ADS printer

Hello,
I´m trying to configure Adobe Document Services but I'm not sure about the printer configuration. Where can I find a guide for configuration guide?
Thanks

Thanks for your answer Lawrence,
I thought that a configuration printer must be done. I´ve been following that note but I´m getting an error.
If I select any printer for example LP01 I get this error:
If I select a pdf printer I get this error
But I'm in a loop with this error...

  • ADS Printing: SY521 at PRE_DISP Act Hook on NC

    Dear experts,
I am trying to set-up an ADS Printing scenario, where a label is printed after a concrete NC is logged. For that I have attached the SY521 activtiy as PRE_DISP activity hook on the NC, which has disposition group.
I followed the How-To Guide for SAP ME 6.1 printing ("How To Set Up and Use the SAP ME Printing Feature"), but there is no concrete reference to this scenario.
Does anyone have experience with such scenario? From my uderstanding, there are not many config steps necessary. But maybe I missed some:
    define document
    define printer as SY521 rule
attach document to material in material maintenance
attach activity hook in NC Code Maintenance
From this steps, I see as the complicated one the document settings, which I am attaching to the post.
    Can anyone give hints?
    Regards,
    Andrej

    Sergiy,
    thank you for your hints.
I tried all of the settings above, but without sucess. I can not see any reference to printing in the logs, but as I have set up another test hook (MII_TRANS_EXT), I know that the hook is executed, but the rpinting is not triggered.
The only weired exception I can see in the log is:
    com.sap.me.production.SFCListEmptyException
But this exception occurs also when the hook is disabled.
I will log an incident for support, as there might be a problem somewhere else.

  • SAP ME ADS Printing - Traveler with dynamic table

Does any one have an example  traveler template that uses a dynamic table to display all the operations on the traveler? Ie one template that works for different routers.
The problem we are having is due to the xml tags for each operation being different eg <operation0>, <operation1> etc which the dynamic table in Livecycle Designer doesn't seem to like.
    Thanks
    Kevin

    Hi Stuart,
    We are using ME15 SP03.
We have already read that document cover to cover and we can print a traveler with SFC or Shop order header data etc. We can also print a fixed list of operations but what we want to do is have a single template that has a dynamic table that prints all the operations regardless of how many there are.
Paragraph 6.11 of the document tells you that if you have multiple operations the binding should end with .Router_Step_ID0 , .Router_Step_ID1, Router_Step_ID2 etc etc
This would mean that I would have to create a template for each different material that has a different number of router steps as you effectively hard code each step ID
The first system I ever worked on (Visiprise 4.2) had the capability of using one template that automatically shrunk / expand based on the number of operations but I just cant see how to do it in LiveCycle Maybe I'm missing the obvious.
    Thanks
    Kevin

  • Objects and Images Printing Much Darker When Sent to Press

So, I'm sure this has been addressed multiple times in many other threads, but for the life of me, I can't find one that addresses my specific issues.  So here goes...
When producing ads or catalog layouts with drawn objects, be it solid or gradient filled, or when adding color photos to the design, it always happens that everything turns out much darker on their end.  It's frustrating and I don't know if it's something I'm not doing, or if it's something in the offset printing process...  Advice would be appreciated.
I am currently using ID CS5.5, and am an intermediate to advanced user, but when it comes to color management...I'm lost.
It's disheartening sending out great ads and layouts when they come out so crappy on their end.  (PS...forget about asking for proofs, cause I've asked for years on projects like mass catalog printings, and they just don't do it...so I need to work around that).  Thanks guys and gals!

its one of those "how long is a piece of string" questions.
as pete said, colour calibration with your monitor may be a factor, but there are many other items to consider, such as:
    * the quality of the light in the room in which the monitor is in;
    * whether the images being printed are beyond the max ink weight for the paper (an uncoated stock will have a lower max ink weight than a coated stock)
    * what RGB-CMYK conversion is being used. to demonstrate this, try this - take an RGB pic, make it CMYK using the SNAP newsprint profile and save it as 1.tiff. then, go back to the original RGB pic and make it CMYK using the COATED FOGRA 39 profile and save it as 2.tiff. now, place both pics into indesign and go to the seps preview and compare the picture qualities side by side.
there are also issues which may be present at the printer's end, but I won't speculate as to what they may or may not be doing. instead, it is worth having a chat to your providers. Providers interested in your work normally take the time to provide as much information as they can.
it seems to me that if images are constantly coming out darker, that the max ink weights for the stocks being printed on are being exceeded. when submitting ads/prints, are you using the ink limit preview in the seps preview panel and checking it against the max ink weight suggested by the publisher or printer?

