Advanced Dialog button on Parameter Panel?

Hello,
I was reading the pdf version of the online help file dated 5/16/11. The bottom of page 70 and page 471 discusses an Advanced Dialog button on the parameter panel. I opened a report that has dynamic cascading prompts, but did not see this button. I'm hoping someone can tell me where this button is or what options on the create parameter field need to be selected to enable this button.
Thank you
Tracy

Hi Tracy, Remember to state the version of CR you are referencing.

I think it's the same as the 3rd box, Value Options, but I'll have to check with the PM. Most of our Dialog boxes are dynamic so if the option is not available or supported with the type you have selected or using the various options are not shown.

Oops Don, yes, I am testing CR2011. I'm sorry for not remembering to put that in the message.
It caught my attention because it wasn't a feature that I was familiar with.
At least now you can let the technical writers know that there is at least 1 person that actually reads the user guides - LOL
Thank you

  • Missing Advanced Dialog Button in Photo Downloader

    I am running elements on an HP ENVY 14 Windows 7 laptop.  The Advanced Dialog button does not appear as an option when I download from my camera.  I understand it may be designed this way to prevent the option from running on smaller displays.  My display is set up at 1366x768 which is the maximun available on this display.  Is there a configuration option I can change to use the advanced dialog feature?

    Go to the control panel and check dpi scaling under Appearance or Display.
    It’s not uncommon to see a setting of 125% or higher to improve screen readability but PSE9 requires a dpi of 96 or 100%
    Whilst the Editor Menu will appear at 120% the Organizer Menu (and the advanced button in downloader) won’t.
    Try a setting of 115% or 116% otherwise 100%. A common display resolution, notably for laptops and netbooks is 1024 x 768 but PSE9 requires a screen height of 800 for full functionality.

  • Advanced Dialog button not showing during "Get photos from camera or card"

    Based on previous threads, I have double checked my screen resolution (currently set at 1920x1080) and uninstalled/reinstalled PSE 8.  I run on Windows 7.  Has anyone has success getting the Advanced Dialog button to appear?

    A little experimentation shows that your Windows display text-size setting (DPI, dots-per-inch) is set too large, probably 150%. When I set my display to 1920 x 1080, I can set the text size to as large as 140%, but any larger and the Advanced Dialog button won't show.   To change the text size, right-click the Windows desktop, select Personalize, Display, Set Custom Text Size (DPI), and then enter a different value.
    PSE 8 has an undocumented "feature" that disables the Advanced Dialog when it won't fit on the screen.  This commonly occurs on netbooks with display heights less than 768, but it appears to happen also when the combination of display resolution and DPI make the dialog too big to fit.   Lazy programming on the part of Adobe.

  • Missing Advanced Dialog button

    Somehow the "Advanced Dialog" button is missing from the Photo Downloader box of my Elements 8. Does anyone have the same problem and know how to fix it?  Thanks.

    John,
    As mentioned yestda, i deleted and re-installed the Element 8 on my computer. It went very smoothly, no problem whatsoever. Then i tried everything you mentioned in your emails. Nothing helped. The 'Advanced" option did not show up at all in the Preferences box, nor on the Downleader box. I can't think of anything else to try other than call the Tech support of Adobe, unless you or someone else can suggest something else to try. I am willing to try anything. Thanks a lot for everyone's help.

    Subject: missing Advanced Dialog button
    Does "'Show APD Dialog (Advanced)" appear as an option in that drop-down list, as shown here:
    http://forums.adobe.com/servlet/JiveServlet/showImage/19683/capture.png
    If it doesn't, then that's an additional indication that your PSE is getting confused about the display height.  (When the height is less than 768, PSE won't show the Advanced option in the drop-down box.)  Whether that's a bug in PSE or a problem on your computer, who knows.
    Did you try steps 2-4 from my previous message?

