  • Certificate issues Active Directory Certificate Services could not process request 3699 due to an error: The revocation function was unable to check revocation because the revocation server was offline. 0x80092013

    Hi,
We have some problems with our Root CA. I can se a lot of failed requests. with the event id 22: in the logs. The description is: Active Directory Certificate Services could not process request 3686 due to an error: The revocation function was unable to
check revocation because the revocation server was offline. 0x80092013 (-2146885613).  The request was for CN=xxxxx.ourdomain.com.  Additional information: Error Verifying Request Signature or Signing Certificate
A couple of months ago we decomissioned one of our old 2003 DCs and it looks like this server might have had something to do with the CA structure but I am not sure whether this was in use or not since I could find the role but I wasn't able to see any existing
    configuration.
Let's say that this server was previously responsible for the certificates and was the server that should have revoked the old certs, what can I do know to try and correct the problem?
    Thank you for your help
    //Cris

    hello,
    let me recap first:
you see these errors on a ROOT CA. so it seems like the ROOT CA is also operating as an ISSUING CA. Some clients try to issue a new certificate from the ROOT CA and this fails with your error mentioned.
do you say that you had a PREVIOUS CA which you decomissioned, and you now have a brand NEW CA, that was built as a clean install? When you decommissioned the PREVIOUS CA, that was your design decision to don't bother with the current certificates that it
issued and which are still valid, right?
The error says, that the REQUEST signature cannot be validated. REQUESTs are signed either by itself (self-signed) or if they are renewal requests, they would be signed with the previous certificate which the client tries to renew. The self-signed REQUESTs
do not contain CRL paths at all.
So this implies to me as these requests that are failing are renewal requests. Renewal requests would contain CRL paths of the previous certificates that are nearing their expiration.
As there are many such REQUEST and failures, it probably means that the clients use AUTOENROLLMENT, which tries to renew their current, but shortly expiring, certificates during (by default) their last 6 weeks of lifetime.
As you decommissioned your PREVIOUS CA, it does not issue CRL anymore and the current certificates cannot be checked for validity.
Thus, if the renewal tries to renew them by using the NEW CA, your NEW CA cannot validate CRL of the PREVIOUS CA and will not issue new certificates.
But it would not issue new certificates anyway even if it was able to verify the PREVIOUS CA's CRL, as it seems your NEW CA is completely brand new, without being restored from the PREVIOUS CA's database. Right?
So simply don't bother :-) As long as it was your design to decommission the PREVIOUS CA without bothering with its already issued certificates.
The current certificates which autoenrollment tries to renew cannot be checked for validity. They will also slowly expire over the next 6 weeks or so. After that, autoenrollment will ask your NEW CA to issue a brand new certificate without trying to renew.
    Just a clean self-signed REQUEST.
    That will succeed.
You can also verify this by trying to issue a certificate on an affected machine manually from Certificates MMC.

  • SSPU issue: Cache directory does not exist, and couldn't create a new downl

I have installed SSPU and created an offer over there. When I run my offer it gives the error:
Cache directory does not exist, and couldn't create a new download cache directory.
Can anyone tell me the root cause and workaround for this issue?

    Hi
Try deleting the "offer" directory from SSPU home and then delete the offer from Sub-Client . Restart client and then add the provider . Start pushing the content from SSPU and see if the issue still persists .

  • Mac on Windows network issues (Active Directory)....

I have a couple of Macs on a Windows domain in the school I work in. I'm able to get them to bind to Active Directory and I can log in fine. However, this is where 2 of my problems start. Maybe its an OS X issue, maybe its a Windows Server issue. Both Macs are running Mac OS X.5.6.
    1. When everyone logs in they're supposed to get their own shared drive (referred to as their H drive). This drive does map, but in the Dock only. So I went to the Finder menu and selected Preferences and told Finder to display Connected Servers. It shows the network drive, but its not my H drive. Its the actual folder that my H drive is housed in. To kind of draw a picture here, my H drive is housed in cscsadmin as are other administrators and IT personnel. So when I log in using my username and password it will show my H drive in the dock and I can see all of items in that drive and on the desktop the cscsadmin drive is mapped instead of my H drive.
If I login as lab it will log in fine, but show the lab shared drive (they don't get H drives) in the dock but show cscsteachers on the Desktop as thats where the lab share is located. So its not just limited to 1 particular user. This is a systemwide issue for the Macs only.
Anyone have any ideas as to why it shows the folder that houses the shared drive instead of the users drive? I know this used to work fine because I've done it before, but that was back in the days of Mac OS X.3. Back then users H drives showed fine on the desktop.
    2. My other issue is that when I'm using one of the Macs on the network (remember its a Windows network primarily) every time someone goes to print it comes up and asks for a username and password. So prints always prompts for a username and password. This is causing issues because people are checking the save in keychain box so they don't have to type the password in every time and if they screw up their credentials it saves the wrong credentials and won't let the user print anything on that Mac. I need to figure out why printing always asks users for their credentials to print.

There is a known bug with printing in that it doesn't cache the Kerberos credentials properly. So it requires you to reauthenticate every time.

