Advance to slide with video already playing

A client wants to be able to advance to a slide with the video already playing, this is for a live presentation, normally done by rolling in video from tape and using switcher to cross fade from text to moving video.
Any solutions would be appreciated
Thanks

Welcome to the discussions, Magneticone.
If all you want is the equivalent of a crossfade, it can be accomplished quite easily.
In Keynote, video can play behind other objects, and can be set to play immediately upon slide transition. These two features allow you to emulate a cross-fade.
Set up the first slide in its final state, and take a screenshot of it at its full-size (100%). Set the transition to the next slide as "None" (the default).
On the second slide, insert your video file, and set it to play immediately after the slide transition (this is the default). Now, place the screenshot on top of the video image, align it so that it exactly matches the first slide, and give it a Dissolve build out, to run immediately (or with whatever delay you want) after the slide transition.
What will happen is that the first slide with transition to the second "invisibly", since the same image is on both. Once the second slide appears, the video behind the screenshot will start playing, and the screenshot will then fade to reveal the already-playing video. The effect will be of a slide crossfading with video.
(As is often the case with Keynote, it is helpful not to first approach presentation problems in terms of actual "slides", but instead in terms of what the effect should be. Many time you can fool the audience into seeing more or fewer "slides" than are actually used in the presentation, and this can make achieving certain effects possible, or easier.)

  • Exporting a slide with video content

    I started a slide show in keynote. A few of my slides have video content. I am trying to export my slides so that I can edit them in iMovie. It's harder than I thought. When I export it, the video content does not play because it exports a picture of the slides. How do I export my slides with video content so that it still plays when I bring it to iMovie. I already tried making that slide a Quicktime movie with no luck. Maybe I missed something in that process. Thanks for any help you can provide.

    You need to export from Keynote as Quicktime using either Fixed timing (in which case you specify enough time per slide for all the builds to complete) or using Recorded timing.
    You can read more about the different Quicktime Export options in the Keynote help menu: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Keynote/5.0/en/kyntc6c24df4.html
    Hope that helps.

  • Posting lots of slides with video slow playback to a halt

    In our slide of about 50 slides, when we have one video slide, it plays ok, but each slide we add after, makes the captivate play slower and slower. In this case, we have about a dozen slides with video, and with all video slides in, the playback is not useable. Video is set to progressive video download and are only a few meg in size
    How can we handles several slides with video?
    Thanks

    This sounds like a bandwidth issue.
    Do you encounter the same slow playback issue if you publish the course to your local PC and play the course from your hard drive?  If not, the issue isn't likely CPU-related.
    If local playback is also slow, your CPU/RAM resources might be unable to keep up with decoding your video at it's current compression or size.  You might need to use smaller, lighter video.
    If you want to see whether or not your issue is related to bandwidth limitations, download the Charles web debugging proxy software (http://www.charlesproxy.com/download/) and use this to watch the actual downloads in progress for the videos in your course.  If you see that Captivate is downloading more than one video at a time, this might explain why things start to bog down.  You might need to restructure your course so that each video is downloaded separately as the user comes to it.  At worst, tThis could require breaking your course into more modules.

  • Keynote presentations when using wireless libratone zipp speaker there is a 2sec delay before any slide containing video/audio plays - tried connection through apple TV still the same. Any ideas?

    Keynote presentations when using wireless libratone zipp speaker there is a 2sec delay before any slide containing video/audio plays - tried connection through apple TV still the same. Any ideas?

    Thanks Gary, I think I should have mentioned that I have wired my other speakers and it works fine.
    I just wanted to go wireless when presenting in front of class, simply to avoid trailing wires from the macbook which I position in front of me on a desk next to the projector and the speakers are behind me next to the screen.
    I have struggled to find a solution, and reading through other discussions it is a problem that perhaps only Apple can solve.
    I hope the new 'Yosemite' will resolve the problem.
    Thank you once again for your reply.

  • How to go to the next slide on click during a slide with video playing? (for export QT)

    Hi,
    I have a keynote presentation that i want to export in QT at the end.
    I have a slide 1 with just a video in full screen.
    I wish i could go to the slide 2 at any time of slide 1 video.
    It work in keynote when i launch the slideshow but not in QT export !!!
    In qt export, the video of slide 1 play from the start to the end and i can't click to go to next slide !!!
    Is it possible ?
    Thank.
    Toto.

    i can't click to go to next slide
    Using Keynote version 6.3, there is no setting in QT export to manually advance.
    The only choice is self - playing.

