Adobe Updater is blank, won't respond

On my work computer running CS3 on WinXP, the Adobe Updater keeps running each time I restart a program in the suite. There are no updates listed in it, and the Preferences button and Remind Me Later button do nothing. Since this was a new installation on this machine, all the updates have since been run. From what I can tell, there are no others pending.
I've looked through Preferences and I don't see a box to uncheck to stop this from auto running.
How do I turn it off for good, and just run updates manually from now on?

Have you tried the preferences in the updater application?

  • Since Firefox updated yesterday, it won't respond to addresses in the url field or search terms in the search engine field. I can only go to addresses already in my bookmarks.

When I type an address into the url field the browser will not load the page...it just sits there as though waiting for me to press enter. Also it won't respond to the recently used addresses that show in the dropdown menu. It will also not respond when I try to use the search engine field (google). This started yesterday after Firefox automatically updated to version 3.5.9. I don't get an error message, just no response at all.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    See:
    * [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
    * [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
This can also be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

  • Adobe Updater won't respond, won't go away

On my install of Adobe CS4 at work (running WinXP), the Adobe Updater keeps trying to run but it's blank. The buttons will not respond either.
Our IT guy has tried disabling them through the start up file for Windows but it keeps coming back.
I've seen some other discussions on the boards about this but those fixes aren't working for my situation.
Any other suggestions of how to fix this? It's really annoying.

    - If disabling updates in the program do not work or the updater is still trying to run, I have heard of people having great success by deleting C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Updater6 folder and also C:\Documents and Settings\(user name)\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Updater6. I would back up the files just in case but if Updater cant run in the first place it can't crash!Guarantees version control :-)

  • How do I install the FM10 licensing fix when Adobe Update Installer won't run?

Adobe Update Installer won't run so can't install FM10 licensing fix

Because FM10 began crashing with "fatal" errors whenever I tried to generate a TOC for a small (65 page) book, I researched workarounds and none of them worked. Now that I have delivered a crippled deliverable via Acrobat manipulations, I would like to fix FM. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it, got some updates, and then received the "licensing fix" error that popped up in January. I'm wondering why this fix was included not in the updates. That said, the licensing fix package, first, would not unzip so I downloaded it again. I unzipped it but I got a message that Adobe Updater Installer could not run and after several clicks I found that file. I reinstalled Adoble Update Installer but it still does not run.
I am running Windows XP and have TCS 3.5.I uninstalled FM and RH but not Acrobat, Captivate, or Photoshop.
So, now what? Listen to my supervisor who says never use FM again?
P.S. Why do I have to enter a title for my question and then do it again when this page opens??

Give Adobe Support a call or contact the TCS team at [email protected] - something in your environment is causing the installer to fail (I'd guess).

  • I need to update my adobe flash, but mozilla won't let it. I get a message telling me to close mozilla first. ??What's up with this???

I am trying to update my adobe flash. I followed the instructions on your support pages and the adobe update site, but STILL came back with a message to CLOSE MOZILLA BEFORE COMPLETING MY UPDATE. It's an online update. Won't closing my browser hinder that process just a bit? smh... p.s. I don't have internet explorer or google chrome on my pc, as those browsers just allow a lot of crap to find its way into my pc. Please help. thanks.

Download and save the Flash installer to the desktop and close Firefox.<br />
Start the Flash installation with a double-click on the desktop icon.

I use a lot of Adobe PSE products (photography) especially PSE 9.  All of a sudden, the cursor on PSE 9 began to malfunction.  It won't respond to some of the tools, it'll pick the wrong tool, etc. Do I jave to rebuy another new version of PSE 9 or simply move on ?

Reset the tools. Click on the little arrow, top left, on the option bar of one of the tools. That may fix it.
If not, suggest that you reset preferences to default.

  • Since the 10.5.3.3 itunes update Taskbar won't respond PC

    Hi!
So I'm running a Windows 7 64-bit pc and since the latest itunes update whenever I move the mouse down to the taskbar (in auto-hide mode, so i need to scroll over for it to pop up) it won't respond and I have to minimise itunes before I can access it. It's same when it's windowed, even though it's not maximised I have to minimise it to access the taskbar.
It's nothing too major, just an annoyance when I'm flicking between several windows. Any ideas?
    Cheers!

