Adobe Standard clash with Goldmine

I have been happy using Adobe Acrobat Standard to create and
edit pdf files. When I installed it it put two additional menu
items into Word and Excel and other office applications. I never
use these - I simply print my document to Adobe and get out of Word
as quickly as I can.
Recently I installed Goldmine which works very well. It
requires a link with Word to mail merge and other useful things but
this link keeps collapsing. I understand from Front Range that this
is because it clashes with Acrobat - specifically the menu items it
installs into Word.
I cannot find a way to get rid of the Adobe menu items and
neither can our IT support people. Front Range say the only way to
get Goldmine to work properly is to uninstall Adobe - which I don't
really want to do as I rely on it.
Has anyone found a work around to allow Acrobat to co-habit
with Goldmine? If anyone knows how to get rid of the Adobe menu
items in Word I'd be interested to know - that might fix it.
In hope of a helpful reply
John

  • Adobe Reader clashing with web browser, problem. Help

    Hello,
    I've been using Foxit Reader before using Adobe Reader. Now when i'm trying to view pdf files in firefox there is this error showing "The Adobe Reader cannot be used to view pdf files in a web browser". I've tried reinstalling adobe reader but this problem persists. Below is a screenshot of the problem. This might be a bug in the program as i have done the needful and set adobe as the deafult pdf file manager or the web browser might be clashing with this version of adobe reader. I'm not sure why this is happening and would like someone to educate me on this.
    Please let me know of any solution to this problem. I'm on Windows XP.
    Thanks,

  • Packaging Adobe Standard X with patch 1010/1011/1012/1013- Patch Install Fail

    Hey guys,
    I need some help.
    I'm trying to do a package to install AdobeStd X (deployed through SCCM2012 on Win7). I have the original AcroStd packaged done through Customization WizardX with the license key.
    As part of the folder, I have the following script attached to install:
    AcrobatUpd1010.msp
    AcrobatUpd1011.msp
    AcrobatUpd1012.msp
    AcrobatUpd1013.msp
    Copy of Script for AdobeStdX Setup.ini :
    [Startup]
    RequireOS=Windows XP
    RequireMSI=3.0
    RequireIE=6.0.2600.0
    CmdLine=/sl"1033" /spb /rs
    [Product]
    msi=AcroStan.msi
    Languages=1033;1036
    1033=English (United States)
    1036=French (France)
    CmdLine=TRANSFORMS="AcroStan.mst"
    PATCH=AcrobatUpd1010.msp;AcrobatUpd1011.msp;AcrobatUpd1012.msp;AcrobatUpd1013.msp
    [Windows XP]
    PlatformID=2
    MajorVersion=5
    MinorVersion=1
    ServicePackMajor=2
    [MSI Updater]
    Path=WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe
    However, when I run the Setup.exe the system crashs:
    This patch package could not be opened. Contac the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package.
    If I run the setup.exe without the cmdline to install the patchs however in the .ini file, it works.
    Also, we had done the same package for Adobe Pro X with the same type of script and upgrade patch and it worked.
    Copy of Script for AdobeProX Setup.ini :
    [Startup]

    Hi Ncoch,
    First, get that Admin Guide and follow the instructions. It states:
    To get to the latest version, non-AIP installations should use this order: Base release > latest quarterly
    > latest security update.
    In other words, you don't need to chain quarterlies over quarterlies.

  • Will Adobe Acrobat 8.0 Standard Work With Adobe Reader 8.2.4?

    Hello,
    I have a question, but haven't found an answer to this yet.
    Can anyone tell me please:  Will Adobe Acrobat 8.0 Standard work with Adobe Reader 8.2.4?
    I had Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Standard on my computer & it was working with Adobe Reader 8, but don't remember what the version it was.
    I was using Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Standard to scan very old family pictures & documents & I realize that this version of Acrobat is outdated.
    To make a long story short, my computer had crashed, so we built another computer & just replaced the hard drive.  When I went to Adobe, I had to download the newer version of Reader 9.0 & it didn't work with Acrobat 6.0., so I removed Adobe Reader 9 & I found Adobe Reader 8.0 & have downloaded the patches, so now I have Adobe Reader 8.2.4 back on board.
    Thank you.

    Adobe doesn't recommend any version of Reader with any version of Acrobat on Windows. It will cause problems. It just is a matter of how and when. The problem has to do with shared resources causing conflicts. If you have Acrobat 8, you can update it to Acrobat 8.2.4. You must apply the updates sequentially.

