Adobe Update Notification

How do I stop the Adobe update notification from popping up ever time I open my browser or a new browser tab?

What does it say, in full?
Does it go away if you allow an update?

  • How do I activate the Adobe update notification icon on my Top Toolbar?

    Hi,
I am running Design Premium on Snow Leopard.  A friend also has Design Premium and on his system a small "A" Adobe icon with a number next to it appears on the toolbar at the top of the display when Updates are available from adobe for any of his creative suite applications.
Where in Design Premium do I need to go to activate this notification feature on my Mac?

If the CS5 updater is not showing up on the toolbar how would
    I go about re-activating it?

  • Disable Adobe Reader 9 update notification

I've searched for a way to disable the update notification for Adobe Reader 9, Linux, But - I'm unable to find a working solution.
How can those notifications be disabled?

Thanks but we have already deployed Adobe 9 using a MSI package.
I need assistance with updating or applying the AdbeRdrUpd931_all_incr.msp to 160+ users.

  • Adobe flash player update notification

I have the latest version of Google Chrome on a Mac OSX.  I just got this pop-up on my screen. Is it legitimate, or might it contain malware? Is

Personally, I don't trust update notifications from ANY software. Call me a cynic or a control freak, I'm probably both. If something "pops up" a notification, I'll go directly to their website and download whatever is available, but....
In your system preferences, there is a Flash Player Preference Pane. Under the "Advanced" tab, you can SEE your version, and check for updates through the updater.

  • Windows 7 Crashes.. Boots and wants Adobe Update.

The last few [auto] updates from Adobe has caused a system lockup and sometimes blue-screens. I have updates disabled now, tiering down options from full-auto to "don't do anything".
I run Windows 7 64 Bit on an AMD quad-core, 8 gigs of memory, and 4x500GB striped array (300GB for system partition).
The sequence of events has been as follows:
1> System freezes then (maybe) blue-screens
    2> Reboot system
3> Once I logon Adobe would popup an update notification
My activities vary, but most often I am just watching video with VLC player.
Currently I do not have any auto-update selected, however, after updating Adobe Flash Player my system is not freezing [seemingly] randomly again.  The problem this time did not begin until Adobe's most recent update was posted; or as it would seem after going back through the past few weeks troubleshooting this "jack-in-the-box" problem.
It has been very consistent that over the past year system lockups have all pointed back to Adobe Flash needing an update, even if the updater is disabled. I would love to remove Flash at this point but unfortunately Seagate has put faith in it and is required to access my NAS.  I removed Adobe from my other system that was having the same issue and it has not frozen since (very disturbing when 2 desktop systems freeze almost simultaneously / problem begins on the same date when nothing has been changed on he system -- my other system is a video surveillance server and is on 24/7).
I have waited to post this for months until I was certain Flash needing an update was in fact the issue (basically it is to the point of ridiculously not fixed), so here I am. This lockup issue comes, Adobe is updated, and issue goes away.  Even more frustring that this happens while I am programming so losing work is never fun, especially due to something as mundane as an application update.
It strikes me as odd that the Installer/uninstaller (FlashUtil...) is running.... Why is the installer/uninstaller running if the updates have been disabled? (sigh)
So what's really going on here?

Can you post the details about the blue screens you are getting?
Also, what is your display adapter, device driver version & date?  See http://forums.adobe.com/thread/945765
Regarding the auto-updates, can you post the contents of your mms.cfg file in C:\WINDOWS\syswow64\Macromed\Flash

  • How do I get Adobe Updater to recognize it's package has already been installed?

Every day, despite having already installed Adobe Reader 10.1.10, I am getting notifications to run Adobe Updater. When I do so, it offers to install 10.1.10 despite the fact that that version is already installed. I've let it proceed numerous times but the nag keeps coming. I'm on a Mac running OS X 10.9.3.
    Thanks,

  • Update Notification Download Button Issue

    Hi,
Not really sure if this should be in the General area or in the Bugs & Issues area... so please moderator(s) please move this if it needs it...
Was just informed about an update to the Flash Player ... so hit the download and ran the installer... it started to automatically download McAfee Scan Program, (which I did not, nor have I ever included for download/installation) ....
The download button on the update notifier should be pointed to the page where it asks if you want the McAfee software as well... it does not currently do this. is automatically download the installer that calls for both the McAfee and Flash Player to download and install...
This is a backhanded method to have unwanted software installed on a consumer's computer...
I recommended updating the download button to stop at the page that asks if you want the McAfee sofware as well
    Just my 2 cents...