Are you by any chance using a proxy server that works through a .pac file? If so, go to System Preferences>Network>Advanced...>Proxies and disable it, just to see if that helps. I think OS 10.5.3 introduced a javascript incompatibility with proxy .pac servers.

  • Help keep getting that adobe updater won't let me install FProfessional

I keep trying to install the trial version for flash professional. I keep getting that because Adobe updater is running it won't install...  I uninstalled Updater and went to perferences but it still shows the same thing.

The reason I asked why you needed to update the iPod as the usual reason for the update option to be "greyed out" and not selectable is because the iPod already has the current software installed.

  • CS3-Adobe Updater won't go away

Every time I turn on my computer, the Adobe Updater pops up and says:
The following updates are ready to be installed:
However, the box with the list of available updates is totally blank. This has been going on for a LONG time now and it is really bugging me. If I try to check for new updates, the blank box just pops open again. I don't think it actually checks anything so I have no idea if any updates actually exist. Someone please help before I snap and take a sledgehammer to my computer.
    TIA,
    Nancy

    (1) If you are on PC, go to Control Panel and look for Auto Updates or Windows Security Centre.
I have Auto Updates turned OFF but allow the computer to let me know when updates are available and I choose what I want to do.
I do it this way because I have found auto updates can play havoc with my computer sometimes if I haven't created Restore Points.
    (2) when the Adobe Updater window shows up (or you can open from Bridge: Help/Updates), click on Preferences and choose the option you prefer.
You can get it to ask you before downloading if you prefer.
Click ESC to escape the window without doing anything.

  • Adobe updater won't update

I have a notebook and a desktop with Photoshop CS6 on both.  (Windows 7 on the desktop, Windows XP on the notebook.)  Adobe Updater works on the notebook, but when I try to check for updates of Adobe PS on the desktop I get the following message:"The update server is not responding.  The server might be offline...or the Internet or firewall settings may be incorrect."  I have Norton 360.  I have checked the firewall settings and all Adobe items are set to "Allow".  I tried clearing the cache of AUM updater per Adobe help but no difference.

To make sure the update successful, the Extension Manager CS6 GM build (6.0.0.412) or 6.0.1 update (6.0.1.26) or 6.0.2 update (6.0.2.40) should have been installed (You can click menu item "Help"->"About Extension Manager" to know which version you are using) , and all files under the installation folder should be intact. There have been some users in this forum said that they failed to update EM, most of them have deleted non-mother-tongue resource files from Extension Manager installation folder. If the version is not what I mentioned above or you have deleted/modified some files, you will have to reinstall Extension Manager (from http://www.adobe.com/exchange/em_download/) then update it.

That's what I figured from what I've been reading. Will have to see what the cost might be and if it's a worthwhile investment considering the age of the computer.
You can get a first-gen Mac Pro on eBay for around $300. It can run OS 10.4 through 10.7. Something to consider, depending on the cost of a logic board and the hassle of replacing it. You transfer your existing drives, as long as you have a spare external drive. You would clone your G5 drives to the external drive as disk images, then move the G5 drives to the Mac Pro, re-format them GUID, and clone back the contents from the disk images on the external. I did this recently when I retired my G5.

  • Blank Adobe Updater screen

I recently updated Adobe Acrobat Professional to version 8.1.4, and now the Adobe Updater appears every time I log in with a blank screen.  How can I get this to go away without turning off automatic updates (I'd like to be informed when the next update is available).
    Thanks.

    Hi KKid47,
Which Creative Cloud application is not working?
Are you getting any kind of error message?
What operating system you are working?
It would be great if you post a screenshot of the problem.

  • Using adobe updater i can download PS6 update but it won't install.

Using adobe updater i can download PS6 update but it won't install.

I have just had a good chat with an Adobe live chat person.  He has explained to me why I am getting the U44M1P7 error.
I have a perpetual version of CS6 that I bought earlier in the year.   The creative cloud update only applies to versions of CS6 that have been downloaded via creative cloud.  The error means I am trying to update a version of CS6 (my perpetual copy) that has aleady been updated.
I have version 13.0.4   and the update is 13.1.2.     If I want the update I have to uninstall CS6 from my computer (my perpetual version) and download CS6 from creative cloud.  Then I will be able to have the updates.
Hope this helps you.  I haven't ried it yet but will post my results when I do.
