Adress Book lost addresses after sync

I have synced my Address Book through Missing Sync with my Blackberry and noticed that most addresses which I had given a picture have been deleted from my Address Book on the Mac. There is no way to get these addresses synced back and even some of them have dissappeared completely (both on phone and mac). I do have Time Machine copies but I was wondering if there is a solution to only import certain addresses from my Time Machine backup as I don't want a complete restore where I would loose a lot of the new addresses.
Thanks for any solutions.

Contacts are not stored as vCards within Address Book. Address Book maintains its own contact database. When you delete a contact from Address Book, that record is deleted from the database. If you haven't been backing up your contact data, then I'm afraid it's gone.
Did you not ever use the built-in backup function of Address Book (File > Export... > Address Book Archive)?
Using a computer without any backup system in place is just asking for trouble...

  • Permanently selfduplicating contacts in adress book, iCal no longer syncs with Outlook

From one Day to the next my mac stopped syncing my outlook calendar with iCal. I tried to reset sync; deleted prefs; deleted cache files, nothing worked for me. Not all of the outlook calandar groups appeared in iCal, now after the calendar groups don't even appear in iCal anymore. I use Outlook 2011 with OSX 10.5.8 (i have to use this as long as we don't get a new database in our company.
Now I realized that one adress in adressbook starts to duplicate itself hundreds of times.
What can i do? How do I stop the selfduplicating adress and how can I fix the sync between Outlook and iCal.
    Thx

It appears I have solved the issue myself and thought I would share the solution in case anyone runs into this problem.
In Outlook, I only have one profile. However, Outlook somehow had some settings changed where it prompted me for which profile I wanted to use each time I started Outlook (even though I only have one profile). Because it was prompting me to choose when I start Outlook, I am guessing that when iTunes tried to access Outlook, it was also prompting iTunes to choose which profile to use as well. Since iTunes didn't know which profile, it wasn't syncing properly (note, iTunes never asks you which profile you want to use).
To fix this, I went to the control panel, double clicked the mail icon, clicked the button that says "Show Profiles". I highlighted the only profile I have listed in the drop-down menu and checked the box that says "Always use this profile".
I then sync'd iTunes with my phone and the calendar and contacts finally updated!

  • HT1296 How do you retrieve lost songs after sync?

My daughter bought new songs directly for her Touch but isn't able to find them after she synced.  They were bought through itunes.  How do we get them back?

  • Lost photos after syncing iphone 4 for the first time

I just connected my iphone4 to my pc for the first time and now my pictures are all gone (on both computer and phone). Any way to get them back?

Sounds like you performed a sync to an empty Outlook, correct? You never want to sync to an empty application. Doing so will erase the data on your phone. Before you do anything else, put one unique contact, calendar & note entry in Outlook.
As to restoring your lost data, the key question is have you performed a sync since the sync that erased your data? If not, restoring from backup will restore the data. If you have synced since that initial sync, your data is gone. So, if you have not synced, do this: First disable auto-sync in iTunes>Preferences>Devices(under the edit menu if using Windows). Connect your phone, right-click in the device pane & select "Reset Warnings". Right-click again and select "Restore from Backup". If prompted to create another backup, decline. When the restore completes, you must then sync to restore your iTunes content. You'll get a popup regarding your contacts, etc., asking to "Merge" or "Replace". Select "Merge".

  • Can i retrieve all my lost music after syncing to a new computer

just backed up my ipad to my new macbook and have lost all my music..help..devastated :/

If you synced to a new iTunes library that did not contain all of your music and didn't transfer the music first, then that would cause you to lose all of your music. You can only sync what is already in the iTunes library. If the library is empty when you sync, that erases your device.
But what puzzles me is that you should have gotten a message from iTunes alerting you that the contents would be erased if you synced the iPad. Did you get the message? If you did, did you ignore it and why would you ignore it if you did get it?
If the music was purchased from iTunes, you may be able to download much of it again for free as long as you use the same Apple ID that you bought it with. Read this for more information.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store ... - Support - Apple
If the music was imported from CD's and you no longer have the CD's or the old computer, there is no way to retrieve it.