unfortunately no i didnt think to screencap this, nor had i thought to do it as it took me my surprise when it happened and i didnt think to deliberately duplicate the issue... but i can try to explain the process step by step that I personally encountered....
I rebooted my machine (well i had a stack dump and it decided it was time... gotta love windows)...
during the startup sequence the update notification window came up with a download button on it... just saying there's a flash player update and do you want to download it...
so sure hit the download button thinking it was one of those hotfixes that already downloaded and it would just apply it like it usually when say shockwave updates...
however instead it opened a "would you like to save this exe file to your computer" dialog box thru firefox and so said go for it... and it downloaded it...
i then went into windows explorer and launched it ... it started the download process of the flash player software... no problem...
then about 25% of the way through that another progress bar comes up telling me its now downloading the McAfee scanner software and i'm like 'oh hell no' and cancelled the download/installation/update process...
doing this cancellation brought me to a webpage at adobe saying that installation failed ... so i manually went to the flashplayer download page and UNCHECKED the mcafee option and then proceeded to try all over again...
it worked fine the second time doing it manually that way...
when it asked me to save this new exe file, i swear it was named exactly the same as the bundled software version ... i attempted to check but when i cancelled the original BAD install/upgrade attempt it deleted the original install/update file that i had downloaded... and it didnt send it the recycle bin either... as i checked
(same thing happened after the successful install of the non-bundled upgrade/installation ... it too vanished after it was done)
anyways... that's what happened to me... then i came here in a huff
hope this was a little helpful ... i'll be sure to fire up comtasia or some other screen capture video software next time i see that upgrade dialog box and send you a video if it happens again LOL

  • Adobe Updater keeps doing the same update (CS4 Air 1.5)

Every time I run Adobe Updater it finds the same 100 Mb update - Flash 10.0.0.1 Adobe AIR 1.5 Update. Then, it downloads it and installs it. It notifies me that the installing process was completed. But when I run the Adobe Updater again, there is the same update. And it just goes on and on. I've even tried logging in as root and running the updater in case it needs to modify something outside normal bounds but it didn't help.
Does anyone have suggestions as to where the problem might be? I know some of you really prefer to install everything manually but I'm still considering that the last resort - if I can get the automatic updater to work, I'm a happy camper again!
Macbook Late 2007 2.2GHz Dual core duo santa rosa 4 Gb RAM 160 Gb HD with 26 free, OS X 10.5.6 with CS4 Design Premium INT ENG

The update will not affect the splash screen or About Page
    version number.
For a quick check you can try creating an AIR package or an
AIR preview. If everything works smooth then the installation would
    have been a success.
The other details related to installation on a Mac should be
seen on all other Adobe app and not restricted to Fireworks alone.
    Thanks

  • Bug in Adobe Updater

I think, that adobe updater is misleading users. The button "Download" should actually be called "Open browser to download"
My computer has crashed due to unrelated problem, making me not very happy already. After computer has restarted, the first thing I've noticed was Adobe Update Downloader, which offered me to install the latest version of flash player. I expected that the software would download and install the update, but instead it launched my browser, which had 25+ active tabs from previous session. Is it so difficult to make a warning, that updater is going to start browser instead?
Ideally, of course, there should be single unified updater, which can update all Adobe applications...

Ideally, of course, there should be single unified updater, which can update all Adobe applications...
For PAID Adobe apps, there is.
For "freeware", it doesn't work that way.
If you pay $2400 for a Creative Suite, then Adobe will make sure ALL the apps your paid for are up to date. At least ALL of them that you installed, anyway.
Not everyone uses freeware. And there are multiple versions of things like Flash Player and Shockwave, that would require more development into a "unified updater" than giving them away warrants from a financial standpoint. Flash Player, AIR, Shockwave, and Reader are downloaded millions of times worldwide every day. Nobody pays for any of that.
There are "offline installers" that require no downloader, and can be easily bookmarked for your reference when you see an "update" notification.
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)

And a FYI... It's not wise to have your browser set to reopen tabs when your start or restart it.
    1. It's hard on your system - like turning on your lights, wipers, radio, A/C, and heater, and THEN trying to start your car.
    2. it's unsafe, especially if you have logged in pages set to reload. Someone gets on your system and your data can be compromised online.

  • How do I remove the Adobe updater from the Mac menu bar?

I would like to remove the Adobe Updater from my menu bar for my Mac, I found a lot of instruction to remove it for other versions of the updater, but the I can't find that option in the new CS6 updater.
If there is a way to completely stop the updater from running, that would be useful too.
I also don't understand why the updater say "4" in the menu bar, I only have Photoshop installed, and there are no update avaiable.

