Adobe Updater isn't Updating

Adobe Updater keeps popping up and telling me I have new updates. I click OK, I type in my password, I watch the progress bar fill up, but then instead of installing the updates it just keeps going back to the original window telling me I have new updates. I've tried several times, and restarted my computer, but it never finishes installing the updates.
I tried going directly to the website and downloading the updates there, but when I try to open them my computer says it can't install them because they're from an unrecognized developer.

Hi tornadoallie,
Welcome to Adobe Forums.
Please ensure you have the latest version of the Creative Cloud app installed
Launch Creative Cloud desktop app and click the Settings (gear)icon and select Quit.
Launch the Creative Cloud application. If you are not using the most recent version, a prompt to update will occur. Any version after 1.2.1.260 resolves a known issue with Adobe ID account information conflicts.
To open apps from an unidentified developer follow these steps:
Go to System Preferences.
Go to the 'Security & Privacy' tab.
Set the "Allow applications downloaded from:" to "Anywhere".
Once you've made your changes you can go ahead and exit out of System Preferences altogether
Please reply for any assistance.
Thanks

  • Adobe update isn't finding any updates on a fresh install

Hi, I recently re-installed Adobe CS4 and activated it, and I recall there being a bunch of updates captured by Adobe Updater, but it keeps saying there aren't any, and that "some updates for the following products cannot be determined at this time: Adobe Updater". So I tried downloading and installing adobe updater from adobe.com, and it still gave me the same error.
I understand Adobe doesn't support CS4 anymore, but shouldn't they still be supporting existing patches and updates? Not necessarily making new ones? Like how Microsoft doesn't support XP anymore, but you can still update to SP3 through windows update?

  • Adobe Updater not working for CS4

I have installed CS4 Master Collection on a new Windows 7 PC and it is working, but Adobe Updater isn't working properly. It first installed a few updates that were correct, but now it can't find the remaining updates (which I know exist).
The message is "Please note that some updates for the following products cannot be determined at this time," and then it lists most of the products.
I know that CS4 isn't supported any more, but I would have expected Adobe Updater to at least apply the remaining available patches.
I found another thread where it suggested the updates shown depend on the system clock. (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/913379). I set it to earlier and it briefly found the updates, but it seems to cause Adobe Updater to become unstable, so that hasn't worked for me. There was a suggestion that the Adobe certificate may be out of date (thus the System Clock fix works for some), perhaps Adobe needs to update its certificates?
How can I get Adobe Updater to apply remaining patches? Thanks.

  • Adobe Updater Issue

Forgive me for I do not know where to place this thread.  Anyway, I recently upgraded from CS4 to CS5 Design Premium.  My problem is that when I run Adobe Updater, it's only checking CS4 products which I uninstalled prior to installing CS5 products.  It doesn't recognize that I have CS5 products installed.  Is there anything I can do to reset it so it knows to look for CS5?  Thank you.

Updater 6, I think it's actually 6.02 or something along those lines. I
recently upgraded from CS4 to 5 but I also downloaded the newest updater
from Adobe just to be thorough, but when I run it, it appears to just check
CS4 and Acrobat 9. I'm thinking maybe there isn't a functioning updater for
    CS5 yet?

  • Adobe updater tries to update to an old version

    Hi,
the adobe updater requests a update to Photoshop CS5 to 12.0.4 but ist is allready at level 12.0.5. Same with Ilustrator ist on 15.0.3 and the request is to level 15.0.2. How can I supress this request
    Thanks in advance
    best regards
    Roland

Not that much you can do about it - it's a bug that Adobe rolled out the 12.0.5 security update as a "secret" patch that its own updater isn't even aware of.
Since there are very likely going to be no more updates ever tor Photoshop CS5 you could just disable the updater process through its options settings so it will stop asking.  Seems pretty stupid on Adobe's part to force you to have to do so.

