Adobe used to have a clean, well designed website and forum.

Now since Macromedia acquired Adobe, the website and forums have become a visually cluttered nightmare. I'm sure if they try even more sh!t can be jammed into the pages which still have way too much white space. they must not be trying hard enough.
Am I the only one who finds this new look is getting uglier and uglier?

    so far no luck.
    I ran DNG program for Windows (I have Win 8) and ran the menu to convert
    the files on the same memory card from the camera.   Of 135 files, the
    status column for the first 68 files said "converted," but the for all the
    rest, it says "There was an error writing the file."
    Of the files that "converted," they do not open, and I get the same error
    message as before: "Could not complete your request because it is not the
    right kind of document."
    So, what a mess.
    I get conflicting indications of the version of Photoshop I have. When i
    click "About Photoshop in the Help menu, it says CS5 Extended.    The Error
    message for the dng files says CS5.1 Extended.  Does it make a difference?
    I've been at this three hours now.  It's a pain.   For many years I had no
    problem with NEF files, as I had installed the plug-in as required. This
    time it is not working. So I am not new to this.

    My evaluation and testing of the FlashBuilder 4 beta 2 is stopped because there are so many questions that have not been answered.  To be clear:
    - I desperately need an alternative to the Micro$oft "vendor lock in"  (front end, middleware, backend)
    - Adobe is a recognized name in the I.T. world.  (My biggest opponents to change are the I.T. guys & gals)
    - I need to do some heavy duty "convincing" by SHOWING customers and their trusted I.T. crowd that there is a viable alternative
    - I can't show them if your product doesnt' work
    - Plan B is to show them that even though your product doesn't work, your support is responsive, and bugs will be fixed next release, and that there is a work around for now
    - There is no Plan C if the previous two points aren't resolved
    This forum seems really busy compared to Data Services forum.  That forum is dead.  Very few views and 98% unanswered questions.
    Should I re-post all my questions in this forum?  In an attempt to get some help?

    A few thoughts...
    These forums are user / customer forums. They are not an official Adobe support channel.  Did you read the disclaimer on the first page that said "Forums ... are an alternative to Adobe’s official customer support channels"? ( http://forums.adobe.com/index.jspa ).
    To say that Adobe support sucks because questions were not answered on these forums is the wrong conclusion.  Adobe support may suck, but these forums are not an indication of that.
    If your questions are Flex related, feel free to repost them to this board, though.  I imagine that there are just more people using Flex than their are LiveCycle or BlazeDS.

  • People using Firefox have a problem on Face Book and others don't.

    Users of Firefox , while on Face Book, will look at a video. Once finished, they go to look another person's photos. Opening the photos causes the past video to replay. It will keep doing it even though one goes back to stop the video. We have to completely leave Face Book and go back in.

    Thanks for your feedback.  I was not able to mention earlier that in my line of work, we use Notepad to check if the barcode text is written correctly or if the corresponding text can be found if searched in the PDF... We use FREE3OF9.TTF font when entering text values for the barcode (usually in document/part number format exclusive for our company's use) in AI CS11. After saving the AI file, we attach it in a document using FrameMaker 7.1, then a PDF file is created. The output PDF will be a certification sheet for our products. They (our clients) should be able to scan the document/part number out of the barcode. I'm sorry, I could not divulge any other information so I am not sure if this clears out the issue. It used to work before but I had to get my PC formatted and since then I have been encountering this problem. I am trying to figure out if we missed to install a component or something got messed up after re-installing Adobe Illustrator CS11.

