Advanced conditional action issue

I am using Captivate 7. I am experimenting with Advanced conditional actions.
I am simulating a numerical keypad (0-9) with each number assigned to a click box.
working with 4 digits.
I need to impose limits for each of the 4 digits.
Example:
Digit 1 can only be a 0 or a 1
Digit 2 can only be 0-5
etc.
I trying to prevent going to the next action when a wrong number is clicked.
Looking for examples on how to properly implement this.

Hello and welcome to the forum,
Some years ago I created such a use case, would certainly change several things now with Captivate 7. I would recommend to make ieach key a shape button, so that it looks like a pressed key if the user clicks it. And I would also use shared actions without any doubt. But no time to work this out, sorry.
Certainly not totally your use case, but perhaps have a look:

  • Advanced Conditional Action does work when I add second condition

I am using CP 8. I can't figure out why I'm running into this problem. I have a series of If-Then conditional actions, but I'm running into problems. I've narrowed it down to this one problem.
This is a simple check mark box that should either show the check mark or not.
As long as I only have one condition, it works fine. As soon as I add the second condition, it stops working.
Any suggestions? I appreciate the help!

I have 6 statements. Some are true and some are false. I'm trying to communicate that the more false statements they assume, the bigger their problem. The size of the problem is represented by my "Hope" variable. This is used to show / hide a meter with 6 levels.
Checkbox - 1. False Statement - Decrement Hope if they check
Checkbox - 2. False Statement - Decrement Hope if they check
Checkbox - 3. True Statement - Increment Hope if they check
Checkbox - 4. False Statement - Decrement Hope if they check
Checkbox - 5. True Statement - Increment Hope if they check
Checkbox - 6. False Statement - Decrement Hope if they check
My head started to spin when I thought about all the possibilities, so I was going to write an advanced action for each statement.
Since my meter has 6 levels, I numbered them 5-10. Above, I show the one that is they are 10 or higher, then show all the meter levels. I thought I could add the additional condition that if the checkbox is 0 or 1, then, I'd either do the opposite of the score: decrement or increment. So, each checkbox would have 12 conditional statements:
Statement One (False Statement) would be:
Check Box, Hope = 10. Decrement. Show 4 Meters.
Check Box, Hope = 9. Decrement. Show 3 Meters.
    etc.
Uncheck Box, Hope = 10. Increment. Show 5 Meters.
Uncheck Box, Hope = 9. Increment. Show 4 Meters.
    etc.
It seems like that is causing problems in my sequencing for me. Which ever one I put first, it's going to go to the next one.
Is this clear? I'm happy to send you the file if that helps.
    Thanks for the help!

  • Combining Conditional Actions in Advanced Actions

I have created a Jeopardy game in Captivate.  There are 16 questions.  I have set an Advanced Action so that
when all 16 questions are clicked on the user will go to "final Jeopardy".  What I can't figure out is to add that after 5 questions are clicked on for the user to go a different slide before they go back to the gameboard.  Can you add two conditional statements in one advanced action?

    Hello,
You can combine as much decisions as you want in an Advanced Conditional action. Although the default number is 3, you can add as many as you want. Perhaps this video tutorial could help you:

In my blog you can find quite a lot of examples of condtional actions with multiple decisions as well:

  • Conditional action script not executing

I have four buttons, Q1, Q2,Q3,Q4.  the script for each works fine:  the variable (ex. Q1) is set equal to 1 and the other functions perform as scripted.  When all four buttons are clicked on and equal to 1, another script (Slide_End) is supposed to work--hiding a box on the screen and showing the Next button.  This Slide_End script is not working.  I have the slide properties On Enter assigned to Advanced Actions>Slide_End.  The Slide_End script has been labelled as All Clicked within the script itself.  I just can't understand what I am missing.  I have the exact same settings on another slide and it works fine.

Never had a formal training neither, but have been blogging about advanced actions and solving use cases for many users. And wrote some articles long time ago, here you can find the link with those:
    https://workspaces.acrobat.com/?d=tGgSjfVqRtEgI6fORG-zbw
Normally for a standard action, you choose 'Standard action', not a 'Conditional action'. Have a look at this old presentation, maybe it will clarify something:
    http://blog.lilybiri.com/presentation-devlearn-2011
Double click on the second 'Untitled' and you have a second possibility to check something. The first condition will always be fulfilled  (IF 1 is equal to 1) so that is really a standard action. The second Untitled will be your real condition where you check all the variables and have two different sets of statement/commands depending on the answer Yes or No for that condition.

