Advance drag n drop in captivate

I was
wondering if it is possible to create a drag and drop in captivate with images.  here is my scenario
I have 6 landing images then i have 6 images that need to be dragged to the correct landing image.  when the person places all the images on the landing images they can press a submit button and those that are correct stay and those that are incorrect would move back to the original place so they can be dragged again to the landing images.  Is this possible to do using variables in captivate and if so can someone walk me throught he process.
Thanks for any help

Unfortunately, if you want to do this I believe you will have to make a custom drag and drop interaction in Adobe Flash. You can then import this as an animation onto the Captivate timeline.
There should be some nice drag and drop interaction actionscript tutorials/templates on the net, just make sure you know which version of Actionscript you will be publishing in, and make your Flash/Captivate files are the same.(There is a huge difference between AS2 and AS3)
Depending on your requirements, you may also need some extra actionscripting to make a 'complete' button communicate with Captivate to jump to the next slide, for when you are done.

  • How to add Two incorrect feedbacks in Drag and drop in captivate 7.

    Hi
I want to show two different incorrect feedback in drag and drop interaction in Captivate 7. Currently we can show only one even though i have increased the drag and drop attempts to 2. I want to show a try again feedback and incorrect feedback with correct options and this should not be there when the learner re-visits this slide.
Note: I am already using a success caption and have executed the action - "On Enter"  to "Hide" this success caption.
    Please help me with this.

    Hi Sreekanth,
You understanding is correct.  But,it is not even necessary to show the correct sources on correct targets along with the feedback... the correct option numbers in  incorrect feedback will do.
reg point number 3, if I revisit the slide, the feedback are still displayed. For example, in this case, I added a correct feedback, but when I revisit the slide, the feedback was still appearing. So I added this action "On Enter"  to "Hide" this success caption. So that is why i told specifically that none of the feed backs should be there when i revisit the slide.
Sorry Srikanth - I am not familiar with the advanced actions or variables. I have just used some from referring the examples from net. that's all

  • Drag and Drop in Captivate 6

    Hi,
I have a Corporate licenced version of Captivate 6. I would like to know how to use the Drag and Drop interaction.
    Thanking you.
    With regards
    Leena

Which version of Captivate 6 do you have? Drag and drop activity is included in Captivate 6.1 onwards. For earlier versions, your best bet would be to buy Infosemantics widget here:

  • Drag and drop in captivate 7

In captivate 7, there is a drag & drop interaction, is it in-built or i want to purchase the  drag and drop widget.

    Hello,
It is built in since 6.1, and works for SWF and HTML5 output, has not totally the same functionality of the interactive drag and drop widget (but that one only works for SWF-output).

  • Adding drag and drop to Captivate 3 simulations

    Hi,
I'm trying to design short simulation which involves moving
comments icons in a pdf file. Does anyone have any idea how this
drag-and-drop functionality could be built into a captivate
    simulation?
    Thanks

Captivate community contributor Paul Dewhurst offers a
drag-and-drop starter file on his website that you can use to build
    drag-and-drop interactions.
As Paul mentions on his site, you need to use a 3rd-party
tool to create the actual interaction, though.
You can find the file on Paul's website here:

  • Captivate 2 right-click and drag and drop in simulation

Captivate has been suggested as a suitable replacement for
Authorware since the announcement that Adobe doesn't plan to
continue with Authorware. I find myself in the position to put this
to the test. I'm in the process of recreating a course that had
been created in Authorware in a toolset comprised of Artuculate
Presenter, Articulate Quizmaker, Articulate Engage, Captivate, and
    PowerPoint.
The simulation created in Authorware has these feautures:
-learner right clicks on items on screen to see a context
menu then selects option from the context menu
-learner drags toolbar and other items on screen to another
    screen location
-learner selects item from Windows Start>>Program and
other application menus. As the learner's mouse moves over the
menu, menu options highlight and flyout menus appear even if
they're not directly involved in the simulation
-learner logs into course with an employee ID number. This
information is stored and is used in the simulation in which they
log into the system being simulated.
Can I do any of these things in Captivate?
I suspect I can simulate the flyout menus with a number of
mouse over hotspots - exactly the way it's done in Authorware.
However, I haven't found any way to do simulate the other items:
-use of drag and drop where the learner performs the action
-use of a variable value to check validity of what has been
    entered in the text field
-use of right click to advance Captivate simulation.
I'd appreciate any help you can give me. After all, I've
heard many people claim that Captivate can replace Authorware.
    Thanks
    Grace Daminato