"Error writing to file: C:\ProgramFiles\iTunes.Resources\es.lproj\iPadLicense.rtf. Verify that you have access to that directory." I know I have access to that directory because on a different computer I can sync my iPad and iPhone. What am I doing wrong? What do I need to go in and authorize or turn on?     That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
    XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
    Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
    Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
    Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
    Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

  • Adobe website and forums navigation

    Hello!
    I'm not new in here, but Adobe changes the whole website and navigation from time to time and it's not getting better, unfortunately.
    Perhaps someone of the admins can clarify this:
    1) If I go to adobe.com, the page is in english. That's normal. If I log in and my native language is german and Adobe knows that I'm from Germany, then it would actually make sense to switch to german after login. But it does not.
    2) If I log in and select a different language (german in this case), then the website appears in german. But if I go to the forums, it's english again. This is paradox.
    3) If I'm logged in to Adobe, then I'm not automatically logged in to the forums. This is paradox too. At least to me.
    4) If I'm in the forums I need to click "Login/Register" and it asks me for a screen name. I know a lot of english terms, but "screen name" does not makes sense since the rest of the world would call it "nickname". It also does not ask for a password, nor can't I register. I can just set the screen name. Well...
    5) If I set the screen name to something like "Nobody", while my login name at Adobe is my real name, then the top line suddenly says "Welcome Nobody". If I then click on "Your account", it loads the page again and then it shows my real name again. Confusing.
    6) If I'm logged in and chose german as language and then select forums, I won't be taken to the international german forums. This is paradox.
    7) If I go to "Forums" and then below to "International forums -> German", then the page appears in german and says "Foren", which is german for "Forums". But there are no forums, it is only one forum. But for what? For all Adobe products? Confusing.
    8) If I'm on that page from 7) then it's half english, half german.
    This is what I could see by just browsing Adobe's pages for a few minutes. I actually don't want to know what will happen if I browse some more...

    Early in the morning yesterday, when I still had several hours left before logout, I wrote a long answer to your message, although I didn’t really have the time for it. Unfortunately, when I tried to post it, I found that I had been logged out, and I was absolutely unable to relog for the rest of the day, apparently because the Adobe site (adobe.com) was down. Compared with this, the announced Server Maintenance notice seemed like a bad joke. In any case, I will have to try to remember all that I wrote and was lost.
    I must have begun by thanking you for your long and detailed reply to my previous message. With the increasingly deteriorated atmosphere around here, one tends to forget how very nice it is to interact with someone willing to listen to arguments, and to try to understand what one says without resorting to disqualifications. Which unfortunately seem to be replacing arguments in this forum. However, let’s get back to our conversation.
    No, I have never asked for more participation of (Spanish speaking) Adobe employees in the forums in Spanish. I come from the traditional Adobe (pre Macromedia fusion) forums, where we were constantly reminded that no Adobe personnel participated officially or regularly in the forums, and that the forums were not a way of addressing Adobe. Therefore, I couldn’t have asked for the forums in Spanish what the original (US English) forums did not have.
    What I did ask for, and for several years, was the appointment of at least one Spanish-speaking moderator in those forums, and for more attention from Adobe Spain to them. Sadly, no moderator was ever appointed in those forums, and the now single forum in Spanish still hasn’t got one. On the other hand, a surprising side effect of the new forums format is that the forum in Spanish is now listed in the Adobe Spain site, as in all the other localized forums, under the International Forums label. And I say surprising because for years there was no mention of the forums in Spanish in the Adobe Spain site.
    I have just checked, and although the language problem is solved for users who change it checking the Remember... option, it is still there for newcomers seeking help for the first time. I would think that, typically, such a Spanish speaking person in trouble would naturally look for help in www.adobe.com or in www.adobe.com/es. In the first case, s/he would get a page fully in English, with no provision for changing to another language. In the second, the page would be in Spanish, again with no provision for a language change. In either case, going to Support/Soporte > Forums/Foros would take the newcomer to http://forums.adobe.com/index.jspa , fully in English, and then the story would then continue as described in my previous message. As an ignorant in such matters, I cannot help thinking if it is really so terribly difficult to make the forums.adobe.com software to somehow “remember” where the user is coming from and act accordingly. Explicitly: that if the user clicked on the “Foros” menu in the Adobe Spain site, s/he is taken to the index in Spanish. Naturally, with similar solutions for other languages.
    I thank you for explaining the user interface/content difference. It is a valid and powerful argument against translating everything; and I certainly wouldn’t expect messages written in other languages to be translated to Spanish. However, there are some things that in my opinion are important enough to deserve the extra effort of specially translating and manually inserting. I am thinking, for example, of the different Announcements (text included) and the titles of the Stickies, plus perhaps some of the FAQs. No doubt, it would be easy to find natives willing to provide the required translations for Adobe personnel to replace in the proper places. I would do it gladly in the case of Spanish, and Pierre would probably be willing to provide the required French versions.
    I agree in that the solution that you adopted for the language change problem is probably the best within the existing constrains, although I still think it wasn’t working as today when I performed my previous tests. However, I would like to ask you to consider what I said above about the transition from the Adobe Spain (or whatever) to the Forums index page. (In this paragraph, I have used the plural form of “you”, for which you don’t have in English a separate word as we have in Spanish).
    Finally, I want to stress again that grouping all Adobe products (including all the ex Macromedia ones) in just one single forum, as in the Spanish case, makes the use of that forum far from easy. If you couple that with a far from perfect search engine, you end up with a nearly unusable site. This hasn’t happened yet in the forum in Spanish because the number of posters is very low. I hope that this number will grow in spite of the difficulties, but then the problem will become increasingly noticeable.

