Adode Reader XI

I have just installed Adobe Reader XI and when I tried to run it I get a box that says it can not open in protected mode due to incompability with your system. What do I do to correct this problem? Also when i start my laptop I get an error message that a adobe .dll file cannot be found.

The scrollbar appears and works but unfortunately the dialog size is still too big therefore the print button ends up being hidden by the windows taskbar. Could you please make sure that the print dialog size is calculated against the work area (desktop size minus the taskbar, there's a win32 API to get that) rather than the whole desktop to fix the issue?
That would also fix another issue: when the taskbar is sized higher than usual whatever the resolution you have it could still end up covering the print buttons but if you calculate against the work area rather than the desktop area that issue would be fixed as well.
Please don't leave it unfixed because even if the requirements say 1024x768 if you have higher DPI settings or have a taskbar with a non-default size the print button could easily become unreacheable.

  • Adode Reader will not Update - Hangs on HKEY_Local_Machine Register Issue

Hi All, Can you please help. I run a Vista 32 bit PC, Adobe updater has treid to undate the reader from Ver 8 to 9, it downloads new files successfully, activates the installer, almost completes then stops with an error which says "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROFOFT\WINDOWS\CURRENTVERSION\APPPATHS\ACRORD32.EXE" cannot be accessed please contact your administrator for access. This is a stand alone machine, I am running it with administrator privilige rights. Can anyone assist me with a script etc to overcome this possible registry issue..Thanks

Sounds like you'll have to give yourself ownership of and/or
permission to access that key. The following helped someone else
with a problem like yours when trying to install a different app. I
don't have Vista, so I can't test it myself.:
Right-click the key, then Permissions. On the Security tab, click
the Advanced button. Click the Owner tab. In the Change Owner To box
in the middle, choose your own login or Administrators. Click the
Apply button. OK out of everything, then go back, right-click the
key, choose Permissions again, click Advanced again, click the
account you want to change (your own or Administrators), click the
Edit button, change the permissions, OK your way out, reboot and see
    if your problem is solved.

  • Cannot view a pdf file in Adode Reader 10 using IE8

I just upgraded to Adobe reader X and I use IE8. I click on a link to a pdf (which contains a table of contents) but rather than being able to view the pdf, it automatically prompts me to "save as" rather than just leave the window open so I can read the page (and use the disk button I used to see on reader 9 to save later if I want).  How do I change the settings in Reader 10 so this Save As.. prompt no longer comes up automatically so I can just view the pdf??
    Thanks
    MJ

    No.

  • I Install pdf.js.xpi update it wont fix my problem and it disable my adode reader

i have problem in viewing some pdf files my firefox browser using build in pdf viewer ,but it can open in abode pdf plugin. firefox support suggest to install the update pdf.jd.pxi .. i installed it. my problem still present and it deactivate my adobe plugin also. now i cant use both the viewers. how to fix this....

You should be able to switch back to Adobe using the steps in this article: [[How to disable the built-in PDF viewer and use another viewer]].
You might also need to disable the extension on the Add-ons page. Either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then you can find and Disable it on the right side.

  • So what's the consensus: update to adode reader 9.4.4?

Good idea? There's so much skepticism about the company, I'm being cautious…

Run the update. It will be patched against the latest whatever, until, in short time, you'll just have to run another update when the latest critical vulnerabiity is announced.
I only use Reader occasionally for printing. Most PDFs will open in Preview just fine. My default PDF app is Preview. The new Reader 10 is supposed to be more secure. Have no idea if this is really so. Not sure if it will run on 10.5, but you could look into it.
    This is from another board:
The best way to secure Reader is to uninstall it. This dramatically reduces the likelihood with which it can be exploited. If that's impractical, I recommend setting the following preferences under Adobe Reader --> Preferences:
        •    JavaScript: uncheck "Enable Acrobat JavaScript" and uncheck "Enable menu items JavaScript." Put a check mark next to "Enable global object security policy."
        •    Multimedia Trust (legacy): click the radio button for "Trusted documents" and uncheck "Allow multimedia operations." Then click the radio button for "Other Documents" and again uncheck "Allow multimedia operations."
        •    Security (Enhanced): check "Enable Enhanced Security."
        •    Trust Manager: uncheck "Allow opening of non-PDF file attachments with external applications." Next, under "Internet Access from PDF files outside the web browser" click the button labeled "Change Settings," then select "Block all web sites" and click OK.
        •    Finally, under "Identity," feel free to lie (although you can't change your login name).
When you're done, click OK, quit Adobe Reader, and lock its preference file.