  • On slide entry conditional action that jumps to another slide?

I assumed this would work, but it's not - should this work and I've got an error somewhere or do I needd another approach?
So I have a menu slide with 6 buttons, each button simply jumps to a specific slide.  On each of those slides is a return button with an action that increments a variable (varCount) and jumps back to the menu slide.  I would like to set it up where once the user has hit all the slides (varCount=6) and hits return, the menu is bypassed and they are jumped to a closing slide instead.  To do this I tried to create a conditional action that compares the variable (if var = X then goto slide Y) and the have that action run on entry on the menu slide.  However this doesn't appear to work.  Should it?  I know as an alternative I could modify and put the conditional on each return button instead, but before I do I want to see if I'm missing something on the current aproach
    Version 6

    Hi there
Where exactly are you setitng the variables?
One thing I would try is to insert a text caption object on the first slide that presents the variables. Configure it to present for the whole project. Then run the project and test. This will tell you whether the variables are getting set. If they aren't properly set, then your evaluation of whether the cumulative total is reached will fail.
Another thing to ask is if there is a scorable object between the slide where you are running the advanced action and the slide where you want to go. If so, your quiz settings may be preventing the slide from being reached. For example, if you have a question slide that hasn't been answered and the quiz settings say all questions must be answered.
    Hope this helps;;; Rick

  • ATG Promotion  item discount  (Advance condition and Offer template)

    Hi Team ,
We are using ATG Item Discount (Advance condition and Offer template ) .  Under this template we have Condition and Offer  .
In condition we have specified ,   Apply Offer when  Order Quantity   =  3   and Order contains say SKU1 , SKU2,SKU3
In Offer we have specified ,  Item to discount up to  = 9   and item to discount are  SKU1 , SKU2,SKU3
We have a tricky requirement here  where customer wants Number of Items to discount should always  be multiple of  quantity that we specified in  Apply Offer when  Order Quantity field   based on how many quantities customer have added in the cart .
Minimum quantity to qualify the offer would always be 3  and maximum item to discount would always remains 9 .
If user add  quantity in the cart as 3   , then it should discount  3 Only .
If user add  quantity in the cart between 3(exclude ) and 6(exclude) , then it should discount  3 quantities .
If user add  quantity in the cart as 6  , then it should discount  6 quantities .
If user add  quantity in the cart between 6(exclude ) and 9(exclude) , then it should discount maximum of 6 quantities .
If user add  quantity in the cart as 9  , then it should discount maximum of 9 quantities
    > 9 items in the cart  , then it should discount only 9  .
I am not able to map condition like this in this template  . Can you please guide me how we can achieve requirement like this in ATG  OOTB or by doing some sort of customization ?

    Hi ClareR
Yes, I did. Here is the PMD rule
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?>

          </discount-structure>
        </offer>
      </pricing-model>
And in my cart I have 4 items
    Item 1 $22
    Item 2 $46
    Item 3 $24
    Item 4 $22
The items that got the discount were Item 2 and Item 3, but we want to give as free item 3 and item 4 or 1 (because they have the same price). As you may see the BOGO is set up buy 2 and get one free. Someone told me in the version 10.1.2 you can set up Buy 1 and get one free, I am not sure if it is an issue on ATG 10.0.2 and if it is, do they have a path?
    Thanks,

  • Conditional actions and variables

    Hi everyone,
I have a slide (below) that has 3 buttons. The aim is that when each button is pressed a text box appears next to each button with additional dialogue. When the user has clicked on all 3 of the buttons, only then will the back and next button pop up, allowing the user to move on. For this example, I am only going to test it with 1 button.
    I
The variable I have created for this slide is set with a value of 0.I have set up a conditional action ' on enter slide' , where if the variable is equal to 1, the two shapes appear. On the button which you press to make the dialogue box appear, I have set up an advanced action which assigns the variable a value of 1, and shows the dialogue box. This is triggered by clicking on the button.
Despite this, the back and next button do not show when I click that first button. Does anybody know why that is?

I have multiple examples of this scenario on my blog, but OK, here we go another time. The On Enter action is only executed when the slide is ENTERED again. Each action has to be triggered by an event.
Events and (advanced) Actions - Captivate blog
What David is asking is not a description of the action but the actual Preview of the action.
To me it is also not very clear, which button is doing what. Please a screenshot of the timeline as well.

