ADSL2+ Live, How long for service upgrade?
I live in Thaxted (EATHA Exchange) and having just checked my exchange, via samknows, I am surprised to see that a 21CN WBC date is set for 31/07/2012. I thought that we were going to be ignored completely by BT (beyond ADSL Max), so am very very happy to see that the upgrade is taking place.
I have done some further digging and BTW info says WBC 21CN live date between 01/07/2012 and 31/07/2012. Also having checked on BTW's ADSL availablity checker I get the following:
Your exchange is ADSL enabled, and our initial test on your line indicates that your line should be able to have an ADSL broadband service that provides a fixed line speed up to 2Mbps.
Our test also indicates that your line currently supports an estimated ADSL Max broadband line speed of 8Mbps; typically the line speed would range between 7Mbps and 8Mbps.
Our test also indicates that your line currently supports an estimated ADSL2+ broadband line speed of 17Mbps; typically the line speed would range between 10Mbps and 19.5Mbps. Our test also indicates that your line could support an estimated ADSL 2+ Annex-M broadband upstream line speed of 1.5Mbps and downstream line speed of 17Mbps; typically the downstream speed would range between 10Mbps and 19.5Mbps.
BT Retail says available NOW!
So it seems that the exchange is ready and I would guess that new orders are automatically being put onto WBC 21CN.
I've not had any comm's from BT regarding an upgrade.
Question is, how long will it be before I get upgraded?
Thanks,
We5tyBoy

Where can I find how long until my upgrade?
I have the Motorola Rival and I can not stand this phone! I just stopped working..the screen is blacked out and the keyboard and everything is blank and its done its not working anymore and I want to know how long until my upgrade? I cant find it in My Profile ANYWHERE! HELP PLEASE!
If you call customer service they can tell you how long until your upgrade and if you phone is broke and your not eligible for an upgrade yet ask about gettting a certified pre owned phone. Your allowed one per year but you have to pay for it. I think I got my droid eris to replace my broken phone and it was $169.99+tax and you can have the equipment billed to your next bill.

How long should an upgrade to Mountain Lion take? Our original download was interrupted by power outage, it seems to be taking forever.
Update2: There is something very wrong with wireless on mountain lion recovery. I don't know what the problem is, but this link may explain:
http://osxdaily.com/2012/08/10/os-x-mountain-lion-10-8-1-beta-released-for-dev-t esting-may-include-wi-fi-fix/
Wireless recovery would start out with over 25 hours estimated and kept on failing. It turns out to be a two step process of downloading a few Mbytes then a 4Gbyte .dmg file, but I couldn't even download the Mbyte file. I bought the thunderbolt to gigabit ethernet adapter, plugged it in, restarted recovery and download of a little more than 4Gbytes took less than an hour. My limiting factor was probably comcast home internet rate of 12Mbps. The wi-fi wireless connection should be able to do over 100Mbps, so wireless shouldn't be much slower than wired, except wi-fi wireless is broken. Now that ML is installed and updated, wi-fi seems fine now, as I am using it right now, but I haven't tried downloading a big file yet.
Don't use wi-fi wireless for Mountain Lion recovery. -

Just purchased Lion...how long for the install wirelessly?
Yes, the installer will launch automatically and wait for you when you wake up to proceed with the Lion installation.
Good Luck, and remember to back up your data always before installing operating systems or OS patches. -
Rarcrack - how long for the file with 400 MB ?
Hi everyone
I'm trying to get the password in the encrypted file with 400 MB. It's more time I thought.
If someone have used the program, rarcrack, can you tell me know that get the password with special characters ?
For example:
The encrypted file with 400MB + the passwords "?_123_123_abc_@theworld".
How long for that ?
Thank you very much.
Last edited by luckybc (2014-12-26 06:29:07)Does rarcrack know how long the pass-phrase is or not?
Also, are you using a dictionary/removing obvious choices of pass-phrase to help speed up the process OR are you brute-forcing every single pass-phrase from the ASCII alpha-numeric alphabet + punctuation?
TL;DR: Assuming I've done the Maths correctly, a damn sight longer that you might have thought
Since you haven't said, I'm going to assume YES to the first question and I'm assuming you're brute forcing, to make the maths simpler.
For one character position you're looking at about 26 lower case + 26 upper case + 10 digits + 10 punctuation marks of some sort. So that's 72 characters. You've got 22 characters in the passphrase, so that's a potential of 72^22 = 7.26632672153 x 10^40 pass-phrase combinations.
Now let's assume you're doing this on modern hardware, with an SSD on a single machine which can process something at the rate of 200MB/s. That's two seconds a pass. That'll take you about 2.01842408931 x 10^37 hours.
Disclaimer: I'm working off the assumption that encryption has been used, and that rarcrack would decrypt the whole file on each attempt (pass-phrase protection and encryption are different things...). I don't actually know how it works, but for those that do know how it does, you can probably work out the time from the number of pass-phrase combinations.