  • Couldn't Install Adode Reader

Yesterday, I run Adobe Reader but I couldn't open properties sub menu in print menu and decided to uninstall Adobe Reader.
Today, I tried (many times) to install Adobe Reader but couldn't any more. Why?

    What is your operating system?
What Adobe Reader version are you trying to install?
What means "couldn't" - what exactly happens when you try?

  • FDF file not opening in IE 8 with Adobe reader 9 or Adobe pro 9

    Hi
I have a fdf file that is  working fine with IE 7 when I am using adode reader 9 or pro. But the  same fdf is not working fine if my browser is IE 8 . The target element   for the fdf is a file that is there in our web server. The same FDF is also working fine in IE 8 if the version is reader used is 8 or lower
can any one help me to fix  this.
    Thanks in Advance
    RAVISH G

I will add a "Me too" onto this thread. I have to use a third-party site which sends an FDF document (over Internet Explorer), however Adobe Reader doesn't load inside this browser window, but rather launches itself *outside* of this browser window (in standalone mode, more or less)...
In fact, when Adobe Reader is loading outside the browser window the only thing I have here is the original PDF document where the data should be added on. The PDF file is actually a form but I have it displayed "blank", that is without any user-provided data. On Internet Explorer's point of view, I only have the "PDF File" icon in the center of my window, but nothing else (all white)
    Here are the specs:
    Toshiba Satellite laptop
Windows Vista Home Premium, all patched
Latest Adobe Reader available when typing this reply (9.3)
    I have:
Uninstalled, reinstalled Adobe Reader, but nothing better happens (Adobe Reader just pops out of the browser to display the original PDF file)
Upgraded to Internet Explorer 8 (as I was running IE7 on this PC), also added the URL of the intranet site in question in my "trusted sites" in IESpeaking of Internet Explorer, I also did a "reset to default values" many times over this process
Double-checked the values in the Windows Registry in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT to see that both FDF and PDFs are gonna be executed on Adobe Reader (I have no other PDF readers or writers installed anyway)
Double-checked that the Activex control that is needed to be run so Adobe Reader can start is actually whitelisted in Microsoft's IE registry, more on this here
Ensured that Edit, Preferences, Internet, "Display in the browser" is in fact checked. I did the extra mile here: I unchecked, pressed OK, left Adobe Reader then came back to enable it again just in case something doesnt get written accordingly to those settings in the UI.
    Now i'm out of clues
For what its worth, only internet explorer gives me this problem, Firefox and Chrome just opens Adobe Reader inside the browser with the FDF provided.

If the PDF is a form fillable PDF, which I assume that it is, email it to yourself or send it to DropBox and open it on your computer. You should see the fields filled in there. It works for me if I do it that way.
Adobe Reader supports it, but the other apps don't. I assume that if you email the PDF to a computer user it would be readable in Adode Reader.

Is that happening with the browser plugin (what browser, b.t.w.), or you open the PDF in the separate Reader window?
When that happens, are you able to open Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del) to see if any processes use very high CPU or memory?

  • Adobe Reader 9 Won't Install Mac OS X Intel

I've uninstalled. I reinstalled. I tried to install from a disc burned from another computer. I've downloaded it via different browsers. Every time I get an error message "Adode Reader could not install correctly. Adode Reader was unable to install and must quit."
    I'm at a loss.
    Any ideas?
    BCM

First thing to try is to install as a different administrative user. If
that fails, then try to fix permissions. If you have it, try running
Applejack and let it clear your cache's. If that doesn't work, I'd try
to install as root. If that fails, I would recommend an archive and
    install of the OS.

  • Failed to install adobe Reader

Tried to reinstall Adode Reader with the help of your technician . Got an Icon on my windows, but when I click on it I just get an Adobe black page.
The tech then advised me to ask for your help as i am doing now.
I am on Windows XP, and when someone sends me an attachment to open, it opens in my Adobe Photo Shop which you can't read because of the checkered background. I hope you can help me with this matter? Thank you. Oliver L. burger

Sounds like Reader is opening fine, you just aren't opening a file. Try opening REader again then use File>Open to open a PDF. What happens?
I am on Windows XP, and when someone sends me an attachment to open, it opens in my Adobe Photo Shop
Your file associations are messed up. You can highlight a PDF then right-click on it to get the dialog box. Choose Open with>Chose program, choose REader then check the box that says "Always use this program to open this kind of file".
