Adobe thinks I've already activated CS5 on two computers

So, I have the student version of CS5. I installed it on my PC running Windows XP Professional in March and it ran perfectly fine until July, when I got my first notice that it had "already been activated on two computers" and that I should deactivate one of those before trying to activate it again.
First off, I have no idea why it thinks I have installed CS5 on any other computers. I only have this one machine and I haven't done any reformatting or altering of my system to make it think there's more than one computer floating around here. So, I went on Adobe live chat to see about solving the issue, and with minimal real advice, they just altered my license so that I could reactivate and be on my way. Great.
However not a week later, it happened again. July 15, July 21, and then Aug 3. Same issue every time. I did my best to talk with the folks at Adobe's live chat, but none of them are terribly useful. They simply told me over and over that I had installed it on two other computers even though I only have one and that I need to deactivate one to activate on this one. Nobody gave me any insight as to why Adobe thinks I have 3 computers.
I thought that maybe because it was happening almost weekly that it could be a Windows update causing the issue, but my computer has updated since March and that didn't seem to do anything then. Regardless, I deactivated Automatic Updates for the time being, but I still got the activation notice even after getting the issue "resolved" in chat.
They fixed the issue the first 3 times, but the 4th time they passed me around from agent to agent until finally they said only the senior support staff could help me and that they would email me to further the conversation. This never happened.
Does anybody know what I could do on my end to resolve why I appear to have 3 computers, 2 of which that seem to be happily using CS5, while the 3rd is the only one I seem to be able to use and it cannot?
I paid for this program, it's not working properly, and I'm being treated like I'm trying to steal. Not cool.

Someone else may have stolen your serial number. Unfortunately there's nothing anyone here can do.
You're going to have call Adobe to straighten this out. Please do so and let us know how you make out.
If there's a problem, get a case number and take down names.

I guess the question is how can I listen to all my songs that i bought from my two computers if i want to listen to all of them in one computer. I don't have a network.  Is there a web base site I can do that? or anything else?
    Please help
Songs that you purchase from the iTunes Store are simply files.  They only sit on the computer where you purchase them, until you copy them to another computer.
That is how it works.  There is no web site where you can play all your files.  It's primitive I know, but there may be changes coming.

  • InDesign CS5 on two computers with same settings

Hi.  New to macs and adobe software, so please help if you can.
Have a macbook air and a imac, both running indesign.
Is it possible to have both machine use the same settings, workspace, layout etc. (ie when a change the workspace or preferences on one machine, it will be the same on the other machine)
I understand about library and snippets, but wanting the main preferences, workspace, swatches, preflight etc etc to all be the same on both machines.
I know you can export and import some settings, but this means i have to rememeber to update each computer.
Looking for a way to have both machines access the setting from a common source.
I have an external wireless drive that both machines can access.
    Is this possible???? thanks.

This sounds like a perfect opportunity for cloud-based applications. The app's on neither machine, but accessible to all subscribed users.
You could try installing InDesign on the external drive and starting up from it, instead of the internal drives. Probably there'll be problems because each Mac model installs OS X specifically.
InDesign's able to script startup operations, so you might be able to script copying the settings files from one location to the other, with perhaps a dialog box to confirm/ignore, depending on which location's got the most up-to-date settings. Or, perhaps a shutdown script that copies from each machine's session to "iacsettings" or "airsettings" stored files, and a startup script to choose when launching.

  • Two computers on CS5

I am sure this has been asked before, but the search is not working for me today. I know you can have CS5 on two computers with one license key, like a work desktop and a home laptop. My boss only edits video, and I only work on still images. Can he be working on his computer editing video while I am doing stills on mine, using the same key? Thanks.

Just to clarify, I said single USER.  This appears to be the wording in the EULA that's applicable:
    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
2.5 Portable or Home Computer Use.  Subject to the important restrictions set forth in Section 2.6, the primary user of the Computer on which the Software is installed under Section 2.2 ("Primary User") may install a second copy of the Software for his or her exclusive use on either a portable Computer or a Computer located at his or her home, provided that the Sofwtare on the portable or home Computer is not used at the same time as the Software on the primary Computer.