  • Lost files after sync

I just backed up my phone, updated the OS and thought everything was back to normal. It said I could eject the device so I did, then I noticed all of the contacts and photos were gone. When I plugged the device back in it started to automatically sync again, which I was not able to stop. I am afraid that I lost the backup file with the photos and contacts because of the second sync. Is there any way to get these files back?

    Welcome to the discussions,
you can get your contacts and photos taken with the camera back, if you have a backup of your backup folder is located here:
    Where backups are stored
The folder where your backup data is stored changes depending on the computer's operating system. Since iTunes only keeps one backup per device, you should ensure the backup folder is included in your periodic data backup routine.
iTunes places the backup files in the following places:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    copied from: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
If you did not include this folder in your computer backup routine, you'll not be able to get the data back.
You can deactivate the autosync feature in iTunes/Settings/Devices

I can not add anybody into my adressbook. And this makes me trouble when i try to find the person who i met new.Can you pls help me?
    Brgds

    Hello !
    Try the following:
Simply delete all the  Messenger apps (Yahoo, MSN or Live) which you might have upgraded recently / delete apps which were recently installed before the error which actually started occuring .
After that unplug the battery while the phone is still "on" and restart the phone.
In fact I had deleted a whole bunch of apps to facilitate my OS upgrade as I did not have enough memory on my Device.
This not only helped solve my above mentioned problem but also made my phone restart in less than 3 minutes (the earlier reboot was done in not less than 15  minutes !!).
Therefore my conclusion as from the above incidents is to keep your apps in the bare minimum so that your phone performs to the best.
    Hope this resolves your Problem!

  • After sync I lost my movies

Lost movies after sync. How do I retrieve them?

Depending upon what country that you are in (films can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then you might be able to re-download them (if they are still available in the store) via the Purchased tab at the bottom of the iTunes app on your iPad (or via Purchased under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage on your computer's iTunes) : re-downloading.
If you aren't in a country where films can be re-downloaded then have you not got copies of them on your computer and/or on a backup ? If not then you can try contacting iTunes support and see if they will grant you a re-download of them : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Express Lane, then iTunes > iTunes Store

  • Why is there missing info in the windows address book fields after syncing iphone 4 contacts?

I am reaching the end of my rope trying to deal with syncing/backing up contacts and other "non copyright protected" content from my iphone 4 and my desktop (and preferably my laptop as well).  I've spent literally days trying to solve this problem with ultimately no solution.  So, cutting through my MULTIPLE issues and focusing on one primary I need help backing up my contacts from my iphone 4 to ANY computer.  Here is what I am working with:
A relatively ancient (5yrs) Window XP desktop with virtually no contacts in Windows Address Book and with only the native Outlook Express on it.
An iphone 4 ios 4.3.1 that was initially and is still setup/synced with the above XP box (minus checking the sync contacts box).
An iphone 4 contact list that is primarily populated by about 200 contacts transfered from an old ATT SIM from the previous ancient phone.
A new Windows 7 laptop that I would love, love, love to use in conjuction with the XP for syncing/backing up not protected, personal data and iphone purchases.
So, with that in mind I have been syncing my phone with the XP w. the "manual manage music..." box checked and all other syncing options other than apps unchecked.  I wanted to backup by contacts for emergency recovery and to allow sycncing for the increasing business contacts.  Should be easy right?  Not so much.  I tried clicking the "sync contacts w/ windows address book" option and then synced.  I go to WAB and the contact list is there.  However, if I look w/in each contact the fields are not filled in.  If it was a contact that had name, number, address on my phone the WAB version has the name listing but nothing in the number/addy fields.  Now, this is true w/ virtually every contact and most were from that SIM transfer.  HOWEVER, contacts that I added ON the iphone (ie manually w/ the phone) DO have complete information.
So, what do I do to make an actual, complete backup of all the contacts on my iphone w/o having to manually reinput all of the real information??  I'm frankly terrified that in trying multiple solutions I will lose all my phone contacts which at this point in my life would be absolutely devistating (ie I would probably lose my job).  If it is a matter of newer hard/software I would gladly sync to the new Win 7 laptop instead but there I run into the other aggrivation of apple making it so bloody difficult to use one ios device with more than one personal computer.  I'm dumbfounded and frustrated on soooooo many levels and would send countless good vibes to anyone who can help!   Advice?  Solutions?  I'd promise my first born but who wants that these days...?  Help, please! ;-)
BTW, sorry for the long wind but I'll add on my "optimal solution" if anyone is feeling especially helpful and has an answer:
I'd like to be able to plug my iphone into both my XP desktop and my Win 7 laptop and sync/backup to both freely (that is after all the real intent of syncing, non?)  I don't care about music, videos, or other protected content.  I manage that manually and frankly, I can do without having on the iphone as long as I can accomplish being able to sync/backup/restore all the iphone stuff like apps, settings, personal info, and contacts to both the desktop and the laptop.  The purpose is that I need to be able to use and recover everything (on the road or at home) if either my laptop or my iphone dies/disappears.  But, understanding impermanence as it relates to portable devices, I want a solid backup of everything at home waiting on my desktop.  Is that really too much to ask apple???

