Advanced Aux usage in Logic

I've been trying to use my aux as a trigger for my SSD drums to filter out bleed thru from other Toms ect.. but I don't understand how to set it up in Logic. SSD told me what to do and I understand what the concept is but it's the "getting around" in Logic that has me puzzled. Here's what they said to do:
Setting this up is as easy as pie but does require another instance of TRIGGER to be activated on a stereo group or aux track which you must send it the drum track that you wish to replace routed to the LEFT channel of this new group track and send the track you wish to use as the suppressor to the RIGHT side of the Trigger group. Adjust the Suppression control in the upper left portion of the display and hey presto suppressing bleed from other drums without any filtering or crazy EQ!
Are there any video tuturials that would show me how to do this in Logic? Once, I see how it's done, I'm sure that I will understand. Thanks!

Logic Express only supports 8 aux objects. Thus, you can use any 8 mono OR stereo soft synth outputs.
I use BFD All with LE7.2 and I use the following tracks:
BFD Audio Instrument track - overheads (BFD 1/2)
Aux 1 - room (BFD 3/4)
Aux 2 - PZM (BFD 5/6)
Aux 3 - Kick In (BFD 7...note, I mix internally within BFD to send the Kick In and Out mics to the Kick In output)
Aux 4 - Snare Top (BFD 9...again, submix includes top and bottom)
Aux 5 - Hats (BFD 11)
I'll then use up the other 3 auxes with some combination of tom and cymbal direct mics, depending on the track in question (i.e don't waste auxes on tom mics if toms aren't important in the song...the OH and room mics pick up enough toms)
Basically, while the underlying architecture of Logic supports 32 soft synth outs, LE can only use the first 8. IMHO, this is a serious, and entirely artificial limitation of the program, which NEEDS to be changed to allow LE to compete with other mid-range sequencers (PT LE, I'm looking at you).

  • Anyone know how to automate aux tracks on logic 8.02??

    hey Guys,
So heres the question; How does one automate the aux tracks on Logic?? I am trying to automate the EQ on one of my aux tracks (since im using multiple outs on a multi output instrument). They dont even show up on the arrange page for me to automate, plus i cant seem to find anything in the instruction manual on how to do this.
    Does nyone have any ideas?
    thanks
    Sunny

    Hi,
You have to make the aux track show up in the arrange window by going to your mixer, ctrl-click anywhere in the channel strip of the aux track, and choose 'create/select arrange track' from the little pop-up. That's it!
    regards, Erik.

  • USAGE of Logical structure and authorization mode in CATEGORY MODELER

    Hi,
I am trying to figure out the relevance and usage of the logical structure in the category modeler i.e. hierarchial or attributive. As per the description the hierarchial categorization should not allow duplictae categories but we are able  to create more than one category with same codes i.e. duplicate categories. Please let me know the difference in the functionality of the two category - logical structures.
Secondly I also want to know what is the usage of the authorizatio mode i.e. either OR or AND.
    Thanks and Regards,

    Hi Andrez,
Welcome to SDN. This is the standard way LO Cockpit works. The data source will be able to extract the load only from setup tables and then the deltas are based on the init based on the setup tables. I have not tried this. I am sure that you can extract data from R/3 into other datawarehouse systems (other than BW).
Instead of this standard LO way of extraction, what I would do is to write an interface program (RFC FM or BAPI) from R/3 which would read the data directly from the database tables and put them in a queue or put it in a common area as a file. The other DW system would pick up this and post them. If you have a middleware between your R/3 and the third part (dw) system, this becomes even simpler as the data transfer will be handled by the middleware. The deltas can be handled programatically based on the date and the time stamp. Think about this solution. Hope it helps.

  • How do I send a stereo signal to an AUX channel in Logic?

    Hi Peeps,
I'm currently using Logic Studio 8 and I'm getting really annoyed with the fact that when I take a send 'post fader' from a stereo audio channel to a stereo AUX channel, the post fader signal seems to ignore any panning adjustments. Its like the send is only sending a mono image??? For instance, if I pan a synth track hard left I can still hear the wet reverb signal on my AUX track on the right, its annoying! I could always pan the AUX channel left, but obviously I would like to use that AUX channel for effecting numerous tracks, not all of which will be panned hard left!
I dont have this problem in pro-tools as you can choose to send the signal to a mono or stereo bus channel, but I cant find an option for this in Logic for love nor money!
    Help!
    Orbz

    Hi Orbz,
There are 3 Send modes in Logic:
    • Pre Fader (original signal is sent before it reaches the channel strip's fader etc.
    • Post Fader (sent before volume fader adjustments)
    • Post Pan (send before volume fader and Pan/Balance adjustments).
Click and hold on the Send slot in your synth channel strip and select Post Pan fro the drop-down menu.
Funnily enough I've just finished writing a tutorial about this very topic!! It's not published yet, but will appear on the macProVideo.com blog in the coming days...

