Adobe XI won't print

When I receive an Adobe doc I need to print, I hit print and it sends a copy to my files. It won't allow me to print either the original or the copy. This is getting to be bothersome to say the least. Is there a workaround?

Hi Gretchen4711,
Once you open the document and click on print. From the print dialog box you need to select the printer from the drop downlist.
It should work.  Also let me know step by step your work flow to print the document.
Regards.

  • Adobe PDF won't print non-working time colour in MS Project

Adobe PDF won't print the colour chosen for non-working times in MS Project.  I have tried changing the colour, changing the style, moving non-working time in front of tasks and have fiddled with the printer properties, all to no avail.  It ignores whatever style I have for non-working time and makes a blank space, although it will take gridline changes . . . . please help!

Thank you for providing the suggestion and the Cleanup tools, however they did not help.
I ran each version of the cleanup tool, and for each I had it clean up Reader and Acrobat (i.e. 4 separate cleanup operations).  I then rebooted the machine, and installed Reader 11.0.3.
Still had the same behavior:  Reader will not print.  I tried printing to a second printer (that is attached via USB)...and it did not work either.  I also tried printing to a Cute PDF Writer print driver...and that did not work either.  In each case, no print data made it to the Windows print queue (as demonstrated by watching the queue while printing.)  No error was raised, but no print data was transmitted.
I then uninstalled Reader 11.0.3, rebooted, and re-installed Reader 9:  printing works fine now.
There is definitely something in Reader 10 and Reader 11 that breaks printing in some environments.    (As you alluded to...I have seen a number of postings online about printing problems in Reader.)
    More details about my environment:
    Windows 7 Professional N (Version 6.1, Build 7601: Service Pack 1)
    VMWare virtual machine
Two virtual CPUs (each: Intel Core i7 920 @ 2.67 GHz, 2673 Mhz, 1 core, 1 Logicial Processor)

RAM:  3096 (allocated to virtual machine)
    Bridged networking

    18 Gig RAM
    Intel Core i7 CPU 920 @2.67 GHz

  • Adobe docs won't print grayscale boxes 15% on HP5550 color laserjet

HP support says it's an Adobe issue because the printer WILL PRINT 5% grey if you print a pdf from Preview
    • Firmware and drivers have been updated.
    • We can print Word docs with 5% grey boxes but we cannot print INDD, Illustrator or PDFs with 5% grey boxes.
    • We work in INDD 3 and INDD 4.
    • The greys printed fine on our old HP8550N Color laserjet printer.
Does ANYONE know how to fix this?
This makes NO sense to me...all of our publications have light grey sidebars that are dropping out when we print.

My copy of Word is ancient, but as Anne Marie suggests I don't think there is a CMYK or Grayscale space in Word. Also, ID doesn't have a grayscale space, there's RGB, CMYK, and Lab—you can spec 0|0|0|15 CMYK but not 15% grayscale. So you could imitate Word and work with RGB colors in ID, or you could export your PDF to an RGB destination space, which would convert CMYK black values to RGB.

  • Adobe Reader Won't Print (ver. 10 or 11)

I have a well-maintained Windows 7 32 bit machine running in a VMWare Workstation virtual machine that prints to a network printer via TCP/IP.
It has worked well for years, including printing PDF's from Adobe Reader 9.
Some time ago I updated Reader to version 10.  Printing stopped working.  Eventually I uninstalled Reader 10, and re-installed Reader 9, and printing then worked normally.
I decided to try to update to the latest Reader version 11 (downloaded today) and had the same results:  the installation completed without error, I can open and view documents fine, but printing does not work.
When I attempt to print from Reader, I see the appropriate dialog boxes, and receive no error messages.  The print job just never makes it to the printer (or the Windows print quque).
I uninstalled Reader 11, and re-installed Reader 9 once again...and again printing now works fine.
I guess I will continue to use Reader 9...but I would like to get to the bottom of the printing problem so that I can eventually update Reader.
FYI the printer in question is a Lexmark C544dn, and I am printing to it via ethernet.  I have alread removed the printer from WIndows, and re-installed with latest drivers (at least twice), with no change:  printing still does not work.
Any suggestions on causes or possible resolutions?

