Adobe story updated

Hi,
We posted an update to the adobe story application just few hours back.
This update is targetted towards fixing the blank screen issue that was reported on the forum and for which we posted a workaround here. Update contains few more minor fixes.
For those who were facing blank screen error with adobe story air application are requested to uninstall the application manually and then reinstall the latest application from https://story.adobe.com.
For those who were facing blank screen error with adobe story web application (browser) are requested to check back on https://story.adobe.com. Blank screen should not appear.
Let us know if you face any issue.

I am probably one of the few people who was driven here by the chance to keep my laptop running in Ubuntu Linux (9.10) and still have access to some sort of accurate screenwriting tool. I have just today in fact received a very nice note from the folks at FinalDraft stating that Linux is likely never going to be in their future even though it seems like asimple matter as it actually installs seemingly correctly using Linux and WINE (latest as of this date) but, it will not accept the registration info which is prompting the few Linux users I know interested in screen writing to use alternate and rather poor methods (like Celtx) that simply are cludgy or only work occasionally correctly if at all. There are templates for OpenOffice but they aren;t perfect and have yet another learnign curve. All this brings me here.
The point of jumpint into this thread in the forums is that although I was able to manually install AIR using help from another link, and it did seemingly later update itself, I am unable to install the desktop version as the installer fails for me. It opens a new html doc and asks about installing Story, attempts a download and then after the download seems to complete, it fails.
My question is then, why not just toss a package out there we can access without going through all the installer and download manager hassles. Give me a link that works please and I will download it and install it myself.
As of now, I have inported and adjusted and tagged a short 12 page script ( I work in experimental narrative short films) but I must have internet access for this to work for me. This means I cannot fully test the application as I am unable to test it offline. This is due to downloading and I believe, updating issues.
There is a lot of talk in other areas about feature sets, font types for editing vs printing and other "tools". To be honest with you, I am happy to use it as it is right now with nothing else added or needed from my end. This is working for me on Linux and is my only option.

Adobe Story update forces me to use online mode

Hi
Since the update I can no longer stay signed into Adobe Story as the splash screen dominates the page. If I sign out, I have to sign-in every time I open the program. Signing in sets me to work online. It was much more convenient before the update when I was able to "Stay signed in" and work offline. Is this a policy change or an error?

Adobe Story just updated and the Sign-in Screen won't go away, what to do?

Adobe Story updated when I opened a project. I allowed it to update and unfortunately I get the sign-in screen on 3/4 of the screen and my project on the rest. Ok, I sign-in again and restarted the laptop and still have the sign-in screen.
Any suggestions to clear this up appreciated.

please click on the sign out button shown in projects view. you would be logged out then . this happens at times when we use stay signed in option while logging in. I hope this solves your problem. please get back to us in case of any issues.

Local Copy of Adobe Story To Start

When executing I get a message box that says "Adobe Story Updating An unexpected error occurred. Error# {0}" under the Story window. No functionality is enabled on the Story window.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times, including deleting the AIR directory in AppData/Roaming before installation.

Is there a log file that would have more information? I have Master Collection and it didn't install Story or its version was where the problem started. Since I uninstalled and reinstalled that info is lost.
AIR and Story shouldn't have a problem with a security product. In my case, just Avast.
Is there a directory or registry entries that Story keeps info that may be corrupt?

Adobe Story - All scripts missing

I have been working on multiple scripts for quite some time, saving frequently. Today, Adobe story updated and now ALL my scripts are missing. The only script that is still there is the sample script, which I deleted long ago. It's like it reset to default settings.
I have made sure I was logged into the correct account, and tried logging in on the desktop and online versions. Anyone else have this problem or a solution??

Just spent the last three days on the phone to Adobe support about the exact same issue only to be told at the end of a 40 minute conversation (most of which was on hold) that it's not supported over the phone. Great, thanks. Couldn't you have told me that three days ago before wasting my phone bill and time? So I guess we are all going to make the same 2 minute movie about a wizard then...
Sometimes my scripts appear when I am offline and not logged into to the Adobe account, if I try and go online it asks me to log out and log into the Adobe account and bammo, all scripts gone with good ole Paladin staring me in the face.
Please help me sort this out, please, please, please!!!

Adobe Story won't open after update

Hi,
I updated Adobe Story this morning, and now it won't open online or offline. I've cleared my browser's cache, restarted my PC, but nothing seems to work. This is a major problem because I have deadlines for this afternoon, and now I can't access my work.

Hi,
When you launch the application, do you see the login page, or is it a blank gray page?
If you were working online in your last session, you can access your account and all your documents from the browser application. https://story.adobe.com/
Launch any browser(Firefox/IE/Chrome/Safari) and log into your account.
We are investigating the issue and will let you know the update soon.

