Adobe Upgrades

I installed OSX Lion a couple of months ago. Near the end of November I needed to do some work in Illustrator so I ran the app. Up pops a warning that the "licensing for this product has stopped working". It quotes error 150:30 so off to the Adobe website I go and try all the fixes they list there. Deleting FLEXnet folder and restarting the computer does not work. The LicenseFix application I download only works on PPC platforms, not Intel. After spending several hours reading blogs and trying all the various "fixes" I can find I give up and have to buy the Adobe upgrade from Illustrator CS3 to Illustrator CS5. Oh well, now I have the latest version and it's working.
Today I need to do some Photoshop work so I run PSE8 only to be greeted by the same "licensing for this product has stopped working." Great. Here goes another $100 to upgrade from PSE8 to PSE10 . I wonder if Acrobat Pro 9 is working??? Nope, licensing has stopped working. I get into an online chat with an Adobe tech. He says Acrobat 9 is not compatible with OSX Lion and I'll have to upgrade. Odd that Acrobat, which I use every day, suddenly is incompatible with Lion months after I upgraded to OSX Lion. So far I've paid $29 for Lion and am now faced with upgrade costs from Adobe totalling slightly over $500 which apparently is something to do with their licensing scheme that they've fixed with all the new versions of their products.
Why do I get the feeling that I'm being hosed?? Is Adobe charging users upgrade fees so their products work with Lion? Is this their way of generating revenue for the fiasco over Flash on the iPhone/iPad? Is there someone on the grassy knoll?
Has anyone else had these problems?

None of what you mention is anything new. Windows is the same way. Eventually, software is to old to work correctly with the latest OS.
Photoshop CS (version 8) is PowerPC code only, so will not work under Lion. That it tells you the license has expired is weird, but doesn't matter since it won't run.
Acrobat 9 is actually pretty old, also. It was released in July of 2008, so it's no real surprise it doesn't work in Lion. You'll have to upgrade to Acrobat X Pro.
Anyway, you're not being gouged by anyone. That's just the way the software merry-go-round works. It just hurts a lot more when you're updating software that costs more than $30.
Rather than updating these apps individually, it would have been quite a bit cheaper to buy the CS 5.5 Creative Suite, which includes Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Acrobat X Pro.

It seems all concerned should have made Flash retro-compatible for those of us with older Macs. Is there a work around to this Flash requirement short of buying a new Mac with the Intel chip?

I would just like to reconfirm the eligibilities of purchansing CC at special offer price :
The serial number which qualifies for special offer for CC has to be :
1.CS3 & above
2. Retail product (purchased for personal usage,with only two installs permitted)
3.It can not be an Adobe product obtained as a bundle pack with purchase of any Electronic Item(e.g computer/printer/camera etc.)
4.It can not be any purchase under Educational licenses
5.It can not be any Volume License product(it is registered in www.licensing.adobe.com)
Note:An OEM(Section 3) serial number, Educational serial number, few Volume licensing Serial number prior to CS6 can be registered in Adobe.com, they still do not qualify for special price offer.

IPOD not support Adobe upgrades?!

IPOD 4G supports Photoshop Elements 3.0.
IPOD 5G supports Photoshop Elements 3.0
Adobe upgraded PSE3.0 to PSE4.0
IPOD 5G does NOT support PSE4.0
The solo option of using folders (one deep) is a joke. I will not downgrade in order to support Apple's attempts at making a portable photo device.
Due to their lack of support for PSE4.0 and their lack of support for USB2.0 media readers, has Apple decided NOT to make the G5 a photo device?
I am stunned, frustrated, and amazed. And, I used to be a STAUNCH IPOD supporter. (2G, 4G, 5G owner)

The fifth genreration of iPods do indeed support photos. Its one of the highest promoted features. They just havent yet updated the iTunes and iPod software yet to incorporate the newest version. I cant speculate on if they will support it, but I cant see a reason they wouldnt.

Adobe Upgrade Has Messed UP My PC!

