  • Adobe updater stalls during installation (Mac)

We bought CS3 premium a couple months ago and have tried to use the auto update from Adobe. Unfortunately after downloading the new version of RAW the updater hangs up and never completes. It is the only CS app that does this.
It's kind of an old Mac, but it has 10.4.11 on it and enough disk space.
    Any suggestions?

Adobe Updater is a piece of ****. It only works when you are the first user created on the system and it does not work when filevault is enabled. Amazing how they can get that program so crappy. It is hard to do this wrong. Just download directly and apply the updaters by hand.

  • Adobe Updater in PE4 on Mac OSX

I am using PE4.0.1 on a G4 iMac and PB both running OSX 10.5.6. When I open PE on both machines I get the message "The Adobe Updater could not be started. Please reinstall the application and components". The Updater is on my HD under Utilities but only seems to try to update Reader and I can't change its preferences. Is this something I should bother about? Does it mean reinstalling PE or just the updater itself? I haven't used PE for some weeks but all was ok the last time and it seems odd that this has happened on both my Macs.
    Thanks,
    Geoff.

    Barbara,
I can't get at the updater from PE's Help tab - there is only the
opportunity to "OK" the message. Opening the updater in Mac Utilities
allows me to uncheck Auto update but it isn't making any difference
and the message still appears every time I open PE. Anyway, it's only
indicated as updating Reader, although PE is still obviously looking
    for it.

  • Another failed Adobe update for flash

Once again, what should be a simple installation of the released Flash update for an xp sp3 system caused Flash to fail completely.  I don't have the time or patience to apply your so-called security updates, if you can't devise one that doesn't sabotage the workings of flash for all websites.  Thank goodness I set a restore point on the system before allowing Adobe to update itself.  That has prevented me from hours of headaches I'm sure you'll be reading about in this forum for weeks to come...
Funny that only the updates from Adobe corp seem to encounter this problem with my system, which otherwise works flawlessly...

Hi perpends, just wanted to let you know I did read that entire thread, particularly what you went through. To go through
that you have a lot more patience than you think, or I perhaps should say did have. Looks like you spent a lot.
That is awful that you did not get the proper guidance in solving the FP issue. And no, I don't blame you for not wanting to go thru that again. I wouldn't go thru it either.
On any forum there is a lot of advice that contains much guesswork. To correct any Flash Player problem, there is an orderly process and a step by step series of questions that anyone knowledgable would ask you.  To offer a solution without knowing the problem is just a guess and mostly not even an educated guess. Some think if you try this or try that
and google this or that, everything will just magically fall in place. Far from it, you dig a deeper hole.
Never would I advise you or anyone else seeking help to do or try anything that I myself would not apply to my own computer. The monthly Patch Tuesdays from Microsoft are not downloaded and installed on my computer without researching and reading to understand what they are for and does my computer need them. And I trust Microsoft. But I want to understand the security bulletins, after all it is my computer.
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html This I am sure you know is the Adobe Uninstaller. I am including it not to have you uninstall, but to read it. Prep work is very important. Especially the last 2 notes. The last note is of the utmost
importance, because the "show details" window shows you what is still there (the ActiveX) If you see the old one still there, that means the first Uninstall did not yet remove it, then proceed to follow the instructions on what to do until it is removed. At that time you proceed and not until. It is these details that can make the difference between success and failure and it is here that it is critical. If that old ActiveX is not removed, the Install will fail.
Thanks for listening and I don't mean to make light of what you went through. I knew that when the prompt to install on my computer failed(although I did not do a manual uninstall) I had to apply that. I went to my Flash folder and saw the old ActiveX still there. The Uninstaller did not remove it for some reason or the other, and so I knew I had to.

  • Adobe Updater Wants To Update Reader 9 Which I Don't Have

The Adobe updater program on my Mac keeps up popping up asking me to update Reader v9 which I do not have any longer as I am running the latest version of Reader.  How do I get rid of this annoying reminder?  I don't want to turn off auto update checking since that will affect my current installed Reader.  I'm running on OS X 10.6.

    Hii
Thanks for the quick response, but it didn't solve the problem
Do you have more things that I could try ?
    Thanks for the effort

I cannot view some videos and participate in some websites since Adobe upgraded all to Flash 11.7. I have an older Mac G5 PowerPC (no Intel chip) running OS 10.5.8. I keep getting splash screens saying I have to update to Flash 11.7 but 11.7 is made for those Macs with an Intel chip. I am running the newest Flash for my system. It seems all concerned should have made Flash retro-compatible for those of us with older Macs. Is there a work around to this Flash requirement short of buying a new Mac with the Intel chip?

