Adobe tells me EVERY adobe file I try to open is damaged?
Every time I try to open any adobe files I get an error telling me the files damaged or incompatible. I know these should open as none of my other class mates have issues opening the files.
What is your operating system? Reader version?
Can you open such a PDF file in a text editor, then copy and paste the first few lines here in the forum?

Hi Jenny, I just had to do that, for the 3rd time. It is a pity though when one pays for such expensive software that this happens, specifically when the only Adobe help is to tell you to post your problem on a forum and hope someone can help you. Not good enough and not what I expected when I bought it. I am so disappointed in Adobe.

That's the problem, then. The files are under your 'old' user account. You should be able to access them if you log into your old account. However, that's not going to let you move them to your new user account. It's for situations like this that I always create a root user account (although I seldom access it). With a root user account, you can copy files from one user account to another. Note that someone may come up with a better idea than what I would use, but here goes.
Read http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1528 and set up a root user. Then you can transfer files from one account to another. If you like, you can delete this account after you've moved your files.

When I save a pdf file and try to open it I get an error message, "Adobe Reader could not open 'file name.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)."
When I try to open it with Preview I get this message, "file name.pdf” could not be opened because it is empty."
I am running Maverick OS X 10.9.1. What's up with this?Good question (I'm not a Mac guy these days).
But Adobe Reader is only viewing the file as it has been saved. If it happens to all pdf files from all sources, I would begin to investigate your OS (and possible permissions but I'm not sure) maybe in the Apple forums. -

I was today invited to upgrade my iTunes when I logged on. Update failed. Every time I now try to open iTunes I get error messages. Second message reads "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please re-install iTunes. Error 7. Windows error 126". I now can't sync my iPhoneand I am worried that if I re-install I will lose all my contacts,calendar, notes, etc.
I too had this problems (Windows 8.1). A few weeks ago after the previous update before this version of itunes, I'd had a problem with the itunes store crashing and at that time I followed instructions to copy QTMovieWin.dll to the itunes folder, which fixed the store crashing.
Today I fixed the problem by:
Delete QTMovieWin.dll from C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes.
Uninstall ALL Apple Software using Control Panel / Programs and Features. I uninstalled:
iTunes
QuickTime
Apple Mobile Device Support
Apple Application Support
Apple Software Update
Bonjour
Delete the folders:
C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple
Restart the computer
Reinstall QuickTime
Reinstall iTunes
Everything works GREAT now, including the iTunes store. You will not lose your media files, I got everything back, all my settings, playlists, etc. -
my mail app on I phone 4s crashes every time when i try to open, and i can see it thru the setting>general. also phone is overheating and spending battery fast. does any one has some answer on this or same issue? what to do did any has same issue? if i do an complete phone restore what will hapend ?
You can call Verizon to replace it or go to an applestore to replace it since it won't even power on with multiple chargers.

Adobe reader XL 11 crashes everytime I try to open it.
Every time I try to open Adobe reader, it crashes. I have re installed it, re booted the computer and nothing. I get the same message "Adobe reader has stopped working". I am using windows & professional and I do not want goggle chrome.
Can you open Adobe Reader by itself? If so, try to disable Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].

Iphoto dies every time when I try to open it

Shut down and restart your computer, and then open iPhoto again. If the problem persists, try rebuilding your photo library. To do this, quit iPhoto, and then reopen it while keeping the Option and Command keys pressed. You can also try restoring your photo library from a backup.Did you try rebuilding as per your ps2?

Firefox is crashing every single time I try and open it
After using Firefox on my laptops for years proble free a few days ago it started crashing every single time I tried to open it,The web page opens for about one second then crashes and I get the crash report dialogue box this happens in safe mode as well. I do not have time to do any editing to my browser page as it crashes within a second. I have uninsalled and reinstalled Firefox 3.68 and have just downloaded the beta 4 to see if that might work but same problem.IE works fine and from there have tried to load dozens of websites on firefox as firefox is my default browser. As I have said the site loads no problem but instantly crashes. Very grateful for any help

Nearly every single application I try to open, crashes straight away.
I am really quite worried now. I did something really stupid. I thought the Mac OS X install disc that came with my macbook was an updated version, so I tried to install Mac OS X with that disc, not realising my macbook already had an up to date version.
So midway through the installation,having just realised this, I restarted the computer, quitting the installation. After start up, I try to open Microsoft Messenger and an error message comes up saying "The application Microsoft Messenger quit unexpectedly" and when I try to relaunch it, the same thing happens. The application never actually starts up. The same happens with iChat, mail, iCal and a Last.fm application. Everything was fine before, I am worried I have somehow really messed things up.

How do I get inDesign to quit crashing when I try to open a damaged document?
Alright, I'm in a bit of a pinch and behind on deadline because of something completely random and out of the blue happening with inDesign. Here's what happened:
I was working on a magazine layout and printed out a PDF draft. The draft looked normal. I saved, shut my computer, walked away, and came back 30 minutes later to find that 9 pages had gone almost completely blank - even the locked layers were gone. I checked the layers and they were still locked. I thought my content had gotten erased somehow. Then I looked again and saw an overseer text symbol in the middle of one of the spreads. I clicked it and was able to enlarge it somewhat. Doing this gave me the spinning color wheel of doom (I have a Mac running off of Maverick now), and every little zoom and mouse movement gave this result that lasted about 3 minutes at a time. I tried saving again (got the spinning color wheel of doom), then shut down inDesign, and tried again. Same thing happened, only this time I got an automatic recovery notice when it opened. Everything else looked normal. I noticed that the content that had been squished was actually also at a skewed angle as well, like it had been rotated at some strange 3D plane. The story board would also expand to 10 times the normal size every time I tried to move the skewed, overset content. I shut everything down again and restarted my computer. Only this time, whenever I tried to open the problematic document, it would give me the auto recovery request, then promptly crash when I clicked "Yes" for auto recover. I tried multiple times now to open the document, thinking maybe I could just wipe those pages and start over again, but it crashes every time.
Nothing like this has ever happened to me before. I have no idea how this happened, and now it seems like I'm going to loose the entire document, about 40 hours of work. As far as I know, nobody else was near my computer in the 30 minutes it took me to shut it and open it back up again.
Help!
Can anybody shed some light onto this situation? Honestly, I'd be happy to just be able to open the document again so I can erase those problem pages and re-do them... I took screen shots of what inDesign was doing before it crashed:
Here you can see that the "P" in the upper left is all twisted, the same way my content is:
This is a zoomed-out image of how big the storyboard would become when I tried to tweak that overset text/ content...You can try opening the file "as a copy" from the open dialog. You can also try the blind export to .idml: Adobe Community: InDesign 6 is crashing when attempting to open a particular document. All others are opening OK.
and there's a tool for Windows you can try, if you have access to a windows machine: INDDRecovery — a program for restoring corrupted InDesign documents
After that, it's a question of how much money you want to throw at it. Markzware.com has a paid recovery service that will probably work. -
I am running OS X 10.7.5 and Adobe Reader 11.0.02. In the last few days I have been unable to open PDF's downloaded from the web. Reader gives the error message 'There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired'. Removing Reader and trying to use Preview to open these files give the error 'Preview cannot open this file. It may be damaged or use a file format that Preview doesn't recognise' (or something like that). Downloading the same files with Reader removed from my Mac Preview opens the files OK.
I was recently prompted to update Adobe software but did not note exactly what the update was nor when it was done.
Reader and Preview will both open PDFs I downloaded a week ago. Reader will also open files downloaded on another Mac running OS X 10.0.0 and copied to my Mac. Any ideas?Back up all data.

from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.
