Adsense problem on iweb pages posted on .mac

with iWeb we have a perfect tool to publish easily from our mac on me.com
BIG PROBLEM: Google adwords does not allow you to post via mac on me.com and wants you to use the complete and total reference, instead of the simple and easier sitename.
trying to talk to google people is fairly impossible, like talking to a wall. they don t understand that
a. me.com is the general mac site for iweb users
b. posting an ad with something like me.com/mepossem/user/bienvenidos.html is a bit counterproductive, and www.alicanterestaurante.com is 'a bit' easier.
makes one wonder what the intelligence level is at google ...
conclusion: don t lose your time if you have an apple mac website, and just simply go to yahoo. unless someone can come up with a solution ....

ok Roddy, you made your point we should not host on .mac etc. so if someone can (maybe) come up with a solution that has any sense?
or are we down to 'forget about .mac'? not very interested as i want to keep the management of the site to myself, due to frequent changes I have to make into it, and both .mac and iWeb suit me perfectly. I am about once or twice on national TV or radio here in Spain, and updating the website with this combination of tools is what I want.
imho Google are just simply being fastidious, as the real influence is about nil ....

  • Web pages posted to .Mac using iWeb do not render correctly on IE

Okay, let's face it - most people out there use Internet Explorer (IE) to view web pages. I just published my web page using iWeb onto my iMac account. The web site renders correctly on my Mac, but does not render correctly on my PC using IE at work. Several other people using IE saw similar problems. For example, IE does not show the links until you run your mouse over them. Also, the text renders as an image (you cannot select text individualy). What do I do to ensure that all the world views the site correctly? Thanks.

    Welcome to the discussions, stoma.
You'll have to essentially dumb your site down to IE level. Get rid of the cool effects, the transparencies, the rotated images, basically everything that makes iWeb so impressive to use. Make a nice plain site with no frills and you're 90% of the way to near 100% IE compatibility.
Take all of your images and edit them outside of iWeb (like with other web applications) and that's another significant chunk. There will be a few bits left over, but some of those will be things you can't do anything about (like some of the page elements being created as .png's). You'll be as close to IE compatible as you can get with iWeb.
Post your URL to let other users post as to what your SPECIFIC site would need.

  • How do I delete sites created with iWeb and posted with .mac after a format

I am confused about how to delete a couple of sites that I created with iWeb and posted with my .mac after I did a format reload?
I have tried everything. The original files are not on my MacBook Pro because of the format.
I also see them in my idisc, but I is my understanding that on my MacBook Pro that I can delete the files, but they are hosted online. On the online idisk I cannot delete them because there is no option. Please help!!!

Using the file menu in Finder:
    Go/iDisk/My iDisk/Web/Sites/iWeb/YourSitesAreHere
Highlight selected files and Command/Delete. You will receive a drop down asking you if you are sure; click OK and the files/sites will be deleted immediately from the iDisk.

  • Problems publishing iWeb page to my website

Hello, I'm having a heck of a time trying to get my iWeb page published to the free host server I chose. I have a subdomain name and account at atspace.com and no matter what I do, the darn webpage will not work. I'm a complete newbie to webpage publishing although I have decent knowledge of computers. I went through the entire process of making my page on iWeb, then published it to a folder on my computer, and then have been trying to upload the page to the site using cyberduck, and yet every single time I try to upload any file from the web page, cyberduck connects, but then says the following: ftp error cannot create folder, /About _files About: Permission denied. I've followed all of the steps I'm supposed to from help sites on the web about how to publish an iWeb page to a free host server and it even is connecting to my server, but when I try to upload the actual pages, it won't work. I even downloaded WebEcho as well, and same thing, WebEcho says it worked and that everything is great, and yet I visit the site and nothing works. If I go to my website address it just comes up blank and says that safari can not find the server. I am at my wits end and am becoming incredibly upset with the whole thing. I don't know if iWeb is not working, or the server is not working. I have an account with the server though, I registered the subdomain name, and when I test the connection, it works, but when I type the website address in my browser, it doesn't work. If someone could help me figure this out, I would be very happy and appreciative. Thanks in advance.

