Adobe Ultra (Virtual Sets)

Hopefully you guys don't shoot me for posting this here, but since all's that's left of Adobe Ultra is sitting in Premiere, I figured this is as close as it will get.
Hoping some of you legacy people can help me. I need to resurrect my CS3 to bring back Ultra for some virual sets for a hokey kids' show. I dusted off my CS3 discs and looked for Ultra, but couldn't find it in the list of programs to install. So I installed all of them one by one hoping AE or PP would have Ultra... well, now I have all of CS3 installed, but NO ULTRA.
Do any of you remember if that was on a separate disk than the CS3 DVDs?
I would have posted it in the Ultra CS3 forum (if it existed), but I figure even if it DID exist, it's probably not getting a whole lot of traffic these days.

Yup. I believe the disc itself is green... hopefully it didn't key itself out.
Dang! That's probably what happened. Good thing I keyed it with Ultra so I can look for the halo around the edge. Thanks Colin.

Virtual Set Discs and Premium Content Disc...what do I do with them?

I recently installed Adobe CS3. But, much like when I work on a car, I have extra stuff left over...
I installed the Adobe Virtual Set Disc 1 but I have Virtual Set discs 2, 3 and 4 left. Where do these go (as it seems they are just content)?
I also have a Production Premium Content disc left as well.

As I said, you need to move this stuff manually. I don't have AE, so I don't know what that stuff looks like, but there is often a little documentation tucked in here and there to tell you what's what, or at least there has been in the past.
To figure out where things might go, look at the file extension, then search your hard drive for *.[ext] and see what other files of that type are installed, and where.
This stuff is extra, mostly advanced or special use, and not required by most users.

Building Virtual Sets with After Effects?

A friend and I are wanting to build a virtual set using images created from Photoshop CS5, and then taking them in to Adobe After Effects to create the virtual framework for the sets. We found a video on youtube that led us to believe that we have the capability to do exactly what we are asking for. So I suppose my question is there any tutorial or information about how I can make the 3-dimensional compositing of my photoshopped walls? Please please help! Below is the video of what we are trying to do, but the original creator didn't want to create the 2nd part of the tutorial.

The biggest problem you'll face with virtual sets is matching the perspective. An equally large elephant in the room would be matching any camera movement. Even a simpla pan can totally destroy the illustion.
Start off simple with a locked off camera and something in the shot that you can use to match perspective. Don't zoom. Don't pan. If you need more than one angle then cut between positions.
Planing is the key. I'll say that again. Planning is the key. An example of your created set would help us give you some advice on how to create the illustion. It would also be helpful to know if you know anything about keying, light wraps, and color correction. All of these skills are required if you are going to make a virtual set work well.

Adobe creative cloud set up to install on a mac with parallels windows 8

Unfortunately it is not possible to install the program it always displays an error message. how can you loess the problem?
error message: This application can not be run from a network drive-. copy it to a local folder and strarten it again.

I have just the regular version, not Professional.
I mean "les integrated", in the sense that you really run Fusion "in a window". The more "integrated" approach means that Windows applications run as if they were for the Mac, and you do not see the Windows interface at all. I personnaly think tjat is too confusing. There is nothing wrong with it, just a bit more confusing. i like having it clear that Windows is in a seperate Window.

Manage multiple Adobe Type Kit sets

Is there a way to manage or see my teams Adobe Type Kit sets from the plan administrator's console? If not do you have a method or recommendation for monitoring or consolidating the Adobe Type Kit sets across multiple users?

Thanks for your interest in Typekit! Typekit accounts accounts are each intended to be used by a single individual; it is not possible to combine them into one subscription.
Each user will manage his or her Typekit settings from the Account Settings page on typekit.com. If you need details on a particular kit (set of web fonts), the user who owns the account will be able to retrieve that information for the Kit Editor.

Acrobat Distiller Adobe PDF default setting changes mysteriously

I am using Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Professional on a Windows XP PC. On numerous occasions, my Acrobat Distiller Adobe PDF default setting changes mysteriously from "High Quality" to "PDFX1a". I do not know what is causing the default setting to change automatically. Would you know some possible causes? Thanks for your help.

Have you tried repairing the Acrobat installation and checked?
I would also recommend updating to version 9.5.5 and check.

Uninstalling Adobe Ultra in CS3?

I have CS3 production premium that I bought through student licensing. If I uninstall Adobe Ultra, because I have no use for it, will it:
a) Give me any problems with product activation, etc. for the rest of the package
or
b) Be easy to reinstall it at a later date if by any chance I happen to want to use it?

Uninstalling ultra should not cause problems for either. I haven't
uninstalled Ultra, but I have with others and it caused no problem.

I don't have a PPD Adobe PDF 8 setting, HELP!

I'm on a crunch deadline, and recently switched to a new computer. I have to make a post script file for a newspaper with seperations. However, every time I do, the PDF default to an 8half by 11 inch pdf. The ad is full page newspaper, so obviously, I'm missing alot of ad.
I think I narrowed it down to setting my PPD in the Print Dialog to Adobe PDF 8.0. Unfortunately, it's not there. How can I get it? Or what must I do to make my seperation postscript come out correctly sized?
Please help, I only have a few hours before this is due!

 I can now say with some confidence that the problem you have with not seeing Adobe PDF 8 in the Printer pop up in the Print dialog is not a Leopard problem. Let me explain.
 