  • Color not printing

I am using CS6 with an Imac.  I am making a program and am having trouble with the color printing.  I have a a page with three ads on it, two of the ads print fine but the third won't print the type in color although the graphics on it print correctly. This is happening  on several of my pages. Help

OK, my bad again. I presumed you were printing from PDF, but it sounds like you are printing direct from ID.
ID is not known for being the greatest at printing, so it would be worth trying to export a PDF and print that. Try File > Adobe PDF Presets > PDF/X-4 and print from Acrobat or Reader.
If you continue to try printing from ID, make sure that in the Graphics section of the print dialog the Send Data dropdown is set to ALL.

  • Printing after serialization: How can I print the new SFCs?

When I hook my printing acticity to site level hook POST_SERIALIZE I will get the .pas file for Loftware but that file does not contain the new SFCs but the parent SFC that is already invalid. Is there something I need to do to get the new SFCs to .pas file (or ADS printing)? Those SFCs are the interesting ones not the parent...
    We are working with 6.0.3.0

    Hi Petri,
This seems to be the original design of printing at POST_SERIALIZE hook point. And the solution you found is the one that is used by other customers.

  • Print Adobe PDF problem: Device type related?

    Hi,
we have developed a number of adobe print forms and we face a problem. The problem is that not all types of printers can directly print (without first preview the pdf) the form.
We are using an output device with device type post2 (pdf1 works for some printers too) and access method F (Printing on Frontend computer) , but some printers work perfectly and others instead of the form, print out some postscript (or print) commands.
We can as well change our printers and get some postscipt printers but the problem is that we want to give access and print the forms some of our partners who logon to our system via VPN and we cannot "force" them to buy new printers.
Do you have any suggestion for this problem?
    Thanx in advance
    Kostas

the ABAP Backend is sending a ADS-document in an XML format to the ADS Server (JAVA), the ADS returns a "Parts" for the forms. A "parts" consist of an PDF file and a print file (PostScript, PCL or ZPL), which are placed in the Global Directory. All the conversion should take place within the ADS Server.
This "Parts" are then send as a PDF to the SAP Spooler.
For the printing of this PDF document in the SAP Spool System one of the Device types (POST2, HPLJ4, HP9500, PDF1, AZPL203, AZPL300) is taken into account which send the actual PDF to a physical printer.
What you see in SP01 are the "parts" of an ADS-document.
Report RSPO0020 (for troubleshooting ADS printing issues) is displaying the "Parts", send back from ADS to the backend System
The XDC file is the printer description in XML format, which the Adobe Document Services requires in order to create the "Parts" file. PDF documents can only be printed on printers of SAP device types for which there is an XDC file on the Adobe Document Server.  Report RSPO0022 can be used to manage the mapping between the printer device type and the XDC file

  • Connect MII system to Zebra Printer

    Hello Experts,
We've a requirement to connect MII system to ZT410 - Zebra printer.
Can someone please suggest some pointers and/or a path going forward to establish that connection?
    Thanks

You can look at the ADS printing functionality SAP has recently added to MII:

  • Grayscale printing RBG

I work in the creative department for a newspaper. We currently use ID4 for the layout of ads and Quark 6 for the layout of news pages. We're having issues with grayscale ads printing RGB in our newspaper. When the ads are built within ID, each element is grayscale. The ad is then exported as a grayscale eps and imported into Quark.
This doesn't happen with every grayscale ad on a color spread. It's very random. All of our computers are calibrated with the same settings. Has anyone had similar issues? or can anyone point me in the direction to figuring out what's going on?