  • Keynote slides with video - not linking in Ibooks Author

    Hi
    I have a problem with linking Keynote slides containing videos in Ibooks author. I am using the latest version of both programs on Yosemity (6.5.2 keynote, Ibooks Author 2.2 )
    The keynotes is set up with ‘Links Only’ and it works perfectly in Keynote. In Ibooks author the ‘link only’ is not working and the slides just progresses to next one. Like the Presentation type was set to normal, whether or not I press the link or outside the link. The exact same keynote slides without the video doesn’t have this problem and links perfectly in Ibooks Author. The result is the same testing the Ibook directly on the Mac or on the Ipad Air (8.1.2)
    To make sure about the video types I tried a number of different ones (different Mac/Ipad video conversion programs) all with the same result. The result is also the same whether it plays ‘on page’ or ‘full-screen’ in the Ibook. The videos all plays perfectly but the links are not working.
    Saving the keynote to 09 seemed to solve the problem. I am new to Ibooks author …. And the whole Mac environment. But I am thinking it’s supposed to work without having to do this????
    The same happened when I tested a linked keynote example from Lynda.com. ‘Ibooks essential training’.  Only in the 09 version it was working with the links, when the slides had videos. This example was off course also created in an earlier Keynote version.

    This is a problem that I've reported both here and via bugreport.apple.com. However, I don't think that it has to do with screen resolution (retina/non-retina). Rather, I think it has to do with setting the widget to "full screen" where transport controls cannot be used and selecting a "Links Only" presentation.
    I used simple forward and back arrows set (Control-click on object) to go to next slide or previous slide. What I found was that while this works as designed when played back in Keynote (OS X or iOS) but not in the Keynote widget. The links only  setting and these hyperlinks are totally ignored in the Keynote widget. Tapping anywhere went to the next slide. Tapping on the back arrow also went to the next slide,

  • Presenter Slides with Video Buffer forever

    We have several Adobe Presenter presentations hosted on Rustici Cloud, and the problem we have is that each slide buffers for a second or two before playing.  But the real issue is that slides with mp4 video in the slide, appear to buffer forever.
    These courses were originally authored in Presenter 7, and then recently opened and edited in Presenter 8 to make small changes.  It appears that once the course was published in Presenter 8, the buffering issues began.
    Anyone ever experienced similar and any ideas for how to fix it?

    Presenter 8 changed the default setting for controling pre-loading of flash content. In 7 and older, there was no limit on preloading content, unless you set it. In Presenter 8, the default is to disable the pre-loading for Flash content (SWF, FLV, MP4). This is what is likely causing each slide to buffer and the videos to have a long buffer. You can change this setting in Adobe Presenter > Settings > Quality and it will be the option in the image below. Un check it and then republish.

  • Slide with no audio playing audio

    I'm using Captive 4. My intro slide has no audio, yet when I publish and view the SWF, it plays two key clicks. I set that slide to stop the background audio (even though there is none) and I still hear the clicks. Any help with getting this to stop would be appreciated!

    WHen you import video to iPhoto all it does is catalogue and store it. When you go to play it that iPhoto passes the video on to QuickTime Player. SO, my guess is that you're missing a codec for that QuickTime player. Post on the QuickTime forum for more.

  • How to jump between slides which are already played?

    I have a html list of 100 links as below:
    link1
    link2
    link3...so on. And i have a captivate project with 100 slides.When i play captivate project and i have watched only 10 slides then all my 10links in html should be enabled the rest 90 links should be disabled. Do anyone has suggestion for it?
    (I have tried using javascript but it  jumps to slide but does not keeps track of range in which it should jump)
    GetSlideParam();
    function GetSlideParam(){
        if(window.location.href.indexOf('?slide=') != -1) {
            var startIndex = window.location.href.indexOf('?slide=' ) + 7;
            var URL = window.location.href.toString();
            var slideNumber = URL.substring(startIndex);
            if(slideNumber != '' || slideNumber != null){
                setTimeout(function(){NavigateToSlide(slideNumber);}, 200);
    function NavigateToSlide(requestedSlide){
        var cpObj = document.Captivate;
        cpObj.cpEISetValue('cpCmndGotoSlide',requestedSlide - 1);
        cpObj.cpEISetValue('rdcmndResume',1);

    You're really going the hard way around this problem.  If you use the Captivate TOC then you have the option under TOC settings in the Skin Editor to Navigate to Visited Slides Only.  That will mean that your user can only click items on the TOC for slides that have been completed thus far.

  • Question Slide with video

    Hi,  I'm trying to create a question slide that has 2 videos and then a queston to display after the user has watched both videos, however, the question displays at the beginning when the slide is viewed and stays showing.  There does not seem to be a Timing option to Appear After so many seconds.
    Is there a way to do this

    You are correct that you cannot time the captions and other elements on a quiz slide as you can with other slides.  If you must use a quiz slide, your better strategy is to place the videos on a slide before the quiz question and only progress to it after watching the videos.

  • No audio with video while playing in iTunes.

    As topic says.

    had the same problem...recently upgraded itunes, now video did not play audio.
    Found this info on the web, and it solved my problem:

    "Problem: You have the latest version of iTunes and QuickTime and you still don’t get audio from iTunes.
    Solution: Open the QuickTime Player and go to the Edit menu to choose Preferences, then QuickTime Preferences. Click the resulting dialog box’s Audio tab, then select the Safe Mode (waveOut Only) checkbox. Click Apply, reboot your system and try playing media in iTunes again."