  • Help- Elements 9 "Does not show Advanced dialog" for downloading

    Hi, I'm fairly new to elements and have gone through my "Dummies Book" and yesterday received my Elements 9 book by Scott Kelby and Matt Kloskowski.  My problem is when I'm attempting to download 5 new pictures from a card that still has 700 on it - The download organizer does NOT show the "Advanced Dialog button" on the bottom-left corner of the dialog box which as Kelby and Kloskowski indicate, would allow me to select only the 5 new pictures that I am attempting to download.
    Can anyone assist?  Do you have any recommendations?  It is clearly described (even with pictures) in the Scott Kelby book; however, my screen does not list the advanced dialog button.
    Thank you-Thank you-Thank you!

    Bob, It just seems that using windows to import into a file and then
    importing from Files and Folders is a workaround to not being able to bring
    up the Advanced Dialog Button.  I do appreciate and thank you for this
    suggestion!
    Overall, I'm disappointed in the Photoshop Elements 9 program.  It appears
    from reading this forum, that there are many similar difficulties with the
    Advanced Dialog Button and other similar programming elements that have
    perpetuated from Elements 8.
    Again, thank you for your time and interest and support in this forum.
    Without contributors like yourself, many "newbies" would be forever lost.
    One last question, Since I've downloaded by original batch of 700 photos
    three times now, what would be the easiest way of cleaning up my mess??????
    Thank you.   Hoping to be able to use this program by Christmas!!!!!

  • Advanced Dialog in Elements 9 Organizer

    I just downloaded Photoshop Elements 9 and am trying to import photos into the Organizer.  In the Photo Downloader window, the Advanced Dialog button is missing.  This is an option that I desperately need, as I upload photos from many dates and events at once and would like to organize them accordingly.  Any thoughts?  Should I attempt to uninstall and reinstall the program?

    This is a known problem for lower screen resolutions.

  • Crystal Report - Parameter issue (advanced dialog box)

    In our wpf .net application we view the crystal report, the report prompts for entering 2 parameter values i.e 2 dates and inturn these parameters will be used to generate the crystal report.
    The parameter panel on the left has a button (show advanced dialog box). This button should again invoke the same parameter prompt dialog box, so that the user can modify these parameters and the report can be regenerated.
    Issue is that when I click on the the button, this generates a null reference exception in the code. The call stack is -

    I use crystal reports 2008 sp 2 (also note that my gac contains different version of crystal reports (cannot remove them - tried it) , with windows server 2003. I use web service with proxy to get the report from the local server.
    Note I also tried to create sample application in which I specify the local path to reports source , this works. However when I tried to use webservice, i was getting soap exception.
    Please let me know how solve above issue

    So you found the Report Design forum, if you looked down one more you would have found the SDK forum, SDK stands for Software Development Kit if you did not know.
    Or did you not mention you get the same error when you run this report in CR Designer, if so then you were in the right forum.
    Try Service Pack 3 also
    Move to the SDK forums.

  • CrystalReportViewer in CR2008 - Parameter panel - apply button

    Hi,
    I'm working on a .net desktop application, that uses CR embedded server as a reports engine.
    We just migrated from CRXIR2 embedded server  to CR2008 Embedded server in our new release.
    We want to use the new functionality of dynamic parameters in CR2008 in our application,
    In our client side, we wrapped the crystalreportviewer control and hid the navigation buttons and toolbars, and replaced them with our own. We also have our own parameter pannel.
    I  would like to hide the viewer's parameter panel in our client side, and add an "Apply" button to our custom parameter panel, that will apply the parameter values without refreshing the report. This is meant to keep the same look and feel with the previous version of our product.
    I found how to hide the parameter panel:
    this.reportViewer.MainCrystalViewer.ShowParameterPanelButton = false;\\MainCrystalViewer is crystalReportViewer object
    I didn't find any method that applyes the parameters.
    Please advise.
    Thanks
    Dana

    I think I found how to do it:
    public void ApplyParameters(Hashtable parameters)
                ReportDocument doc = ((ReportDocument) m_viewer.MainCrystalViewer.ReportSource);
                foreach (string param in parameters.Keys)
                        doc.SetParameterValue(param, parameters[param]);
                m_viewer.MainCrystalViewer.ReportSource = doc;
    Still testing this method.

