• Adobe Shockwave crashing all the time, freezing my browsers

I just did a clean reload of Adobe Shockwave Flash, and it keeps crashing and
freezing my browsers.  I know that it is at fault because when I install it, my
browsers work normally.  Using Windows 7, 64-bit PC, Firefox and IE browsers.

There's not a lot of detail to work with, but the biggest source of crashes is related to graphics drivers.  It's also a pretty easy place to start.
See the section on disabling hardware acceleration here as a starting point:
Video playback issues
If you disable hardware and things are way more stable, then see if you have the latest available graphics drivers.
If it doesn't help, give me a few crash reports from Firefox and I'll take a look and see if I can tell you what's going on.
In Firefox, go to about:crashes in the address bar.
Click the first few links, and give me the address from each of the resulting pages.
Thanks!

• Adobe Shockwave Crashing

My Adobe Shockwave is crashing repeatedly.  I have updated it and have the correct verision in my HP Pavilion g6-1d45dx Notebook Pc.  I will be working, listening to music, or playing a game when suddenly it crashes without warning.  It crashes repeatable and many times i lose the work i have not saved before the crash.  I have had a tech tell me it is not my computer but on your end.
I am very concerned about this issue and would like to have the issue resolved ASAP.  What can be done to fix the problem.  Right before it crashes all the way it will stat that Shockwave has stopped working.  It is annoying and has cost me dearly.  Please fix the problem.  I am running windows 7.

• Adobe Flash Player and Shockwave crashing has disabled my computer

I have downloaded a second flash player and it is still the same. Firefox has been crashing daily for a few weeks. I noticed that your adblocker plus was updated 6/4. Since then I have almost no use of firefox, because the Adobe flash player 13.0.r0 and Shockwave crash notices are constantly popping up. Could that update have something to do with why the flash players are not working? Below are an example of the crash details.
Thanks for the help. I prefer your browser, but this has made it non-functioning.
In trying to fix it, a window came up that asked would I like to change it back to a previous working image, which was Windows XP. Although this computer is Windows 7, I clicked the box yes, and said I wanted it to work like Windows XP. I see in your Operating System below, that it reads Windows Xp, but this computer is actually Windows 7. I can't find that menu to change unclick and change it back, so that it is working as Windows 7.

AdBlock Plus isn't maintained or connected to Mozilla as they didn't develop it. ABP and Flash don't interfere with each other except on same cases that ABP blocks Flash content.
You can Try disabling Hardware Acceleration. <br>
#Go to this Adobe Flash Player Help page.
#Right-click on the Flash Player logo on that page.
#Click on Settings in the context menu. The Adobe Flash Player Settings screen will open.
# Click on the icon at the bottom-left of the Adobe Flash Player Settings window to open the Display panel. <br/> <br/> <br/>
# Remove the check mark from Enable hardware acceleration.

If that doesn't work try Try to disable Protected Mode in Flash 11.3 and above by adding the line ProtectedMode=0 to the Flash "mms.cfg" file located in one of these locations: [46]
(Windows 32bit) C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash
(Windows 64bit) C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash
For example, on a Windows 7 64-bit system, open the C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash folder, copy the file "mms.cfg" to the desktop, open it in Notepad, add a new line <code>ProtectedMode=0 </code> and then close Notepad, saving your changes. Next, go back to the C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash folder, rename the original file to "mms.cfgBAK" (to save it as a backup) and then drag and drop in the modified "mms.cfg" file from the desktop. [47] [48] [49]
Note: To re-enable Flash Protected Mode, either restore a backup of the original mms.cfg file, if you saved one, or else re-edit the mms.cfg file to remove the <code>ProtectedMode=0 l</code> line you added. Updating Flash Player or installing a newer version does not automatically re-enable Protected Mode
Flash has been a pain since day 1 and Mozilla is currently working to replace Flash with Shumway. Unfortunately it's in the Nightly channel, doesn't come activated automatically and it isn't quite ready for normal usage. I just tested Nightly yesterday with Shumway and it wouldn't play.

• Cant see video - Error msg: Adobe Shockwave Player crashed

I'm using Mozilla Thunderbird on win 7 professional. It's been working fine up to 3 days ago. Now I get a message (on video sources) that Adobe Shockwave Player has crashed & am unable to view the video. I've un-installed shockwave & re-installed it to no avail. I also tried to go back to a sys restore point but only got 2 recent dates rather that a list of calender. I tried both dates & still not fixed.

Thunderbird does not play video and has nothing to do with how well Adobe products work. You might check with Adobe on fixing their software.

• Adobe Flash plugin crashes on MANY sites, but not all (not YouTube)

Adobe Flash plug in crashes on certain sites, but not on all (not on YouTube, for instance). The big problem is NBA league pass. I spoke to a friend who was happily watching NBA league pass next door, so their feed isn't the problem.
This occurs in both IE and Firefox. It also crashed Safari. I'm running Windows XP. I've reinstalled both browsers (latest version), rebooted several times, and reinstalled Flash too.

