Adobe updates are a hassle!!@@@####$$$%$$$$$$$$

The Adobe acrobat updates are F@@@#d up.  The computer gets frequent updates seems like every week. then the update box comes up like every hour, then when you do update it you have to stop everything and restart your computer which on older computers can take a lot of time.
I was in a computer class and every freaking computer had ADobe pop ups.Are you that desperate??  Seriously, Adobe is a good product but its not all that.

Hi,
Adobe recommends that you install the latest updates to take advantage of improved functionality and to safeguard your system against malicious attacks through PDFs. However, you can disable updates or choose to manually install them if you prefer not to have them installed automatically. The settings vary depending on the application version.
You can follow the steps mentioned in the following document to disable the prompts for updates for Acrobat :

Ravi.

  • Adobe CS4 Web Premium - Adobe updater "there are no updates available at this time"

I have done a clean install of Adobe CS4 Web Premium via the orginal DVD media.
Straight after I go to adobe updater to update the products, but it just says "there are no updates available at this time."
at First I thought this might be mcafee hips polcy stopping the update from going through, but I have fixed this now, but still I get the same message.
I have also ensured my windows firewall is off, so its not that causing the issue.
    Any help, muchly appriciated.

    Hello,
My Adobe CS5 keeps letting me know updates are ready to install, attempts to install, then always tells me.." error in the downloading..."Please!...tell me what to do to get these updates?...I've been trying(Adobe has been trying) for 3 months to get this done.  What if I uninstall everything and try to reinstall again? I uninstalled the program from the old computer when I got a new computer. Had no problems with that.I've run out of places to look for help. Just want to keep my stuff current.

  • Subscription based CC means Adobe decides what updates are enough

With subscription based Creative Cloud Adobe gets to decide what updates are enough.
With old CS products you, the user, get to decide whether new features are progress enough FOR YOU.
With new CC you don't have that power to impact and show Adobe whether you're impressed with new offerings or not.
Last, you are more forced to buy new hardware since you can't keep using older CC software version forever since at some point in time Adobe won't let you run certain CC version anymore.
Lets say CC version 3.0 doesn't support MacBook Pro (2012 model) with Mountain Lion anymore, but you don't want to buy new computer just because of CC 3.0 because all your other computing needs are still covered AND you really don't find new features in CC 3.0 useful TO YOU. In this case you can only keep on using old CC 2 until Adobe lets you (I've hear old version are let to be run for one year - that's a lot less than forever).
With old CS you have the power to not pay and show your opinion on new updates (money talks!). With new CC you have not.

It’s a big change for customers and a huge gamble for a corporation that believes it has complete pricing power. But having to grow revenue from a new business model, rather than new products, is also a sign of weakness. No wonder, we are told, they are listening to the backlash; notably from semi-pro photographers/hobbyists.
“The majority of our revenue comes from perpetual licenses. However, our subscription revenue, as a percentage of total revenue, has increased to 15% in fiscal 2012 from approximately 11% and 10% in fiscal 2011 and fiscal 2010, respectively.”
    [Quote: Adobe's CFO Mark Garrett]
The big test is twelve months hence. Garrett doesn’t mention the churn rate, but how many will cancel after the first year discounts come to an end?
Adobe will need plenty of new innovations to keep us subscribing!

  • What are the recommended technical specifications to setup the Adobe Update Server?

I am looking to setup the Adobe Update Server for all our Creative Cloud users. I would just like to confirm what the recommended technical specifications are if we were to build the server in a VM.

Thanks for the response Ralph but I am looking for a more personal experience someone may have managing 200+ Macs via the OS X server and what their specs are.

  • What is wrong with Adobe Update Manager???!!!

Why in heaven's name can't Adobe fix their broken Update Manager?! Once again, the Update manager tells me that I have updates available, but the information is completely bogus. Two updates are listed: Photoshop CS5 12.0.4 and Illustrator CS5 15.0.2. The problem is that I am already running Photoshop 12.0.5 and Illustrator 15.0.2.
Is it really too much to ask that the Update Manager for this very expensive software work properly???!!!

