Advance Security manager 'Group App/Db access' issue

It appears that ASM has some issues loading calc script lists - it appears to ignore the Parameter 'Access All Calculation=false' (followed by calc script list) and sets up the group with access to all calculations. Has anyone found a workaround for this? Or is there a latest/greatest version of ASM that this functionality works in?

I downloaded the Advanced Security Manager from the website and installed on my PC. All functions seem to work fine with the exception of the import and export functions. I have tried this "free" app on one of my test Essbase server. I was scared to use this app on my production server because unexpected things? may be caused by the program to corrupt my essbase.sec. I could not restart my Essbse server and i have to restored my essbase.sec from the tape backup.So anyone who used this app should be very cautious.

I had the same issue on windows 7 x64.
I installed the essbase client and set the environment path variables as below:
ARBORPATH = C:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\common\EssbaseRTC\11.1.2.0
EPM_ORACLE_HOME = C:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\
ESSBASEPATH = %ARBORPATH%
I had to re-install the Advance security manager and then it was working.
Please let me know if this solved your issue.

I am getting an error "essapin.dll" cannot be found.
has anyone faced similar issue, if yes, how did you get around with that.

I got the problem solved.
essapin.dll was with version 6.5 and from essapin.dll was replaced by essapinu.dll. Advanced Security Manager was searching for essapin.dll.
I installed client version of 6.5, which got me essapin.dll.
I am able to export all my filters with ASM now :-)

I am using the advanced security manager to migrate security from Essbase 7 server to Essbase 11 server. The users who are externally authenticated on essbase 7 server are under native security mode on the Essbase 11 server after security import.Does the Advanced security manager put all the users (whether they are externally authenticated or under native security mode) in native security mode after import?
Please help

In version 11 "native" means that the users are stored in OpenLDAP (once Essbase was externalized).
You would only be able to create "external" users if the Shared Services have been connected to an external User Source (e.g. MSAD) prior to
importing the users.

Advanced Security manager- Error Initializing the Essbase API.

I have installed OLAPUnderground> Advanced Security manager for exporting all the User security. when i try to click connect it throws a connection error "error Initializing the Essbase API, cannot connect." Has any one seen this error before? please let me know if i am missing anything.

Sounds like you have not created the windows environment variable:
ESSBASEPATH
D:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\common\EssbaseRTC\11.1.2.0
That is just an example path update to match your environment

Essbase Advanced Security Manager

Importing/Exporting: I have played with exporting and importing all of the security information using the Essbase Advanced Security Manager tool. (olapunderground.com) Everything exported and imported except for the user passwords. Did I miss something or is that one of the limitations of the tool?

I found a way to work around the problem. I copied the user section out of the export file and added the passwords by manipulating it in Excel. We have an external file with userids and passwords that we maintain. I used the vlookup to find the password. You can paste the user info back in your spreadsheet once you have obtained the passwords. It works well.

Will Removal of sharepoint members group leads to access issues?

we have a sharepoint 2013 site collection with 10 sub sites. On the top level I have members group with contribute permissions.
Due to some rules of organization, we created 3 different sharepoint groups giving contribute permissions at top level and added all the people from members group to these 3 groups based on some characteristics. After that we removed members group.
Since then when any one tries to log into the site, They are getting access required error.
If I add the members group back to the site, They are able to access.
My question is when the same person is already in one of the 3 groups with same contribute permissions at the top site level, How the removal of members group is leading to access issues?
Please guide me.

As Vishal said, you need to check the issue occurs with which content in the site collection when the users try to access.
The issue may be due to that the content the users try to access has stopped inheritance from its parent and the newly created groups have no permission on the content.
In most scenarios, the Site Members group will have permission on most items even when the items have unique permissions(Stop inheritance from its parent).
When the Site Members group has been removed and the new groups have no permission on those items, then the users in the new groups will get Access Denied error.
I recommend to use Site collection administrator account to check the permission on the item where users get access denied error.
And grant permission to the new groups on those items.

Can configurator/profile manager group apps

Appologies if this post is in the wrong section.
I have been asked to set up profile manager in such a way that the on-site admin can not only wirelessly deploy apps to devices, but also group and re-group those apps together on the devices screen over-the-air. End result should be that end users do not have to wade through a sea of apps just to find one application (users include a large number of very young children, so it has to be easy to direct them to specific apps).
Now I'm aware that this could be achieved by making a back-up of a pre-configured device, however, this doesn't work well in terms of maintaining the iPads configuration since any new apps added would fall outside of the grouping and the devices would need to be returned to the server room to get their configurations updated with a new backup image and would defeat the purpose of using Profile Manager. I have attempted to convince the on-site admin that they should assign the devices to gropus in profile manager so that Group A only get the apps they use, Group B only get the apps they use, and so on the really isn't keen on the idea because there would still be way too many apps (we're talking 50 or so per device) to wade through just to find the one the class will use.
Is this possible or will it at some point in the future be possible? The advances made by this new version of profile manager and the VPP store is fantastic, but it'd be nice if this feature could be added at some point in future.

If I remember it correctly the user (Apple ID) get a 30 days grace period during which they can migrate data from the app and continue use it. When that period ends they get the opportunity to buy the app for themselves and continue using it for their own money.

Advanced Security Manager on HPUX

Hi,I tried using ASM 1.5 downloaded from olapunderground and installed it on Win98 machine.I need to move my Security from 1 server to another. Both the essbase servers are on HP UX boxes.Both are different versions of Essbase Source is Essbase 6.2 and Target is 6.5.4.2I exported security allright and on Importing the Security, The process is countinuing forever. I had to kill the session after 24 hrs plus.Has anybody faced this issue with using ASM1.5 on WIN98 connected to Essbase on HPUX.?? Any suggestions?Regards,Asif

Setting Security through the Security Manager

I have a question about Security..
If I open Security Manager --> Groups --> Group_name --> Permissions --> Filters i choose a presentation server and the presentation table (and its fields) so that the user can see only the data that i want..
The problem is that choosing this presentation table when creating a generic answer i effectively do not allow the user to see that data.. but when the user chooses some other presentation tables and not the one that i "told" him to, he can see all the data anyway..
Is there a way to apply this filter to the whole repository, even if the user does not directly choose that particular presentation table for an answer?

Running Security Manager in System 9

<p>Is it possible to run Essbase Advanced Security Manager inHyperion System 9? The version I've found is 1.6 (accordingto the readme file) and when I double-click on it it asks foressapin.dll. According to Hyperion, that is a Pre-System 7dll. Is there a newer version or a copy of the right dllavailable somewhere? Or is the runtime client something otherthan just the dll? Any help would be appreciated.</p>

I'd like to add that i've found the Translation Manager 9.3.1 Installation and User guide on http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10530_01/doc/nav/portal_1.htm but I still can't fine the installation download.

Hi,
Clear browser cache and ensure the browser has compatibility mode on and the PWA site is trusted. Also you can verify issue with In private browsing mode.
If Issue still persist re-sync your user profile by open and save thru Manage user and verify issue in different machine too.