  • Advanced Search using conditional & logical operators+ sharepoint 2010

    Hi Team,
We have an requirement something like this. we have to search values from Custom SharePoint List using Conditional & Logical Operators in SharePoint 2010. how can i achieve this ? if some one has worked on something like this, can you please share the
details to my email id ([email protected]
    Thanks in Advance.
    Cheers, San

    Hi Santhosh,
If you have only one list, then you can use CAML query to perform search in that list. You can write code to generate dynamic CAML based on selection in the filter.
If have to perform the search function on multiple list then you can use Search object model and create dynamic query and execute it using Search OM.

I think the problem was the patch level. AFter updating the server, it works fine.

  • What happened to Emagic's good old AMT = Advanced Midi Timing in Logic 7, 8

I wonder if anybody knows if Apple dropped the AMT-algorithm enabeling Emagic's AMT 8 and Unitor 8 Mk 1 and 2 to be more accurate in Midi timing than ordinary interfaces without AMT are. The last button/check box that was related to AMT (Advanced Midi Timing) I saw was in Logic 6. Steinberg and Motu had their own timing accuracy systems then.
Since in the whole Logic Studio manual AMT is not mentioned a single time I supposed this very useful tool has been sacrificed by Apple's dingy future spirit.
Not to be misunderstood: I know the interfaces can be installed and are supported and be run by the actual machines and systems as normal Midi interfaces .

Just having a random search around:
    http://developer.apple.com/audio/pdf/coreaudio.pdf
"The MIDIPacketList are a time-stamped list of packets to or from one endpoint.
All MIDI I/O functions use this structure. The MIDIPacket contains one or
    more simultaneous MIDI events."
Also, back when Logic was first going in OSX, emagic had an article about this as well, although that's long since gone.
OSX's time stamping isn't exactly the same as AMT in detail, but is in essence the same thing. AMT works by time stamping events ahead of time, so the interface can fire them off as close to perfectly as the current MIDI stream allows. If you have two events at 1 1 1 1, but on different ports, an AMT interface can fire those events at precisely the same time, which can't happen with a regular (non-timestamped) MIDI stream, as the stream is serial in nature.
Because OSX has time stamping built in to the MIDI server, theoretically all MIDI output operations under OSX should take advantage of this - but at the geeky levels, I haven't been programming with this so I'm not completely up on all the details - it maybe that programs have to be written specifically to take advantage of it.
In any case, it's these reasons why AMT was never supported in Logic under OSX - it was basically redundant.

  • Multiple ReWire Aux Strips in Logic 8?

I am running Reason 4.0 and Logic 8. How do I create unique channel strips in Logic to represent individual Reason instruments? Right now I have a Thor track, a Dr. Rex track and a Malstrom track set up in my Logic sequencer and they all work fine but they all play through the same Aux strip in my mixer window. I want to have unique Logic plug-ins assigned to each instrument's output. How would I set that up?

Logic doesn't read the patches created in Mainstage. However, you can open each channel strip setting onto an individual track in Logic then arm record them all at the same time. They should all then play at the same time.. and record the same MIDI info on each track.
I think the bus FX are the same too.. the settings can be recalled in Logic. You'd need to do it manually though, as opposed to importing the Mainstage patch and having everything configured for you.

  • Aux Channelstrips and Logic Control

    Hi,
It seems almost impossible to have ONLY the tracks in the arrange window reflected in my Logic Control + Extender. If I use BFD 2 with many Aux they will appear on the Logic Control, although they are not shown in the arrange and cluttering up my workflow!
Why is it so difficult just to have the tracks in the arrange laid down to the Logic Control???

Read the manual's section where Environment is covered. Environment is the part of Logic which gives it unlimited power to control (or the ability of being controlled by) MIDI devices. Basically, the control surface could be configured in the Environment, including the way all the knobs and sliders are used if need be. However, you must know what you are doing and what you are configuring all the knobs and sliders for. Besides, a ready-to-use Logic template or set of templates for your keyboard may already exist.

