ADSL Disconnects when my mac connects to the network or when ever it wants

Hi there.
My MacBook Pro Loves to pull fits on the Network.
What it dose is when i open the lid on my laptop it disconnects the internet. So the ADSL Light Turns off on the router.
Whats wrong with it?

Other people on the network have no issues with bit torrent
Yes but they may be using all the routers resources.
If you have multiple devices on the network the router may just be crashing. I have seen this before with thompson routers. I have seen Thompson 780wl crash with more than 3 devices connected to it. When used with 1 device it was fine.
Dlink in my experience are buggy at the best of times. I would suggest you flash your router with the latest firmware you can download from dlink.
I would suggest as william indicated replacing your router with a more efficient one.

  • My home wifi is available at full bars on the settings menu, but when selected it says it cannot be joined, and when it does connect, it only lasts a few seconds before disconnecting. My laptop connects to the wifi perfectly fine though. Help?

When in the Wi-Fi menu under settings, my iPod five will display the different wifi networks in range, including my home wifi network. The shown network has full bars and my laptop will connect to the network with no trouble. When the wifi on my ipod is selected though, it will show it is loading to connect, it will actually connect for five-ten or sometimes twenty seconds, and then it will disconnect. The wifi never automatically connects on my iPod5. It always has to be done manually and then does not establish a complete connection. No matter where I stand in the house, even if it is right beside the router, this happens. Sometimes when the network is chosen it refuses to connect and gives the message "Unable to Join". I've had it for a year and a half and for about the first six months it never had this problem. But then it began, and it would go through monthly cycles of working perfectly and doing what it is doing now. As of now I haven't been able to connect for three months. I'd like to think it's simply the wifi itself but mine and my sibling's laptops will connect with no trouble. It's extremely frustrating and I have no idea how to handle the problem. Please help?

Hey Saanasaana, Have you tried going into Settings>General>Reset and tapping Reset All Settings. If still no joy... Reset Network Settings and rebooting the router. If that doesn't do it, try Settings then tap the offending Wi-Fi Network, then tap Forget this Network and re-load it, as if it was a new network.
Your next options are to Restore. Connect to your iPod with your computer with the cable, and make new backups / copies of all your stuff to your computer first, then Restore from Backup. If that does not solve, Restore to New, a full restore. Note restore to new will wipe you iPod put it back to factory specs, that's why your need to make backups of everything on your iPod before you do it so you can reload your stuff back to your iPod. If the full restore does not solve you may have a hardware issue, contact your Apple store or Apple Genius Bar and set up an appointment to have your iPod evaluated. Good luck. Cheers.

looks like this is your network connection settings problem, you'd better only keep one network adaptor online and linked, if you do not understand how to setup windows routing, this is completely not firefox problem. buddy. wish you goodluck.

  • Extended network with 2 Airport Expresses, Mac connects to the far away one

I have two Airport Express 802.11n units that are set up as an extended wireless network. This is not done using WDS, but instead using the "Extend wireless network" option on the 2nd Express. I do this to get extended coverage in my apartment.
Most of the time this works flawlessly. However, sometimes my Mac connects to the wrong Express (e.g. the one that's further away). I notice this because I don't have full bars on my Mac's wifi icon. When I go into the Airport Utility, choose the far away Express, go to the Advanced tab and click "Logs and statistics", I can confirm that my Mac is in fact connected to the far away Express.
If I disconnect and reconnect my Mac from the network, it will most likely then connect the closer Express and my signal will vastly improve. I can confirm that it is connected to the right Express using the Airport Utility.
Does anyone know why this happens, and is there a way to force my Mac to connect to the closer Express?

Hello nonnynz. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Does anyone know why this happens, and is there a way to force my Mac to connect to the closer Express?
It would be quite logical to assume that the algorithms Apple employs to connect to a wireless router would connect your Mac to the closest (or one with the strongest signal) but it doesn't always work out that way. Furthermore, Apple hasn't released the specifics on how this algorithm is supposed to work so it may be a bit difficult to answer your question with any facts to support it.
... and no, as far as I know, there isn't a sure-fire way to force your Mac to pick the desired base station. Something that comes to mind is to change the Multicast Rate, under Wireless Options in the AirPort Utility, to a higher value for the base station that you don't want your Mac to connect to first ... but this may only be of value if you keep your Mac near the other station and would cause the opposite effect when you move to the one you just adjusted.