 I posed the following question with a Preps Tech support person:
 
 "I  simply want to know if Adobe PDF 8 (as installed by Acrobat Pro
 8.1.2) shows up in the Print pop up button in the InDesign Print
 dialog in *Leopard*? I cannot test that myself, as I do not have
 Leopard yet."
 
 and received the following reply:
 
 "Yes, I believe it does. Heres a screen capture of the evidence.

 In the same exchange with this support person, I learned that the virtual printer method that I was offering you indeed does NOT work in Leopard, so it would not have worked for you. But the method you were referring to in your original post should work in Leopard. So there is something else malfunctioning in you set up.
 
 Not what you wanted to hear, at least now you can pursue the real problem. I does seem like Adobe is not at fault here.

Because HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Printers\Ad obe PDF\ is the dir where to set the property of Adobe PDF printer when windows load it , this is experience, no documentation(or i don't find) , perhaps there will be other registry itemes which does not list in that dir ,but i don't know , that is why i think it just like what you have said ' It looks very like a "discovery" rather than a policy ' . For this reason , i want to realize it by adobe acrobat SDK programming ,but now the second way is impossible. Thank you again !

Poor interface with Adobe CS4 and setting the file size for emails

In frustrations over an unfixed bug in iPhoto (slide shows) in addition to too many limitations, I am trying out Aperture. So far it has been a big disappointment. I like Photoshop (CS4) with layers etc. as well as Adobe Camera Raw, both of which I intend to continue using. The workflow in Aperture appears disappointing (Photoshop) and totally absent (Adobe Camera Raw). It seems like Apple's attempt to capture some of Adobe's market share has has happened on the consumer's expense? Besides disappointing functionality, I have run into a surprising problem: No matter how I set the email photo export preset in preferences, the attachment shows up as a large file when exported to Entourage. The size does not change no matter how I set this preference.
My 21 years of loyalty and enthusiasm towards Apple has taken some heavy blows lately. With some 15000 photos and 35+ albums in iPhoto, I don't see too many alternatives. Can someone tell me if there is a way around these problems.

First of all I am not comparing Aperture to Photoshop by expecting the layers function. It is the interface between the two I am questioning. We obviously also have different expectations to Aperture. Mine are solely based on my experiences with iPhoto and what Apple tells me on their website:" Aperture 3 is a professional photography application that lets you refine images, showcase your photography, and manage massive photo libraries. Aperture 3 gives you all the easy-to-use tools you need to import, organize, compare, enhance, and share your photos." I do not find a single sentence stating that it is primarily a "Raw image editor processor" as you are defining it. I was not looking for a new raw editor. I was, however, based on Apple's claims above, expecting a combined advanced editing an photo library application. As such I also expected layers. That is not comparing it to Photoshop. Naturally our views are based on expectations and experiences, and ours are just different, that is all.

Adobe plugin cannot set Page Display Preferences

I have a lot of scanned documents and read them within IE 6.0 through a web interface using a custom solution. I have to use IE 6.0 so I can't just upgrade or use another browser, unfortunately. The issue is that now, all of a sudden, the documents open up in Fit Page view instead of Fit Width view. I have set preferences in the Adobe Reader application and tried to change them in the plugin window, but it never keeps it's settings. I have tried Adobe reader versions 6, 8, & 9 and they all do the same thing. I have tried changing the setting in the plugin then closeing everything and rebooting, but it still doesn't keep the settings. Is there a configuration file or a registry setting for the plugin that I can force a value? I've been working on this for weeks now and I can't think of anything else I can try.

Hi,
When you say Air setting do you mean creating an Air App ?
If so when you select new flex project from the menu you have a choice to have an AIR app or a Flex app.
You can also change an existing Flex app to an AIR app but not the other way around. This is done by right clicking on the project in the package explorer panel and selecting change "project type".

Anybody familiar with the details of implementing the Adobe PDF virtual printer?

We need to implement a virtual printer similar to the legendary one by Adobe. The images processed by it will be detailed CAD drawing.
Can a kind soul point me in the appropriate direction? For starters: what type of data (what format) is the virtual printer expected to receive?
This will be for Windows.

Well... it isn't really a data format. A device driver (which includes a printer driver) provides a number of callbacks which correspond to the graphical calls made by a printing program. (At least, that's how it was when I looked into it a very long time ago). A driver might be asked to draw lines or boxes, to output text with particular fonts and attributes, or to accept a variety of raster graphics. This is something for an experienced programmer, or team, already very familiar with Windows graphic models such as GDI: device drivers are not easy to develop or debug, and because they run with special privileges; bugs in them have the potential to completely crash the system (blue screen of death) (although I read of something called "user mode drivers" which might be safer).
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/gg463348.aspx is a place where some of this seems to be discussed. I don't know whether you have to sign up with Microsoft. You might, because recent OSs will only install signed drivers.
Updated: if you still want to make a PDF, this is an enormous task, so big that Adobe dropped the two drivers they once had. Adobe don't even write the Adobe PDF driver. Rather, they use the operating system's PostScript driver, then convert PostScript to PDF using Distiller, a tool they conveniently already had. Adobe provide what I think is called a "print monitor" (?) that takes the output from the driver once it is fully formatted. If you can process PostScript you could do the same. (Note: a PostScript interpreter from scratch is a considerably larger task than a print driver, so that isn't an easy option; look at 5-10 person years if the people are sufficiently skilled).
