I have the 970 gaming motherboard.
there's "limited" overclocking options. plus other stuff too.
is there an advance bios????? right now I'm not seeing "my genie" settings etc.

You mean OC genie?

Does the M55 use Hardware-enforced DEP?
For some reason DEP can't be disabled or modified from Windows XPs GUI or  boot.ini switches.
Boots  back to it's default setting of On  and  OptIn (default configuration) Only Windows system components and services have DEP applied

    Hello Sirald66,
I understand you want to disable wake-on the keyboard, is that correct? I will assist you with this inquiry.
There is not an advanced bios settings available for your current system bios, a possible future upgrade might make it available.
If I understand you correctly on the keyboard issue, you can make those changes in the device manager.
    1.       Open device manager, if you are unsure how to get there have a look at this link.
    2.       Scroll down to keyboard section.
    3.       Click on arrow to the left of keyboard to expand section.
    4.       Right click on keyboard, and then go properties.
    5.       At the top of the next window go to the power management tab, and the option should be there to uncheck.
Please respond back at your earliest convenience.

  • Unlocking advanced BIOS features on GT80

    Hello!
I am a very happy owner of the GT80, and so far everything works perfectly. I was made aware that you can unlock the advanced BIOS features of this machine, but I don't know how. I would like to try them and see what additional features can be tweaked.
Does anyone know how to unlock those features, like with my original MSI GX660R where you only had to hold Shift+CTRL+ALT+Insert ? hehehehe
I am particularly interested in memory clocks, CPU TDP/controls etc. Thank you!

Yes and no. Power consumption meters show that the GT80 with 4980HQ consumes around 326W total system power under load. That CPU can consume up to 80W on its own, while doing its own turbo. Intel 4720HQ can consume near 60W under same turbo conditions.
Obviously the system can take it, as it can hold this for about a minute until intel self regulates to the TDP of 47W. If we could adjust this to the same values the CPU already consume, like 60W, we could significantly improve long term performance.
If you overclock the GPU's though, that will surely consume more power. But at its current 330W psu, we have alot of headroom for the system to operate how it should without problems.
I wish we could set the TDP at 60W for the CPU. IT is quite limited right now when doing intensive tasks, often power throttling (not due to thermals but 47W tdp) and reducing its speed to 3Ghz, or even lower depending on the load. At 60W, we could maintain 3.6Ghz indefinitely.
Due to the low 47W TDP, there is hardly a difference in performance between any of the core i7 HQ processors, after 1 min of operation at full load.

    Hi Levaj,
I’m sorry to hear that the issue persists even after performing the “System Restore” in the computer; the only available option is to perform OSRI (Operating System Re-Install) which will confirm if the issue is Hardware related. To perform OSRI click on OKR (One Key Recovery) button in the computer, below is the link to download the User Guide for the steps to perform OSRI and refer page no. 2 to locate the OKR button and page no. 25 for the steps to perform OKR.
NOTE: Please backup the data in the computer before performing OSRI, as the data will be completely erased.

  • F4 to show advanced bios options not working

Hello, i have a MSI P6N-SLI FI board, with the v27 bios. I'm looking to disable C1E but F4 does not seem to do the trick. I remeber clearly on v25 i think, doing it, but it just dosent want to activate here. Any ideeas?

There is no C1E Option that could be made visible by pressing F4 in BIOS v2.7.  It was still part of BIOS v2.6.  In v2.7, however, it appears to have been removed.
Hit F4 while you are in the "Integrated Peripherals" Section and you will see that the F4-Function itself still works as a new option should appear.
Why would you want to disable C1E Support anyway?
What makes you think that it isn't already disabled?

  • Advanced Bios Features

While I am playing Counter-Strike Source I get an error 'Page Fault Found In A Non Paged Area' The blue screen thing. So anyways I went to the steam website and they said for me to disable all BIOS caching options, because XP does not use these caching features at all. But there are like 3 diffrent BIOS cache options and I dont know which to disable.
there is Internal Cache, System BIOS Cacheable and then C000, 32k Shadow.

DONT touch "internal cache", let it enabled!!! (or your computer will run very slow!)
disable both, system bios and c000 32k shadow ! they are useless, coz thought for dos and wont help you (just eat ram)

  • BIOS Problem with 915P Combo

    Hi there...
I have one MB 915P Combo and i have problems in BIOS configuration.
I go to: Advanced BIOS Features / BOOT SEQUENCE
And have one option Boot from other Device, it have No.
I change to Yes, and reboot and now it is possible to use pen disks.
    The problem:
If i install a program and at the end of installation (for example update IDE/Raid utility) it is necessary to reboot windows , i restart the windows and when go to windows, now is not possible to use pen disks...
    To solve the problem temporaly:
It is necessary to go to the BIOS configuration and Change the Boot from other device to "No"  and reboot... and Change again to "Yes" to work with Pen disk.
And sometimes appears a blue window in Windows with a Device Driver error.
How to solve the problem ?
I have the latest BIOS 1.6
    Thanks.

What if you just normally reboot windows without any new installation? Does it happen the same way?

  • No AHCI in BIOS in Satellite Pro A200

I just installed an ssd and would like to change the bios utility to ahci however there isnt an area that i am able to do this. the Computer is a Toshiba Satellite Pro A200 (psfa1a-003002).
Do I need to update the BIOS? Where do I get the update and how do I update it?

As far as I know BIOS update doesn't offer some additional options. Please check BIOS settings again. In advanced BIOS options there should be SATA option and there you can change between compatibility and AHCI mode.
I have it on my P200. It is almost identical machine but 17 and your is 15 model.