  • Adobe Reader won't print in web browser when both Reader & Pro installed

Several of our machines have Acrobat Pro 10.1.4 installed and they also had Reader 10.1.4 installed but when Reader got upgraded to version 11 now PDFs opened in web browsers will not print.   Seeing as it is fairly common for computers to have both Pro and Reader installed I do not understand why Adobe cannot account for their own products and conflicts.   I was hoping to avoid having to uninstall Reader 11 from the machines affected so I would appreciate if there is anything I can have the users do to remedy this?

    Gemini146...
I've ran into many, many, many circumstances like these and if the uninstall from add/remove does not work, what I would recommend is for you to delete the directory c:\program files\adobe and c:\program files\common files\adobe
Then try the installation of what ever version you want. The install should proceed.
If not (which had always been rare for me) then the next step I would advise (since windows installer clean utility didn't work)... is to go into the registry
(regedit) and click on Edit, find
    type in: adobe reader
    or        adobe
and search the entire registry and delete each entry that it finds associated with Adobe Reader only
Of course, you need to know how to differentiate between what's for Adobe Reader and what's for Adobe Acrobat (granted that you do have Acrobat installed)
Is there risk involved with this method? Yes... but if you know your computer and know your way around the registry, you should be fine.
Also, make a backup of your registry as well as create a Restore Point before doing all this. Just to be on the safe side.
Then proceed with re-installing Adobe Reader and you should be ok.

  • Adobe Reader  won't print

I have been trying to print an information download from Apple's help web site with Adobe Reader 9 which I downloaded after Adobe Reader 7.0.7 would not print and I assumed it to be out of date. When the download of the Mac manual or information piece is completed a screen appears which asks me to select the Adobe product to open the download. When I select Adobe Reader, the application's image is muted and cannot be highlighted. I get the same results for Reader 7 and 9.
    What could be wrong?

There was a recent security based update for Adobe Reader
and also their Flash player; not knowing what link you used
to get a version of the Reader for your OS, you may not have
gotten the most recent one. And you may have to look for a
suitable updated link to get the latest installer version.
The recent version I ended up having installed, is 9.3.1.
By default, my system is set to look for Preview; but I
do have some documents set to use Adobe Reader.
The home page for Reader downloads:
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/
One may dare venture to hope the main download page now
has the corrected most recent update with security fix built-in.
You may have to remove & re-install the most recent version.
Not sure what the printing issue may be, though.
    Good luck & happy computing!

Two obvious troubleshooting techniques are to delete and re-install the printer driver (or updating printer driver) and fixing the installation of Acrobat. Have you given those a try?

  • New HD, Now Adobe Acrobat Pro 8.16 Won't Print PDFs to HP2605dn

Had a HD die. Replaced with new one. All humming along on my OS 10.4.11 G4Powerbook except now newly re-installed Adobe Acrobat Pro 8.16 won't print PDFs to my HP2605dn printer. Adobe Reader 9.1.3 and Preview will print my PDFs so that's a workaround, but would like to get Acrobat Pro back to pre-grey screen of death functionality.
    Have sourced hp:

I'm running out of ideas here. Anyone feel like playing House, M.D. with my problem???

What message do you get, exactly? (Please don't include the serial itself).
Is this using the original CD that came with the Acrobat 8 product?
Does it say anything about a "qualifying product"?

  • Using Adobe 8.1.2 some PDF files won't print

Since we've upgraded to the latest version of Reader, 8.1.2, some of the files won't print. For example, this morning I got two PDF files in the same email, they both opened in Reader, but only one of them prints--sending to a Canon ImageRunner 5570 printer/copier/fax machine. I'm not getting any error messages on my computer, it just doesn't print?
If I save a copy of the unprintable PDF to my desktop, then open in Acrobat 6.0 Standard (older version I know), it prints fine to the same printer.
Does anyone know what's going on here? Best, David.

We've been having the same problems printing to a Canon ImageRunner 4570, 8.1.2 won't print but 6 will. We can print to our other HP printer fine from 8.1.2, so it seems to be specific to the Canon. Tried printing from a shallow folder structure, but that hasn't seemed to have helped. Anyone heard if this is unique to the Canon printers? Thanks - Mike