Seriously folks?  I know it was long but I added all info to negate a need for endless back/forth clarifications.  No answers???
FYI, i tried syncing contacts to google/gmail and it was a total clusterF as well.  No gmail contacts, synced iphone, gmail contacts populated w/ all info but w/lots of repeat entries.  Used seek and merge repeats in gmail and then resync but no such luck.  Lots of iterations and nothing but fails.  Seems everytime the phone and the gmail lists are "as desired" a new sync puts a ton of repeats back into gmail or onto phone.  Still perplexed and still needing help....
    pretty please....

I ahve the same problem, I had to re-intall the OS on my phone and since then both of my Rogers email account are refusing to let me access the CARDDAV.
When I try to add the CARDDAV I get the following error : At This Time Your Contacts Account Can`t Be Added. Please Try Again Later
I have been trying daily for the past two weeks with no success, and the same thing is happening on the PlayBook (I tried to change the password on the accounts to see if it would solve the problem)

  • Empty address book on iMac, will syncing loose them on the iPhone too?

My mom called me last night saying that her address book on her iMac is now empty. I don't know what she did to have that happen. My question is if she syncs her iPhone, which has all of her contacts, will the syncing delete all of her contacts on the iPhone, or will it add all of her phone contacts back into her address book on the iMac? I would hate to have her sync the phone, and then loose all of her contacts in both locations. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

There is the possibility this data on the iPhone will be lost during the sync process which is why a backup of this data on your computer should be maintained.
The Address Book application includes a quick and easy backup option. The backup file takes up very little hard drive space and only needs to be updated prior to and after making significant changes.
That being said, make sure there is at least one entry entered and available in the Address Book application on her Mac before syncing but there is still a chance the contact information on her iPhone will be lost.

  • How to recover lost phone contacts after Sync ?

My Nokia 6230 was full of contacts.
My MacBook Pro adress book was empty.
After syncing, my phone is empty... I have no backup !
When iSync deletes a contact from the phone, does it store the information somewhere on the mac before ?
Is there any chance for me to recover my phone numbers ?
    Thanks for your help.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Your contacts are not backed up as they are removed - they are simply removed. Unless you had previously backed up the contents of your mobile handset in some manner, there is no possibility of recovering your records.
iSync executed what it believed you wanted it to do: a command to replace the contents of your mobile handset with the contents of an empty Address Book, rather than merge records from the two devices. Generally, you are given a choice of Merge or Replace when performing a first-time synchronization.

  • Contacts and address book wiped out when syncing iphone

HELP!! All my address book contacts on my computer and all my iphone contacts were wiped out after syncing. Sadly, I have never backed up. I've gotten as far as library>app support>address book, but the files are computer mumbo jumbo with bits and pieces of my old info thrown in. Is there any way to convert this to human speak??? Thanks,
    Desperately seeking my info back

Contact info is included with your iPhone's backup, which is updated if needed as the first step during the sync process - if any of the data on your iPhone that is included with the backup has changed since the last sync.
If you haven't synced your iPhone again since the contact info was lost with the last sync, do not sync again and try restoring your iPhone with iTunes from your iPhone's backup.
If this restores your contact info, before syncing contact info with the Address Book on your Mac, enter one unique contact in the Address Book on your Mac. Make the contact up if needed, which can be deleted later. This should provide a merge prompt when syncing contact info, which you want to select.
