ADSL internet connection, High SNR rates and buffe...

I have the following issues:
Constant speed (but think this is due to IP profile?, Slower than previous.
High SNR rates up and down.
After 5.30pm, Seems that iplayer and smart tv are useless, the wheel is spinning but the hamster is dead scenario.

Your profile is ok for your conenction speed. You need a faster conenction to get a higher profile so if your noise margin was reduced to 6db which is normal then that would increase your conenction speed giving higher profile and faster download speed
your current connection speed should be enough to stream to the tv
the mods will post a contact us link and reset noise margin to 6db.

I am experiencing wireless connection problem on 4s after ios 8.1 upgrade. The wireless icon appears showing that it's connected but webpages do not load. I have checked my internet connection with other devices and seems to be alright. what to do?

Hi, just bought my daughter an Iphone 4s and I can't get it to let her on youtube, Facebook etc., keeps saying no internet connection. My husband and I have 3G smartphones and we can get on them on ours, so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Also, my other daughter has the same phone and has no trouble getting on these sites either. Hi, I would be very grateful if someone could tell me how to disconnect internet connection in Time Capsule and reconnect without restarting the whole device?
The thing is that as I have a dynamic IP address, everytime I restart the internet connection my IP address changes. I sometimes need it to change, so I need to restart the connection. I don't know another way to restart the connection than restarting the whole Time Capsule.

PD: the computer I use is Windows based, using the Airport Utility for Windows, but I also have a MacBook Pro I could use and an iPhone too.The utility in windows is very like Mac so the screenshots are from Mac as I don't have windows available now.
How this works depends on the setup of the TC.. which you did not tell us.. you cannot change anything if you do not have the TC as the main router in the network.
So on the internet tab you need to share a public IP address.
On the next tab where you set IP address.
Click the renew IP address.
It might work.. and it might not.. the problem is you are not disconnecting the network.. sometimes the hard disconnection is required before the address will renew..
What about unplugging the WAN port.. then click renew the IP which will fail.. then plug the wan back in again.
In the end it is easier and faster to power cycle the TC. -
I just got a Mac and I use the same internet connection as my mom and my brother, who has an iPad. He can click on something that has my name and then Macbook Air, and is able to see everything on my computer screen. How do I fix this so he cant see what i am doing on my computer?
No, I made sure nothing was checked for that section when i found out he could see my screen. At the top it says "computers on your local network can access your computer at: blah blah". I think thats how hes doing it but i dont know how to fix it.

I have a PC with a internet connection through a modem and ever since i have had it i have had no connection to the itunes store. And even if I try to update anything it says that i need to check my connection, but my connection is fine. What should I do?
This almost always indicates your firewall or anti-virus utilities are preventing iTunes from contacting the iTunes Store. Here is an exerpt from "Can't connect to the iTunes Store": http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1368

Firewall issues:

The "hosts" file may be blocking the iTunes Store
Microsoft's article How do I reset the hosts file back to the default? has instructions and a "FixIt" to have Windows try to reset the hosts defaults for you.
Note: Some workplaces may put internal resources in the hosts file but may also use it to block iTunes Store.
To create a copy of your hosts file and replace it with an empty hosts file, follow the instructions for your operating system below. -

I have very similar problem. Suddenly Firefox stopped work - It was working few days after ver. 4 update. I was looking everywhere for some solution but nothing worked.
- uninstalled firewall - did not worked
- added full exception for Firefox into the firewall - did not worked
- Firefox reinstall - did not worked
- Firefox complete reinstall (registry included) - did not worked
- IPv6 diseabling - did not worked
- diferent proxy options (no proxy, system proxy, autodetect proxy) - did not worked
- new firefox profile - did not worked
- complete coockies, history... deleted - did not worked
- there is only one solution which partly works - I have used public proxy addresses for Firefox but the ping is (750ms), down/up (0.8MB/0.2MB originaly (10MB/2MB) and yes I have tried different proxy server from different countries from my included.
- IE is working perfectly and without proxy
- other companies browser - did not worked too
- only IE is working
- I have used three different malware, trojans, spyware, anti-virus programs and nothing
It seems to me as hopeless situation or very clever move from Microsoft, I am forced to use IE - at least this works
Any ideas, solutions?

I have this scenario on my small network with 10 PCs (connecting from outside to inside my network):
1) Modem with ADSL connection
2) Wireless Router with public IP on WAN interface
3) Switch
4) Server 2012 with DC/DHCP/DNS (with 2 NICs) and others servers/desktops machines
I want to share internet to servers and desktops.
I was able to share internet by 2 methods searching on google, but I am not satisfied with them:
First method - Using the Wireless Router and its DHCP Server
I turned on the DHCP inside the Wireless Router. All machines will get an IP and be able to go to Internet, but I don’t have the ability to control the DHCP and DNS in the router
how I would like to have, because the server DHCP and DNS must be turned off on Windows Server.
Second method - Using the Windows Server RRAS NAT, DHCP and DNS server
I have 2 NICs on the server:
NIC1 - CONNECTED TO SWITCH
IP: 192.168.1.1
MSK: 255.255.255.0
GTW:192.168.1.1
DNS:192.168.1.1
NIC2 - CONNECTED TO WIRELESS ROUTER
(the LAN IP of the wireless router is 172.16.0.1)
IP: 172.16.0.2
MSK: 255.255.0.0
GTW: 172.16.0.1
DNS: 172.16.0.1
After installing and setting the RRAS with NAT at the Server, the internet began to work on all machines but at some times the internet stop to load some
random webpages, and if you hit a couple of times the F5 button, the webpage open sometimes, but very, very slow.
I saw other people in foruns saying that RRAS is not very good, and could cause weird things at internet connection, so, now I think the internet is horrible
because of RRAS. After notice that internet is bad I tested it connecting a cable direct to the lan ports of the Wireless Router, and the internet works fast and perfect.
What is the best thing to do in my case to maintain Windows Server DHCP and DNS turned on and Internet be shared without loss of quality?

