these photos are not RAW photos, then the information is written directly into the photo file itself.
Lightroom wasn't designed to be a multi-user program, and so it is truly not possible to have two people working on the same catalog at once. The way you are doing things, as modified above, is probably the way to go.
As an alternative, you can transfer (portions of) catalogs as well as photos back and forth and then all of these issues disappear, but a catalog might be rather large for a flash drive (or maybe not, it depends)

"My Adobe" site is permanently redirected to "Adobe ID" site. There is no way to retrieve serial numbers for CS 5.5 products and below.

The My Adobe URL (adobe.com/account.html) has a permanent redirect to the new Adobe ID URL (accounts.adobe.com/) Just a few days ago, Adobe "My Products and Services" contained my collection of serials.Users now cannot access this URL at adobe.com/account/my-products-services.html with the redirect in place.
The new Adobe ID site "My Products" at (accounts.adobe.com/products) reports "You have no registered products." We need the "My Adobe" classic site back to access our registered serials.
Adobe should update their help documentation that references the old link (adobe.com/account.html) as well. Here are a couple of examples:

https://accounts.adobe.com/products shows all my products with their serial numbers back to 2005 when I first registered PSE2.0 that came bundled with my camera, and the two example pages with old links properly redirect to the Plans page and all I have to do is click View all products and again I will see my list back to 2005.
So things are working just fine for me. If it says you have no products, maybe there are changes still percolating through the server network that aren’t in place from where you’re surfing from, or maybe you have multiple AdobeIDs and are signed into the one that doesn’t have products registered to it.
In other words, things appear to be working just fine with my AdobeID using either the old links or the new links and so I’d reword the request to be that you want the new site to work properly. The old site did have another layout that required clicking into each product to see the serial number whereas the new site list everything on one page without clicking into anything. I prefer the new way.

I am able to open up the organizer without problems, but when I try to open up the photo editor (either by trying to open up the program from the main menu, or right-clicking on a photo in the organizer to edit in elements), the program asks me to sign in to adobe (which I can do and it doesn't give an an "incorrect password" or log-in ID error) then accept the terms and conditions. When I click to accept the terms and conditions, nothing happens and the editor fails to open. Everytime I click on the program, I get this same "loop" of signing in and accepting T&C's, but the program fails to open. Any advice?

Premiere Elements 10 is now 64 bit, but not PSE10.
Take a look at your scratch disk set-up and if you have a spare volume, allocate that first before the C drive. Elements use scratch disks when it gets low on RAM.

Turn off face recognition and the auto-analyzer to improve performance.
When editing photos or videos check the task manager to see what background processes may be running and end them temporarily if not needed.

How can I get serial numbers or the free versions of Adobe, Air, Flash Player 14, and Reader XI Pro that I had installed on my computer before Microsoft crashed my computer and I had to do a fresh install? I finished reinstalling Win 8.1Pro on my computer thanks to Microsoft Lvl 1 Techies corrupting my Command Structure so nothing would work. I had recently taken a picture of my installed programs (control panel, uninstall programs list) so that I would be able to reinstall everything I needed. I can't seem to find an email for the Reader which I remember paying for, the others I believe were free installs. Can anyone help me out.

To switch, I am afraid you will have to reinstall using the other one.
But that should hardly be necessary.