    Hi Grace,
Captivate is indeed a replacement for Authorware, but only in
the way that an Audi is a replacement for a Ferrari. They do the
same basic job, but you need to do some after market modifications
to the Audi to level the playing field somewhat.
    1) Flyout menus are indeed possible, if you're willing to
create "rollovers" that display a picture of the expanded menu when
the user mouses over. You are limited to exposing only first-level
menus, however. Captivate does not allow for rollovers on
rollovers, except possibly via Captivate 3's Slidelet
    functionality.
***EDIT***: You can also use Paul Dewhurst's rollover widgets
to fake multi-level menu behavior. They are available from Paul's
    site here:
    http://www.raisingaimee.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=24&Itemid=29
    2) Drag-and-drop in Captivate is currently only available as
an add-in Flash object, each of which must unfortunately be built
by hand in Flash. Adobe Community Expert Paul Dewhurst offers
source files for such interactions on his website:
    http://www.raisingaimee.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=13&Itemid=29
    3) Captivate has built-in checking of field values, but you
are limited to hardcoded values only. If you need variable-based
input checking, you must create it yourself in Flash and insert it
    as an animation.
    4) Right-click is possible in Captivate, but must be added
manually. Captivate community contributor William Heinz has created
a nifty right-click solution for HTML/SWF publication and Paul
Dewhurst again comes to the rescue with a solution for .EXE-based
    output:
    HTML/SWF-based Output:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/captivate/articles/rightclick.html
    EXE-based Output:
    http://www.raisingaimee.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=12&Itemid=29
Unfortunately, making these modifications to Captivate files
comes at a cost. First, there's the overhead of tracking down and
implementing the custom enhancements. More importantly, Captivate
has no way of "scoring" custom enhancements, so any such
interactions will not be reflected in the user's reported results.
If you're willing to live with these limitations, and a few
others, Captivate can indeed be a suitable replacement for
    Authorware.

  • Drag and Drop Option

I wanted to know if there is an option for Drag and Drop in Captivate 6.

30 objects is quite a lot, but either of the drag and drop widgets would be able to handle this number of drag objects.
If the user is expected to place the 5 drag objects in a specific order, you need to set up 5 targets and assign one drag object to each target.
If there is NO specific order, but you just want the user to select 5 objects from the 30 and place them in any order, you can set up a single target object that is large enough to hold all 5 drag objects and then use the Smart Snapping option to have the drag objects automatically position themselves in a list on top of the target.  The user can arrange the items in the list in any order they want just by dragging the objects around.

  • Recommend me a good drag and drop tutorial

I need to make a movie whereby the user drags four items onto 4 targets and achieves a result as each object lands on the target, such as a sound. and then a well done statement at the end.
Can anyone recommend me a place where I can download such a file so I can manipulate it? I figured an hour ago when i sat at my computer that I would find one easily, but I'm really stuck now. can anyone suggest a tutorial/ site where I could get a free download of an advanced drag and drop like this?
    I'd really appreciate your help!
    Thanks.

  • Recording Drag and Drop

"Trying" to record a software simulation that involves
dragging and dropping. Captivate is only capturing my click on the
object and then my next click when I let go at the end - it isn't
showing the "dragging" part of the simulation. Any suggestions on
    what I'm doing wrong.... (Using V 2.0.)