please deploy according to this network topology. please turn off DHCP from router and use internal NAT function to share internet. Detailed configurations:
Router part:
LAN address: 192.168.1.1/24
DHCP part:
scope name : site name
address pool: 192.168.1.3-192.168.1.254
scope options:

DNS server:192.168.1.2
DNS part:
configure a forwarder to point to the public DNS address such as 8.8.8.8
with these settings, you can maintain Windows Server DHCP and DNS turned on and Internet be shared via hardware router.

C440 Internet connectivity problem Windows 8 and Now with windows 10
This has been an ongong problem with this machine. It will suddenly stop connecting to the internet. Can ping DNS server by IP, can ping internet IP addresses, all other computers in the house can still connect. Have disabled and reenabled the ethernet.Attempted to repair with windows, no luckflush dns and winsock, no luckturn firewall off and back on but still no luckmake static IP address and static DNS still nothingback to dynamic IP address, nothing. Ipconfig release and renew, still nothing. Reboot the computer and it works for now. This issue happens repeatedly any ideas?

May I know the model of your wireless adapter (e.g., Atheros AR9485) and the version of the driver that you're running.
In addition to the troubleshooting steps that you've tried, can you consider doing the following:
1. Run Windows Update to get the latest patch and bug fixes for the OS.
2. Set the power plan to High Performance.
3. Open Device Manager > Network Adapters then right click on the wireless adapter (choose Properties) > Power Management Tab > Uncheck“Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” then hit Ok.

If you're using a driver from the Windows Update, consider using the Windows 8.1 driver from the C440 drivers page (run it in compatibility mode if necessary) and observe.

Tethered internet connection between iPhone 4 and iMac disconnecting unexpectedly
My tethered internet connection to my iphone 4 keeps disconnecting.. Imac shows disconnected but iPhone 4 shows personal hotspot still connected. I am currently using the iMac's air port to connect. My service provider is AT & T. I made sure the software on both iMac and phone were up to date, making sure to stay on the personal hotspot screen on my phone while connected.. Any thoughts?
Well, one of them needs an ISP, I think some phones can be used as a Modem for a computer, but aren't the data rates exorbitant when using the iPhone?

First, are you using Wifi for Internet on the MBP?
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list, Wifi on the MBP.
In Shating on both, enable File Sharing, Screen Sharing, & Web Sharing on both.
Then with the Ethernet cable between the two, find the IPs of both, or use Finder>Go>Connect to Server>Browse... see what shows up. -
Internet Connection Message at startup and various moments of the day
I started out using a dial-up connection, then later upgraded to ethernet. Now, everytime I start up my iMac I get a Internet Connection message. Here's what it says, The selected communications device does not exist. Please verify your settings and try again. I click ok and my wirless still works. Then, later during my session I get the message again. Any thoughts on how to get rid of this message? Thanks in advance.

The issue with your problem is working out specifically which 'communications device' the Mac is complaining about. It's presumably the modem, but that's not necessarily the case.
The first place to look would be in System Preferences -> Network.
What network ports are enabled there? If the modem is still listed and is the preferred connection (it's at the top), then the Mac is going to try to use the modem and fall-back to the ethernet network if the modem fails.
If that is the case the solution is simple - just use the Show popup menu in Network Preferences to select Network Port Configurations. Here you can enable and disable different ports, as well as change their priority (by dragging them up/down).
Either drag the ethernet port to the top of the list or, if you never expect to go back to the modem, disable the modem option. -
Using Airport Express as internet connection for one Mac and one PC
Will probably be judged a complete dork for this question. I have successfully set up my Imac G5 to run an internet connection through an Airport express. My partner runs a PC (Windows XP) and I want to connect this too. Have installed a USB wireless card on the PC, and installed Airport Utility, but it just won't find the Airport Express - it will however find the Imac with something like 96% signal strength. So I set up a network on the Mac and have successfully linked into it with the PC, but it soon comes up with a connectivity problem that will not allow internet browsing. So two questions - can I connect two computers to the Airport Express at once for internet browsing, or do I have to do it through linking the PC to a wireless network? If the latter is the route - any ideas on what the connectivity issue will be? Help!
No, not if the AirPort Express "joins" the wireless network.
No, I do not want to join a network.
It is possible to have the AirPort Express "create" a separate wireless network that would not have access to the Internet, but if you did this, you would need to log off of your normal network....(losing your Internet connection) and then log onto the AirPort Express network when you wanted to listen to AirPlay.
Then, when you wanted to have Internet access, you would have to log off of the AirPort Express network and log back onto your normal wireless network.
Ok, I understand that it is not possible to use airport express only for sound streaming while having an Internet connection at the same time. Airport express does need to join a network if I want sound streaming next an Internet connection. I wanted airport express not to get into way of my Internet connection because in this case the sound streaming messes up sometimes. When I configure airport express only as a sound output, the problems I encounter fade away but then I cannot access to the Internet. Anyhow thanks a lot for the answer.