OK. I'm venting here. I upgraded that latest Adobe and Flash. Ever since, it's been nothing but problems. First, all videos were messed up. I either had audio and no video, or video and no audio. Half of the flash games wouldn't play. Then, none of the videos would play in high definition or good quality. All the video quality was like back in the 90's.
UNinstalled everything, all the Adobe and Flash, and re-installed. Cleared all history and cookies, ran my Piriformer and my defrag. Scanned everyhting with AVG.
Well, that fixed the video/audio problem, but not all the video quality. Then, if Im watching any video and move my mouse cursor off the video, and try to scroll, I crash! Every flipping time! I can not even use my mouse if a video is playing or it crashes.
The play and pause buttons on the videos, if I even take the cursor over them, the Adobe Has Crashed Pop up opens and tells me to send a crash report and then Windows iopens and tells me I've crashed and they are looking for a solution to the problem.
And I use color tabs from Firefox adons. Never had a problem. Now, since the upgrade, I try to open another tab, and a ******** million tabs open! Then I'll crash again.
I use AVG, I use Firefox, I use Piriform and their defragger. I use NO Scripts.
MY computer work awesome, perfect, no problem until this new upgrade.
But, if I un-install it, I can't watch half the videos, or play 99% of the games I like.
I've tried searching al the forums looking for solutions and nothing has worked.
I tried calling Adobe Customer Service. HA! What a joke! No matter what # or * I get te same flipping set of options which just keeps repeating.
There isn't even a decent e-mail for custom complaint or problem to report bugs! The only ones I've found give my "choose from one of these" options.
So anyway. I hate Adobe now. It's really messed up my computer.
Does anyone, anyone at all, anywhere, have any suggestions? Or is there not another type of software I can run instead of using Adobe and Flash?
I'm about readdy to wipe my computer and give it away.

adobe flash forced me to do an update and broke my laptop. had to buy a new operating system because computers don't come with software anymore and i never made a back up disc. now I am having problems using the internet and it keeps freezing up and videos are glitchy most of the time or freeze ever since I was forced to do another update on adobe flash. customer service is a joke and you would be better off throwing your computer out the window and buying a new one or reinstalling your OS. too bad there are no other programs I could use or I would. would love to sue these dumb*** people who keep making a terrible program that does nothing but cause you problems.

Terrible Experience With Adobe Upgrade

I purchased a copy of PS Elements 9 from Amazon in early October. I noticed that version 10 was out and contacted Adobe regarding an upgrade. After registering my PSE 9 and emailing my Amazon receipt as requested by support, I was told that I was not elgible for an upgrade because my PSE was already registered to another user. They suggested that I contact Amazon. This is pure @#$%. My software came in a sealed box from Amazon with no signs of tampering, etc. I have started 3 different support cases and called 3 different times with no results. The last time they escalated my case to Level 2 but I haven't heard from them for the past 3 weeks.
Does anyone have any suggestions for cracking this problem?

Questioning Adobes Upgrade policies

I have been an Adobe user all the way back to PS5 and I have purchased every upgrade all the way to PS CS3 Design Premium. Same with Illustrator. I've had Lightroom ver 1,2 and 3. Also, Indesign ver 4 thru CS3. When I purchased Adobe CS Standard then upgraded to CS3 Design Premium, I didn't know that I would never be able to upgrade single software programs from their CS3 version to any upgrades from there. Early this year I dowloaded PS CS5, of course it wouldn't install because I have to purchase the entire CS5 Design Premium. I called Adobe and they allowed me to Upgrade to PS CS5 because I had purchased so much from them in the past. That was nice! I didn't think about all this yesterday as I purchased CS5 Illustrator and CS5 Dreamweaver. I downloaded the software which by the way was $400.00. When I tried to install it, it would not install, said my serial number wasn't valid. I called Customer support and they informed me that I can't upgrade single products if I have CS3, that I would have to purchase the entire suite. I told them about Adobe allowing me to upgrade my version of Photoshop CS3 to PS CS5 which was included in CS3 Design Premium, because of how much money I have spent with them. They were not budging on this issue. So, here it is, I spent $400 yesterday with Adobe, which now they have to refund me my money, that is money Adobe will never get from me again. I started to think about this upgrade path and how much money it is costing Adobe. I think there are others out there that just don't need the newest ver of flash or Acrobat or Indesign, but would buy Illustrator and Dreamweaver. Adobe is forcing people to purchase programs that they don't need. For me to upgrade my version of Dreamweaver and Illustrator, I will have to purchase the full versions which we know is $1,000.00 for the two full versions. So I am either going to have to buy the Design Premium upgrade for $799 but the owners of CS4 only have to pay $599, so I guess Adobe is saying you have to upgrade every year or we are going to penalize you with a higher cost for our products. Or I will have to buy the two full versions for $1,000.00. I have been in business for along time and I think that Adobes policy is costing them hundreds of thousands of dollars or even more. I for one will not purchase Adobe products again. I figure I have spent around 10K-12K on Adobe software. I have sent at least 10 people to Adobe for photoshop or even more to Lightroom. It is a sad day that I will not be buying any new software from Adobe because of their rigid policies. Once again I feel they are shooting themselves in the foot.