how long for the I watch sport to be delivered from buying today 2nd May until it arrives at my door roughly?!
What did the email say that confirmed your order? It states on there an expected delivery date. This is a user to user support forum, so no one here would really know when it would be delivered, only Apple would, and they do not participate in the forum.

How long for upgrade reset after returning a phone to Amazon
I returned a phone purchased at Amazon.com last week and I am wondering how long I should expect it to take for my upgrade to reset. I would like to purchase a phone soon.
ThanksYou may need to contact the Amazon site/seller. If you bought it from them and returned the phone to them then they would have better answers even if they were just the point of sale and Verizon handles the contracts and plans. Typically you have to work with whichever method you chose to buy with.

How much for CS3 Upgrade?
I was trying to get upgrade information regarding Adobe's new
Creative
Suite bundles online, but all the relevant web pages appear
to be down.
I've struck out with technical support, too.
So, if any of you have already researched this, could you
suggest even a
rough estimate of what I might have to pay for Web Premium?
I have Photoshop CS Version 8 on my PC and recently purchased
Dreamweaver 8 for Mac. I want to upgrade to Web Premium for
Mac. At the
very least, it would be helpful to know what kind of upgrade
price
they're offering people who have Dreamweaver 8 only.
Thanks.

>>I did not ask Adobe to trade abroad or establish
offices abroad. None of us
did: we don't want these offices and we don't need them.
But maybe Adobe does. If it were necessary for them to
establish offices and they didn't, I'm fairly sure I'd be reading
posts like "Adobe is snubbing us."
>>Adobe wants these offices and needs them to make more
money.
So you're on Adobe's Board of Directors now? How do you know
their motivation? Also, you stated "why does it take out the extra
expenses only on non-US buyers?" thus implying that if there were
extra expenses involved for doing business worldwide, everyone
should bear the costs including US customers. Say I have 2 clients,
Bob and Mary, and I visit each one to do an in-person consultation.
Part of my rate structure is to charge for mileage for in-person
consultations. Bob lives next door, and Mary lives 50 miles away.
If I go to visit Mary, I don't charge Bob half the cost of when I
go to visit Mary.
>>I just want to be able to download the same software
as my American colleagues for the same money. But Adobe is trying
to force me to buy the same software for a lot more money, citing
localization costs...
Maybe that is one of the reasons, maybe not. Since I'm not on
the Adobe BoD, I'm not going to say "Well it's this reason, or that
reason." When people talk about capitalism, they are funny. First,
they want to charge people what they want for services they
perform, whether it's designing, or cooking, or whatever they do
for a living. However, they scream to high heaven when they
perceive another company to be overpricing their product. For
instance, I can make $25/hour working for a company, or I can
charge 4 times that amount for design work I do on my own. It's the
same work, but the amount paid me is significantly different. The
beauty of this is that if a potential client, or company, doesn't
to pay me that amount, they're free to go elsewhere. If I note a
drastic reduction in demand for my services, I have the choice of
reducing my rates. Who knows? Maybe Adobe will change their
policies if the market shows they're losing money. As I've said, if
you don't want to pay the price, don't buy the software.
>>while it does not even have the courtesey to address
me in my own language on the site I am forced to order from.
You seem to be doing fine with English :-) . Maybe it is a
lack of respect, as you've stated. However:
A) Most web designers can read and write English.
B) Adobe is shooting themselves in the foot by shutting out
the few designers who can't read English, so hopefully that lets
you sleep a bit better at night.
>> So what I'll get for the fortune Adobe wants, is:
American software, with an American interface (no Dutch version
avaiable, not that I would want a Dutch version),
> I fail to see a problem here. You're not getting
something you don't want.
>>Come on: I am paying almost double the price than
Americans pay for exactly the same thing. You don't see a problem?
You are not being serious.
You COMPLEEEEETELY missed the point. You stated that you
don't want a Dutch interface. Adobe doesn't supply one. No problem.