Adobe Story Will Not Update

Hello.
I have been trying for the longest time to get back on to Adobe Story to continue working on a screenplay I am writing. But all I ever get when clicking on it is that it insists on updating. After it does that, Adobe Air says it's preparing to start loading then stops and a warning pops up, saying "Sorry, and error has occured. This application cannot be installed because this installer has been misconfigured. Please contact the application author for assistance."
When I click the CLOSE button, the whole thing starts over from the beginning: Adobe Story installs an update, Adobe Air pops up and loads something, then stops and the warning shows up. Then it repeats AGAIN. I once spent several hours on this with no change. What is this?
I noticed in the discussion forums that others are having problems on this. I don't want to delete Adobe Story because I do have a screenplay already in the works and am afraid it will all get deleted. This is not an option for me, that cannot happen. I also do not have the foggiest idea when I downloaded Story in the first place, so I can't be sure if it was before all the new updates or not. Although I thought it was, maybe it wasn't.
I need help on this severly. Please, please, please help me not lose my work. How do I get passed this?

Thank you but, since I did that when I try to sign in it says "ERROR: Sorry, your Story free subscription does not allow access to this application. Please upgrade your subscription." Then my options below are cancel or upgrade now. I don't want to upgrade. And I still don't know if my script is still there or not. A lot of times I've had to work on it offline. Even though I saved it, has it been deleted? Please tell me it hasn't been. I log on to my account on the adobe sight and all my work is gone. Same with the app version.
What do I do now? I've never had this problem before and it's a little frustrating, off putting and scary. (Scary as in I've lost all my work.)

CS Live Icon not updating due to Adobe Story

This is terribly annoying. The icon in Photoshop will not update, even though I have already signed in and used Adobe Story, despite it being completely useless to me in my line of work. What do I have to do to get it to recognize I have seen the service and unflag? Or is it possible to remove items from that list or something?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I think you are talking about the 'blue start icon' that is appearing infront of the 'adobe story' link.
If that's the case than it's a bug which is persent in CS5 and has been fixed in 'soon to be released update'
for now there is a workaround:
       1) close photoshop and kill 'cs5servicemanager' process from activity monitor
       2) now delete the cache folder (location of cache folder shown below, click to enlarge)
    3) start photoshop and verify

Adobe story browser app won't work, desktop app in update limbo

When I attempt to use the adobe story browser app on Safari on any OSX Lion computer, Safari immediately crashes. When I try and use the desktop app, it downloads the update, then adobe AIR installer crashes because "This application cannot be installed because this installer has been mis-configured. Please contact the application author for assistance."

Please try after clearing the browser 'cache' and 'cookies' on Safari. For desktop app you can refer to http://forums.adobe.com/message/5132010#5132010

Adobe Story fails to update

Upon opening Adobe Story, I get the "download update" notification and I download successfully. I then get the "install update" notification and halfway through the install I get this error message - "Sorry, an error occurred. This application cannot be installed because this installer has been mis-configured. Please contact the application author for assistance." I''ve restarted Story multiple times. I even restarted Windows twice and I keep getting that message. Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry for the inconvenience.
Before we dig further I just want to share a small update - Adobe Story desktop is available since may 2012/CS6 to only two type of users:
- paid/story plus users (or creative cloud paid users)
- free users who had been using Adobe Story before CS6/may 2012 can continue to work in Desktop app in offline mode even today.
If you fall in any of the above category we can help you get ahead, but if you are a free user and have not been working on Story desktop earlier then you will not be able to access it now as well. In that case you can give Story browser application a try at https://story.adobe.com .
In case you fall into any of above two categories, please read ahead.
We have been seeing this issue lately but it occurs only in upgrade scenario that we know of (see link - http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1086845). Can you just try these steps exactly once and see if it fixes:
- download the installer directly from this link - https://story.adobe.com/AIR/AdobeStory.air
- please uninstall current version of Adobe Story completely - drag drop the application to trash (on mac) and then try installing again by double clicking on the installer (AdobeStory.air).
- double click to install.
if you tried exactly these steps earlier or see the same error when you are trying now then it will really help if you can share the logs with us (it will take just 2 minutes), here is what you need to do to share the logs:
Open the Console application from the Applications/Utilities folder.
Select System.log from the log list on the left.
In the String Matching filter field, type Adobe AIR.
Select all, and then copy and paste into a text file.
Send the logs at DL-AdobeStory-Support<at>adobe<dot>com

Adobe Story super slow after last update - PC & Mac

Hi,
Adobe Story has become very unresponsive after the last update. I've found this on my Macbook Pro and my work PC which has 24GB of RAM. In fact, I can barely surf the web on my Macbook Pro if Story is open now. It generally takes about 5 seconds for Story to respond when I type, change between applications, and scroll up or down.
I know this was an issue with a release in 2011. Has something similar happened again?

I have tried both online and offline. Makes no difference. I think it’s actually becoming worse. Strange that it affects both my Mac at home and my PC at work. When I ran it on Mac last night, Story was using nearly all 4GB of my RAM.
Connect isn’t good for me this week. I’ll see if the problem persists and contact you next week.

Adobe Story Script Suddenly lost the update?

I've been working on a script in Adobe Story (in my browser) for a few days and I went back to work on it today after working on it last night, and it went from 16 pages, to 6. Someone PLEASE help me!

Did you check in Story desktop version when it showed 6 pages? Story Desktop syncs with the online app (in which you were working) when you go 'online' so its possible that Story desktop has an older version of your script.
Also, can you please check the script's history in your browser version (if you are seeing the issue there) and see the versions to check for your data.