  • Will not enter bios setup

Every time i hit the F1 key on my HP Pavilion 7965 Desktop I get the HP screen and at the bottom of it, the message "Entering SETUP".  However that is as far as it goes.  It just seems to freeze and does not enter setup.  Does any one knows why and how I can get it to finish entering setup?

    Hello darkfant,
Pressing F11 on startup should enter the Advanced BIOS. If you press F11 on boot up does it do the same thing or is it just tied to the normal BIOS?

Change your user config mode in dram configuration to manual and change your memory timing to 1T.  The 1T setting will speed up your memory slightly.

  • [VIA] KT3 Ultra2 - - need to "Assign IRQ to VGA" in Bios but how?

    G'day people,
I am having a little drama with the instalation of a new video card. The system recoginses a hardware device, and nVidia WDM Video Capture (Universal) bbut after driver install, I get an error This device cannot start (Code 10). The FAQ over at nVidia says that:
The Code 10 error is most often a result of not having the option "Assign IRQ to VGA" enabled in your motherboards system BIOS.
My problem is I cannot find how to enable this option in bios. Any ideas? Just going to reboot and edit this post with the BIOS version.
Okay.....When I enter Bios the info say AMIBIOS vers 3.31a.
    Thanks.

Thanks for this help people, I am quite new at this. Only been tinkering for about 5 years.

That's not the right number, I belive what you are looking at is the American Megatrend version, not the actual BIOS string. It's usually at the bottom of the screen.
The only available BIOS versions are 1.X or 5.X depending on the version of mobo you are using. You need to confirm that first.
Okay how about version 5.5 date is 07/10/02.

Okay the sound card is in IRQ17 which it shares with an modem. (???)
Yes I made sure I uninstalled the old graphics card driver before I installed the new one.

  • HP Experts - dm3 Switchable graphics and a lack of bios functionality

I currently own a dm3-1155ea with a switchable integrated 3200 and discrete 4330. I chose to put fedora 14 on my laptop which, when using proprietary graphics drivers (which are pretty much required for anything resembling battery life) only allow you to use the integrated graphics. Wishing to use the 4330, I ventured into the bios only to find a distinct lack of... Well, anything useful.
I've talked to customer support and they've confirmed that the functionality to turn off the integrated graphics exists, but has been deliberately disabled... Why? I understand hiding voltages and stuff or perhaps implementing a hidden yet accessible advanced bios for more advanced users, but doesn't it seem a little excessive completely blocking access to useful features? Features that are presumably there to solve little problems like mine...
So yeah, my question is really why so stingy with the bios features? Also, if you have any alternative suggestions about the switchable graphics in linux issue, I'd welcome them
    Thanks
This thread covers a similar topic and contains additional details - http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware/HP-I-need-you-to-support-your-Hardware/td-p/369867

I also have a laptop with switchable graphics but Intel integrated and ATI 3400 discrete. I run Kubuntu Linux 10.10 and cannot get the ATI proprietary drivers to work properly. My laptop is a Lenovo and it gives BIOS support to set the graphics all integrated, all dedicated or switchable and you can also turn off OS support for switchable. The only way Linux works right for me is to turn off OS support for switchable. Then I can set it to either all integrated or all dedicated. Windows 7 64 bit can run either graphics system, but Linux only sees and works off the integrated graphics, even if the BIOS is set to dedicated! I have no complaint as I still have OpenGL support at least at  a minimal level (can run tuxracer). But if I try to install the add-on proprietary ATI driver I get the Linux equivalent of a blue screen....garbled pixellated log-in screen.

  • GX660 - how to restore BIOS?

    Hello everyone,
a few days go I've tried to disable HPET in the advanced BIOS mode in a "unlocked BIOS" (i needed an unlocked BIOS for use SSD in AHCI mode); after saving BIOS settings and after reboot, I've only a blank screen.
Always seems to be power on but nothing happen...only blank screen.
I've tried to release AC, battery and CMOS battery but nothing change.
There's a way to restore BIOS(usb, cd, other)?
I've read CTRL+Home (where is "Home" button?....I've to use Fn button or 7 on Numeric Pad?) or CTRL+Start(Windows flag) on pressing power button but nothing happen.
    Can you help me?
Thank you very much in advance
P.S. sorry for my bad english

    MSI has answered me:
"There is no recovery BIOS procedure" then I've to send my notebook to MSI assistence.
Now, I'm trying to program a new BIOS EPROM...

With the BIOS revisions is there options to "fix" this and if so where can i get these bios's as the only one on MSI is version 1. See here all talking of v 1.3 and 1.4 but o cant to download them

The current BIOS for the Eclipse plus is version 1.0
With your system you should see 4300 Mhz easy seeing that it is watercooled.
In the BIOS do the following:
Advance BIOS Feature - CPU Feature - disable all except Hyper threading
                                   - Chipset Feature - HPET Disabled
                                   - Trusted Computing - No
Green Power - Disable all except Motherboard Led Control - Auto
Cell Menu - try the following settings
    EIST - Disable
    C-State - Disable
    Base clock - 205
    CPU Ratio - 20 = 4100 Mhz
    OC Dial - Disable
QPI set to Full Speed and 4800 Gts
    Mem Ratio - 3
    Uncore Ratio - 6
    CPU Voltage - +0.15
    QPI Voltage - 1.30
    DRam Voltage - 1.63
    Spread Spectrum - Disable
These setting should give you a stable clock, if not then drop your CPU Ratio to 19 and increase clock to 215