  • Adobe Updater in PE4 on Mac OSX

I am using PE4.0.1 on a G4 iMac and PB both running OSX 10.5.6. When I open PE on both machines I get the message "The Adobe Updater could not be started. Please reinstall the application and components". The Updater is on my HD under Utilities but only seems to try to update Reader and I can't change its preferences. Is this something I should bother about? Does it mean reinstalling PE or just the updater itself? I haven't used PE for some weeks but all was ok the last time and it seems odd that this has happened on both my Macs.
    Thanks,
    Geoff.

    Barbara,
I can't get at the updater from PE's Help tab - there is only the
opportunity to "OK" the message. Opening the updater in Mac Utilities
allows me to uncheck Auto update but it isn't making any difference
and the message still appears every time I open PE. Anyway, it's only
indicated as updating Reader, although PE is still obviously looking
    for it.
    Geoff.

  • Photoshop CS3 10.0 - Adobe Updater Crashes

I have Photoshop CS3 V10.0.  Every time I open my Adobe CS3 a "Problem Report for Adobe Updater" window opens, stating "Adobe Updater quit unexpectedly". It asks me to "Click reopen to open the application again" but doing this has no effect. I'm concerned my PS CS3 isn't being kept up to date, plus it's a real waste of my time each session.  Can anyone help please?

    THANK YOU Mylenium
    That was most helpful
I'm not sure what did it but I followed these directions I found thanks to your suggestion:
I'm not sure what version they are referring to....
    "1.photoshop preference-
    2.general,history states to 1
    3.click on 'next'
4.at the bottom of menu it says..."recent file list contains"
    5.change to "0"
    6. click ok "
I also turned off version cue - My version cue has never worked properly - or at least I get an error message on start-up of the pc
I enabled my 2nd hdd as scratch space and bumped up my ram resources
I deleted the psp file after the crashes started
If I ever figure out what made the difference I'll post it....

  • Adobe Update Server - Web Premium CS5.5 - Error Code: U41M1C213

    Good Afternoon All!
I've just received the site licence for Adobe Web Premium CS5.5 and installing the Adobe Update Server.
I can browse to the xml file on the client (which just displays a number), and I've downloaded all the updates etc. restarted the site... I've deployed the AdobeUpdater.overrides file to the client, but when I try updating I get the following error:
The update server is not responding. The server might be offline
temporarily, or the Internet of firewall settings may be incorrect.
Please try again later. Error Code: U41M1C213
I've looked around online but can't see any reference to this issue.
When I remove the AdobeUpdater.overrides file from the client and try updating again, it finds updates from Adobe, but fails when I put it back.
If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd be extremely grateful... If any more information is needed, just ask.
    Thanks,
    Rick
(p.s. apologies if this isn't in the correct forum/board, there wasn't one for the update server)

    Hi Ralph,
Did you ever find a solution to this issue? I am experiencing a similar issue with the CS5.5 Design and Web Premium installation, failing while installing Illustrator 15.1 and rolling back the installation.

  • Recent Adobe Update.

A few days ago, when I turned on my computer and an Adobe update came up so I accepted the update. About half way through the installation my computer screen wigged out and my computer shut down. Ever since this happened, I haven't been able to turn on my own computer!! I get as far as the Windows 7 logo pulsing, and then my computer restarts and says windows failed to start. I managed to access my computer via safe mode, so I uninstalled all adobe software. But I'm still having the same problem! I've tried restoring the computer, backing up the computer, repairing the computer, nothing is working! I'm a little upset since this update was the cause of my computer's issues.. Does anyone know why this happened or how I can fix it?

I happen to have the application and driver recovery dvd, but I can't get the computer to run the dvd. In safe mode, it says my request isn't supported in safe mode, and during start up repair, the computer won't detect the dvd. Any other suggestions?