  • CS4 Design Premium is falsely (I think) claiming I have activated twice already

I'm wondering how I rectify this situation. I don't remember activating my recently purchased brand new full license of CS4 Design Premium more than once already. I have it activated on my desktop, and now I'm trying to activate on my laptop (machine #2) and it wont let me. I had previously installed the software on one other computer but let it run in the 30 day trial mode while I was prepping my new laptop. I don't remember activating this machine, and I have since uninstalled from it. Now when I go to install on my laptop the serial number is accepted but photoshop keeps saying "Excuse the interruption but.." the serial number has already been used to activate on other machines. I have only activated on one other computer. So I have no other computer to deactivate from.
I tried calling the adobe support line and the guy on the phone said he was sorry to inform me that the activation server was currently down and that it could be down for TWO WEEKS. Then he gave me an Adobe phone number to call that was located in the philippines (note this was not a toll free number). What am I supposed to do with this. I'm just hoping someone at Adobe can clear this up for me. I'd be happy if someone could just deactivate whatever two computers it is supposedly activated on already so that I can just run the activation again and hopefully get it to work. Do I need to call the Philippines?!?
Is the Activation server actually currently down?!?
    Any help would be appreciated.

Terrible support from Adobe on such a matter is inexcusable. Two weeks? That's pretty stupid, especially if you happen to be a professional design artist and need this software to make money. The reason it's doing this is because the software is always phoning home when it's connected to the Internet. Even if you've already activated, it still does this for no reason. Provided you have a valid key, all you need to do is edit the HOSTS file on your respective operating system to block activate.adobe.com by redirecting it to 127.0.0.1 (Google specific info about doing this). This will prevent the software from attempting to contact the offline activation servers and should, in theory, allow you to use your software again. It may take a few minutes to take effect.

have a question to ask ... I bought, at the time, the update of Adobe Audition CS6, being already in possession of the CS5.5 version. Since I had to redo the operating system (windows 7 professional 64-bit), reistallando program CS6, with the corresponding serial number in my possession, I noticed a malfunction that is:
importing a musical motif and starting the program, clicking on play, I do not play any pattern or song despite being in operation.
I reinstalled the program, but without any result. What do I do? Thanks.

    Many thanks.
With those symptoms, I'd try the following document:

  • Adobe thinks I have more than two computers

I recently purchased Adobe Creative Suite 4 Production Premium. I only have two Windows computers. One is running 64 bit Vista Ultimate and the other one (a laptop) is running Vista Home Edition. I installed the Adobe suite on both machines without issue. I took my laptop over to Peet's to use it and now when I come home to use it on the other computer, I get a big message box saying:
    Excuse the interruption, but:
Our records indicate that this serial number has already been used to set up and activate Creative Suite 4 Production Premium on two other machines, which is the maximum allowed.
You have 30 days from today to correct this problem.
I called in to the support number and they are showing that it has been activated on 6 different computers now.
The only thing I can think of is that someone at Peet's was able to steal my serial number through some hacker magic maybe eavesdropping over the wireless somehow?
Please help! Is this a known issue or something?
This software was way too expensive to have this happen. I am not a pirate, I didn't give the number to anyone. I didn't expose the serial number anywhere knowingly or accidentally.
    Please help.
One thing I did notice is that the Adobe updater failed to complete it's activities on my 64 bit machine. Sometimes the 64 bit machine has trouble because there are not enough drivers written for it. Maybe it's something like that? Please help.