  • PO Condition Type Issue

    Hi All,
I have encounter a PO condition type issue, hope to get someone to enlighten me.
I have create both cuztomize condition type ZOT2 AND ZOT3.
With config in Control data 1
Cond. Class - A Discount or Surcharge
Calculat. type - B Fixed Amount
Cond. category - B Delivery cost
    Group Condition
Select for Group cond. & RoundDiffComp
    GrpCond.routine - 1 Overall Document
ZOT2 in header condition should be divided into item via value.
ZOT3 in header condition should be divided into item via quantity.
Both condition type havemanually enter with value 300
In the test PO I have created 3 materials:-
Material     Quantity     Net Price     Item Net
    A     100     1,615.00     161,500.00
    B     100          16.15         1,615.00
    C     1000          16.15       16,150.00
In the Item view calculation for both condition type as stated below:-
    ZOT2 - 270.27 : 2.70 : 27.03 (Ratios base on Value 100:1:10)
ZOT3 - 270.27 : 2.70 : 27.03 (Rations base on Quantity 1:1:10) the amount result should be 25: 25: 250 but the result I get from the system for condition type ZOT3 is the same as ZOT2.
Please advise how to reticfy the configuration. Thank you.

    Hi Eugenia...
I tested  scenario with values you have mentioned. It works perfect both ways. Pls follow this....
    1. Pls avert the changes I had suggested in my prev reply for changing the condition types. (group condition active, round diff condition & group cond routine, keep them as they are)
    2. While you enter value in header with condition type ZOT2. the value gets properly distribute by the ratio 100:1:10 and thats perfect......Now
    3. While you enter the values for condition type ZOT3 in the header...Pls note that your Total Qty is 1200 and the total condition value is 300 this means per unit qty the value is 300/1200 =0.25...
Now while you enter the values for ZOT3 in the header, enter 300 in the Amount column and 1200 in the Per column, meaning that the total of 300 shoud be divided into 1200 units irrespective of quantities per Line Item
Now check the results and you will have the distribution ratio 1:1:100
NB:For ZOT3 (Qty base) to work the UoM for all the line items must be similar
    Pls check and revert

    Hi Rounak,
Yes, you can create a standalone AP Down Payment Invoice and adjust  it against the invoice you create later or you can create a payment on account outgoing payment and then reconcile it with the invoice in the ougoing payment screen.

  • Multiple Conditions\Actions in a Workflow

I am in the process of creating an expense approval form with a workflow that has two Approval stages. In the first stage, however, the approver would be dynamic based on a selection in the form. The second stage approval would go to the same
person\group. What's the best\correct way to do multiple\conditions\actions in a single step? As an example of the workflow:
If Field1 equals Value1 Assign a task to Person1. If Associated Task is Approved create a new Task and Assign it to Person 10
there would be about 12 different iterations of the first step, Value2 Assign to Person 2 and so on.

Hi pjs, it depends on who the person is/how they're related to the selection on the form. If it's the user's manager, you can get that information by using the link below. If there's no real correlation to the selection made, then you'd have to make a list
with two columns- "selection" and "person to email." Then check that list against the selection and get the corresponding email for the particular approver.

  • Conditional actions in Photoshop can't test for Lab color mode.

I’m posting here because the feature request/bug report form isn’t currently working for Photoshop.
I wanted to create an action to determine if the color mode of an image is Lab, and if so, convert it to RGB. But there’s no conditional action test for Lab color mode.  The list of conditions that can be tested includes RGB, grayscale, and a couple of other color modes, but not Lab,  Does anyone know of a workaround?  Can I get it done with scripting?
It would be a big help if the next update of Photoshop CC could include a conditional action test for Lab color mode.

This for example would convert an active Lab image to sRGB:
    if (app.documents.length > 0) {
    if (app.activeDocument.mode == DocumentMode.LAB) {
    app.activeDocument.convertProfile ("sRGB IEC61966-2.1", Intent.RELATIVECOLORIMETRIC, true, true);

  • Photoshop Help | Adding conditional actions | CC, CS6

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/conditional-actions-creative-cloud.html

    David Mac Do
Conditional actions are not a big deal. In reality they are a one line script built into the fly-out menu and the feature only support a limited number of conditions. To phrase the script in english is a simple one liner
If Document (condition pulldown list) selected is true Play true action in set(selected) else  Play false action in set (selected). Actions do not need to be select for both true and false. One selection may do what is needed.
All three supported Photoshop supported scripting languages have support for an "if" statement.
A javascript was posted years ago "Siva's Photoshop Conditional Action.jsx" do a serach.