    Hi there
Assuming I'm understanding the situation correctly it would seem that this is a Full Motion Recording (FMR). By that I don't mean you recorded the whole presentation using FMR. Normally Captivate shifts gears and records any clicks and drags as FMR. So you might see nine slides of screen after screen then see a 3 second FMR as a window is dragged from one location to another.
I suppose you might test the FMR situation by simply trying to record a brief project using total FMR from start to finish. See if that works or not.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Reg Drag and Drop Feedback in Captivate 7

    Hi,
I have a drag and drop in a slide (Captivate 7) as a knowledge check.
Problem: I need a drag and drop interaction's correct feedback to reset when the learner returns to the drag and drop slide later or clicks the back button from the next slide. Currently the correct feedback is present.
Background: The learner completes the drag and drop and gets the 'Correct!' feedback from show action and 'Incorrect' feedback from the existing captivate failure feedback. The learner then continues the lesson by going to the next slide. The problem is that, if the learner returns to the drag and drop, the 'Correct!' feedback still shows even though the drag source items have reset to their original locations and the learner can redo the drag and drop interaction. Clicking the 'Reset' button does not remove the existing 'Correct!' feedback. Even if the learner redoes the interaction and does the opposite (e.g. if the learner got it wrong the first time, but then gets it correct this second time), the existing feedback does not change from 'Correct.'
Any ideas on how to fix this? I understand we have to create advanced actions. Please tell me the exact steps in this instance and whether i have to execute the actions on enter or exit.
Note: I tired to read the posts related to this. But creating the advanced options step was not given.
    Thank you.

OK.  Just asking because I saw one of the Adobe people chime in on a similar question a day or two back.
Unlike quiz questions, the Success and Failure Captions for drag and drop interactions appear to have Item Names which suggests they can be hidden via Advanced Actions.  You should try setting an On Slide Enter action to hide them and see if that resolves your issue.

  • Captivate Drag and Drop Functionality

Please could someone confirm when Captivate will ship with drag and drop functionality as standard rather than as an extension only available to subscription or ASA users?
    Thanks.

Adobe doesn't usually give any advance confirmation dates for when they will ship a new product version or patch.

  • Captivate 7 Drag and Drop is crashing Safari in iOS7, is this a know issue? Is there a fix?

This is on an iPad 3, iOS7 version 7.1.1
The Drag and Drop functions properly in Chrome, IE9, and iOS6 so I'm assuming everything is set up correctly. The scene loads, then after a second or two closes Safari.

Though I would still like an answer to this question, I do have a workaround...
Instead of setting the target objects actions to Play Audio, set the actions to execute an advanced action consisting of two statements: Play Audio and Assign CpCmdPause to 1.

  • Drag and drop advancing when it shouldn't - Any ideas?

I have created a drag and drop interaction with 4 drop targets and 8 drop sources. All targets will accept all sources but only hold 2. If the drop is "correct" it will execute an advanced action which shows a tick if it is "incorrect" it will play an incorrect sound.
This is all working fine when you drag the correct items but if you drag 5 incorrect it advances to the next slide unexpectedly. I have everything set to pause and buttons on the screen which should stop the timeline.
Any ideas how I can stop this from auto-advancing?
    Thanks in advance!

The reason is in the fact that you are using simple instead of standard advanced actions:

  • Captivate 8 drag and drop show result. Javascript possible?

Hello, I am new to Captivate. I have created a D&D slide which gives a user 3 attempts at the slide. If the result is a fail, on the last fail the correct answer appears next to the answer the user submitted. This is displayed in red writing.
I don't know if this is possible, but I would like the incorrect answer to be displayed in red and the correct answer to have a green tick next to it. Would this be possible to code in JavaScript? If so could anyone point me in the right direction as to how I might achieve this?
    Thanks in advance.

Could be done with advanced/shared actions