  • Adobe Update CS3

    Hi
We're still running Adobe CS3 and whenever we reinstall it for whatever reason we usually download and install the updates again as a single process, via Adobe updater. However right now I've just re-installed CS3 and run Adobe Updater on a laptop and it's saying there are no updates available yet the applications are all on version .0
This has created a problem for us. I tried installing the updates manually after downloading them from the Adobe updates site and but I could only get Photoshop 10.0.1 to and Adobe InDesign Illustrator to install. The Acrobat  8.3.1 patch said it was for the wrong version, and I had a similar report about the Illustrator patch.
I would like to have all the patches downloaded and saved on our server so that after an re-installation of Adobe CS3 I can just I can just run those.´Not sure how to solve the problem with Illustrator and Acrobat. Which patches do I need for the English .0 versions?
    Cheers
    Jason

    >any idea why the Adobe Updater isn't working?
My best GUESS is a permissions problem... the user does not have download permission and/or the firewall settings do not allow downloads and/or antivirus settings do not allow download
So... download all updates for all CS3 products and write everything to a CD to then use as needed
I do not do "enterprise installs" but you might Google and read up on "slip streaming" to create a custom install that includes all updates
Also, in case you need to restore everything to a specific computer in case of something like a hard drive crash, use an imaging program to make an external image of a working drive, by computer name, to something like a USB hard drive
Hardware crashes or virus infections or simple software problems happen, so you should buy AND USE software to make a full backup of your hard drive to an external USB hard drive... plus, making step-by-step backups during a new install or major program addition makes it easy to go back a step if something doesn't work
This backup and then restore is, of course, only to the same computer with a new drive (or the same drive as long as you don't mind writing over everything) since doing a restore to a new computer won't work due to Windows and many programs having activation information that is keyed to your hardware (which is why Windows will force you to RE-Activate if you change very much hardware)
The product I use is at http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/image-for-linux.htm
Image runs off of a bootable CD via Linux (the Zip you download includes a program to make the bootable CD) and it reads EVERYTHING on the drive, even the hidden registration information, so everything is restored when needed... and you may restore the image to a brand new drive in case of a crash, and not have to re-install anything
Please note that I own no part of Image, and I don't get a referral fee (that is just a plain web link) but I use the program and it has saved me a LOT of trouble when I had a hard drive die... and I was able to restore everything and not have to re-install or re-activate a single program, from Windows on up

  • Adobe Update, Captivate 3 - Update 2 failure

Trying to update Captivate 3. After clicking Help, Updates,
Adobe downloader starts and finds Captivate 3, update 2. Download
starts, get's all the way to 12.9MB and then freezes. I'm only .4MB
from completion, but Adobe Updater will not complete download. Have
restarted PC, tried using Updater from Acrobat, etc. Same problem
every time. Is anyone else having this problem? Can some one post
the link to the actual update file so I can download and install
manually? I have 4 machines that need the patch.
    Thanks,
    Brian

quite interesting you say that lovelabs considering individuals who have apple computers are experiencing the same difficulties. For once i think apple isn't the "works every time" product, perhaps (Just perhaps!), they've finally gotten to the point where their hardware assumes its position with the rest of the OS's out there and accepts software incompatibilities.
    ANYWAY
id say try downgrading from the 3.1.1 or 3.1.2 softwares, since these were ONLY released to take care of jailbreaking Apple made them difficult to downgrade from but there is a way... I think its just the software updates that are causing these issues because time wasn't taken to sort out the bugs prior to the release, so restoring using the old version might take care of these errors and get your ipod back, at least, to functionality.
-Download Firmware 3.0 (for your device)
-Go to C:\Documents and Settings\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates (files are hidden, so you need to view hidden files)
-Back up files in the directory
    -Delete all files
-Paste your 3.0 firmware into the software updates folder
-Rename it to the exact name of the 3.1.1 firmware (iPod1,13.1.1_7C145Restore.ipsw)
    -Put ipod in DFU mode
DFU MODE- press the power and home buttons for 5 seconds, (ipod powers off) release power button but hold home button for 20-30 seconds, until your computer beeps.
    * In itunes, it will detect an ipod in recovery mode.
-Shift click restore and use your renamed firmware and update.
For a 2nd gen, its the same routine, just make sure you have the correct image file for your unit.

  • Managing Adobe Updates on Corporate Network

Is there a best practise method in deploying Adobe Updates on a Corporate Network. We have found that 400Mb a week is downloaded by our users from the internet. We aren't keen on paying for the traffic and I'm sure that Adobe isn't keen on the weekly hit from our organisation also.
We are in the process of designing our MS SCCM Deployment solution, and I suspect we will in the future package updates up and deploy them internally ourselves, however, I just wanted to know if Adobe have a "best practise" guide/faq for this topic for Network Administrators?
    thanks in advance,
    Dennis

    All here:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/acrobat/enterprise_deployment.html
    In short,
You can deploy Acrobat and Reader with updates disabled and use SCCM/SCUp to apply updates.

