Adobe X Pro freezes

The program stopped responding. Every time I try to open a pdf document, whether from internet or my computer, it freezes, and I have to force Quit. I can’t even print it or save it. I am using MacBook Air and it happens in all internet browsers. I can’t use the program anymore.

No idea what changed. I am sure there were updates from both OS and Adobe. Right now both are updated with most recent updates. No new software or apps installed.

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro freezing on duplex printing

In adobe acrobat pro X when printing 2 or more pages duplexed on a Canon iR-adv c5045/5051 adobe acrobat freezes and crashes and the job never makes it to the printer, on adobe reader x free edition this is not hte case and prints without a problem. any information on this would be great. thanks

You mean there is an entry in the dock that doesn't work but it works OK from LaunchPad or Applications? Sounds as if you have an old or out of date thing in the dock. Just remove it and put the working Acrobat back. The dock is ENTIRELY under your control; Acrobat doesn't put itself there or remove itself.

  • Premiere Pro Freezing on "Scanning Audio Plug-ins"

    Hi All,
Adobe Premiere Pro freezes as I wait for "Scanning Audio Plug-Ins." The program "dvaaudiovideoscan" program has opened, but nothing is happening.
    -I have uninstalled and reinstalled.
-Deleted my "8.0" user folder in documents.
My iMac has run and has enough power to run Premiere Pro past and present.
I don't know what to do. I also appreciate that Adobe has no number that I can call even though I'm paying for this service.
    Please help community!

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014.2 (8.2) freezes up constantly on Mac OS X Yosemite

After the latest update (no idea which one but the latest update) Premiere Pro cc just keeps freezing up constantly. There's no indication what brings it up but after different periods of time I just get the apple wheel and the entire program freezes up. I force quit and get the "sorry, a serious problem has occured", blabla. Sometimes it's in the middle of cutting a clip, sometimes it's while trimming. There isn't a single indication what causes it. At first I thought it was only because of using a multicam clip, but that's not the case anymore. I tried reducing memory to other apps, deleting preview files, deleting autosaves, turning off autosave altogether, deleting Adobe Premiere 8.0 preference file, changing permissions, basically everything in this post: Re: Adobe Premiere Pro CC keeps crashing... (Which now also seems totally neglected by Adobe).
    Believe me, there's hardly a thing I haven't tried.
It's getting REALLY frustrating now and it's time something is done about this. Yes I know, "don't just say it's frustrating, explain the problem", but that fase has passed now. I'm paying for this product and it needs to work like it should.
Also I know I'm not the only one who's having these problems.
    My specs are:
    OS X Yosemite 10.10.1
    MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012)
    2,3 GHz Intel Core i7
    16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

One great reason to get a Mac only version of the post. It is never a good idea to post on a Windows post with Mac problems. And when threads get so long and unruly, the team can't focus on the actual issue so it doesn't get the attention it needs.
Now that we have that sorted out...

Thanks for the verification. You are running Premiere Pro CC 2014.2 (8.2). It helps to have that absolutely clear.

Very well, did things operate any differently on Mac OS X 10.9.x? Or did you have the same problem?

Definitely do not update Premiere Pro or OS X when in the middle of a project. Wait until it's complete. If you did either or both of these things, you can cause your project to become corrupt. After your current project is wrapped, test with a brand new project.

    - The problem just happens while working in my sequence, not in any final output. I don't know what is meant by "previews", but I have the yellow bar indicator in my sequence, if that's info you need.
I have heard of others having issues with OS X 10.10 and NVIDIA GPUs. My advice is to consider downgrading your OS if you continue to have issues. I believe I have avoided a lot of trouble by sticking to OS X 10.8.5.
Previews AKA the Media Cache are your "render files." They can become corrupt, so it's a good idea to trash them when troubleshooting. You can locate them via your Preferences > Media. Click the Browse button.

Okay I went through that menu (which I'm not eager to do, I prefer direct contact) and came across the CUDA setting inside the project settings. I've now enabled the "Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (CUDA)", which might help.

Testing with a brand new project is not an option. I have a deadline for my current project and it's impossible to start from scratch. What I did try is start a new project and importing the existing one, which didn't help so far.
I was just wondering if you experienced the same issues in a new project. Any project you update to a new version is suspect, in my opinion. In the future, try to avoid doing that. If your current project is corrupt, I could see why you are having certain issues.
For what it's worth, we had another user that exhibited similar issues until they started with a brand new Premiere Pro CC 2014.2 (8.2) file.
Since importing your 8.1 file to a new 8.2 project isn't working, make sure to triple check permissions on all the Adobe folders I laid out in my blog post: Premiere Pro CC, CC 2014, or 2014.1 freezing on startup or crashing while working (Mac OS X 10.9, and later)
It's the #1 reason Mac users experience freezing and crashing. The other one I'd look at is that NVIDIA drivers are not working well with Yosemite. Finally, if you update a project across versions, it can become corrupt. Not much you can do about that except start a new project ASAP.