To summarize: you use Cyberduck to upload the files to the server.
If that's the case it's not an iWeb issue. Its role ends when the pages are published to the folder on your desktop.
If Cyberduck cannot create folders on the server then you have to find out what the problem is. Either on the server or with Cyberduck.
On basic question is : do you publish to the correct folder on the server? It's usually named public_html, html-docs. Check with your webhost.
+*Not sure what you mean by is it published to the correct folder on the server. I published the page onto my computer, it's in the sites folder on my hard drive. iWeb says it's uploaded or whatever and would I like to visit the site. So I click yes and it takes me to this website: file:///Users/ryanfick/Desktop/Ryan%20Fick/About%20.html This is not the server or the subdomain name I registered so I'm not sure what this is. It works though and I can navigate around the website, but when I go to the website I have a subdomain name at, it doesn't find it. Plus, I have no idea what public_html or html-docs means or is, you would need to explain that to me for me to know what or how to find it or use it.*+
BTW, why not use iWeb to do the publishing. Enter the details in the FTP setup. But check the details with your host first. If Cyberduck cannot publish the pages, then iWeb cannot either.
+*I have already tried to use iWeb to publish the site as I mentioned above, but nothing is working. Thanks for the quick response, but I'm almost completely lost on almost everything you asked or talked about. I'm a newbie to webpages and ftp and such. I have no idea on most of the questions and comments. I do have a few questions. Do I need to manually go to atspace.com and upload all the files individually? There are like a thousand files under the main files. And second, I've been trying to use Easy iWeb to publish it and it is asking me to input a folder to input on to the website that your iWebsite will be published to. I have no idea what this means or what it wants. It says to leave blank if you want to publish it to the top level of your website. So I left it blank and clicked on check configuration and it says configuration OK. So then I go back to the main page and click on publish to web and it says Ready, uploading, then failed to upload file: About .html at /Users/ Does this help at all? What do I need to do, what is going wrong? I feel like I am in bizarrO world right now where right is wrong and wrong is right and nothing works. Thanks*+

  • Problem viewing iWeb pages on PC

Hi, this may have been addressed already, but I didn't see it anywhere. I believe I have v1.1. I have a couple of issues. One, the fonts that are "loaded" to the template, don't even show up correctly on safari or any other browser I have. So I had to go with very generic fonts.
The main thing, though, is once I get the site published, it looks fine on my mac. But when I try to access the site on a PC, the text and pictures sit on top of each other, so you can't read anything on the blog.
Anyone know how to fix this??
    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I'm having similar problems... Everything looks fine on the mac but PC's can't view the page correctly... now I am attempting to post videos and my question is, does iWeb require quicktime to view video files even if they are avi, or wmv? Because on the PC's I have tested windows media player does not attempt to view.. it just wants me to download quicktime.

  • Problems with iWeb podcast at dot.mac

One of my PC/Windows XP friends can't play audio from my podcast created in Garageband & iWeb at dot.mac. QT will not open. He has the latest version of QT for Windows and no ISP problems that I know of. The files are quite big but fine with Mac OSX and several other other Windows users.

    I'm attempting to open your:
    A%20Visitation%20from%20Lawrence%20Russell.m4a
file using the Open URL feature of QuickTime. I purposely truncated the URL.
I'm a pitiful dial-up user and it appears your file isn't set to "fast start" so the entire download must happen (not for me) before playback can begin.
If the file (and the page code) were to allow "fast start" the playback would begin as soon as enough data was downloaded. The page code is set to autoplay="false" (iWeb default settings as I suspected).
You could edit the published html file and change it to "true" but it may not be the bother.
Check the export settings used to create the .m4a file. Be sure to "enable" fast start. Your visitors could (should) be instructed to click the playback button on the QuickTime controller, also. Those with fast connections should (could) get faster audio playback.

  • How can I add metadata to iWeb pages hosted on .mac?

How can I add title/description/keyword metadata to my website?
    Is there an easy solution?
I publish my site to my .mac account.
Any direction would be appreciated. I work in the web marketing industry, so it bugs me not being able to add metadata to my site.
    Thanks!
    Macbook   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

So I find the folder: Welcome_files for example
Then do I open up the Welcome.js file using text
    editor?
When I add the metadata, then do I Save As and put
the file back into the Welcome_files folder?
Actually every page like Welcome has a Welcome.html file and then a folder "Welcome_files". The file you want to edit is the Welcome.html file. Not anything in the folder.
Do I need to Publish again, or is that process
automatic since the site is pulling from down from my
    iDisk?
Nope don't publish again. That would just overwrite you changes again. Just save the file in the same place and you're done.
Will I have to re-enter metadata every time that the
page changes, or every time the site changes?
Anytime iWeb thinks the page needs to be republished, your edited file will be overwritten.

  • Upload photos and text to an existing iWeb page from an internet cafe?

    Hi,
I plan to do a trip and created already an iWeb page on my .mac account. During my trip, I would now like to upload pictures and personal comments on my existing webpage. Can I do this in an normal internet cafe via my internet .mac account?
I have checked this internet account and there is a button "web page" but my original webpage does not appear.
    Thanks for your help!

You can't modify anything in an iWeb site except by using a Mac with iWeb installed and also the Domain file that created the site.
.Mac Web Galleries let you upload photos by email.

  • Best type of video files to post on iWeb pages?

I am a teacher and I am posting Screencasts that I record of my lessons each day on my website created by iWeb '09. I have been exporting them as either .mov files or .mp4 files (both H.264) and playing them in a Flash "wrapper". I have been using a Flash "wrapper" thinking that more people have the ability to play flash than quicktime. However, what I have noticed on an old Mac Mini that my daughter has is that the H.264 files played within the wrapper tend to hesitate while playing. If I just "drop" the file in an iWeb page, it seems to play without the hesitation (on the old Mac Mini). (By the way...these files are mostly around 50-70 mb in size.) The problem is that most of my students have PC's and it seems that every year there are at least a few that have problems playing the quicktime files (which is why I went the way of the wrapper). Anyone have any advice on the best video for all?