    I have downloaded three "ready-made" websites for me and it is supposed to have Wordpress in as well.  I can see the folders in my downloads but I can't open them.  It refers to a "zip" file which I don't see nor a "dmg", only a blue folder.   Can anyone help me to figure out how to get this open and set up on my computer?  I guess you can tell I'm new and very frustrated.  Thank you!

    It's not clear what you mean by 'see the folders in my downloads but I can't open them', although it seems possible that a zip file opened/unzipped to create them.
    Perhaps if you include a screenshot, and/or a link to the site where you got these, and describe exactly what happens when you try to open a folder that won't open.

    Not without more from you, I'm afraid. Adobe is not one piece of software, it is a software company who make perhaps hundreds of different things. So, what is the EXACT name of the thing you are asking about? And, why did you install it? If you don't know the name tell us what you can.

    Is there anyway I can keep design view, source code AND css open on screen all at the same time?
    Constantly clicking between source and css is really becoming irritating, would be so much easier if they were both on screen at the same time.

    You have two choices.
    1 You can go to preferences>general and the very first item (in CS6) is "open document in tabs" if you deselct that then you can view your page in split view and also open up the CSS file and have it visible as well.
    2 If you use tabs you can view the page in split view and open the CSS file and then detach the css from the tab and it will be an idependent item. You detach it by highlighting the tab and then dragging it down.
    It helps to have a large screen, and better still to have more than one screen, you can put the css on the other screen.

  • Buttons (boxes) have squared corners in Design Mode, and after quick preview and export to BC test pages, they are rounded? Need quick fix.

    Please if anyone can give us some help fixing this bug, tried going into every single state of them individually. We have no other portions of the site with round corners so these are sticking out like sore thumbs. Perhaps it could be other live areas on the site in Tools such as TOOL TIPS which we have changed a bit from normal usage to suit our needs. Please let us know what other bit of information you may need form us, We may have trouble loading full pages, but can load elements.

    Make sure you have your border radius set to '0' for those elements.

    Ok Cannot get Adobe Flash to install on 5 different computers ( Dell PC, 64 Bit operating on Windows 7, [email protected]) / 3 different browsers.( i.e9, FIrefox, Chrome) It gets to 7% then jumps to 47% and says finish. I have rebooted. Used the uninstaller. Managed Add- ons. replaced tht shock-player and done LITERALLY every step in troubleshooting AND in the forum... I know by now it is not only me and I have never had this problem before til version 11.3... Can anyone actually help me?? Or recommend another flash player? I have actual business that I cannot attend to because the product is not working as stated. I have literally installed this on over 50 computers and never ever had even a hiccup. Please some one help... ( and iYES I have shut down my browser in between dls. un  installs etc.... I HAVE followed the directions you have given... Been  at it for almost 6 hours)