You might sign up for a college class... obtain your student ID card... then buy individual products from one of the licensed Education outlets

Adobe upgrade error : The upgrade patch cannot be installed..."

I work in an office and while I was trying to patch up some computers that have Adobe 7.0 Pro (others have 8.0 Pro), I received the following message
"The upgrade patch cannot be installed by windows installer service because the program to be updated may be missing, or the update patch may update a different version of the program. Verify that the program to be updated exists on your computer and that you have the correct update patch"
I would like to mention that I used the check for update option and did not manually download the patches. Also, this problem seemed to occur on computers where adobe was not registered...
Any comments and suggestions will be appreciated.

Be sure to install the updates in order from the current version, unless the info on the update says otherwise. The updates are available on the download>updates part of the Adobe site, with comments of order.

Why is CS6 not in my Account after Adobe upgrade email

I purchased Adobe CS6 under the cs 5.5 upgrade program. Adobe was slow to respond to my upgrade request and a case number was opened. On May 30 I received an email from the Adobe store stating that I should log into my account using my Adobe ID and locate my order under the My Orders page. It states that after I download CS6 my serial number will appear. Several days latter I received notification that my case was closed. CS6 still does not appear in my account as stated in the email. It has been 30 days waiting for Adobe to comply with the email to me but Adobe has done nothing. I would like to get the CS6 software that I purchased. How do I get Adobe to complete the terms of the purchase as outlined in the Adobe Store email to me?

Thanks for the response. I created another case number and was provided an alternative download location to access the serial number and file. All seems to be ok now. The Adobe Customer Service Rep stated the problem that I was having accessing the upgraded CS6 via download was a "known" problem. It seems to me that getting the software to people who buy it should be the first thing that Adobe would get right rather than providing incorrect download instructions to customers attempting to download the software. Excusing the problems caused for the customer as a "known problem" is really unacceptable for so basic a function; especially since this upgrade program from CS5.5 started over 2 1/2 months ago.

Adobe upgrade -signature plugins.

Hello dear fellow members,
we are currently using CIC sign it software Plugin in our Adobe documents (8.1.3) for signature.
Currently we are upgrading the reader to Adobe X.
and there comes the problem. CIC sign IT plugin in not compatiable to this version of reader.(adobe X)
My question is, Are there any other Signature tools/plugin, that will capture the signature from (tablet PC) and load as image in the signature field.
All possible answers and appreciated and alternate solutions are welcome.
Note: i tried TOPAZ SigPlus - but i think i have to change my interactive form code. (am reaserching.....still
i have to remove the signature SB keys of CIC and sue something else for Topaz.( still investigating)

I have Macromedia 8 (includes 'Fireworks').
Bought Creative Suite 3 Design Premium since I also have
Photoshop and
InDesign.
Bought the 'Upgrade' to Fireworks since it is in my
Macromedia Suite.
It failed to install.
Adobe says that it is a 'Bundled' program and refuses to
allow their version
of Fireworks CS3 Upgrade to update it.
Question: Is there enough improvement in Fireworks CS3 to
warrant the price
of the purchase of the complete version of FW cs3?

Adobe upgrade fails because of Internet Explorer upgrade

When I try to download the Adobe Acrabat XI upgrade, it tells me I need to upgrade Internet Explorer past version 4, but I'm using version 10. What do I do to get past this?

Use a different browser, such as Firefox or Google Chrome

I'll add this: I upgraded to CS4 from CS3 Extended. I installed it first on my XP work machine, which had CS3 Extended on it. No problems with the install, although it doesn't work as advertised on that machine. I was able, however, to get it installed without drama.
A couple of weeks ago, I picked up another machine which had Vista 64 installed, pre-built (I usually build my own, but the deal was too good to pass up). CS4 runs fine on it. When I went to enter the serial number, it said that my CS3 Extended number wasn't valid. I used my CS2 number and got it done.
My point: If you have CS3 Extended on the machine you upgrade to CS4, it seems to work. If you install it on a machine without CS3 Extended, you better have an earlier version's serial number.
Hope that makes sense.
