Adobe updater says PE 12 is open but it's not

I don't know how to run the updater outside of PE, so I have to start it to run the upgrade. And I have to keep downloading the update because I don't know where it is on the disk.
I tried to start the (PE) Organizer, but it won't close the non-existent instance of PE.
Ideas?

Sounds like Firefox is trying to open already for some reason. I have had that message a few times on my Winderz box when I clicked on the icon too many times
Good thing we are on a mac so it is a little easier fixing things.
So, used to work at Apple, eh? First thing is that if it happens in a new user, it is system-wide issue so look outside your home folder for clues. On my system I immediately find /Library/Mozilla and /Library/Application Support/Mozilla. I would be inclined to start with the Application Support folder but both could be pertinent. Since my system is fine ( ) I can't really test these files to solve your issue but it is a good place to start.

Hi there, go in to the utilites of you applications folder and find "Mail" then go stop processes.
If you cannot find Mail then open mail up and follow the process as above.

MacBook won't let me remove program - says it's still open, but it's not

I keep dragging the program I downloaded, Video Accelerator, to the trash, but everytime I drag it to trash my computer says the program is still open, but it's not. I've restarted my computer and assured that this program is not open. Please Help!

CS6 will not update, say program is still open when it is not. How do I close it?

I tried to update CS6 and it crashed the computer.(Win 7- 64bit) After a System Restore, I still had to reinstall CS6. It works fine now, but refuses to do any updates. (Camera Raw 7, etc) It says "Please close the following applications to continue. Adobe Photoshop CS6 (Photoshop.exe)" The program is not open according to the Task Manager. I have been trying everything on the site. CC Cleaner for Adobe, et al. Please help, what am I missing?

Mac installation says Safari is open, but it is not.

Adobe Flash Player Version 11.7.700.169
Tried to install newest version of flash player when prompted.
Flash installer says that Safari is open and it can not continue, so I check my tasks and Safari is not open. I open safari and then close it with CMD+Q to ensure all instances are closed. This does not work.
Restart my computer to ensure that safari isn't open. Attempt installation again with fresh restart. Flash installer says that Safari is open and it can not continue.
Can not install newest version of Flash, nor can I locate information pertaining to this issue.
Any help is appreciated (assuming that it's not a problem with the latest installer which will be remedied shortly).

It would be nice to have the force quit in the installer, but as one of the top posters in the Apple forums told me, OS X has changed since 10.6, to be more like iOS. One of the significant changes with Lion and it was refined in Mt. Lion and Mavericks, is the "Gatekeeper" which keeps apps from running if the developer can't be identified. If Apple lags on updating Gatekeeper definitions, a brand new update launching the force quit would hit a snag at that point and people would be right back here asking what to do. Not having it facilitates the install IMHO.

Basically your player is telling you that you need to install the codecs that will play the compressed data within the AVI file.
AVI is a legacy file container in which the tracks of data are interleaved to maintain synchronization. This data can be encoded using many different audio and video codecs. Your problem is to determine which codecs you need for the player you are trying to use and install them if they are available. Failing that, your will either have to play the files in a different player which has the codec support your require built into the app or convert the content to a compression format that is natively compatible with the player you wish to use.
Since you have not stated what platform, operating system, and particular player you are targeting for playback, it is difficult to provide precise instructions for fixing your specific problem at this point. Suggest you try alternative players compatible with your system and platform to see if they will play the files, use a dedicated media information utility to determine the codecs needed for playback, or post a sample file for analysis.

You are confusing two different versions of the iMovie app. You have downloaded an update to the boxed version that Apple sold in the past. Yoi cannot update the version that Apple now sells in the Mac App Store with that update.

Flash is not supported on the iPad and never has been supported on any iOS device - and as Adobe have never managed to make a version of their flash player that works on iOS devices, and they have recently announced that they are stopping development on all mobile versions of it, it probably never will be.
Browser apps such as Skyfire, iSwifter, Puffin and Photon 'work' on some sites, but judging by their reviews not all sites. Also some websites, especially news sites, have their own apps in the App Store.

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
1. Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server. Any difference? If not...
2. Clear Firefox's Cache Completely

On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
3. If needed, remove the site's cookies in this dialog
While viewing a page on the site, right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"

This is normally part of a message that indicates the Iphone was jailbroken or unlocked by someone other than the carrier.
If so, we cannot help you here and you need to work with your carrier.

Time machine says my drive is full, but it's not

time machine says my drive is full, but it's not. it is a 298 gig external drive with 51 gigs available. my internal drive on my lap top (the one I am backing up) is a 148 gigs with 44 gigs available. the backup folder on the external drive is
152 gigs.
how can i fix time machine so it can figure out that the external drive isn't full?

You can. And TM works just fine for most people. There is something unusual in your setup, or the way you're doing things, that's causing your difficulties.