Sorry to hear about your problem.
    A few observations and questions.
    (1) The Adobe Creative Suite requires Vista Home Premium as a minimum configuration. Hopefully your notebook system is
not running Vista Home Basic. The fact that it installed would indicate that you are probably running Vista Home Premium.
    (2) Exactly where and how did you purchase the CS4 Production Premium? Was it in a sealed box from Adobe or a authorized dealer or was it from eBay or some Warez site?
    (3) The fact that it activated on more than two systems is indicative of at least four of the six systems attempted activation using some type of hacked version of the software.
    (4) Adobe's communication between your system and Adobe for activation is secure, but obviously, someone may have hacked your system to record keystrokes or otherwise capture data from your system.
Assuming that you indeed made your purchase via a reputable source (i.e., either directly from Adobe or from an authorized dealer) and that you have a receipt for your purchase, I would recommend that you contact Adobe Customer Support, explain the situation and your suspicions and offer to send them a copy of your receipt or a fax of same. They should be able to fix the situation via supplying you with a new serial number and let you enter that number on both your installations and let them reactivate with the new serial number. Make sure you get the names of any persons you speak with at Adobe Customer Support and if you encounter any problems ask to speak with a supervisor. (If you still can't get anywhere with those folks, contact me offline via e-mail and I'll see what I can do to assist.)
In the meantime, I would most strongly recommend that you thoroughly scan your system for viruses, trojans, keyloggers, etc. with updated virus scan definitions and with any one of a number of programs such as "SpyBot" (a free spyware scanner) that can search and destroy any problematic crud that may be infecting your system. You should also make sure you have effective firewall software if you frequent public WiFi locations.

  • Activation fails - Already Activated on 2 devices  - but it's not!

    HI
I have a new sealed Acrobat X Standard CD that Adobe won't accept the serial since they think it's already been activated twice and yet I've never opened/installed it before...
I tried it on a new machine earlier today but same already installed response when it first loads. The CD was sealed and definitely new and unused. I tried registering it to one of my Adobe IDs afterwards and that went okay. Still won't accept serial though.
Prior to that the only full copy of Acrobat I have ever had was V8 back in 2008 or so on an iMac I no longer have. That is registered to my Adobe ID but no other instances of  Acrobat are (up until a few hours ago anyway).
    Help!
    Tony

Where did you get your AA X? It may be that you got ripped off and bought a pirated copy.

  • Cannot deploy EAR.  There are already active sessions

    Hi WebDyn Pro's,
    I'm running NW SP14
Sporadically, I cannot deploy my WebDynpro app to the NW server.  In NWDS, I indicate to Deploy and run.  I get an error in the console indicating:
<b>"Cannot log in.  There are already active sessions.  Session id 0 An administrator logged in via API /"</b>
I restarted the server and the NWDS workstations but that didn't help.  I've had this same error in the past.  Usually it goes away.  I thought I solved it, but evidently not.
On the NW server, I cannot log into SDM GUI either.  I get the same error.
As mentioned above, this error occurs sporadically.  I can deploy just fine 50 times.  And then all of sudden I start getting this error, even though no one has touched the server.
    Thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Kevin

    Hi,
Have you checked if anyone else is actually using SDM to deploy?
There are some quite significant deployment tasks that my basis team perform which will occupy the SDM tool for a long time and stop me and my other developers from deploying anything.
I've also caused this problem myself when my SDM deployment has stalled - I've been deploying a custom B2B .ear file and the deployment has just got stuck in processing for ages.  In the end I've had to kill the SDM task from Windows Task Manager but this causes SDM to think someone is still logged in so I've then had to restart the SDM service from the SAP Management Console.
If this is not the case I'd suggest raising it through OSS if you can't find any relevant messages on there.
    Hope this helps,
    Gareth Ryan.

  • Already activated Photoshop Elements 9 on two computers and one computer died

Hi,  I am having trouble reactivating Photoshop elements 9 on a new laptop I bought. I had already installed the program on my desktop and on my old laptop, which has unfortunately died and was unable to be restarted to deactivate the program. I have now purchased a new laptop and am unable to activate photoshop as it has already been activated on 2 computers. I am aware that you can only activate on two computers. Is anyone able to assist with this issue.

You will need to contact activation support:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-deactivation-products.html
Most times you can start a chat session right in that window and get it taken care of right away.
