Adobe Updater shows no products

I too ran into the problem recently where Adobe Updater failed because it kept saying it was "resuming a download". I understand this was fixed by the Updater 5.1.1 update... but now I have a new problem. The stations that I have updated to 5.1.1 now have no products (or almost no products) listed that can be checked for updates. All these Macs are running OS X 10.5.5 and CS3. On my Mac, the only product listed is Acrobat Pro, but I'm running CS3 Design Pro. I just setup a brand-new MacBook with CS3 Design Standard, and it has absolutely no products listed. A third iMac I recently setup (the one I had the "resuming a download" problem had products listed, but as soon as I installed the Acrobat Pro 8.1.3 update manually, it got the entire product list zapped (that station is running CS3 Web Professional).
So why does my product list keep getting zapped, and is there a way to get Updater to recreate its list of installed products?

We are in a similar situation to Charles Bailey (and thanks for your input so far Charles).
Rob: "Furthermore, except in the case of security issues, Adobe stops updating applications as soon as new versions come out."
This statement is incorrect. Adobe released an Indesign CS2 was updated AFTER CS3 shipped.
Like Charles, we are a business with multiple workstations running CS3 (35 to be exact).
* We don't drop install the software on every machine as soon as it is released - we don't even do that with updates, hence the reason to run the auto-updater to install multiple updates at the same time unattended when required.
* We TEST a new version of CS to make sure it runs okay and is (backwards) compatible with any workflows/outside clients' requirements BEFORE we roll it out.
* We don't upgrade all the licenses instantly the moment a new version comes out - why should we pay Adobe almost £10000+ for CS4 when clearly they have broken the previous version? We've bought a couple of licences of CS4 and are currently testing it in our environment.
So, because Adobe broke the automatic updater (and incidentally Neil we've now reproduced this on 10.4 so it IS a specific problem with the Adobe Acrobat 8.1.3 manual update NOT Lepoard) we have to track EVERY CS3 update, version and order so that when necessary we can update our 35 workstations. In addition we have to do these updates manually at each indidividual workstation all because Adobe broke something.
So to the people who have "tried" to help thanks, but so far nothing you have suggested has worked and the "solutions" you have given us are simply not solutions to this problem or are unacceptable. We appreciate you are not Adobe employees, that you cannot offer a "fix" and you taking the effort to respond.
Basically, as no one on these forums is able to help or provide a solution we clearly have to contact Adobe technical support (as some of you have suggested). I (as I am sure was Charles) was hoping to avoid having do this because I certainly don't relish the prospect of the following over the next few days:
* Hours on hold with Adobe Tech Support to try and resolve this problem
* Trying to get to speak to someone who ACTUALLY speaks English properly/natively
* Being told to "remove" and then "reinstall" Adobe Creative Suite (and then install ALL the updates manually) to "see if that works/helps"
* Wasting many, many man hours doing all of the above
This will be my last post in this thread (in fact, probably ever on these forums) unless it is to thank someone that provides an actual solution to this specific problem.

  • Adobe updater not opening

    Hello,
The icon of the Adobe Updater shows that I have 5 updates pending. But when I click on Open Updater, nothing happens. The Updater doesn't start, doesn't update anything. What can I do?
    Thank you in advance.

Try using Help > Update in one of your CS applications instead.

  • Adobe updater mac version fails when opening Master Suite CS3 products after reinstall from drive crash

When I open a CS3 Adobe Product I get a screen that says "Adobe Updater Failed". I reinstalled the suite after a hard disk failure and re-registered the product. I'm sure that there are many updates since this suite came out many years ago, and I want to update to the latest versions.

I have since downloaded a new version of Adobe Updater 5, but now when i launch, the the error screen: "Check your internet connections, Updater cannot connect to the web [paraphrased]", shows up. Of course the internet connection is there for safari, firefox and chrome.

I can't install adobe reader on PC/windows 7, Message: windows installer doesn't permit updating managed adversed products. at least one feature of the product must be installed before applying the update.

I have no idea what that message means; try uninstalling using http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html then download and reinstall the latest Reader from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

  • "Adobe updater" for all Adobe products

    Hello,
it would be realy nice to have a "Adobe Updater" for all Adobe Products.
At the momemt Flash Player, Adobe Reader, Photoshop Elements, ... has their own updater, but some Adobe products have still no auto updater.
So please create one updater for all products.

I can speak only for Windows systems and there I currently know:
    - Air
    - Shockwave Player
For Photoshop Elements (as example) there exist already the "Adobe Application Manager".
Flash/Shockwave Player, Adobe Reader and Air should be also updated via "Adobe Application Manager".
There it should be possible to set for each application, if we want also beta updates if available or not.

  • "adobe updater preferences" window doesn't show

i have the newest adobe reader X and im trying to disable auto update as it says in many instructions on the net
the problem is that i cant get to "Adobe Updater Preferences" window which is necessary to do this - the instructions says that it should appear after clicking "Help"-"Check for Updates" but i see only software checking for updates, completes the check and informing me about any new updates AND THAT'S ALL. just the information that there are no any new updates. there are no any "preferences" option or something as it shows for example below:
    http://www.chotocheeta.com/2007/11/01/turn-off-adobe-auto-update/
any idea whats going on? all sites says that this window should be there...

i did this before i started this thread ("do not download or install updates automatically")... it doesnt change anything.
really, wouldnt be life easier if people would disable auto update on SAME window where updates popup? why we must spend our time for searching something that could be just next to info about new updates waiting for download? then wouldnt be this and thounds of other threads :/

  • When trying to update Adobe Flash the download box pops up but it never lists the Adobe update file. Meanwhile a prompt at the bottom of my screen pops up and says "download complete"

    Firefox 6.0.2
    Windows XP
no matter how I try to update the download never shows up in the downloads box. A box pops up at the bottom of my screen and says "all downloads finished" but it never shows up in my downloads list so I am never given the option to "run".
I was able to find it manually in the download list but I have no idea why it will not pull up correctly when doing an auto update.

