Adobe X repair question

should i repair adobe X through adobe reader or through Windows control panel?  When I start the repair through adobe reader,  I get a prompt once complete to restart my computer but I do not get a prompt to restart if I repair through control panel.  Is it really necessary to restart after repairing adobe?

It's a good idea yes.

  • Adobe Photoshop Touch Question / Issue

    Hello,
I bought Adobe Photoshop Touch some time ago for my Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 and I liked it so much. Of all the apps I had for photo editing, this one gave me all I need. I used to own Adobe Photoshop CS2 on my old PC so I wanted something for my tab as well. I was very satisfied by this app until my tab died some time ago. After a pain of service and repairs, the tab worked again but it had a new issue. Anytime I used the device on something more demanding (i.e. playing games ) the tab overheated a lot and the screen started to touch itself very much as, if it was pressed all the time. After some time of struggle with it I decided to wipe it clean and pass it out to a family member who would maybe dedicate more time to fix it.
Last month I bought myself a new device ( Sony Xperia Z ) and I was eager to get all my data on it and apps of course. To my sadness Adobe Photoshop Touch is not compatible with my device now, and it just sits there in my app list doing nothing . I could install only Photoshop Express but it does not give me the full access I had with Touch. I saw that there is another product called Photoshop Touch for smartphones and it seems to be the same as what I had only phone edition.
My problem is that I can not get this new app unless I pay for it and I do not wish to do that because I already paid for the previous edition.
My question is: Can I somehow obtain the Smartphone edition and the previous version ( which apparently is for tablets I suppose ) be removed from my Google Play account. I would purchase the smartphone version but there is no point in having 1 app 2 times.
I would happily like the staff to remove my previous version from my account if they would gave me the smartphone version and I acknowledge that the tab app was more expensive than the smartphone version and Adobe will not refund me the money difference nor are they obligated to give me the smartphone version. I am just asking if it would be possible because I like that app and it's such a shame for it to be in my app list and not be used. Thank you for your time in reading this and no matter what answer I get, I will be ok with it. Have a nice day .

I don't think you'll have much luck. PS Touch for tablets was designed for just tablets; PS Touch for phones was designed for just phones. Touch for phones came out a little later than Touch for tablets. (By several months, if I recall.) On the brighter side, if you ended up buying Touch for phones, you'd be covered no matter which device you had.
Both are very similar in function. I believe the only differences are their UIs; Touch for tablets is landscape-oriented-specific while Touch for phones is portrait-oriented. (Some elements are also placed differently.) I imagine this allows for maximum utilization of screen real estate and element placement.

  • What are the forensic limitations of Metadata & Exif Data+ Adobe Photoshop 3 question; e.g. Metadata

    I have some questions regarding metadata, and exif data on digital   cameras and its forensic limitations in Adobe photoshop 3;
For  instance; After a picture is taken and has a metadata/exif digital   stamp of the "picture being taken day" under what circumstances can  that  "picture being taken day" be changed?
Does the picture  being taken day change when you import it into adobe  photoshop 3 and  add a caption?
Does it change only when the picture is edited,  to perhaps add a white  sidebar that says "family photo" or whatever?
Under what circumstances does the exif/metadata digital time stamp  of  the "picture being taken day" change?
Also, is it possible  to change the picture being taken day on a  photograph in adobe  photoshop 3 manually?
    Thanks-
    Phil

I guess it would be easier to give you an example. The above picture shows the exif data as 9.11.2001. How is this possible if this is a 911 victim? In the top metadata, it says Adobe photoshop 3. I assume this is the program it was last edited in? Or was adobe software used exclusively in cameras back then perhaps? I am not sure, I just know I have many questions I really want answers to. Was the exif data changed perhaps in the above photo on 9.11.2001 to add that white sidebar, which says (Family photo) ?? Click the image below to see the screenshot of what I am looking at, this way we are on the same page or picture so to  speak.
Any help you can give will be greatly appreciatted...
    Thanks,