    Terry Daniels wrote:
Will an iPhone or iTouch play these files?
Have you looked at the video playback requirements on the specifications page? You will find your answer there.
The older MPEG-4 video codec would work with QuickTime 5, or higher, installed.
In obvious terms this means that a computer (PC) that does not have Quicktime player installed will not play the MPEG-4 file.
If you wanted to go that route you could encode a WMV file for PC users and a MPEG-4 file for Mac users then use a server side script to determine the users' browser and display the appropriate file. This method is beyond the scope of novice iWeb design, however.

  • IWeb pages slow to upload when you want to view from .Mac

I've finally uploaded by website. I intially had a website on Yahoo but loved the ease of use with iWeb. However, I do not like losing my domain name so I linked my new .Mac website address to my Yahoo site (www.inabindstudio.com). There is a link there to take you to .Mac. I've noticed that is takes a while to get the pages to load. You see HTML coding and then the page slowly builds up. I am not that tech savvy, so I need someone to tell me is this normal? How can I get these pages to load up faster? Hope this makes sense.
    Thanks.
    G4 Powerbook Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    Hi Tassy,
I also have noticed iWeb pages do tend to load a lot slower than websites built via other methods. This is true even when you host an iWeb site from somewhere other than .Mac.
From what I have read here in the discussions, the problem is in the kind of files iWeb creates to make the pages look really nice and uniform - they use a lot of PNG images. These are generally larger files than JPEG images, but many people agree the result is a better looking page. But the flipside of that, is that viewers with a slower connection speed will see the page load fairly slowly, and it can be very pronounced in some cases.
There's no good workaround right now. Hopefully in future patches and updates Apple can improve things. Its something that has been discussed on this forum at length. If you are interested in finding out more you can search iWeb Discussions for discussions on slow loading iWeb sites, and you will find many posts like this one

  • After 24 hours, my iweb pages finally posted!  Is it me? Iweb? Mobileme?

After 24 hours, my iweb pages finally posted! Is it me? Iweb? Mobileme? All the above? I'd really like to know before my family kills me for tying up all of our bandwidth for the entire day again. Yes besides taking forever to upload, the process seems to have halted my entire home network.
I spent an hour on the phone with apple today (103297246) to have tech one say it was mobile me and tech two say it was iweb. I called time warner to see if they had throttled down my internet because I was uploading-LOL getting an answer there.
I may be the problem. To add my albums to iweb, I just dragged them to an album page on iweb. Here is an example:
    http://web.me.com/tedcarlos/Friends/Friends/Friends.html
I am wondering if I should have clicked the iweb button to do this when I wanted to take them out of iphoto and put them in iweb? In the past doing this with movies to iDVD has been sooo time consuming I thought dragging would be easier and that iweb would scale them accordingly. Anyone know anything about this?
Another question I have is about iweb. Why does the thing offer to upload part of your iweb sites at a time, but when it actually begins the process, it appears to upload everything? Apple had no explanation for this except to say they were working on it. Could this be the source of the slowdown?
Another thought is iweb's interface with mobile me. Could it just be off? Could I just publish my sites to folder and then drag to my idisc? If so does it take everything?
Any help of thoughts on these subjects would be most appreciated. Thank's
    Theo

I usually apply some common sense before calling support.
I also prepare my stuff before publishing it.
So, after some assumptions and using the calculator:
    418 photos @ 0.350MB a piece = 146MB
    29 movies @ 15MB a piece = 435MB
    Total = 581MB = 0.5GB
That takes some time. No need for support, just patience.
Also, it's good practice not to dump everything from the camera straight on the page. Especially AVI movies do not work well in webpages.
    Magic word: iMovie
    Hope this helps.

  • My iweb pages were created on another mac--what now?

A friend helped me create a web site. But he did it using iweb '08 on his Mac and using (I think) his .mac account. Now we're trying to move what he did onto MY mac.. The files are on my computer now and i have iweb '08. Here's the problem: although I can view the pages if I click on them, they're not opening up in my iweb. Does this mean they're not really publishing under my name and won't work with my e-mail and domain? Do I have to create the pages again, and start from scratch on my computer?
    Thanks . . .

I appreciate the response, but it's still not working. Here's what I did: got a folder called "sites" from my friend which included something called html.index and another folder with several sub folders that I believe are the nuts and bolts of my site. I took the whole thing and placed it in Library/applications support/iweb. But when I open up iweb, all I see is the program's default template page.
Did I copy the wrong thing? Do I need to go into a different menu of my iweb to find my stuff?
    Thanks, again, for your help . . . .
