Adobe Software vs MacBook Air

Hello.
Soon, I'll be buying a late 2013 MacBook Air.
I was using a late 2010 Unibody MacBook, which, sadly, got stolen. In it, I had numerous softwares, but, for professional reasons I used a lot of Adobe's Softwares: mainly Adobe CS6 softwares!.
Question: are these particularly quick when used on a MacBook Air? Or is the low end laptop now adequate? Is 4 GB's RAM & a SSD fast enough to work with Photoshop, Illustrator or InDesign?
Thank you for any information you may provide me with.

Heres an example youll like, on the SLOWEST 2013 Air, CS6 Adobe Photoshop will boot in 4+ seconds.
thats very very fast for such a huge APP.
Yes, all Adobe stuff will run fast as lightning on your Air,  however the Air is NOT the best idealized machine to be sure for VIDEO editing.

  • How to install Adobe software on Macbook air? [edited by host]

    Dear community,
I have bought Creative Suite for Mac a couple of months ago, successfully installed it on my previous notebook (Macbook Pro), but now I have a new Macbook Air - and it doesn't take CD's so I can't install using my Adobe CD's... Is there an alternative (download) option in order to reinstall my Adobe products?
    Thank you for your feedback.

Anne Marijn please be aware you are posting in a public forum.  I have edited your previous response in case the information was your product code.  If you have installed CS6 on an Internet connected computer previously then it will be registered under your account at http://www.adobe.com/.  You can find details on how to locate your serial number at Find your serial number quickly - http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/find-serial-number.html.

  • What is the preferred anti-virus/malware software for MacBook Air

What is the preferred anti-virusmalware software for MacBook Air?

    None is required.
    Helpful Links Regarding Malware Protection
An excellent link to read is Tom Reed's Mac Malware Guide.
Also, visit The XLab FAQs and read Detecting and avoiding malware and spyware.
    See these Apple articles:

If you require anti-virus protection I recommend using VirusBarrier Express 1.1.6 or Dr.Web Light both from the App Store. They're both free, and since they're from the App Store, they won't destabilize the system. (Thank you to Thomas Reed for these recommendations.)
From user Joe Bailey comes this equally useful advice:
    The facts are:
    1. There is no anti-malware software that can detect 100% of the malware out there.
    2. There is no anti-malware that can detect anything targeting the Mac because there
is no Mac malware in the wild, and therefore, no "signatures" to detect.
    3. The very best way to prevent the most attacks is for you as the user to be aware that
the most successful malware attacks rely on very sophisticated social engineering
techniques preying on human avarice, ****, and fear.
    4. Internet popups saying the FBI, NSA, Microsoft, your ISP has detected malware on
your computer is intended to entice you to install their malware thinking it is a
        protection against malware.
    5. Some of the anti-malware products on the market are worse than the malware
from which they purport to protect you.
    6. Be cautious where you go on the internet.
    7. Only download anything from sites you know are safe.
    8. Avoid links you receive in email, always be suspicious even if you get something
you think is from a friend, but you were not expecting.
    9. If there is any question in your mind, then assume it is malware.

  • WINDOWS SUPPORT SOFTWARE FOR MACBOOK AIR 2014

Does anyone know if there is a windows support software for MacBook Air 13 inches 2014 version?
    I do need it desperately

Again, what do you mean by a Windows Support Software?
Bootcamp will allow you to install Windows on a Mac. Beyond that what else do you need?
The instructions don't mention anything about Support Software.

For All intents and purposes Bootcamp is the software that supports Windows installations.

  • Can Adobe Reader damage MacBook Air?

Can Adobe Reader damage MacBook Air?

Thanks, I have posted a couple of questions that I feel were a little dim and in fact one got a less than nice reply so I suppose I am a little embarresed to ask questions when I read the comments from you experts. But we all have to learn and I am sure you guys were less knowledgeable at the start. Hope for me yet !!!!
I did enjoy your "milk" comment. A nurse spilled a cup of tea on my Air when I was in hospital and the "M" key stopped working. Kept using the computer then suddenly after about a month the key started to work again. Shows these Mac's are tough.
Now that I feel a little more comfortable about asking, can you help with another issue I am having. When I try to download files from the internet they come in a file with everything in what looks to me like code. I therefore don't know how to install them. This is why I asked about Adobe Reader as I uninstalled it on Saturday and today have the download problem. Could A.R be the reason do you think?
Sorry for the long reply and as my wife always says "I talk to much" There I go again

Updated software on Macbook Air and bootcamp partition disappeared.  Windows boot option no longer appears.  Can I get it back and the data?

Amy, is there a chance they could both be Syncing to another device that has the data erased?
What are the sizes & modification dates on the files you found?
Could be many things, we should start with this to be safe, though 2 different ones would seem unlikely to be this problem...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at the top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.

  • Engineering Software on MacBook Air, help?

Hey there! I want to buy a new laptop easy to travel with (because I'll be taking it to college everyday) and people keep telling me I should a MacBook Air because it's light and it does everything. Unfortunately, I'm concerned about:
    1. I need to install several programs in there, some of them heavy as well as the projects coming from them.
    2. Compatibility with Microsoft Office/Microsoft Programs
Here are some of the programs I would have to install so you can get the idea:
Silverlight 4/Microsoft Expression Encoder 4/Visual Web Developer Express Edition/Microsoft Expression Studio 4/Adobe Photoshop/Adobe Illustrator/Adobe Audition/Sound Forge Pro 10/Netbeans/JavaFX/Oracle SQL developer
+ more video editing programs/3D modeling software...
Fortunately I can customize it. So the best I could get would be a MacBook air with:
2.0GHz Intel Dual-Core Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.2GH
    8GB 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM
    512GB Flash Storage
Will it be able to run these programs fast enough? I don't want performance problems since I really need to use it for college.
    Waiting for opinions. Thanks!

For Mac compatibility you should check the appropriate web site. You do appreciate you will have to buy the Mac versions.
If you already own windows software, you have the option of creating a windows partition and installing the existing sw on that volume.
The MBA you are considering is very fast.
Does your college have a computer store where you can do some hands on testing? Alternatively visit an Apple store and try out some of the display models to get an idea of how they run.

  • How do I reset my adobe password on macbook air?

I want to up date Adobe Flash Player on my Mac Air. I need to reset my Adobe password.  How do I do that?

Are you sure it is the Adobe password you need? I just manually updated Adobe Flash Player on my MacBook Air (after reading your post) and the only password I needed to enter was during the installation process and the password I needed was my Macbook Air login password.

  • Installing Quicken software on MacBook Air with VMware.

I am a new MacBook Air user and have installed VMware so that I can install Quicken software (which only operates on Windows).  I am having all sorts of trouble; when I try to install Quicken in my USB superdrive, nothing happens.  It won't load the software.  I have tried "autorun" in "windows" but I don't know the name of drive. Sorry, I have very basic knowledge so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Sounds like a VMWare Support problem.
I have no such problems with Parallels.
I assume you are aware that Intuit sells Quicken 2007 for Lion, Mt. Lion and Mavericks for $15, but you want to continue to run a PC Version?

Here's my dilemma: I have an iMac G5 which I use with Remote Disk to install software on my MacBook Air. If I try copying the package, I just get an alias (and the original can't be found: voodoo!).

    Here's one:

That version (5.4.2) won't work with the very latest AirPort Extreme or Time Capsule units, which need version 5.5.
