Adobe X does not recognize "Ariel" font

Adobe X is not recognizing an " Ariel" font and displays text in a document as a series of "dots".  Other pdf documents have no problems reading text when I open them.  This event only occurs from a single source providing me with their pdf document where i receive an error message claiming that the Ariel font is not recognized.  What can I do to correct this?

You may have a different version of Ariel than them (for instance, they're on a Mac and you are not or they have an older version). Have them embed the font information into the PDF.

  • Adobe Reader does not recognize file name (filename10.5.11.pdf) but does in Adobe Standard 9.  Why?

I post documents to our Intranet site and found out recently that Adobe Reader does not recognize certain file names in PDF files.  For instance,  when trying to open a PDF file with the name
filename10.5.11.pdf  in Adobe Reader, the web browser will not open the PDF and the display is blank.   When I'm using another computer with Adobe Standard 9, I do not have a problem opening the file.
I would like to know if anyone else has had a similar issue and why Reader will not recognize the file name and Standard does.

The version is Adobe Reader 10.1.0    I will request the latest version
and let you know if that fixes the problem
Actually I had changed the name of the file so our associates could access
the file (changed the  .  to a hyphen)  It still made me wonder why Reader
wouldn't open it at that time.
Thanks again for you assistance and I will let you know if this resolves
    the  issue.

    Hi Susan,
    Thanks for providing the information.
Could you also let me know what is the exact version of Adobe Reader on
your system. You can check the same y clicking on Help > About Adobe
    Reader X.
In case its not 10.1.1, please try updating to the latest version and see
    if the problem persists.
Also, does any other PDF with a different filename open in Internet
    Explorer correctly?
    Thanks

  • Acrobat X Pro does not recognize system font

I scanned a document to pdf, opened it in Acrobat X Pro and then applies OCR to the image by clicking Edit in the OCR dialogue and chose ClearScan. I then went to edit the text, but when I clicked on a selection, a TouchUp dialogue box popped up stating, “All or part of the selection has no available system font. You cannot add or delete text using the currently selected font.”  The font used in the document was Arial 10 pt. Does Acrobat not recognize that font? Is there any way to edit this pdf's text?

I still haven't got a sense of what exactly you are after, since you are not only talking about settings with visible OCRd text. But my results partly support yours, partly not. My tests were with Acrobat X, your mileage may vary.
OCR with searchable image... the image contained standard fonts, which I could freely edit. No problem, except of course that the results didn't change on screen. I could also correct OCR suspects, which is the editing Adobe are expecting you to do.
OCR with cleartext... the image contained generated fonts, which I couldn't change. I don't see this as a security thing, rather that Acrobat has generated synthetic fonts which match the exact appearance of the scan, and has no idea what the original font was. I can't edit these, because I don't have the font. (If it let me edit them I suspect it would fail horribly, because the generated font will only contain the letters it believes to be there, not other ones you might need). I can, however, select the text and change the font, then edit the results. There were no OCR suspects, which I find a little odd for the same original, but the OCR was indeed more accurate.
By the way, I may not have made this comment: editing PDFs is sometimes possible, but it should always be thought of as a desperate last resort. Just be happy the few times you can use it, don't expect much or anything, and you won't be disappointed. If you want to edit scanned text (as opposed to correct OCR) don't scan to PDF.

  • Why mac os does not recognize arabic fonts

in mac pro using lion os does not support arabic fonts except one font and not like mac photoshop w` recognize a lot of arabic fonts
    why and how to solve

    mahmoudbitar wrote:

That does not sound correct.  Lion comes with 7 Arabic fonts supported by Apple apps:  Al Bayan, Baghdad, Damascus, Deco Type Naskh, Geeza Pro, Kufi Standard, Nadeem.  Plus a few others which should also work in TextEdit.
What apps are you trying to use?  MS Word for Mac has never supported Arabic.  Instead of that you should use Mellel, TextEdit, Nisus Writer, or OpenOffice.  For Adobe apps for best results you should use the special ME Version designed for RTL scripts.

  • Canvas does not recognize the font Arial Narrow

After setting the font property on the canvas context to "Arial Narrow", the context does not render text in the desired font. Other browsers (IE9, IE10, IE11, Chrome, Safari) all render Arial Narrow correctly. The css tricks people have mentioned on this site do not work with canvas. Here is a jsfiddle demonstrating the problem: http://jsfiddle.net/txymf/

Additional font properties like font-stretch:condensed may be required on Windows.

The password for your computer is not the same password as is sometimes required to open a pdf file. This is also different from any password you may need to access a digital ebook.

  • 10.4.8 does not recognize postscript fonts- help!