I am one of the many for whom Application Manager just started to crash every time I tried to open it. I was also getting the 'trial' dialog box, then a request for a serial number, even though I subscribe to Creative Cloud.
After hours with Adobe Tech Support, I have gone the around-your-elbow-to-get-to-your-mouth method of creating a second user and installing CC apps there...hopefully this is temporary situation, but a girl has to work.
My question is this: how do I remove the updater notifications from the menu bar [original user] if I can't open Application Manager? It crashes every time...besides, Tech Support had me send it to the trash and delete it. I went to my other user ID, updated all, but I'm still showing the annoying update badge in my original menu bar. [Altho' Camera Raw failed to update...that's another issue]
Please advise. I had CS5.5 Design Premium...maybe it would be easier just to upgrade that to CS6 and ditch Creative Cloud!
    Thanks in advance.

  • Disable adobe updater

Is there a way to disable adobe update4? I thought I did and it just showed up on my menu bar.
It seems to affect my photoshop by showing a strange "A" like symbol that flashes on occasion while in Photoshop.
       Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
Then you should get the Adobe Update Manager:
Click on the Preferences label (upper right). This will change the page to:
Now uncheck the first box on the left side if you want to turn all notifications off. If you just want notification for one or a couple of the products, just leave only that one(s) checked on the right side.
    regards,
    steve

  • Not sure if I still receive Update Notifications.

    Hello,
My first problem was that I had two Updater Notifications in the Mac menu bar, the one from CC and the old one (showing a notification of an available Photoshop CC update.
To get rid of the old updater icon I did the following, which I found on the internet: "Rename Applications/Utilities/Adobe Creative Cloud/ACC/Creative Cloud.app temporarily, then you can open the old Updater and disable." I did that, though in the settings of the old updater I also disabled everything from "Show Updates from the following products" and disabled all apps. The old updater disappeared, but the Create Cloud App also doesn't show me the update for Photoshop anymore, saying I'm "up to date". Though before I did that there WAS an update for Photoshop, thus the two updater icons in the menu bar.
Now that the old updater icon is gone I cannot access the settings from the old updater anymore to again check showing the updates of all programs, and in the CC app I cannot find this setting. What should I do?
    Thanks in advance!

PS: I'm on Mac OS X 10.10 and also tried reinstalling Creative Cloud.
Also, maybe my Photoshop really is up-to-date (though not sure then where the update notification before was coming from).
Where can I find the information on the latest version (version number etc) to compare with my version?
    Thanks again in advance!

  • Re: Adobe updates

EVERY time I receive notification of an Adobe update, I try to download it w/o also downloading Google Chrome and Google Toolbar. I don't see that it can be done!  I use Adobe Reader, etc.,
and Google Search all the time, but I'm extremely tired of using MY time to get rid of Google-anything-but-Search Engine. I don't LIKE Google Chrome, and I'm about to stop using Adobe because of your insistance I should have it and use it!  I've got enough crap on my computer w/o adding more crap I don't WANT!
STOP TAKING MY CHOICES AWAY BY SHOVING GOOGLE CHROME and a GOOGLE TOOLBAR IN WITH ADOBE-anything UPDATES!

I also don't like Google Chrome, so I uncheck the checkbox before downloading the installer.
Actually I always download the offline installers for Adobe Reader and Flash Player, which are not bundled with any 3rd-party software.

  • My is Adobe Updater broken?

    Hi guys,
My Adobe CS3 Updater is broken for some reason or another. It has been asking me to update to Adobe Acrobat 8.1 for a while now. Each time I accept for it to update, the thing does not actually work. Whatever happens, is is a continual loop of broken notification and updating. I know this whole thing is being caused by a corrupt file somewhere, I just do not know which one it is and where I can find it.
This should be a very simple problem to fix.
    Thanks in advance,
    Liberator.

Sorry, I should have been more clear in what has happened, and what I have tried.
This update problem has been happening for a while. This has also not been the first problem to do with things being broken on this computer. Finder, system preferences and Safari (among others) have all been partially broken before. These problems have been in contrast to another account on the same computer that has had no problems with anything. The Adobe Updater for the Acrobat 8.1.4 update was done successfully. Acrobat (on the other account) is now more updated; it is currently at 8.1.5. No matter how many times I click on "Install", the update does not work. I was initially thinking it was a permissions and an Adobe + system files corruption, or at least something like that. I am still thinking that, although of course I cannot fix the problem myself.
    Thanks, Lib.
