Network Address Translation (NAT)
Does this mean it supports loopback?

What you are looking for is "NAT Loopback", most routers support this, apart from the home hub 3, which the makers have decided presents a security threat.

IPSec Certificate Authentication from Linux Strongswan client to Windows Advanced Firewall (2012)

Hi,
Has anybody had any success in getting a Linux Strongswan client (or Openswan) to connect to a win2012 Advanced Firewall using certificates and IPSec? My Security Connection Rule requires authentication both inbound and outbound. The cert is
installed correctly on the Linux box.
I can get a connection using pre-shared keys, but haven't been able to establish a Quick Mode session when using certs. I've tried (literally) hundreds of different configs without success. Event log shows either 'No Policy Configured' or 'Unknown
Authentication'.
Windows clients can connect correctly with certs. I've deliberately excluded details as the Linux config can be setup in so many different ways, i'd rather start by looking at someone elses config that works (if that actually exists).

How Do i disable ""enable advance Printing features on windows server 2008 ""

I have a windows server 2008 which is used as a terminal server . Users at remote locations log on to this server via "" DYNDNS"" to user our ERP and company files. We use ""DOT MATRIX PRINTERS "" to print . As we all know that ""enable advance
printing feature"" is checked by default on windows server 2008 the format of our ""DOT MATRIX PRINTOUTS "" CHANGE which creates a big mess.
I would like to know if there is any way where i can disable this feature permanently.

In previous operating systems, that setting was for designed for disabling and enabling GDI rendering on the server. Since you are using a TYPE 4 print driver, there is no GDI rendering and thus this setting is not configurable.
If you would like to change this setting, you will need to use a TYPE 3 print driver that does not use XPS rendering. Then the previous configuration methods you were using will work.

Enable HTTPS rule looks like this:

Problem is when I enable this rule "Disable ALL", nothing is passing firewall by this 3 rules for enabling protocols.
What could I be missing out?

It's a 3rd party app. You really should contact Adobe Support and/or post in the Adobe Forums

Use Software Update or the OS 10.6.8 combo update to update your OS. Also, update everything SU has to offer for your computer. When done, repair permissions and restart your computer.

Firewall feature set on router

We have a router connected to the internet with the firewall feature set on it. NAT is also being done (internet interface outside, LAN interface inside)
There is an ACL applied to the internet interface in an outbound direction blocking all RFC 1918 adddresses, but the the internal network (192.168.1.0) still gets out, is this because NAT occurs before the outbound access-list is processed?

What if someone horks up the vlan config accidentally or plugs something into the wrong port? Relying on that single layer for security is a bit risky, but that's just my opinion.
Do you use just VLAN isolation elsewhere in your perimeter as the sole network security control?
Out of curiousity, if it's open auth, how do you prevent company assets from connecting?

Deploying IOS firewall feature set

Hi All,
We are trying to deploy firewall feature in the 2811 router by suing the SDM 2.5. We choosed option for basic firewall setup. It required us to choose trusted and non-trusted interfaces and we did the same. It added access-list inbound on the trusted interface and ip inspect command on the un-trusetd interface.
Also,Intially we want to allow all traffic from untrusted-interface to the trusted interface,so we manually allowed permit ip any to inside network block ?---Is that right ?
We have another question,we would be having a another interface on that router to connect to a different network and preferrably doesn't want to configure that interface as trusted or non-trusted,in this scenario,if any traffic originated from non-defined interface will be able to access the trusted interface or also non-trusted interface ?
Any help would be really appreciated

Nature of statefull firewall that comes with IOS firewall feature set is, to block all traffic from an untrusted interface by default, then only allow the return traffic of connections, originated from a trusted interface (inspection). And you also can permit some traffic that you trust manually.

If the inspection rule is applied to oubound direction of untrusted interface, feel free to unset other interfaces as trusted.

Advanced Firewall-Automatically allow signed software...

For some reason I have an app I use often set up as Automatically Allow Signed Software To Receive Income Connections in my Advance Firewall settings of System Preferences. Yet, every time I use this software, it always asks me if I want to allow incoming connections? It never did this pre-10.6. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a Codesign issue. From terminal, type:
codesign -vvv /Applications/iTunes.app/
You should see:
/Applications/iTunes.app/: valid on disk
/Applications/iTunes.app/: satisfies its Designated Requirment
But if you see:
/Applications/iTunes.app/: a sealed resourse is missing or invalid
[lists reources]
You can either delete the offending resouces (risky) or try redownloading and reinstalling the latest iTunes.dmg from Apple. Try the reinstall first.

Nope.
The FWSM uses it's own OS based on PIX OS. While it uses SVIs configured in the MSFC, it otherwise runs autonomously from the Sup and MSFC, even in Native mode.

Bios Locks when going into "Advanced Chipset Features"

Hi, My bios locks up about 70% of the time when I try to go into the "Advanced Chipset Features" menu. I've tried clearing the Cmos, and still have it freeze most of the time. Every once in awhile It works, but its very rare. I havnt done any overclocking or anything. Anyone have any Ideas for me? System specs are in the sig.

Hey, thanks for the response. I used Arctic silver Compound as directed by their documentation. Processor temps are around 46 (c) degrees at idle in windows, so I kind of ruled out a heat problem. Am I overlooking somthing?

Unlocking advanced BIOS features on GT80

I am a very happy owner of the GT80, and so far everything works perfectly. I was made aware that you can unlock the advanced BIOS features of this machine, but I don't know how. I would like to try them and see what additional features can be tweaked.
Does anyone know how to unlock those features, like with my original MSI GX660R where you only had to hold Shift+CTRL+ALT+Insert ? hehehehe

Yes and no. Power consumption meters show that the GT80 with 4980HQ consumes around 326W total system power under load. That CPU can consume up to 80W on its own, while doing its own turbo. Intel 4720HQ can consume near 60W under same turbo conditions.
Obviously the system can take it, as it can hold this for about a minute until intel self regulates to the TDP of 47W. If we could adjust this to the same values the CPU already consume, like 60W, we could significantly improve long term performance.
If you overclock the GPU's though, that will surely consume more power. But at its current 330W psu, we have alot of headroom for the system to operate how it should without problems.
I wish we could set the TDP at 60W for the CPU. IT is quite limited right now when doing intensive tasks, often power throttling (not due to thermals but 47W tdp) and reducing its speed to 3Ghz, or even lower depending on the load. At 60W, we could maintain 3.6Ghz indefinitely.
Due to the low 47W TDP, there is hardly a difference in performance between any of the core i7 HQ processors, after 1 min of operation at full load.

Search and find 'open' threads: request of advanced search features

Hello,
time is passing by quickly... Hence it happens that some threads I have started with a question / problem are still open, waiting for some further investigation etc.
However, after a few days the post has disappeared from the first forum page - and soon thereafter from my memory. All I remember is that there were a few open threads
So here is my question / suggestion for the forum: A feature to list all threads I have started but not marked as solved would be quite handy in such cases... Phrased differently, I'd like to have an advanced search capability where one can not only search for a given word, but also for certain metadata such as author, solved/unsolved, etc.