  • Tip for Bose SoundDock 10 Remote to play Aux input from Logic (or other)

Here is tip for live performance.
If you are using a Bose SoundDock 10 for playback in a live setting (where you want to minimize awkward public HiFi system tweaking) here is a tip.
The Bose SoundDock 10 plays plugged-in iPods (I use a Nano; 4th Generation) AND has a simple auxiliary in 1/8" port. But there is neither a volume nob NOR a volume meter for the Auxiliary signal.
So.. in the process of trying to create a predictable consistent output level
I experiment to see wether I should
    a) Count increment clicks from zero,
    b) Count increment-hold-seconds from zero,
    c) Use the iPod's volume level meter.
Wow! the iPod's level WILL set the auxiliary signal!! Yea!!
Problem: while toggling back and forth between
    1) iPod-input to SEE and SET level by sight, and
    2) Auxiliary-input to test the level by hearing,
you will inadvertently expose your set-up audience to load, undesired music.
This is because of a limitation of the Bose SoundDock remote control’s toggling behavior. You see, even if you PAUSE the undesired music before toggling from the iPod-input to the Auxiliary-Input, UPON TOGGLING BACK, to the iPod-input the Bose SoundDock remote AUTOMATICALLY DE-pauses. This, then subjects you and your unsuspecting audience to an annoying and distracting snippet of the least objectionable song you can remember to que up!
For that reason I suggest creating in Logic a "Sound of Silence" Song and exporting to iTunes. Thus, no iTunes library (or professional musician's iPod) is complete with out a 3 minutes of silence file for balance, check, and normalizing etc. Don't forget to attach a remember artwork.
You could also you this track on memorial day or at funerals.
    Good luck.
See upcoming video of the whole thing at TheEnchantedPiano.net

I greatly enjoyed Philip Norman's Lennon biography. He said Ono changed her mind about endorsing the book because (according to her) Norman "had been 'mean to John.' " Norman does say some candid things about Lennon's behavior as a parent.

  • ISE - Advanced License Usage

Can anyone provide some insight as to why I am utilizing advanced licensing features on my new ISE implementation? Please see attached screen shot for counts.
I'm not doing anything special, none of the features listed as 'advanced' in Cisco docs. Was thinking it's possibly a bug because it's the same count as I have for Base Package. Will custom profiling policies utilize advanced licensing?
    Kind Regards,
    Kevin

    Kevin,
Venkatesh is correct, when using dynamic profiling in an authorization policy will consume and advanced endpoint license. Here is some documentation that will help:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/ise/1.0/user_guide/ise10_prof_pol.html
With a base license installed, you cannot profile  endpoints on your network. You can only manage endpoints including  import and the static assignment of endpoints by using the Endpoints  page, and viewing on the Endpoint Identity Groups page. For more  details, see
    Endpoints, page 4-14
    , and
    Endpoint Identity Groups, page 4-62

Chapter 4, "Managing Identities and Admin Access."

  • Any program for advanced clipboard usage?

    Hi everybody!
I need to make a clipboard the same for everything, so it's like syncronized. I need data in clipboard to be saved there when I close an application where data was copied. And I need data to be available everywhere inside one user, for example in OpenOffice, in Terminal, in Mozilla, etc...
Is there any program for this? Or maybe system settings to configure?

No error, and a ps check returns nothing. This means anamnesis -a fails (I assume that's why it fails, as the help says it needs it running).
All/most other anamnesis functions seem to work.
EDIT: actually it seems to be problem with the -a option and the log file says the daemon is running. I'll post an error to the bug tracker.
Just to update here to finalise, a fix is apparently in the pipeline.

If I turn off the notifications for one particular application which gets frequently data from 3G or WiFi, does it mean that application will not receive any data? or it will recevie data but not push the notification?
Very few if any 3rd party applications can run in the background, since there is no benefit or reason for the majority of 3rd party apps to run in the background. Unless the app is a music streaming app or a GPS navigation app which you will know is running in the background, the only data that can be downloaded by a 3rd party app is a push notification if the app developer includes a push notification option for the app. Push notifications use very little data. If you turn push notifications off for an app that includes the option, the app cannot use any data unless you are actively using the app since the app will not run in the background.
Is there any possibilty to turn off any application to access 3G without turning off 3g netwoking for all?
No, and turning 3G network access off by itself does not turn cellular data access off entirely. Turning 3G network access off turns 3G network access off only - it does not turn off EDGE or GPRS network access.