  • Adobe Standard 6.0 with Adobe Reader 9

    I have a user that has both the Adobe Standard 6.0 and Adobe Reader 9 installed.  Whenever she tries to view a pdf on a web page,
    "The Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a Web Browser.  Adobe Acrobat/Reader Version 8 or 9 is required.  Please exit and try again."
    How would I get Reader 9 to work in the browser instead of Standard?  (in IE)  Thank you!

    There is a good "Tips and Tricks" article called "Combining LiveCycle 6.x server products with LiveCycle Designer 7.0 and Acrobat 7.0 or Reader 7.0" at http://partners.adobe.com/public/developer/en/tips/lc_combine_server_tip.pdf. This might help you out.

  • Adobe Standard 8.1.1 with Multiple PDF's Open Reverts Focus

    Currently running Adobe Standard 8.1.1 on a full patched WinXP SP2 computer. When opening multiple PDF's (the source of the documents do not seem to matter - ex. via Outlook attachment, on a local disk, on a network share, etc), the focus will automatically shift to the first opened document.
    For example, I open Document1.pdf, and Adobe opens and displays everything properly. I switch back to Windows Explorer and open Document2.pdf, this document will show for a second or two, then Adobe will switch back to showing Document1.pdf in the foreground. Attempting to open Document3.pdf (while 1 & 2 are still open), Adobe will show Document3.pdf for a second, then it will throw Document1.pdf into the front focus.
    This seems to happen regardless of the documents (have tried with several random PDF's, and they all generate the same behavior).
    Has anyone else seen this behavior? Have any suggestions to narrow down why this is occurring?
    Thanks.

    I have not found a resolution. This still occurs for me, even after upgrading to 8.1.2 (also on several computers)
    Anyone else have any insight?

  • Acrobat Standard XI - How to edit pdf created and signed with Adobe Standard 6.0 on another computer?

    Hi
    Is this even possible? I cant edit PDF-documents because I cannot remove the signature. Can I transfer digital signature from Adobe Standard 6.0?
    Please help me out
    //Anders

    Acrobat versions prior to 9 had a bug which allowed you to do what you did. In Acrobat 9 this bug was fixed. In order to do what you want you need to certify (apply special certification digital signature with your certificate -- it is "Certify (Visible/Invisible)" choice in the "Work with Certificates") your document first. In the process of certification you can specify which modification permissions you allow the users of your document to make after signing. Certification signature must be the first signature in the document.

  • Arranging files with in a portfolio for adobe standard 9

    I have been trying to figure out a way to arrange and save the files in an order that is not alphbetical with in a portfolio.  So far I haven't been able to and renaming them to be alpahbetical isn't condusive to what I am trying to do.  Any ideas?

    The version is Adobe Reader 10.1.0    I will request the latest version
    and let you know if that fixes the problem
    Actually I had changed the name of the file so our associates could access
    the file (changed the  .  to a hyphen)  It still made me wonder why Reader
    wouldn't open it at that time.
    Thanks again for you assistance and I will let you know if this resolves

    Hi Susan,
    Thanks for providing the information.
    Could you also let me know what is the exact version of Adobe Reader on
    your system. You can check the same y clicking on Help > About Adobe
    Reader X.
    In case its not 10.1.1, please try updating to the latest version and see
    if the problem persists.
    Also, does any other PDF with a different filename open in Internet
    Explorer correctly?
    Thanks

  • Getting a calendar to show up with a date field when using Adobe Standard 6.0.3

    Is the calendar available with this version of Adobe Standard? I know with Adobe Reader 7.0 it is, but we have to use Adobe Standard 6.0.3 and I would like to make use of the calendar.

    The calendar control was only implemented for windows in the AcroForms plugin for Reader 7. There is no alternative in 6.x.

  • Camera profile say Adobe Standard with DMC-LX3 files

    Am I doing something wrong here.
    I import raw files from Panasonic DMC-LX3. It is stated as supported in Lightroom 2.3, but under Camera Calibration I only see Adobe Standard?
    Does this have something to do with the exception in DNG file handling for the camera (see, http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/cameraraw.html?camerarawnav )
    All the Best

    It might but I don't think Camera Matching Profiles have been issued for other than Canon and Nikon at this point.