I have a new Mac Pro running 10.4.8, and I have copied all the fonts I used on my old G4 running 10.4.3 into the appropriate place on my hard drive. However, the postscript fonts don't seem to be available to my applications, and I can't activate them through Suitcase Fusion either. When I click on a font and go to Get Info, they are not showing as Postscript Type 1 fonts like on my old Mac, but as text files!
I really need the Postscript fonts as I need to send jobs to print, what can I do??
Mac Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

In the past, I have experienced difficulties copying fonts from one machine to another (or more often to removable media, to go to print) when Suitcase has been active on the source machine. My experience is that you end up only copying part of older fonts.
Try quitting Suitcase on the source machine and then copy over a small selection of the problematic fonts. Then activate them through Suitcase on your new machine and see if they are now available to your apps.
I hasten to add that I quit using Suitcase sometime ago, so this might not actually be the cause of your problem but its worth a shot. I switched to Font Explorer X ('cause its free and a more than adequate replacement!) some time ago and would never look back.

  • Adobe Indesign does not recognize FONTEXPLORER X for indesign cc.pln as a valid plug-in.

I got this error after installing Indesign CC 64bit  and font exploer x on Windows 8. After unistalling both apps a couple times then re-installing i loaded some additional
fonts via font explorer then activated them and started a document and the fonts where available despite the message below.
Just wondering if anyone has seen this type of an error before? So i selected no to show the message again.
And everything seems to be working font finder in IDCC shows the fonts are there as well with no errors.
Just wanted to know if this is normal in this version of Indesign where plugins are concerned.
I have run every version of Indesign and CS and never seen this issue before.

I did install the previous font x version 2.3 and then updated it to 2.6 i think it is. Because the previous version did not have indesign 3.5.1 (CC).
After the install the plugin option was there for CC 3.5.1
I will contact font explorer in the morning to find out more.  This is a new laptop with fresh install of indesign CC and font manager.
    Thanks for the tip.
    Cheers

  • When I click on my email confirmation the Adobe site does not recognize.

When I click on my email confirmation, the Adobe site says to click on my email confirmation.

I have the same problem but it appears that an add-on I'm using is causing the problem. Try opening Firefox in safe mode (which disables add-ons) Then try it. If that solves the problem, you need to disable all your add ons and enable them one by one to figure out which one(s) is causing the problem.

  • DollyXs - Release version Does not recognize WriteFishPrice.pln

    Hi,
I am trying to follow the Getting Started for  Step 1: Use DollyXs to generate a dialog-based plug-in project
I have generated the win c++ files using DollyXs, however when I try to load the release version of WriteFishPrices in my Indesign 5.5 trial version, I get an error:
Adobe InDesign does not recognize WriteFishPrice.pln as a valid plug in.  Please reinstall ...
I have built in Release mode, and copied the file to the plugins dir. following the instructions which I have copied below..
Copy the WriteFishPrice plug-in file to the Plug-Ins directory in the InDesign CS5 directory; then the
WriteFishPrice plug-in will be loaded when InDesign is launched.
    NOTE: Do not install debug plug-ins to the Plug-Ins directory for the release build of InDesign, or vice versa;
if you do, your plug-in will fail to load.
Any idea what is going on here?

Yes you should copy the resource folder as well along with the plugin to the Plugins dir, but rather than copying the files manually you should use the project settings to place them in the correct location automatically. You should use the "Prelink event" of the build phases in Win and the output directory to get this done for you.
And regarding the menus, you can change the path of the menu by making change in the MenuDef resource in the .fr file of the plugin.
In WriteFishPrice plugin "kWFPPluginsMenuPath" macro defines the path of the menu, see what this points to and how you can alter it to get an understanding of the concpet.

  • InDesign does not recognize Digital Publishing.InDesignPlugin as a valid plug-in

When I try to open a specific file, or just launch the program, InDesign will open a few seconds, freeze, and then crash. The first few times, I got the message:
    Startup Alert
Adobe InDesign does not recognize Digital Publishing.InDesignPlgin as a valid plug-in. Please reinstall the Digital Publishing.InDesignPlugin plug-in and restart InDesign.
    Show this alert again? Y/N?
I've tried searching for what this plug-in is, or searching other forums for a similar problem. No luck. I tried uninstalling InDesign CC and reinstalling. No luck. I tried downloading and installing something called "AdobeDigitalPublishingPatch-CC-27.0.0.dmg." No luck.
Let me know if you know how I might fix this. Like I said, I am running InDesign CC on Mac OS X (version 10.8.4).

    Hey Hank,
I tried both deleting my preferences the way you suggested, as well as doing another uninstall, and checking "Remove Preferences"... and neither worked. InDesign is still opening, freezing, and then crashing.
I even found the Digital Publishing plugin, and tried removing it from the Plugsin folder. That made the error message go away (which started reappearing after I reinstalled), but it didn't do anything related opening or creating a file.
    Sigh.
    Any other ideas?