  • Error refreshing report from parameter panel

    I'm using Crystal Reports 2008 SP3 with .Net 4.0 in visual studio 2010
    I'm using the following components
    CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine   12.0.2000.0
    CrystalDecisions.Enterprise.Framework   12.0.1000.0

    CrystalDecisions.Shared                           12.0.2000.0
    CrystalDecisions.Windows.Forms            12.0.2000.0
    I have embedded the ViewerComponent in a windows form, everything works fine, loading report, exporting, printing, refreshing.
    However, I need to allow the user to refresh the report by using the parameter panel, because once the report has been loaded, some parameters are not allowed to be changed by a user. So I try to accomplish this by using the parameter optional function and show in parameter panel (read only/ editable / Don't show)
    However, when I try to edit a parameter in the parameter panel, I get to see the regular refresh dialog (this isn't a big problem...) however, when I do not enter any values, or just a few parameters, or all parameters, the viewer crashes with the following error:

    However, your not really right about that. I have integrated the viewer component into a WindowsFormHost, so it will just operate like a normal Windows Forms applcation.
    However, I'm wondering what is causing the Exception. It is trying to cast a ParameterField, can I override this?

  • Crystal Reports 2008 parameter panel discrepancy.

    Hi,
    I have a report designed using Crystal Reports 2008. The report has a dynamic parameter called Location which is populated from a table. It is a Value - Description pair so it is:
    Value = LocID
    Descripition = LocationName.
    The Show on Viewer(Panel) attribute is set to Editable.
    The Prompt with Description Only attribute is set to true.
    In the Crystal Reports stand-alone Designer everything works fine. It prompts with the Description. After making a selection, the Parameter Panel shows the selected items(the Description, NOT the value) correctly. This is the desired behavior.
    But  when the report is viewed in the Crystal Reports Viewer that comes with .NET 2008 the Parameter panel shows the Value, which is LocID and not the description which is LocationName. This is NOT very useful.
    I have tried other third party Crystal Reports viewers as well. They all exhbit the same discrepancy.
    How can this be resolved?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Crystal Reports 2008 parameter panel

    Hello,
    I'm using Crystal Reports 2008 stand-alone application to design reports. I'm wondering is there a possibility to change information display on parameter panel?
    The problem is that I've created a parameter with option "prompt with description only" set to true. This parameter has value and description. When it's prompting for parameter everything goes fine, it prompts with description only, but in parameter panel it's only values (not descriptions) displayed. This is confusing for report users as the value is key (int type) and description is name (string that actually says something to user).
    Maybe there is something to be set in Crystal Reports Viewer component properties?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Gemi,
    I recommend to post this query to the [Crystal Reports Design|SAP Crystal Reports; forum.
    This forum is dedicated to topics related to the creation and design of Crystal Report documents. This includes topics such as database connectivity, parameters and parameter prompting, report formulas, record selection formulas, charting, sorting, grouping, totaling, printing, and exporting but also installation and registering.
    It is monitored by qualified technicians and you will get a faster response there.
    Also, all Crystal Reports Design queries remain in one place and thus can be easily searched in one place.

  • Photo Downloader advanced dialog not displayed completely

    Hello,
    I use PSE10 and would use this application during traveling on a laptop (Compaq Presario C700). The Adobe website shows as a requirement
    Color monitor with 16-bit color video card
    1024x576 display resolution
    The laptop I'm using fullfills these requirements, the maximal display resolution is 1280 x 800 pixel
    When I start the photo downloader to import images from my digital cameras memory card, the Elements Organizer Photo Downloader dialog appears as expected. Then I switch to Advanced Dialog to select only the required image files. But I can't download the images, as the buttons are not visilble, they are below the visible area of my display. The dialog has a size of 976 x 830 pixel (checked on a differenc computer) and can not be resized to a smaller hight. So the button "get media" can not be pressed to start the download.
    I checked for updates to see if I miss some bugfixes, but I'm told that no updates are available
    How can I use the Advanced Dialog of Photo Downloader from Photoshop Elements 10 to select the images I want to transfer to my computer?

  • How to combine the radio buttons in different panels

    Hello everyone.I have to have some form of panels, each of which I want to put a radio button. How to make sure that when you select one of the radio buttons, the second was not selected ? Now both are selected. For convenience, made a small example.