  • Why can I connect to my home network with my iPhone 5 in one room, but when I move to another it is 'unable to connect to the network'

At home, I can connect my iPhone 5 to my home wifi network with no problems, as long as I stay downstairs.
As soon as I go upstairs my phone disconnects from the network. I can still see the home network it in the available network lists (with full signal strength), but when I try to reconnect I get an 'unable to connect to the network message'
If I move back downstairs it reconnects
This has only started happening in the past week or so
I've tried to forget and rejoin the network, but this doesn't work
I reset my network settings on the phone. This worked for a couple of hours and I could connect to the wifi upstairs, but now it won't connect again.
Does anyone have any ideas what is causing this?

Sounds like your wi-fi signal strength has degraded.  Try rebooting your wi-fi router, or get it serviced.
Do you have similar issues with any other wi-fi routers?

  • I have a Time Capsule as my router.  I can connect wirelessly to the network and internet with my MBPr, but my Mac Mini will only connect to the network wired or wirelessly. Airport on it sees the internet as green, but will not connect.

I have the Time Capsule hooked to a wireless modem.  It uses a static IP, which is put in and running.  The MBPr connects, as well as my iPhone 5, to the internet and network without problem.  I can see the Mac Mini, external drive attached to it, and the Time Capsule.  The Mac Mini connects to the network wired or wirelessly, but not to the internet.  On wireless, using AirPort the Internet shows green, but no connection when I open Safari.  The settings under network settings are identical except for LAN IP between the Mac Mini and the MBPr.  I was hoping someone might have an idea of what was going on.  Before I moved the Time Capsule was on Bridge mode from another router, now it is on DHCP and NAT for the internal network.

No, its is connected direct to the providers fiber box.

  • When using Parallels for Windows 7, I cannot connect to Wi-Fi. I get drop down menu "Real Network Adapter Thunderbolt Bridge used by Virtual Adapter 1 is not connected to the network". How do I fix?

When I try to connect to internet wirelessly (Parallels/Windows 7 on my Mac Pro) I get a drop down that says "Real Network adapter thunderbolt bridge used by virtual adapter 1 is not connected to the network". I can not figure out how to connect - any help is appreciated!

Since you are having trouble with Parallels or Windows, did you ask in their respective support forums? If not, you might want to consider doing so.

  • Warning by NAC when a new Pcs connecte to the network

    Hi All,
I have a NAC is configured to authenticate users through the NAC by local BD and just use vlan mapping mac-address filter list.
I  would like to control new Pcs connection to the network ; when a new  mac-address -- PC ,laptop or any other mac based device is connected ,  then The NAC Monitoring should be make an alert or a warning to the " Network admin ". Thereby the Network Admin is more active in monitoring whole network.
Any good solutions, suggestions are many appriciations from my heart!!!

    Hi,
if you are into the mac address monitoring I think the NAC profiler is made for you.
It can recognize hundreds of kind of devices from their behavior (DHCP, ARP, ...) and it classifies any device you plug on the network. You can even make custom rules if you have very specific products.
So you can determine "Cisco 9971 phones will go to this vlan" and any 9971 phone you bring in the future will be added in the NAC list.
It can also do this "monitoring" you are talking about, you can put any new mac address in a special category. And from there Profiler shows you its location and current behavior (what profiler thinks it is).

  • My iChat keeps saying disconnected but i have connection to the internet

Hi I was wondering what I should do since my iChat keeps saying I'm disconnected but i have connection to the internet. What should i do?

    Hi,
Port 443 should be available all the time in most routing devices.
Other ports that iChat uses may not be open.
However iChat is much more sensitive to minor breaks in the Internet service/WiFi than say a Web Browser or Mail as iChat is Always On where as a Browser or mail are only "now and then" apps.

  • When trying to use the apps message received is not connected to the network

My printer is connected and I can print from the ipad and the laptop, but when I try to use one of the apps to print something.  I get an error message that the printer in not connected to the network.  I have tried all the trouble shooting tips and when printing out the wireless network test results, it says no problems found.  Please help, this is a brand new printer purchased on 08/30/2012.

I believe I have the same problem.  I get "Server Connection Error: -1".  This only occurs on weekends (Sunday).  Is this because someone turns off the server on the weekends?
There is nothing available to describe what this error message means.