  • Adobe Update Server - help with HTTP service

    Hi all,
Could anyone please help me out with the specifics for the HTTP server needed for the Adobe Update Server?
I'm reading the TechNotes PDF, though helpful for the updater server itself, it isn't really clear on the HTTP service part.
What url exactly? which rights? and so on...
Maybe someone could host a website on his OS X Server machine and make some screenshots for me?
    Thanks in advance!!

    Hi,
There is no specific requirement from the http server for setting up adobe update server using AUSST. It should be any up-and-running http server say Apache. URLs are automatically generated by AUSST in form of client configuration files, so you do not need to bother about the URLs as such.  Similarly rights to the generated updater contents would also be automatically taken care by the tool itself. The only thing you need to figure out and tell the AUSST tool is the http based URL corresponding to the update server root that you are setting up. The latest documentation at http://www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/creativesuite/pdfs/UpdateServerSetupTool_ TechNote.pdf has some troubleshooting steps that help you out with most common issues.
    Thanks,
    Manju

  • Adobe Updates not downloading - available but "try again later" error with link to "serial number not qualifying"

I just upgraded computers (PC w/Windows 8 64 bit) and I did a fresh install of my copy of Adobe Photoshop CS5 (along with Bridge and Camera Raw).
The install asked for serial numbers which I provided and the installation was a success - however, I can not view full resolution images, only thumbs
in Bridge and I can not open RAW files from my Canon 5D Mark III (though, I can my files with the older Canon 7D).  I WAS able to view and work with
the newer RAW files on the older computer.
Under "Help", "Updates", it says they are available but after appearing to upload to my computers, I get this:
      Adobe Bridge CS5 4.0.5 Update
There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later.
Adobe Extension Manager CS5 5.0 Update
There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later.
      Photoshop Camera Raw 6.7 Update
There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later.
There is then a link to customer service which brings me to this:
    Creative Cloud Help /
Error "This serial number is not for a qualifying product" | CS6, CS5.5, CS5
What gives?  It was a qualifying product a few months back.  Even if Adobe stopped supporting CS5 (???), I should still have access to past updates
that I had already once received.
I tried 3 times in 1 hour - no luck in getting back to a state I was in only yesterday, and months earlier.
    /Mitch

Apparently, Adobe has very little interest in it's past customers unless they shell out more cash.
I have never seen such a move as this - to REMOVE support and older update links off the Web in an effort to force an upgrade.
My tech support stated (after first stating I was simply out of luck) that he was graciously allowed to make an exception and provided me with a link to support that is strangely
hidden and /or removed from public access.
    Here is that link:

  • How do I install the FM10 licensing fix when Adobe Update Installer won't run?

Adobe Update Installer won't run so can't install FM10 licensing fix
This question is Not Answered.(Mark as assumed answered)

           Tags (edit): none (add)
Because FM10 began crashing with "fatal" errors whenever I tried to generate a TOC for a small (65 page) book, I researched workarounds and none of them worked. Now that I have delivered a crippled deliverable via Acrobat manipulations, I would like to fix FM. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it, got some updates, and then received the "licensing fix" error that popped up in January. I'm wondering why this fix was included not in the updates. That said, the licensing fix package, first, would not unzip so I downloaded it again. I unzipped it but I got a message that Adobe Updater Installer could not run and after several clicks I found that file. I reinstalled Adoble Update Installer but it still does not run.
I am running Windows XP and have TCS 3.5.I uninstalled FM and RH but not Acrobat, Captivate, or Photoshop.
So, now what? Listen to my supervisor who says never use FM again?
P.S. Why do I have to enter a title for my question and then do it again when this page opens??

Give Adobe Support a call or contact the TCS team at [email protected] - something in your environment is causing the installer to fail (I'd guess).