It would be helpful to know what version of Acrobat, WORD, and operating system.
Without that info, I would suggest at this point to open your WORD file and then go to the print menu and print to file using the Adobe PDF printer. Open the created file in Distiller and see if you get a PDF. If so, check to see if AcroTray is running in the background.
You say you tried many ways. It would help to know what you tried and what worked or did not work, and at what point the failure occurs.

  • Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro Freezing After Install on Brand New Dell Optiplex 580

    Hello,
I was wondering if anyone knew of a solution to an issue I am having.
I installed Adobe Acrobat Pro 8 onto a brand new Dell Optiplex 580 running Windows XP (AntiVirus was not installed yet).  When launching, it freezes 3-5 seconds after opening and I need to open Task Manager to kill the process.
    I have tried:
    Repair install
Deleteing Preferences folder and letting the program recreate it
Manually starting and restarting the FLEXnet service
    Running in compatibility mode
Applying the updates for Adobe Acrobat Pro (up to 8.2.4)
    Running Adobe without background services
    Manually uninstalling and reinstalling
Thanks for your help in advance,

Another possibility to check is the free space in the TEMP folder. I believe Acrobat uses the TEMP folder for temporary storage. You might even consider increasing the size of the TEMP folder. At least this is something else to check.

  • Adobe Acrobat XI Pro freezes

We updated to Adobe Acrobat Pro 11.0.06 from Adobe 8.  We are using Windows Vista with IE 9.  Right away, users began having issues with IE freezing when users launched a PDF from our web-based application.  It wasn't all users but only some.  We tried a number of things including disabling protective mode, rolling them back to Acrobat 8 (which fixed their issues) and then upgrading them from there (problems resumed).   We checked and Display PDF in browser is checked.  Please help!

We did that.  Unfortunately, it didn't work.  I had hope though.  we are using Vista which wasn't one of the things Adobe tested.  Unfortunately, Windows 7 is an issue for us because of a software application that will not work.  All kinds of fun here!

  • MacBook Pro freezes when open Adobe products

I use my MacBook Pro connect to an iMac in Target Display Mode, everything works perfect. When i use my Macbook standalone (not connected to iMac) and open Adobe products it freezes and have to restart. Why does does this happen yet when connected to the iMac it is fine (never freezes, ever!)

These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Note the timestamps of the BOOT_TIME log messages, which refer to the times when the system was started. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time when you had the problem. Select the messages logged before the boot, during the time something abnormal was happening. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
For example, if the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down for three minutes before you forced a restart, post the messages timestamped within three minutes before the boot time, not after. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract—not at the beginning.
If there are long runs of repeated messages, please post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
    Step 2
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ System Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of reports. A crash report has a name that begins with the name of the crashed process and ends in ".crash". A panic report has a name that begins with "Kernel" and ends in ".panic". A shutdown stall report has a name that ends in ".shutdownstall". Select the most recent of each, if any. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot. It's possible that none of these reports exists.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash or panic, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro and Reader Freeze

Everytime I open Adobe Acrobat Pro or Reader I am unabe to open the preferences menu.  Program freezes up.  Also when I hit print the program also freezes.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times with no success.

Which version (and sub-version)? Why do you have both Reader and Acrobat installed? Before AAX this was not a recommended combination at all.
You should be able to delete the Reader and repair Acrobat. If you do not have the most current version of Acrobat, you should do an update(s). If you uninstall and reinstall again, before the reinstall, deleted any left over parts of the Acrobat folder and run a registry cleanup utility (the MS one if you can get it -- MS quit distributing it -- or CCleaner). Then reinstall. Typically the repair and the updates should take care of things unless you have gotten a corrupt plug-in included somehow.

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 Crashing very often! Please Help!

    Hello,
I am currently editing my first feature on Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 and it is currently up to date.
I am editing on a iMac 27in, late 2013 brand new computer.
Processor: 3.5 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory 32GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4096MB
    System: OSX Yosemite V 10.10.1
The project is located on a 8TB G Drive
    7200 RPM
    High Performance ThunderBolt drive.
    Details of the project:
I am currently working on a fine cut of 5K Red Footage that is being cut in the RAW.
I work at 1/2 quality settings and have no lag.
The timeline includes limited stacked video files and various mp3 audio files.
    The Problem:
Lately, the program will randomly quit or freeze up 4-5 times during an 5-6 hour edit session.
Many times it is random, however, it seems to happen often if I accidentally click on the end of a clip on the timeline and it goes to switch into trimming mode.
Also, it will randomly go into the "pinwheel of death" out of nowhere followed by "Adobe CC is not responding."
My project file is just about 15MB now.
What is causing this reoccurring problem?
How can I make it happen less?  I have scoured the forums and found similar articles but no helpful solutions.
I have recently turned auto save on to save every 2 minutes because there have been more than one occasion where I lost A LOT of work because of this issue.
I am about two weeks out from picture lock delivery and this issue is driving me crazy and loosing me a ton of time.
Please help or let me know if any more additional information can help solve the issue.
I have sent in well over 25 error reports already.
    Thanks,
    Thomas.