That's like being allergic to seafood and complaining that a
restaurant doesn't serve salmon.
> My anger is growing, and so is my resolve not to
upgrade.
> So don't. It's not like DW is the only web design
program out there. In
> fact, you can probably find an open source program for
free if you really
> look, or just stick with your current version.
>>That is irrelevant and quite a lame argument. I want
to upgrade, and why should I not be able to upgrade at the same
price as my American colleagues?
Why should I be paying for Adobe wanting to branch out?
It is neither irrelevant, NOR is it a lame argument. I don't
want to pay taxes, but I deal with it. Also, as mentioned
previously, I had purchased an education version of Director when I
was a student a long time ago and wanted to upgrade to the
non-educational version. However, Macromedia's policy was I would
have to pay the full price, not just the difference. Guess what? I
didn't buy the full version. I wasn't happy about it, but I dealt
with it. Is someone forcing you to go with Dreamweaver? Is someone
holding a gun to your head? If you want the Spry network, download
it from Adobe's site for free. From everything I've read, Spry
integration is about the only really major difference between CS3
and 8. There are plenty of other web editors out there. No one is
telling you you have to use DW. Also, do you have to upgrade right
now? As mentioned in another post, I haven't upgraded since MX2004.
If people in the EU and elsewhere don't upgrade due to the pricing,
Adobe will probably revisit their policy. Who knows what *all* of
the costs are for selling overseas? Do you?
> This whole issue makes me think of gas prices. It could
be one price at one
> station, but just a mile away (at a station for the same
gas company) it's
> 20%> higher, simply because it's in a different
neighborhood.
>>I fail to see what that has to do with it. Surely
people are not forced to fill
up at the one expensive station?
How did I know you would miss the point on this one also? The
point is that there are different operating costs in different
areas, so the prices fluctuate.
>>They drive a mile further and use the cheaper
station. But Adobe is stopping Europeans and Australians from
driving the extra mile to get cheaper gaz.
Adobe has only one station open to us, and that is the very
expensive one. That
is the problem.
But if it really IS more expensive to sell globally and (due
to factors which neither of us know about) they did need to open
international offices, why should Adobe be obligated to absorb
those costs? Again, if you don't want to pay the extra fees, don't. -
How long does it take for them to ship from china? I was pretty surprised when I saw that it was shipping from shanghai,CN. Unless I have my abreviations wrong and it's somethin else, how long does it take to ship usually when you get the upgraded 60 gig drive
It's really weird. I just recently ordered my iBook w/ iPod (personalized from Apple), and both shipped from China. The iPod's taken around 3 days, and it's in Madison, WI, where I live. My iBook has shipped two days ago and apparently it's still in the FedEx depot in Shanghai, so I'm hoping to get it soon! Yeah, I just check the updates regularly like that...

How long does an upgrade to Yosemite take?
Upgrading from Mavericks, the system appears to be stuck. I'm on the screen with the apple logo and a progress bar. The bar has not moved in an hour and is about half way. This is the screen after the initial install progress screen when an estimated time was provided. There are no extra sounds from the HD indicating any processing.
how long does the process typically take? Is there a way to stop it without totally fouling things?
Thanks,
AnneI Found another thread that had a resolution. Thank you SATopWater for your suggested steps. That appear to be working for me.
This solved my question by SATopWater on Oct 17, 2014 12:41 PM
I'm not recommending this to anyone, just thought I'd report on what worked for me:
- Let Yosemite upgrade sit at the white progress bar screen at 50% for 4 hours.
- Once I was nearly positive it wasn't doing anything like writing to the hard drive...
- Held power button for 10 seconds to turn computer off
- Waited about 10 seconds again
- Turned power on and held Command R (It took about 3 minutes to boot)
- Clicked on WI-Fi symbol on upper right and turned off Wi-Fi
- Selected restart from the System menu option
- Computer rebooted and finished the upgrade
I have since rebooted (twice to be sure) and run a few things and all seems fine at this point.