  • How to Produce AC3 audio with video to play surround sound  5.1 on an AppleTV

    I have produced a short video with a SONY video camera that records AVCHD in AC3 surround 5.1.
    When I edit it in FCP I can see the six channels both beside the time code and to the right of the time line.
    When I go to share the video to my iTunes library, it indicates that the output will be stereo or two channel.
    I have also tried this in COMPRESSOR and selected the various Apple settings. These too only produce stereo out put.
    Can anyone suggest what might be preventing the AC3 output?
    Thanks
    Barry

    I think that you are out of luck as the table shows on page 62 of your manual at http://www.docs.sony.com/release/BDPS350_US.pdf
    Note 1 on this table says "When Audio Output Priority is set to stereo analog, LPCM 2ch signals are output from each jack.  I would check this setting.  I would also check out notes 2 and 4.  According to their own table, the player should output bitstream in 5.1 D or DTS.
    Out on http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1046952&page=3 it appears that another person is having the same issue and someone recommended this:
    Double check the following settings:
    Audio Output Priority: HDMI
    Audio HDMI: Auto
    BD Audio Setting: Direct
    Audio ATT: Off
    Dolby Digital: Dolby Digital
    DTS: DTS
    Audio DRC: Standard
    Hope this helps....

  • .flv VIDEOS not playing smoothly

    A heavy video-generated Captivate project has been created in Cap 4:
    * 18 slides all up, with the total size of .flv videos coming to 90.7MB
    * Using Captivate, as looking for interactivity -- there is also a menu, so users can jump to whichever section they'd like to watch/use
    When accessing the completed project online:
    1) The loader quickly goes up to 100%
    2) Shows the preloader image I have inserted
    3) User clicks play, and the first slide with video plays...
    The first video either freezes / move quickly along the timeline. You are also unable to jump to other sections shown in the menu. While I am not too worried about this, my priority is for comfortable viewing for the first video. I am assuming that the first video freezes, etc because the whole project has yet to load completely. How can one work towards this solution? I have tested the loading time, changing it from 10%, 20%, towards 100% but the video is still freezing at times / moving quickly along the timeline.

    Thanks for your PM - I just checked your project and it runs 100% fine and smooth for me.
    I checked it on two different PC's
    1. Vista 64-bit, IE 7.0, Flash player 10, 10mbit/10mbit internet connection.
    2. Win XP Pro, IE 7.0, Flash player 10, corporate LAN
    This leads me to the conclusion that the issue is the speed of your internet connection. The first video is around 80 seconds and is 13.5 Mb. That is very big when you consider the length and especially the dimension of the video you are using.
    If you dont already have FP10 then try and upgrade to see if that helps. It's much better at handling videos etc. than the older versions of Flash players.
    Secondly you need to recode your videos. You will be able to get the first video down from 13.5 to perhaps 4-6 mb, with a noticable quality loss. If you have Flash you can use the Adobe Media Encoder to do the recoding.

  • Looping Slideshow with Videos. How please?

    Hi
    I just downloaded Keynote 09 as 08 did not support 1920x1080 Res. I'm pretty au-fait with Keynote but I'm a bit stuck with something.
    I'm trying to create a looping slideshow with images and text and also videos. I want the slide show to just run on it's own without any clicking of buttons at all
    The problem I have is that when I click play,the Presentation starts off fine, and shows the first few pages with static images and text, but when it gets to the pages with Video on, it plays the video for five seconds then moves on to the next slide, I don't want the slides with Videos on to move to the next one until the video has finished, how can I do this? I've looked at "recording a slideshow" but have been unable to fathom how that helps.
    An answer would be much appreciated.
    Thank You.

    A few different ways about this. You could split the slide show into smaller sections that are withi the limits for posting and then post each section.
    You could try a different encoding to make the file smaller. What settings did you use when you created and exported the slide show?

  • How do I get my project with video onto my website?

    I just want to be able to upload my project, which is a mixture of slides with video. There seems to be multiple ways to upload, but I don't know which method to use over another and while I've tried doing so the videos don't work.
    So I tried again and tried to link my videos that I currently host on Amazon S3 into my project, but it won't let me do that.  Is there a way to do that? If I can't use Amazon S3, where should I host my videos?  What am I doing wrong??
    I'm using Captivate 7 (32 bit)
    I've slides with audio added and videos embedded as a video object.
    Much of Captivate is very easy and intuitive to create projects, but I want to get this up online.
    Maybe I'm completely missing the point and it's really easy, but I'm now so confused I don't know what to do.
    A simple guide to uploading a project would be very helpful.
    Thanks

    Have you tried bouncing yet? Underneath your Main Stereo Outs there is a little button for Bouncing. Hit that and a menue will open. Choose the format you want to bounce (44.1/16 Bit perhaps) and set the beginning and end point of your Song. If you setup a cycle for the whole length of the Song it will automatically take the Locators as the the Bounce In and Out Points. There is also the option "add to iTunes Library" in that menue, so choose that and later burn a CD from your iTunes library.