  • Adobe AIR installation questions

    Hi all,
I'm looking into the possibility of distributing an application with Adobe AIR and I've a few questions about the Adobe AIR installation process. Just to give you some background on the situation I'm in - if a user wants to use the service I'm working on, they need to install a binary application on their computer. We've a web site which communicates with this binary application. As the user as to install the binary application to begin with, we're beginning to look at AIR as a possible alternative to distributing the web content through a browser.
    1. Adobe AIR installation requests that the user enters their computer password. Is there any way to retrieve this password from a separate installer? The binary application that we ask our users to install asks the user for their password and it would be nice to not ask the user to enter their password twice. Are there any possibilities for sharing this password between our binary application and the Adobe AIR installer?
    2. If I sign up as a re-distributer of AIR, is the Adobe EULA which is displayed at the start of installation still necessary? I'm already displaying one EULA (with the binary application) and I'd prefer not to have to display two.
    3. I'm assuming that there is no way to specify the directory into which I'd like the Adobe AIR runtime to be placed - can you confirm that Adobe AIR is always installed in the /Applications folder on mac and c:/Program Files on Windows?
This question goes out to Adobe AIR developers - If you have distributed your application with Adobe AIR, have you ever stumbled across the situation where a user has uninstalled the Adobe AIR runtime (either intentionally or unintentionally) and you are now left in a situation where a user cannot access your services because Adobe AIR is not installed on their computer. If so, are you aware of any usable fallbacks other than to tell customers that they have to have Adobe AIR installed to run the application?
    Thanks
    Sean

1:  We are working on a method to use a local socket to communicate with an installed c# application on the users machine.  The situation is very similar, however we store credentials encrypted and accessible to the installed binary.  If those credentials do not exist the AIR app requests the user to input them and they are sent to the binary.  These credentials are stored either per session, daily or forever per the user's preferences.  We use this method to let AIR be the front end it was designed to be and leave all the heavy lifting OS / processor wise to the binary.  Unsure if this would help but you can read a bit more on using local sockets here: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/AIR/1.5/devappshtml/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d118666ade46-7caf. html
2:  The EULA is still required as the End User has to accept it.  If there's a way around that, I'm not aware.
3:  The installation directory can be changed by the user unless you are performing silent installs (available when you sign a redistribution agreement).  I don't recommend relying on the installation directory never changing.
Try using nativePath to determine where your program location is: (javascript)
    //application directory
    var file = air.File.applicationDirectory.resolvePath("testfile.html");
    air.trace(file.nativePath);
    //application storage directory
    var file = air.File.applicationStorageDirectory.resolvePath("testfile.html");
    air.trace(file.nativePath);
4:  I've faced the problem where the AIR runtime is not available, but we always fall back on the badge there.  For what it's worth it's pretty handy at detecting requirements and getting them to the user.
    hope that helps

  • Macbook air hinge repair question please respond!!!!

Hey everyone, I have a question that hopefully someone can answer I've never sent anything into apple repair so don't know if they're a pain. Anyway in 2008 I bought a macbook air off of a guy I knew, he informed me there was a flaw which was the bottom right hand side of the bezel looked like bent a little toward the user, the computer worked fine and I love it! Anyway after like 8 months I opened it up and the left hinge thing cracked and this little piece came off??? I walked into an apple store while travelling without the air and talked to a genius he said its a common defect and they would fix it. I called tech support told. My story including the bezel thing and they said they would fix it.. should I be worried they will get it see the bezel and say well fix the hinge only somehow? What do you guys think? They can't be as liberal as dell who. Will repair anything...I mean I suppose once they get it they'll have to replace the bezel anyway because it seems to go together. The computer and hinge work 100% but. Would be sweet if repaired.. any thoughts? Sry for typing I'm on my mobile. O and I bought the air for 1000 still loving it..

I would suggest sending it in. I believe they will replace everything. They replaced parts on my MacBook once that I didn't think need replacing. Also, about six months ago, one fan went out in my current MacBook Pro. I called Apple on a Friday. Monday morning FedEx brought a box. The gal helped me pack it quick and she took it along back with her right away. Wednesday morning at 9:10AM she was back with it. Apple had replaced BOTH fans in it.

  • Adobe Form urgent questions!

Okay, I've just created a form using Adobe Designer, one that contains fields that someone can fill out when the form is open with Adobe Reader. The form I've created specifically is for a medical practice, and the first few fields are the doctor's last name, first name, and middle initial. Is there any way that, when I click Save As, a file name is automatically created in the Save As box that contains the last name, first name, and middle initial? I'd like the file name to look like this: LastName-FirstNameMiddleInitial.
Also, this is a form that the people who work at this practice will be using regularly. After the doctor's name fields are a few fields for the date, time in, and time out. Right now, we'd like the date to look like this: 07-16-2008. We'd also like the time in and time out to look like this: 12:00. I'd like it so that, if some data entry person at this medical clinic is tying in the date, and, say, they type in the date as 07/16/2008, it is automatically formatted to 07-16-2008 with the hyphens. Same with the time. Everyone types things in differently, and I'd love to know what I need to do so that it's automatically converted to the date/time design I listed above.
    Help!