I appreciate your reply, Steve. But it sounds like you're saying that the way to fix the Update Manager's whacko behavior is to tell it not to check for Photoshop CS5 updates. But that's its job! Still sounds broken to me. I understand that the 12.0.5 security update was issued "outside the AUM framework", but why do it that was if it was going to confound users?
For me, the same thing is still happening today—not just with Photoshop CS5, but also with Illustrator CS5. AUM tells me that the 15.0.2 update is available, but I am already running Illustrator 15.0.2.
It's not a temporary hassle, it's a permanent hassle because the AUM clearly cannot be trusted. It means that the only reliable way to update any of my CS5 apps is to manually go to the Adobe website and drill down to the relevant section for each CS5 app individually. This is shoddy customer service at its finest.

  • Adobe Updates not downloading - available but "try again later" error with link to "serial number not qualifying"

I just upgraded computers (PC w/Windows 8 64 bit) and I did a fresh install of my copy of Adobe Photoshop CS5 (along with Bridge and Camera Raw).
The install asked for serial numbers which I provided and the installation was a success - however, I can not view full resolution images, only thumbs
in Bridge and I can not open RAW files from my Canon 5D Mark III (though, I can my files with the older Canon 7D).  I WAS able to view and work with
the newer RAW files on the older computer.
Under "Help", "Updates", it says they are available but after appearing to upload to my computers, I get this:
      Adobe Bridge CS5 4.0.5 Update
There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later.
Adobe Extension Manager CS5 5.0 Update
There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later.
      Photoshop Camera Raw 6.7 Update
There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later.
There is then a link to customer service which brings me to this:
    Creative Cloud Help /
Error "This serial number is not for a qualifying product" | CS6, CS5.5, CS5
What gives?  It was a qualifying product a few months back.  Even if Adobe stopped supporting CS5 (???), I should still have access to past updates
that I had already once received.
I tried 3 times in 1 hour - no luck in getting back to a state I was in only yesterday, and months earlier.
    /Mitch

Apparently, Adobe has very little interest in it's past customers unless they shell out more cash.
I have never seen such a move as this - to REMOVE support and older update links off the Web in an effort to force an upgrade.
My tech support stated (after first stating I was simply out of luck) that he was graciously allowed to make an exception and provided me with a link to support that is strangely
hidden and /or removed from public access.
    Here is that link:

    Hi,
I scoured the web looking everywhere for a solution to this.
    Exit Code 15
OSX 8.5 with Work@Home DVD media for CS6
I followed instructions to run 3rd party cleaner software
I tried the adobe removal tool
removing all copies of adobe software manually
installing from a new account, safe mode, plist everything suggested that i found did not work.
A colleague suggested that removing the below folder would allow the installation:
    /Library/Application Supports/Adobe
They turned out to be correct, so i am passing this on, because this took far too many hours of my time.
    Cheers,

  • Update Error on Adobe Update... CS4 no longer works

Recently I downloaded the latest adobe update... and now it seems like CS4 is falling apart, mainly photoshop...here are the current problems I am faceing
    Program |Problem
Photoshop Extended CS4| unable to open or create new files due to an error
    |that says:
    | "The specific module could not be found. C:\Program
    |Files\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe Version Cue CS4\Client
    |\4.0.1\VersionCue.dll
Acrobat Pro |No problems so far...
Dreamwever CS4 |No problems so far...
Flash CS4 |No problems so far...
So... I'm a little bit stuck... any help would be apreciated!
    Alex

I'll assume you are on vista and refering to this:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb408524&sliceId=1
It's the top link in the creative suite forums... I know this why? because I just had the same issue and it took forever to figure out it was posted right up top. That said I did follow all the instructions and now everything is working fine. Be prepared though as the steps you need to take are basically.. change some rights in windows and then uninstall your suite and re-install it again. I can say it works though.. Good luck.