I'll bet you'll have better luck if you post your question in the Power Mac discussions here: https://discussions.apple.com/community/desktop_computers/power_mac
Either that, or one of the forums at Adobe.
    Good luck.

  • HT1338 i have a mac book pro and, a i cant update my flash player ,why?

every time iwant to see a video on line ,icant it says ihave update my flash player.but then after iget the sofware that this mac itsnot compatibleor i dont know what that means .can somebody give any advise or input on this pls, i really apprecciateit if u would thankx.

It's because your OS 10.4 version is so old that you can't run the latest version of Flash. You are not even running the latest version of Tiger OS 10.4, which is OS 10.4.11.
Don't know if this hack will work on your Mac since it has an Intel processor. But you can try it.

  • Problems since the Update on Flash Player 11.0.1.152 (Mac)

    Hello.
I have some Problems since I updated my Flash Player.
I have a MacBook Pro (Mid 2010 13" 2.66GHz). I played a Flash-Game named Zombie Lane on Google+. Since the Update it judder. A friend of mine has the same Macbook Pro, but a Mid 2011 model. As you maybe know, this model is not mentionable better.
But he does not have the same trouble as me.
If i look at the activitiy-display of the Mac, I can see that the Flash Player uses 80-100% of my CPU with an overall User-Usage of 40-50%. Isn't that a little bit to much?
I also delete the Flash Cache and uninstall Flash to install it again. But that was not a solution.
I hope you can help me...

I have spent countless hours trying to get my flash player working and have tried EVERY kind of possible answer through many forums and websites to solve this. Does adobe have anything currently that will solve this flash player problem?? I have the lastest version of Safari 5.1.1. and I have the lastest version of adobe flash player 11.0.1.152, I have even tried the debugging installs adobe put out for flash player. I have tried the "working around lion flash player video thing" where you try private browsing. I have tried going into system preferences and entering into the flash player settings in the storage tab the allow this sites, etc. NOTHING HAS WORKED!! I still get my local storage pop up message whenever I try and watch a you tube or any site that has flash video on it, that flash player settings box still pops up and is stuck on my screen and I cant click allow or deny or get it off. So many people I have read have the same problem and I only the same answers pop up that I have tried again and again, does anyone have a real resolve to this yet??? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP.

  • Is Using the Automatic Update for Flash Player Safe? It is Installed In System Preferences On My Mac

    Hello-
One day I noticed that there was an icon on my MacBook Pro of Adobe Flash on the last row of system Preferences.  I had never seen it before, and I had ben using Flash for a long time and updating it regularly.
It recently told me there is a newer version.  I did not let it install it because I am having so many problems with viewing Flash Videos on websites.  I have a MacBook Pro, Mac OS X 10.6.8.  I use Safari 5.1.5, the latest as far as I know.
In using this automatic updater for Flash (there are actually several tabs when I click the Adobe icon not just the updater) in the Advanced tab of the Flash Player icon are there any special things I should do if I click yes update?  should I close all the windows, apps, Safari?  do a restart?  I am debating if I should do a Clean Install, wipe all Flash Player off the Mac and just install the latest version rather then letting the updater install the latest version, which I think is 11.2.202.228.  I currently have 11.1.102.64 with a bunch of video issues.
    Thanks for any assistance.

Just installed adobe iplayer for the umpteeth time.
Then decided to have a software update immediately on my mac.
Then a small screen appeared afterwards stating maleware virus removed.
What do I do now? Was not aware that I had a virus in the first place.

That latest update is a removal tool for the Flashback trojan.
One of the ways the earlier versions of that trojan were distributed was through fake Adobe Flash downloaders.
Why are you repeatedly installing Adobe Flash Player? (not iPlayer - that's a BBC thing.)
The only place from which to get the Flash Player plug-in is directly from Adobe themselves - Never Trust a Pop Up that says you have a missing plugin!
Also be aware that the Flash Player is not a standalone player; it's a plug-in which installs in the Library and is available for all the browsers to use.
As for what you do now?
Nothing for the moment - you should be clear.
But to be on the safe side, go to the Prefences for each of your browsers and disable Java (not JavaScript - that's a whole different animal). As Java is the vector used by the most recent versions, that should ensure you don't get reinfected.