Since this is happening in all browsers, try turning off hardware acceleration in your Flash Player display settings:
Right-click on any Flash video or animation (such as the animation on this Flash test page), click "Settings" and uncheck “Enable hardware acceleration" in the Display tab.

Flash uses enhanced hardware acceleration (H.264 video hardware decoding) on systems with supported video cards and drivers (read this for details). Updating your graphics drivers many also help.

Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)
* On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* On Mac you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the option key while starting Firefox.
* On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
* Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshooting extensions and themes article for that.
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
Please report back soon.

• Safari and Firefox crash when using Adobe Shockwave

Hi
I have done some research and it seems that this is an old problem but I haven't managed to find a solution. I am trying to watch an animation that uses Adobe Shockwave. I have run it on my old PC using explorer and there isn't a problem bit when i run it on my Mac it shuts down the browser and says there is an error with the IMLLib plug-in.
Does anyone know what this means?
I have uninstalled everything and installed latest versions of everything and still it kicks me out!!!
Any tips advice or info would be very much appreciated!

Hi Fireflower,
Welcome to Discussions!
Just to clarify, do you mean Adobe Shockwave or Adobe Flash? Could you give us an example of an animation that you've tried to watch unsuccessfully?

• Adobe flash crashes only in Firefox.

This is driving me nuts. Adobe flash crashes every time in multiple sites. I have reset Firefox, uninstalled every add on to test them. Right now there are no add on's (post resetting Firefox).
Going down the list of fixes here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/adobe-flash-plugin-has-crashed
-Yes, the plugins are all up to date
-I cannot disable acceleration because if I right click on the red box (located here: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues), I get the message that the shockwave flash plugin is busy or ahs stopped working
Help!

I'm not seeing the plugin-container or the Flash plugin in the screenshot.
You would have to check when page that uses Flash is open.
You can check for problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions and try this:
*check for updates for your graphics drive drivers<br>https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration
*disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)
*disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

• What is Adobe Shockwave player and why do I need it?

Do I need Adobe Shockwave if I already have Adobe Flash?

Shockwave Player is a different player than Flash Player, but there are actually very few sites out there that use it.

• My RIA doesn´t work in Chrome. Shockwave crashed!

Hi friends!
I´m working in a Web RIA site, with music, audio, video recording, video incorporated (youtube flash Api) and 3d Engine like Flare3D.
I´m using Flash Builder 4.7 Beta, and a Flex Project. At work i use windows, but if you tell me that works in Mac Os, i haver three of them ;-).
I have my application working in Firefox, IE, Safari but it´s impossible with Chrome: Shockwave crashed!!. My application is at localhost, so i can´t give the information about it ;-).
Looking for a solution, i crashes with Chrome enough times.
My last surprise is that if you don´t Accept Access to Cam and Mic, the Flash Player doesn´t crash, and the application works perfect in Chrome.
So, please give me a solution. My boss is starting to be impatient, with eyes murderer :-(. I think the problem is with the Security Settings. In the moment that i select option button to access to cam and microphone, Chrome die!!!!
How to make security call? Which security call is the correct?
a) Security.showSettings(SecurityPanel.PRIVACY);
b) Security.showSettings(SecurityPanel.LOCAL_STORAGE);
c) Others...
One quick answer... When will be solved! ;-)
Thanks for all. And sorry for my basic English.

• Adobe Flash crashes and other questions about Flash

There have been several instances of Adobe Flash crashes whether I am using Firefox, IE or Google Chrome browsers - and simply reloading the page corrects this BUT recurs again and again.
I'm running Windows 8.1 64bit in which the Flash program apparently comes embedded in the OS as a 32/64 bit hybrid. When I inspect the Flash version add-on in Firefox, and run an update check, Adobe reports, correctly, that my system is Windows 64bit , English, Firefox. Then, when I do the same in Windows Internet Explorer by checking the embedded version, I get a message that KB2999249 is available for download to correct Flash issues in IE. Since that install, Flash hasn't crashed in IE [yet].
So, my question is: How can I be certain that when Firefox reports that Flash is "up-to-date" that it is indeed a 64bit compatible version? Note that the Adobe download site only identifies one available version for Firefox, IE and Google - the current version being 15.0.0.152 file: NPSWF32_15_0_0_152.
Does the "32" part of the file name suggest that it is a 32bit application and, if so, where can I find NPSWF64_15_o_o_152 [if it exists]?
edited the title of this thread to reflect the questions asked

I now understand the version nuances between the browsers and thanks for the response. Now what, if anything, can I do to address the continuum of Flash crashes since I find it difficult to believe that I'm the only user experiencing this anomaly?