  • Home directory empty

    Hello,
So i was connected with vnc to my Arch server and it was acting weird so I did a reboot. Now after the reboot my home directory is empty and I cannot start xfce4. I logged in with the root account and the home directory is still empty so its not the rights I think. How can I trace the problem on this I have no clue where to start. Everything was working great before the reboot.
    Thanks in advance,
    Slayeriq

Thanks that was the problem indeed, in /etc/ there where a couple of files called mtab~ and mtab.fuselock I removed these and now my home partition is mounted again.

  • Issue with Directory Connection

The Server Admin File Sharing interface on a fresh install is turtle-slow and the system logs display "Unable to open Directory node with name /LDAPv3/127.0.0.1."
During installation, I directed the installer to create Users and Groups because the server couldn't connect to our Open Directory server. After installation, I used the System Preferences > Accounts > Login Options to connect to our OD server.
Now that I think about it, it would probably be best if the new server could "see" and connect to the OD server from the beginning, during installation. So I might re-install and troubleshoot that network issue. That said, does anyone know if there's a way to resolve the "Unable to open Directory node" issue without re-installing?
    Thanks!

    hi
could be the problem with password..we also faced the same problem while using an alphanumeric one.
after changing to a completely numeric one it started working fine

  • EJB Issue with return empty children in join fetch query

I'm a newbie and still trying to learn all of the facets of EJB 3.0 (and other backend capabilities) however could not find this issue anywhere resolved.
I have a recursive table which has a 0,1-n relationship with itself. In this case, I want to query for all objects and fetch the resulting children.
To do this I have written the following query:
select o from Node o inner join fetch o.childrenNodeList order by o.nodeorder
If my database has the following entries:
    Parent
    Child
    Grandchild
The above query will get all 3 and allow me to access the list of children through getChildrenNodeList, however, for Grandchild this returns "An attempt was made to traverse a relationship using indirection that had a null Session...." for Parent and Child however it works like it should and gets the fetched rows.
Is there a way for me to either:
    1. Modify the query so that the getChildrenNodeList will return a 0 sized array (so I can test for no children)
    2. Modify the getter such that I can check that the parent really has no children and not some issue with the query
    Thanks for any help,

  • Mime type issues: x-directory/normal vs. inode/directory

Sorry for the long post. If you have no time, just read the third paragraph, starting with "Of course..."
I am using KDE and I have a problem with the mime types for directories. As Gnome, too, KDE manages mime types itself to offer easy customizability by means of GUIs. Obviously, KDE programs natively adhere to these settings. When a non-KDE application wants to open a file of a certain mime type, it should call "xdg-open" which checks for the desktop environment and the calls the "kde-open" script to use KDE's own mime type hierarchy. However, when a program does not call "xdg-open", the (by now ancient) /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache is read. This file is created by /usr/bin/update-desktop-database, which is executed in many PKGBUILDs (well, actually the .install files) to update mime information after installation.
The problem I am running into is that Zotero, a Firefox extension for bibliography management, does not open Dolphin, KDE's file manager, but EasyTag, a music file ID tag editor whenever a folder is supposed to be opened. A quick look at /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache shows that Dolphin is registered as an application for the mime type "inode/directory", but not for "x-directory/normal", for which EasyTag is registered. Simply adding Dolphin as the first app in the array for "x-directory/normal" solves the problem, but only until the next update of a program calling /usr/bin/update-desktop-database. I thus wrote an alias command to call a selfmade script which uses sed to rectify this after each call of update-desktop-database.
Of course, this is not a nice solution. Thus my question (Google didn't help much): What is the standard mime type for directories? AFAICT, it should be "inode/directory", but what, then, does "x-directory/normal" do and why is it used? What should the solution be? Should Dolphin register the additional mime type?
I suspect an error on behalf of the KDE devs as I just realized that a few other KDE programs don't claim certain mime types, either: Okular does not claim "application/pdf". The GIMP, however, does, even though it cannot handle this mime type.
    Thanks for your patience.

skottish wrote:You can override the system level mimeinfo.cache with your own copy in ~/.local/share/applications. Only put in the stuff that you want; There's need to copy the whole file.
    An even better workaround. Nice!
skottish wrote:Slightly off topic, but GIMP can open PDF files.

    We certainly don't want that.
With WLS 6.x, you can use the ldap realm v2 to access active directory.
With WLS 7.x and 8.x, you can use the External LDAP Authentication provider
    to access
    active directory.
If you have to use JNDI to access Active Directory, then you can write your
    own authentication
security provider and hook it up with WLS.

    Hi guys,
I have installed SAP XI.  In the configuration steps for the INTEGRATION_DIRECTORY_HMI, I select the connection type H and am able to enter the necessary information.  However, when I get to the Logon tab and try to select Basic Authentication, the system grays out the Userid and Password fields.  As a result, I am unable to set the userid and password.  I get warning at the bottom of the screen that says "SSL client PSE DFAULT does not exist".
I ran the transaction "STRUST"....what am I supposed to do here?
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Sandeep,
Hava a look at this thread, where a problem of the same kind is solved.
    SXI_CACHE fails to refresh
one of the solution is that, "You only need to press "Enter" once to get rid of the SSL Client PSE default error! Then you can press save.
If you want to enable SSL, see note 510007."
This might solve your problem too.
