Just reporting here as can not figure as to where.
A bug that would possibly go unnoticed by most people not running Winpatrol
is that a pop up report of a Run Once program is trying to run so Winpatrol asks permission if
this file can be run. File 14184436787 Run Once.
Anyway, notice kept poping up and could not deal with it in Winpatrol until uninstalled almost every program on my system
and rebooted each time until I got the following info was the the File 14184436787 Run Once is Adobe Speed Launcher
and that the file was no where to be found except that a registry key kept was running at each reboot.
Can see from attached pic.
Anyways a pain in the butt this registry error until found so will someone please make sure this does not happen again......Regards

How do I turn off Adobe Speed Launcher?

I run Adobe Reader XI and since the last update, every time my system starts I get a prompt from WinPatrol that Adobe Speed Launcher wants to run at startup. It is identified only as "1419364033" and has the notice "File does not exist" in the description field.
I prune my startup list regularly; frankly I don't want unnecessary "speed launchers" taking up memory and cpu cycles. I've tried to delete this from startup but it keeps coming back. How do I get rid of it?

We have rolled out a fix for this issue.
Please log off and log back in to your machine and the issue should be resolved automatically. In case that does not work, please manually run the msi installer posted here (may require reboot).

Adobe Reader Speed Launcher

I recently updated my Adobe Reader and immediately started having issues where if my mouse even comes close to a pdf file in explorer, reader launches completely blanking out everything else on the screen. The help file tells you how to deactivate/remove it, by removing reader_sl.exe from specific startup folders. Since the file didn't appear in "any" start up directory, I tried deactivating it in msconfig, I removed it from my registry and even moved the file from the program directory to another directory that I made, and restarted the computer. The problem still exists. I can't have it blocking up the My Documents folder when the mouse simply moves near any PDF file. If Adobe can't provide a solution, I will have no choice but to delete Adobe Reader and go to a third party reader. It's a shame because I always liked reader. Now that it is crippling my computer, it's really not worth having! Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this???

It is better not to manually remove startup items, but use a procedure / application that is safe to use, e.g. Startup Inspector. I have disabled that Speed Launcher using Startup Inspector for many years, and I never had any problems with it. (You may actually find quite a number of other useless startup items this way.)

You can't use Acrobat X Serial key in Acrobat XI.
Please do the following steps :
1. Launch Acrobat
2. go to Help -> Deactivate
Now go to your new workstation and download Acrobat X from below link : http://prodesigntools.com/adobe-cs6-direct-download-links.html
Please follow the instructions on the website
Once you download it successfully , Run the .EXE file and put in the serial Number ahain to activate Acrobat X again...

PC Windows XP at startup shows error message "Adobe Reader Speed Launch.Ink disabled".
HOW can I fix this ?

I think that uninstalling Adobe Reader and reinstalling it will probably fix it.

I have adobe acrobat reader 9. I believe that this version of adobe acrobat reader has something called speed launcher. Is there a way that this can be turned off so that it doesn't start up when windows xp is loaded?

It seems to get re-enabled with every update. How to disable it permanently?
(I so hate when programs want to consume resources even when they're not being used.)

If your goal is to install and activate CS5 there is no need to install anything preceding it. You will only need to have the serial number from the preceding version that you upgrade from (CS3 I guess).

This is asking you to store persistent Flash Cookies (meaning, they are not deleted when you delete your ordinary cookies.) Some sites will not work unless you allow them. Here's how to prevent them from getting on your computer in the first place, while keeping Flash and these sites working.
If you use Firefox, get the Add-on Better Privacy, which will delete them when you quit Firefox.
Or, trick these sites into thinking they are actually storing this crap: (These directions are for Flash Player 10 and above.)
Using the following, no LSOs (Flash Cookies) will be stored and yet Flash is tricked into thinking they are. As far as I can tell all sites employing Flash will function properly; nothing will be broken, including Comedy Central with its streaming video content. (In the directions above, I had mistakenly recommended setting the Storage panel in the local Flash Pref Pane to not allow. It must be left as "Allow sites to store...." This was why the Comedy Central clip I had been trying to play wasn't working.)
First, to get a new, clean folder, start by trashing the Macromedia folder in ~/Library/Preferences. That's in your user Library. Next, do not visit the local Flash Pref Pane in Sys Prefs. Instead, go directly to Adobe Global Privacy settings in the Adobe Settings Manager and set Camera and Mic to "Always deny." Visiting the Settings Manager will automatically create a new, clean Macromedia folder.
(If you first visit the local Flash Pref Pane, the new Macromedia folder will lack the empty default #shared objects folder and its also empty enclosed folder (this is the one with a combination of characters and numerals.) I haven't tested to see what will happen if those two folders are not present. I assume, providing the Macromedia folder is unlocked, they would be created as soon as one visits a Flash site, but they will not be empty and this would defeat the entire purpose.)
If you visit the local Flash Pref Pane now, all the defaults will remain, except for the Camera and Mic panel, where "Always deny" will be checked. Next, it seems prudent to go to the Playback panel and check "Block all sites from using peer assisted networking." But, important, in the Storage panel, you must leave the default "Allow sites to save...." checked. This is how sites using Flash are tricked into thinking storage of Flash Cookies is being allowed when they are, in fact, not.
Next, go back to the Macromedia Folder and, using GetInfo/CMD-I, recursively lock all its enclosed folders. This means starting from the back working ones way up to the front. And, finally, lock the enclosing Macromedia folder itself. Nothing gets stored and everything keeps on working.

EDIT: Maybe something I don't know, but I don't think AdBlock in Safari will defeat Flash Cookies. There may be some Safari extension that will.

Does this mean, and I'll call it the MSDN answer, "Get any or all of our applications ?"
or is the TOOTHPASTE answer: "you get ONE (and only one) of our applications, plus two free HTML5 applications?
I would like to get the latest Photoshop Extended and After Effects; the first year offer price for exsting customers makes it a very atractive way of doing this; maybe :-)

It means "any or all" if you upgrade your current Creative Suite to the full Creative Cloud subscription, you would get to download and install all the products in Creative Suite, Touch apps and several services including TypeKit and Business Catalyst. Go here for specifics on the special upgrade.

Where is the Apple problem? I have CS4 and CS5 running perfectly fine on my Macbook Pro. Installed 5 after Lion upgrade. Worth every cent. Adobe did have some catching up to do with Lion but with the CS5.5 update all runs fine. But not yours. So it is a problem with the Lion OS? You say you have been with Adobe since 2005. So you would be aware of all the other issues that Adobe had catching up with past Oss in Mac and Windows then. They get it right, but it is up to them. It is not up to Apple, nor Microsoft for that matter, to run around and check that every software developer in the world is running their business properly.
And what has politics got to do with anything. Some people just have to blame Software for their poor Hardware maintainence of failure of the same.