  • Adobe Updater- The worst updater i have ever seen

ok, now i would lik esoem adobe devs feedback n why this installer takes an incredibly inordinate amount of time to do its thing. I have seen many a mac installer over the last 10 years, but adobe's are just getting worse and worse. the updaters work sometime, sometime they dont. On a dual 2x2ghz mac pro, it took upwards of a half hour to run updates to 5 programs. thats amazing by any feat of the imagination.
i am trying my best to update acrobat. it just wont do it. now its just peachy if adobe can tell me why, but i figure thats a long shot. through adobe's own updater(which itself needs to constantly update itself, wtf), it refuses to update acrobat. just ran it for the last round of updates amongst the cs3 apps, and nada. still at 8.0. so, i downloaded the singular installer. upon launch, it quits.
    so...what do i do now?
    thx
    -ed

There seems to be something special about the FIRST admin account ever set up on a Mac OS X machine. Try logging in as that account and running the update. Note that there are two or three updates related to "flash" that take 45 minutes to install on a G5 while giving you no progress updates.
If that doesn't work, try activating and logging in as root. This is dangerous, but usually effective for me. Google will show you how to do it on your OS.
    Good luck.

  • Have CS 5 Installed on my iMac and works ok. But installed on my new MacBook Pro it won't open NEF files from my Nikon D810. Displays NEF icons, but when I try and open them the response is: Make sure latest RAW updates are installed. If problem persists

Have CS 5 Installed on my iMac and works ok. But installed on my new MacBook Pro it won't open NEF files from my Nikon D810. Displays NEF icons, but when I try and open them the response is: Make sure latest RAW updates are installed. If problem persists follow link: http://www.adobe.com/go/kb407111. Have installed Bridge 5.0.2.4; Raw Ref Version 7.0.0.308; DNG converter_8_7_1.dmg; Bridge 5.0.2 Update 2. Also same problem with Lightroom which I don't normally use. Lightroom_3_LS11_mac_3_6.dmg installed.

In the link you posted it states that the Nikon 810 requires ACR 8.6 or newer.
Version of ACR are specific to versions of Photoshop. You cannot use 8.6 nor even 7.0.in CS5.
I believe that ACR 6.7 is the latest that will work with CS5, so make sure you have this installed and get rid of ACR 7.
Having 2 versions of ACR will cause problems.
You have already downloaded DNG Converter 8.7.1.
Have you double clicked the DMG file to allow you to install DNG Converter on your computer?
Be aware that DNG converter is a stand-along application and not a plug-in.
You need to open DNG converter at select the FOLDER that contain your .NEF files.
Don't open the folder and try to select individual files, it doesn't work that way.
After converting your D810 files to DNGs you can then open the DNGs in CS5
The problem is your camera didn't exist when CS5 & its version of ACR was developed.
i don't use Lightroom, but the list mentions Lightroom 5.6 as needed to open D819 so your 3.6 version of LR won't cut it.

    What exactly means "refuses"?
This is the message which comes up if I try to update (from the Help menu) or re-install my licenced copies of CS6 or Photoshop Elements 9.
    “We've encountered the following issues
Installer failed to initialize. Please download Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem”
    Get Adobe Support Advisor”
    OR
on trying to open PhotoshopCS6 I get this message:-
“Adobe Application Manager required to start your trial, is missing or damaged.
Please download a new copy of Adobe Application Manager from http://www.adobe.com/go/applicationmanager_uk”
When I follow these instructions and try and start up/install or update Photoshop CS6 I get the same messages all over again. This has been going on since Tuesday afternoon and I am anxiuous to resolve the problem. For several years now all this has worked perfectly through your website and I cannot understand what has changed.  Once I cancel these messages the products themselves seem to function OK. When I attempt to use Adobe Update Manager I get the same messages as above. You will see that my products are properly licensed and up to date. Have you any solution?