I think I may have found the solution...
I completely removed the Premiere Pro folder under User > Documents > Adobe and so far it seems to have solved the problem.
I of course backed up my projects and than deleted this folder. So far it seems it worked.
I'll know for sure in a day or two, but after constantly crashing, Premiere hasn't crashed for the last 4-5 hours of work.

  • Why does Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 quit upon playback of a sequence?

I have a new iMac 27" 3.5 GHz Intel Core i7 with 32 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, running 10.8.5. I have a project using AVCHD files running at 59.94 fps, 1920x1080. The media is on a OWC Mercury Elite- AL Pro Qx2; it is at least 3 years old and it is connected to the iMac via a LaCie eSATA hub (with the eSATA cord). Also I have the Mercury Playback Engine GPR Acceleration (CUDA) enabled.
I can edit in a project for a while fine but then the playback starts getting weird and hanging up. The cursor jumps in the timeline and the picture freezes on a frame. Sometimes, the playback monitor screen turns a solid green. Sometimes I will then receive an error message saying "Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project." I usually have to force quit at this point. I try opening a new project and bringing in the sequences again. It will work for some time, and then the same problem again.
Is there a problem with Premiere Pro or do I need a faster, newer media drive?
    Thanks.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro freezes at the attempt to print from IE8

    Hi,
I have reoccurring problem with printing to PDF using Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.1.2 (apparently the newest) from various IE8 web pages. Every now and than the little window showing the progress of printing just freezes and the only way to get forward is to end process (using Task Manager) of the printing (adobe) and IE8, (which gets stuck at the same time as well).
Just few minutes ago I just tried to do the same on Equity Thought website from my account and it repeated the same trouble.
I have cleared all temp files and rebooted and tried again, this time switching IE8 to compatibility mode prior, and result is the same. New Adobe Acrobat is failing to print to PDF from some websites and I am unable to find solution on my own.
I have browsed Interent and it appers I am not alone in this problem. IE8 seems to provide a lot of trouible to users of Adobe Acrobat software. However I was unable to find any solution for my case.
On the other PC, where I have still Acrobat Pro 7.1.0 I do not have any problem with printing to PDF. IE8 does not need to be in compatibility mode for this.
Both PC are on Win XP pro with SP3.
So I would assume this is not MS software problem but Adobe.
    Therefore my query is:
Is anyone familiar with this type of problem and knows where to look for solution, or maybe even knows what the solution could be, please.

No, I do not think I used Adobe PDF Maker before.
I use only Adobe PDF printer that is created during the install (in my case it came with CS3).
The “freeze” happens when the little window called “creating Adobe PDF” comes on and blue progress indicator starts moving to the right. Somewhere past half way it just gets stuck and I can wait one, two, three or more minutes and nothing will happen. Hide button sometimes works and sometimes does not. In any way after that everything freezes (means Acrobat and IE8 stuff) and the only way to clean it is to use Task Manager to end processes.
I use Acrobat extensively to print from web, from AutoCAD and from all MS Office applications for last nine ten years (since Acrobat 4) and this is first time I have any trouble.
What do you mean by "new hook"?
Why would it affect Acrobat 9 and not version 7?

  • Adobe Premiere CC freezes consistently

    Macbook Pro Retina 15"
    Intel Core i7 @ 2.2GHz (Turbo Boost to 3.4GHz)
    Intel Iris Pro Graphics
    16GB DDR3 RAM
Adobe Premiere CC freezes consistently when working on a variety of project files. I am editing with .mov H.264 files from an external USB 3.0 drive and every 10-20 minutes, my preview window will freeze and the spinning wheel will appear. I have tried deleting previews, trashing preferences and Adobe folder, etc. but to no avail. The commonly-suggested fix for this is to turn off OpenCL GPU Acceleration but I don't see why I should have to run Premiere at half of it's full potential on a supposedly supported GPU, especially when I'm paying for a Creative Cloud subscription every month.
I am surprised more people having issues aren't kicking up a fuss, considering the money you pay for the privilege of using these apps. Adobe, please get this sorted out or I will find myself, regrettably, moving back to Final Cut.
If anyone else has any suggestions, then of course please throw in your two cents.

It might also be your external harddrive. If you can try switching to Firewire (to me it seems more stable than usb 3.0). Also, make sure all your footage stays on one HDD (+ render files)
Premiere supports ProRes for Macs, right? I think the best codec for you would be ProRes 422 HQ or LT if your machine cant handle it.
Another thing you could check is software incompatibility. Turn off all other programs in the background including browsers etc.