  • Macintosh: Flash Player does not recognize external webcam

    Hi,
the Adobe Flashplayer does not recognize an external webcam on my iMac. When I open Settings and try to choose a camera, it offers:
    DV Video
    IIDC FirWire Video
    USB Video Class Video
The last entry activates the built-in iSight camera, but not the Logitech Camera which is connected via USB. If I choose one of the other options, the picture freezes, but it does not activate the external Logitech cam.
The Computer recognizes the Logitech Cam alright, it works fine with other apps (Skype, iChat). Does anyone have an idea what can be the problem?
Webcam: Logitech Vision Pro USB für Mac, nagelneu
Computer: Intel Mac, OSX Tiger 10.4.?
    Browser: Mozilla Firefox
    Thanks for any help!

I've been trying to work through similar problems, as have many other Mac users from what it looks like.  Here's a quote from a post I found in Apple's forum:
My Logictech 9000 doesn't show up in the Flash video source dropdown for me either. Selecting USB camera just selects the iSight.
However, I did find a workaround: it seems to choose the first available usb webcam, which is typically the built-in iSight. If you have a mac mini with no built-in iSight, it uses the external camera by default. For my MacBook, I found the trick was to make the iSight busy by opening Photo Booth first, then opening the flash chat page.  That causes the flash player to find and use the external USB webcam.
Note: your webcam probably has to support the new standard USB Video plug-and-play protocol for this to work, and perhaps only on Leopard.

  • Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop and Bridge does not recognize the raw files from my Canon Mark III 5D Camera.

Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop and Bridge does not recognize the raw files from my new Canon Mark III 5D Camera.  How can I get my files open to view and edit?  I am using LR3, Photoshop CS3 and Bridge CS3.  Do I need to upgrade these programs or is there another way to get these programs to recognize my files?
When I try opening the raw images in Lightroom, the thumbnails say "Preview unavailable for this file"  ... when I click "import" an error message pops up that says "The files are from a camera which is not recognized by the raw format support in Lightroom."
When I try opening the raw images in Photoshop, an error message pops up saying "could not complete your request because photoshop does not recognize this type of file."
When I try opening the raw images in Bridge, it just shows an icon with the file name and CR2.
    Please help!!!

Unless I missed an announcement, today, LR6 isn't available, yet, right?  Only Adobe employees and beta testers would know what LR6 does differently at this point and they're all sworn to secrecy.
LR5 is available as a standalone version.
    PS-CS6 is available as a serial-number-licensed version.
PS-CC + LR5 are also available as a Photography Plan subscription for $10/month with a minimum OS versions of OSX 10.7 (and probably 10.8, soon) and Windows 7.
Bridge is part of PS, not a separate program.
LR5 standalone and LR+PS-CC plan are both available on this page:  http://www.adobe.com/products/catalog/software.html
PS-CS6 can be found on this page:  Creative Suite 6 which can be found by searching www.adobe.com for Photoshop CS6 and clicking the Buy link in the on-the-fly search results.
As with any new Adobe software, it might be wise to run it in trial mode for a few days/weeks to see if it works well with your computer, before purchasing and finding out you might need a new computer, first.

  • LC ES4 form in Adobe Reader DC: "MS Office Outlook does not recognize ","...*

I have a form created in Adobe Live Cycle Designer ES4 with extended rights leveraged in Acrobat Pro 11. The form uses an array to store a number of e-mail addresses. When a user selects a name in another field the e-mail address is ‘subtracted’ from the array and the e-mail is created so that it is sent ‘To’ that individual and cc’d to the remainder of the e-mail addresses in the array. The array format is var ListAddr = new Array("[email protected]", "[email protected]", [email protected])
The whole thing works very well so long as Adobe Reader 11 is used: e-mail addresses appear in Outlook with a semi-colon between the addresses. The e-mail clients used by those completing the form are either Outlook 2007 or Outlook 2010.
Eventually users will migrate to Adobe Reader DC so I have been testing the form in Reader DC in advance and am met with the message:
“Microsoft Office Outlook does not recognize “,”…”
A Google search revealed that this issue can be rectified by going to Outlook Tools -> Options -> Preferences -> E-mail options -> Advanced e-mail options and checking the box for “Allow comma as address separator”. Unfortunately doing this makes no difference. The message still appears.
This tends to point the finger at Acrobat Reader DC. Has something changed in how Reader DC handles JavaScript? Do I need Acrobat DC rather than Acrobat Pro 11 to keep my form working? Has anyone any ideas why this might happen?

The problem only appears in versions newer than 9. It should definately be something that you could configure your way out of in the trust center, but I have tried "everything" and I am afraid it is not possible.
Anybody who has a solution for this?