Nobody around here is fond of .eps. First thing is to be sure you aren't doing some sort of color conversion during the export -- ID doesn't support grayscale profiles and treats grayscale images as if they are on the black plate of the current CMYK space.
Second thing is whay use the .eps? Have you tried putting PDFs into Quark? I know there are some CID encoded font problems, but I don't think they would be eliminated by using the .eps format if you are in fact using Unicode extended characters (though I could be mistaken about that). I'd probably print to PDF rather than export in this particular circumstance, and start with the PDF/X-1-a preset.

  • Is Photoshop CS2 free after all or no joy?

Hello, ive been a long time photoshop user, i believe pre cs2, i imediatelly liked this piece of software since the first day i used it, it was easy to use, intuitive with a set of powerfull features that would speed up my image developments, i used it at school design classes and even 1 month at an ads printing company. At home i could definitly use it to create high quality sprites for my software and since i never really had 850€, once i stumbled across this information you can understand i was thrilled by it, i stumbled accross this info from a fb post, then read some other websites over a google search specyfing the same so i took the plunge and downloaded it.
Now that i came here to triple check, im hinted it might not be free after all, could i please get a definitive answear by someone who works or represents adobe if this piece of software is indeed legal to be used free or not?
Thank you for your time everyone.

  • Fonts not appearing properly at runtime.

    Hi Experts,
I am using Adobe Ineractive Forms to generate a certificate. The issue is that irrespective of any font i use in the designer , it <b>only shows Arial font</b> at runtime.
It shows the proper font in the PDF preview tab of designer, but at runtime it shows only arial.
I am using it on development environment , can that be an issue? Are all the fonts only available on production licensing?

    Hi,
the font must be know on the ADS Server and the ADS Printer device type.
The device type configuration stands in a *.XDC file.
In device type "POST2" are only following fonts available: Arial, AvantGarde, Bookman, Courier, Helvetica, Marigold, NewCenturySchlbk, Palatino, Symbol, Times-Roman, Wingdings, ZapfChancery and ZapfDingbats.

  • V15 XML Loader Access To Path Not Allowed

We are just starting to test our V15 sandbox system that has just been upgraded.  We have a transaction that works fine in our older environment (V12.2) but the same transaction fails in V15. The first sequence in the transaction is an XML Loader that tries to load and XML configuration file from the local MII server where the transaction is running.  The action fails with a Access to path /directoryNameHere/fileNameHere.xml is not allowed error.
As far as we can tell, all of the filesystem/OS level permissions (Linux in our case) are the same as they are in our old environment.
Other than file/directory permissions, any ideas why this might fail?  Has anything changed in V15 that would potentially impact this?
We are not specifying a Credential Store alias (listed as optional).
    Thank you,
    Mike

At some point a 'Default File Path' parameter was added as a system property and it's value may be causing your issue.
System Properties - SAP Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence - SAP Library

    DefaultFilePath
The path on the file system (along with the subfolders) used to store files that need to be accessed by the following workbench actions for read/write operations:

    CreateDirectory
    CreateZipArchive
    DeleteFile
    GetFileList

    Note

If the path is empty, you can access the file system, provided the file system provides read/write permissions. The same holds good for prior releases.

  • PDF Formats

I normally send pdf files to my magazine publishers for print ads that we run. While in InDesign CS2, I export my file with a pdf preset of press quality, compatability of Acrobat 5 (PDF 1.4), and CMYK color (normally Pantone Solid Coated) for all print and images throughout the work. When our ads print, the color on the text and images seem to be dull and not as bright and vivid as I intend it to be. I know this may be a printer issue, but I want to cover all possibilities and see if there is something I may be doing wrong when exporting my file. Am I using the correct preset and compatability? Are there other options that need to be considered in the exporting process? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not all CMYK is created equal :(.
That's a big part of the reason why the industry is moving towards color managed color, and standards like PDF/X-3 and PDF/X-4.