AA9 is not compatible with Reader. It is probably best to uninstall Reader and then repair AA9 (Help>Repair). Also, when you install you should generally be logged in as the administrator and have anti-virus disabled.
For the updates, it may be best to simply go to http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows, download the updates, and install them in order. A new system may be the problem, particularly if it is Win8 and 64 bit, you did not say. For 64-bit systems, the updates are critical (I think AA9 works on 64-bit systems after the updates). For AA X, it required 10.1 for 64-bits.
Also, if you updated OFFICE, then expect to only print to the Adobe PDF printer. AA9 does not work with PDF Maker on the newer versions of OFFICE.
If you uninstall AA9 for some reason (I don't recommend except as a last resort), then be sure to remove the Acrobat folder and run the cleaner (http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html) before a reboot and reinstall.

  • Adobe Updater 5 Error

I am a user of Adobe Design Premium CS3, and haven't had the chance to update my software lately. So, yesterday I tried using adobe updater 5, but it said that it had to install an "updater update". Promply, an error message showed up, telling me that the download had failed. Every launch of the application hereafter yielded "no updates". Clearly this is incorrect because some of my software is still on version 1 (Photoshop CS3 Extended, 10.00).
Is this by chance caused by Adobe removing the download files off of its server (It's already on CS5.5), or is this a problem that can be solved? I'm looking forward to responses so I can begin troubleshooting.
    Thank you everyone!

KTRmam it maybe failing on a specific update.  The best option is to just install the update/updates manually.  After the current updates are resolved it should allow the updater to check for future updates.  You can download the updates in our Product updates section.

  • Disable adobe updater

Is there a way to disable adobe update4? I thought I did and it just showed up on my menu bar.
It seems to affect my photoshop by showing a strange "A" like symbol that flashes on occasion while in Photoshop.
       Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
Then you should get the Adobe Update Manager:
Click on the Preferences label (upper right). This will change the page to:
Now uncheck the first box on the left side if you want to turn all notifications off. If you just want notification for one or a couple of the products, just leave only that one(s) checked on the right side.
    regards,
    steve

  • Adobe Updater is trying to install current version

I am using Acrobat XI Pro - version 11.0.06.  I am continually reminded to update Acrobat, but the Updater attempts to install the same version, which obviously fails.  The registry key shows the DisplayVersion to be 11.0.06.
Can someone please offer a suggestion to convince Updater that is already have version 06 so that I can attempt to install version 11.0.07?
Thank you very much for your help.

I would suggest just downloading the update and installing manually. The updates are at http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows (similar for a MAC).

  • Adobe Updates not downloading - available but "try again later" error with link to "serial number not qualifying"

I just upgraded computers (PC w/Windows 8 64 bit) and I did a fresh install of my copy of Adobe Photoshop CS5 (along with Bridge and Camera Raw).
The install asked for serial numbers which I provided and the installation was a success - however, I can not view full resolution images, only thumbs
in Bridge and I can not open RAW files from my Canon 5D Mark III (though, I can my files with the older Canon 7D).  I WAS able to view and work with
the newer RAW files on the older computer.
Under "Help", "Updates", it says they are available but after appearing to upload to my computers, I get this:
      Adobe Bridge CS5 4.0.5 Update
There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later.
Adobe Extension Manager CS5 5.0 Update
There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later.
      Photoshop Camera Raw 6.7 Update
There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later.
There is then a link to customer service which brings me to this:
    Creative Cloud Help /
Error "This serial number is not for a qualifying product" | CS6, CS5.5, CS5
What gives?  It was a qualifying product a few months back.  Even if Adobe stopped supporting CS5 (???), I should still have access to past updates
that I had already once received.
I tried 3 times in 1 hour - no luck in getting back to a state I was in only yesterday, and months earlier.
    /Mitch

Apparently, Adobe has very little interest in it's past customers unless they shell out more cash.
I have never seen such a move as this - to REMOVE support and older update links off the Web in an effort to force an upgrade.
My tech support stated (after first stating I was simply out of luck) that he was graciously allowed to make an exception and provided me with a link to support that is strangely
hidden and /or removed from public access.
    Here is that link:

  • App store update shows I can't update an app since my Apple ID is not associated with my account on Yosemite

App store update shows I can't update an app since my Apple ID is not associated with my account on Yosemite. How can I just force it to allow me to RE-BUY the app again since I don't even have it to update, but I want it?
Currently, I even though I don't have the app, I am not given the option to buy, only to "update", and when I click on that it either hangs or it complains that it can't since my Apple ID is not associated with my account.

And it was your wife's Apple ID that was used to download and install the Yosemite you are using on this computer? If so then I suggest you need to contact Apple to get his straightened out.