Mike, in response to your questions:
The purpose of the signature field is mainly to expand on the services we offer in terms of going paperless. We want to help our clients STAY paperless, which means preventing the need to print off more paper. This form I'm working on is for a medical practice and is simply a doctor's form, with field for the doctor's name, date/time, a field for any info the doctor would like to input, and then the electronic signature field.
After the PDF is created, it is more than likely saved, which presents other problems, as I've now learned you can't save with Adobe Reader.
As far as looking up data on the form in the future is concerned, I'm pretty sure that's a big yes. I don't know that this particular PDF would be updated constantly, but I'm sure it will need to be retrieved at some point. How can the data be inputed so it can be retrieved from a database?
Geo, how exactly do I go about providing JavaScript? I know how to create a button in Designer, but I've had little experience with JavaScript. I've downloaded a program (PF Merge?) that might allow me to link the form I've created to a database, but I'm not sure how it works yet. :-) Is that what you were referring to as far as our comments about an SQL database is concerned? Is there another way I can create a connection to a database, say, a slightly easier way? :-)
    Thanks!

  • Mail-In Repair Question

ok...so Ive decided to send in my Macbook for a simple repair before my warranty expires. Its a pretty common issue it seems. My left command key got popped off by my nephew, after sticking it back on it works 90 percent of the time, but will come back off sometimes and it sticks, which ***** since i use keyboard shortcuts alot more than my mouse! SO HERE IS THE QUESTION
I use the macbook ALOT for everyday designing/printing....so for a minor key change that they will do, waht do yall think the estimated time to get my computer back? I received the packaging materials from apple today after i started the repair claim earlier this week. It came with a shipping label to send it to them which is Priority Overnight FedEx, so it will ship quick, but didnt know if anyone had experience with the same or similar issues?
the label is shipping from Dothan, AL (me) to Memphis...just wondering cause i wont be able to work w/o the computer
    Thanks

    Hi mac100percent,
I wouldn't ship it out on Friday, as the repair depot does not receive packages on the weekends. If you ship it out on Friday they won't receive the unit until Monday and that's when the clock starts. I've yet to see an issue that was so complex where the depot had the machine for more than 36 hours. A possible timeline scenario:
    1.) Ship package on Monday
2.) Package is received Tuesday, work performed, diagnostics performed
3.) Package may ship right back on Tuesday for Wednesday delivery... if not
4.) Package ships Wednesday for Thursday delivery
On a side note, it's impossible to predict any handling issues with package while it's in Fedex's possession. But from a turn around at the service depot, they're usually very quick. I worked in Apple's call center for a while and I can count on one hand how many times I saw a machine sit there for longer than 36 hours (that wasn't a billing/payment/return address issue).

  • Adobe AIR project - Questions

Hello I m here to solve any questions related to AIR in my mind.
I would start an offline project that consist of displaying and editing things in a db.I would like to develop this project over AIR and Action Script 3.I know that AS3 can handle Mysql but for running Mysql DB offline it would have a mysql server running on the machine...but here would like to create a db running with my AIR application and without have to install any mysql local server.
So witch type of DB or how can i create DB for AS3 use?
Maybe i can use xml as tables of DB and coding the xmls as they were db parts but the datas are very huge and this will not be easy to edit things in db with xml as tables
    Thanks a lot

The AIR runtime includes the SQLite database engine, so if you want to use a database as part of your application that is the easiest way to do so. The documentation about the built-in database functionality is here:
    Flex: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/AIR/1.5/devappsflex/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d118676a5497-7fb4. html
    Flash:http://help.adobe.com/en_US/AIR/1.5/devappsflash/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d118676a5497-7fb4 .html
    HTML/JavaScript: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/AIR/1.5/devappshtml/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d118676a5497-7fb4. html
In theory an AIR application can also communicate with any other type of database, assuming you find or write the code to perform that communication. For example, there is an open-source ActionScript library to directly access MySQL. However, as you point out, to use any server-based database you would need to have an instance of the database server running where the computer can access it.
Aside from SQLite, the only other file-based database system that I'm familiar with is Microsoft Access. (I'm sure there are others, but I just don't know their names.) I don't know of any existing projects to work with Access database files from AIR, but again I could have just missed something.