  • Need a conditional action as consequence of selecting five separate buttons

    Hiya
Say you have five buttons.  I need the learner to select all five, in any sequence, and when all five are selected a feedback box will pop up.
The curlier part is that also, if just a select four are selected alone, another pop up will appear.
Anything you have that can help would be life saving.

Yes, at 1am I was in dreamland. Posted my answer at midnight.
Why do you use y as first character (is not a bug, just wondering)? My labeling system is that I want to see the nature of everything, that is the reason why I start variables with a 'v'.
What are those buttons triggering? The action that they have to execute has to be added to the conditional action with three decisions that I described above. Probably to the first decision, which is a mimicked standard action. The sequence is very important in this conditional action:
In the first decision, the associated variable to that button will be toggled to 1 from its value 0. I didn't use the Toggle command, but Assign, in case the user can click more than once on the the button.
When the variable has its proper value, I calculate the sum of the 5 variables and store that value in v_counter. Captivate has no SUM function, that is the reason of the sequence of 4 Expression statements.
After or before those statements you'll have to insert what you want this button to do: show a caption, an image, a highlight....I don't know, you didn't tell.
Now v_counter has its correct value, only then I check first if that value is 4, which would mean that 4 different buttons have been clicked (eventually several times) in any possible sequence (hence the 5 variables, only a counter would not work in this case). If that value is 4 you pop up the text that you wanted. In this case it is not necessary to hide something (except if you want to hide something you popped up with the button itself?).
If v_counter is not equal to 4, maybe it is equal to 5 which is checked in the third decision. But in that case, the text that appeared with 4 clicked buttons is still there, so I first hide that text, then pop up the last text.
If neither the second nor the third decision results in TRUE, nothing will happen, except the statements in the first decision.

  • Advanced Conditions causing ORA-00904 invalid identifier

I have another weird thing going on...
It may be the complexity of the data I'm pulling, but I'm going to simplify the problem first...
I have several conditions in my workbook that I need to be true regardless then I need the following (this is a payroll thing):
((Total Regular Hours > 40 AND Total Overtime = 0) OR (Total Overtime > 0 AND (Total Regular Hours - Total Overtime Hours) <> 40))
So, I'm using Discoverer Plus 10g and if I create separate conditions for Total Overtime > 0 and (Total Regular Hours - Total Overtime Hours) <> 40) it will work, but if I try to combine them into one condition (so I can then add my OR and the other 2 conditions) it gives me the "ORA-00904 invalid identifier" error and will not run.
The only way I've been able to do it is to create 3 conditions and 2 worksheets. That way, I can add (Total Regular Hours > 40 AND Total Overtime = 0) in one condition and apply it to one sheet; then I the other 2 separate conditions can be applied to the other worksheet.
I hate having to have 2 worksheets when I should be able to create an advanced condition... anyone have any ideas?
    Regards,
    Emily

It is actually a typo in the message because I have a calculated column that calculates the difference... sorry.
I did try the idea of running the SQL that was generated in SQL Developer and it doesn't look right.
It did all my other conditions under the where, but then where I would have thought it should do another and it did a WHERE.... see below. (I only pasted from the from statement on to save room)
    FROM HRBG_PEOPLE_ASSIGNMENT o393615, APPS.PTEN_PAY_BEE_V o393616
    WHERE ( (o393616.ASSIGNMENT_ID = o393615.ASSIGNMENT_ID))
    AND (o393615.BG_SECURITY_FLAG_CODE = 'Y')
    AND (o393616.DATE_EARNED BETWEEN o393615.ASSIGNMENT_START_DATE AND o393615.ASSIGNMENT_END_DATE AND o393616.DATE_EARNED BETWEEN o393615.RECORD_START_DATE AND o393615.RECORD_END_DATE)
AND (o393616.DATE_EARNED IN (:"Date Earned Dates"))
AND (o393616.EFFECTIVE_DATE = :"Period End Date")))))
    WHERE ( ( NP100 ) > 40 AND ( NP101 ) = 0)
    AND ( ( NP104 ) <> 40 AND ( NP105 ) > 0)
    ORDER BY E393849 ASC ;
Do you see the WHERE that I marked in BOLD? That should be an AND...
I even tried creating one crazy long condition to include everything in one and still got the same error and it produced the same SQL. I am thinking it has to do with the fact that I'm actually showing group totals for Regular Hours and Overtime and then subtracting them to get the difference. It all breaks when I add that difference in with the others. If I keep it separate, it does fine.
By the way, the error I get when running just the SQL is "not all variables bound"
    Thanks,
    Emily