  • NVIDIA Geforce 9400M and Adobe Photoshop/CS5 question

Adobe states that their new software, due to ship April 30, will require a "... qualified hardware-accelerated OpenGL graphics card, 16-bit color, and 256MB of VRAM"
Does the 9400M on the base model iMac and many other models including laptops, offer hardware acceleration to OpenGL?
If I want to buy a new computer to run CS5, do I HAVE to buy the better models that do not have the 9400M? I'm sure the better model (with ATI Radeon HD 4670) would be better, but is it an absolute requirement? Adobe is not sure which models are qualified. I've been making a list of Intel based Macs that surely won't run CS5. A demo version is forthcoming to find out for ourselves. Any hardware geeks or engineers with tech info?

Hi, this is a what I found out: The respective hardware is listed here: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/831/cpsid_83117.html
With my white Macbook 4.1 I have no problems to use all features of the regulard Photoshop CS5. Even when running on 2 monitors (I do the actual work on a 23" Apple Display and use the MacBook for my tools)
Even a test with Photoshop Extended CS5 version has worked out but with lousy performance. In case there are people out who like to know, what can be done with OpenGL ... Adobe is great in hiding stuff:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/404/kb404898.html#updating
Further information can be found here:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/404/kb404898.html
Also a lot information can be found in the 600+ pages Manual. This is also pretty much hidden. You need to activate the onlin help and than click the text in the upper right corner which read something like "Show Help-PDF (38MB)" ... the wording in German is "Hilfe-PDF anzeigen (38MB)
    Or you download it here:
    http://help.adobe.com/enUS/photoshop/cs/using/photoshop_cs5help.pdf
    http://help.adobe.com/deDE/photoshop/cs/using/photoshop_cs5help.pdf
There is, however, a big problem as soon as several applications use OpenGL. In my case it is EyeTV. I can either view live TV or record it. I cannot do both. Neither can I view a recorded Clip in EyeTV. For me as a non-professional it appears, that OpenGL allows a program to do TWO things at a time which can only be done, if the storage (RAM) is separated). Since Photoshop and EyeTV fight for the same spaces only one can be on first. And Photoshop seems to dominate... the normal view of the picture is produced by the regular chip while the bells and whistles a supported by the graphic chip. EyeTV may even freeze.
By the way, there is an option, to stop EyeTV (and probably other programs too) from using OpenGL.
    http://support.elgato.com/index.php?m=knowledgebase&a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=3097
It works i.e. the basics like viewing and recording works but I have decided to use always only one OpenGL-program at a given time.
Last comment - though you did not ask: I have marked under "Finder Information" to open in 32-Bit modus. The program as such works also without this mark but plug-ins like those from NIK-software do not work yet. Their updates are coming:
    http://www.niksoftware.com/support/usa/entry.php?view=faqs/generalanswers.shtml#CS5compatibility
I will post my question on a related issue separately = will an increase of the graphic memory to 512MB guarantee better performance or it it also a question, how OSX 10.6 manages the split various memory chips?

  • Adobe X Features Questions

    1. Is there anyway to make what you write on the PDF with the marker tool permanent?
    2. Is there a way to make it so the form can have an area for the user to upload a file?

Thank you, George! I appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions.
    1. Is there any other way to automatically have it so that when a user writes on a form that it is permanent? My concern for what I am looking to do is that I don't want the person using the mark-up tool, to have the capabilities to go back and change what he/she has written.
These users are showing that they have started a process by drawing a circle and then placing a slash through the circle when the item is complete. Is there another way that I could articulate this so that it is permanent. Macros, etc? I am very new at all of this... if you can't tell!
    2.  As for the file attachment box, it doesn't necessarily have to work in Reader. The users will be using Adobe X, but I just need the box that allows the user to browse for the location of the file and just attach the file to the form. I would like it to be so that if I click on the attached file, that it opens but otherwise it is just displayed as the file name. Does that make more sense?

  • Adobe Distiller licensing question

    Hi All,
This is probably common question, but I need to determine the current licensing model for Adobe Distiller server. I realize that this product is simply a piece of paper that allows me to build server applications that can generate PDF files on the server using the Distiller API. As I recall, to adhere to the license you could either buy the Adobe Distiller Server license OR you could be in compliance if you simply had Acrobat Standard on each client workstation that caused the server application to generate a PDF on the server. Is that correct? Thanks - Jeff

    http://www.adobe.com/products/eulas/
Section 2.3 of the Acrobat EULA covers server use. The Distiller Server EULA is under the "Server Products" section.

  • Adobe Captivate 2 Question

    Hello,
I work at a university library, where we have a library instruction course that includes a 20-question multiple choice quiz.  We were hoping to be able to start administering this quiz online using Adobe Captivate.  We have Adobe Captivate 2 here.
Our set-up would be to have Captivate send us the quiz results through email.  For this to work, each set of quiz results needs to have information to tie it to the particular student who took it.  I thought that the best way to collect this information would be through Text Entry boxes (4 boxes, for first/last name, university ID, and email address).
My problem is that I cannot get the information entered into the Text Entry boxes to show up in the quiz results.  Nothing I try makes this work.  I have selected "Include in Quiz" and "Report answers" in the Reporting tab of the Properties for all four Text Entry boxes.
Neither of the two possible solutions that I have come across for this problem are feasible for our purposes.  One option would be to make these entry boxes into four separate short-answer questions; the problem here is that this would necessitate four separate slides to get this information from our students.  We'd like to have them enter their info all on one slide.
The other option (this was suggested by Adobe Technical Support) would be for me to manually enter the names, IDs, and email addresses of all students into the Properties of the Text Entry boxes as possible "Correct entries" for each box.  This is not very feasible for us--it would require manual entry of information for hundreds of students, and require that we keep up with when new students come in, or transfer.  We would run into a problem the first time a student wants to take the test whose name, ID, etc., are not already in the test.
Is there another way to make this work?  Is it possible to include four Text Entry boxes on one slide, and have what users type in them show up in the quiz results?

The only thing you do in the Captivate project is to define the user
variables like v_name, v_email, etc. You can find information on creating
    user variables in Captivate here
    (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Captivate/4.0/Using/WSCB934979-86BE-40d2-8BB8-A
    66956575988.html#WSDF6E7000-1121-4808-B61B-CCAB6A554AD3)
Note that Captivate does NOT include your user variables in the quiz
results. You must use JavaScript or other means to extract the information
from the published SWF. If you are not comfortable with JavaScript or
object-oriented scripting, you will need help here.
Finally, you will need to update/modify the sendMail() function generated by
Captivate (it is in the HTML), to include the variables you created in the
project and populated by your students.
TIP: Note that email results only places the email in the Outbox of the
email client. It does NOT send the email. A student may forget after the
test to start their email to send the results. You may want to explore a
    more robust & secure option.

  • Adobe Captivate Quiz question

I made a simple multiple choice question. When the user answers correctly, I want them to see a message that says soemthing like, "Correct!" but I only want that message to be there for maybe 2-3 seconds, and then I want the project to automatically move to the next slide.
So, I know how to add the correct message. I have it on there now, but they then have to click or "press 'y'" to move to the next slide. I want it to automatically move without user action.
    Ideas?

Please ask in the Captivate forum. I think the elearning subforum might be the best bet. Thanks.

  • Adobe form distribution question

Form created in LiveCycle and distributed with Adobe Pro...3 choices for distribution.
    1) Through Acrobat.com (which stores the responses on Adobe servers)
    2) By email (This is not an option for me because these forms can not invoke an email client on submission from the user. --> group policy locked-down machines.)
    3) To an internal server
Option 3 works great for me as long as the person submitting the form is on my LAN.  The problem is that we have users not on the LAN submitting the form.  My repository for the responses needs to be accessible from the internet.
    What I tired:
Shared folder on server.  Full permissions for "everyone" just to avoid that as a problem during configuration....
    Folder web shared by IIS.
Trying to use the distribution wizard to set this up for that folder.  It wants a UNC path but that will not work for external  users and no matter what http path I put in there is tells me it is  unable to create the shared folder....
Obviously, if the forms can distribute and submit to Acrobat.com then they can submit to my own server.  The question is how can I do this?  Very frustrating.

Please repost to either the LiveCycle Designer forum or the acrobat.com forum.
