Advanced internal Memory Upgrade

Hey everybody,
I recently cracked open my ancient Clamshell and noticed something fishy underneath the logic board. There appears to be 4 empty areas for additional RAM chips. I am very experienced with soldering and so I was wondering if it would be possible to add additional internal memory. No "why" answers please. This is just a project computer, so It is expendable.

I have never noticed that, huh, dunno if it'll work but that would be awesome to have a clamshell with 1GB of ram... now all we need to find out is how to smack a G4 in there and we would be good to go! If this is just a test computer then go for it, i mean you can always undo this? so Good Luck! Report back if it is successful, i would so do this!!

  • Memory Upgrade for T61

    Hi friends,
I have a T61 7663-xxx system, with 1 GB PC2-5300 667 MHz RAM. My Front Side Bus is 800 MHz ( I think so!), Everest software reports my memory controller is dual channel capable, and ~ 85% physical utilization of RAM. I have a nVidia Quadro NVS 140M 128 MB graphics card, but Everest reports 512 MB ?
I would like to upgrade my RAM, and buy some online.
    a) Should I buy a similar 2 GB PC2-5300 RAM for my system for performance boost, running Windows XP 32 bit? If so, should I buy Lenovo RAM only, for maintaining my 3 year warranty intact?
Only ThinkPad and Lenovo memory will assume ThinkPad and Lenovo notebook systems limited warranty
    b) What are the other best alternatives for good quality, reliable laptop memory,  besides Lenovo?
    c) Would it be better if I am able to buy RAM which can match my FSB? Will this have any performance benefit? Do these similar FSB speed RAM exist?
Kindly suggest top memory makers, if any.
I could not find any Lenovo 800 MHz memory from their website.
Kindly help me solve my memory upgrade problem.
I am a mechanical engineering student, hence I don't have any idea about FSB and the like, so I request the learned members to cast light on this area.
Info about reputed online sites in US, with fast delivery will be very much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Hmm.  As far as I know, the internal graphics card can't be upgraded.  There's some dock you can buy that lets you add a graphics card for use with an external monitor, but I don't know much about it.  The cpu is more likely to be upgradeable, but don't attempt unless you know a decent amount about hardware servicing.  Also, make sure the cpu will be supported by the motherboard!  Best not to buy one with a clockspeed higher than what Lenovo sold (core 2 duo at 2.6 ghz).
Why do you want to upgrade so much?  I run 2.1ghz with discrete graphics and 2gb ram under Vista, and it runs beautifully.  If you have integrated graphics, then that might be a bit of a pain, but hey, you've got better battery life!
Anyway, I'd look more into de-cluttering your computer to speed stuff up.  Remove anything you don't need, especially Lenovo tools that run in the background and you may not need.  Turn off search indexing (slower searches, but faster overall performance).  There are some nice guides online, if you google "vista tuneup."
Good luck!  Enjoy your T61 as it is!  It's a lovely laptop

  • Memory upgrade on Satellite A60-218

    Hi,
Is it possible to upgrade the memory for the Satellite A60-218 models?
I've heard that the memory is onboard (internal) and cannot be replaced. Is this true?
If not, could somebody give me a hint where can I find the memory modules on this model?
I have tried disassembling it without success.
    Thanks!
    Levente

    Hello
Just for info: Satellite A60 has 512 MB internal memory and one sot only is available for upgrade. This unit can handle with max 1,5 GB of RAM. On the bottom side in the middle there is placed memory module cover. Remove it and you will find RAM slot.
For RAM upgrade you can use follow compatible memory modules:
    PC2700 512MB (PA3312U-1M51)
    PC2700 1024MB (PA3313U-1M1G)
If you have more questions please write again.
    Bye and good luck!

  • Memory upgrade fail - Kernel panic after put old memories back

I People, this is my first post here and unfortunately is to report a problem, not to help friends.
I did an memory upgrade last weekend. After this, he will not boot normally, only in safe mode.
I discovered that they sent me 1333Mhz memories, and my mac (mid 2009) supports only 1066Mhz.
I put the old memories again, however I believe that the system did not recognize.
As you can see below, the system recognizes two modules:
    Memory Module: BANK 0/DIMM0, 4 GB, DDR3, 1067 MHz, 0x80CE, 0x4D34373142353237334448302D4348392020
    Memory Module: BANK 1/DIMM0, 4 GB, DDR3, 1067 MHz, 0x80CE, 0x4D34373142353637334648302D4346382020
    It is not true, I' using now 2 x 2GB, DDR3, 1067 Mhz (stock)
I tried to reinstall the system, but when I try, I got crash again.
how can I solve this issue?

    Hi BGreg,
I already reset the PRAM as you said.
I've cleaned the memory modules as indicated by Linc above.
Today I formatted my harddrive to try a clean install, but system crashs after 5%, 10%.
There is something making me worried:
In one of my tries, I opened the system view to check my actual hardware configuration, and to my surprise, the system shows me 8GB installed. Cannot be. I have 2 x 2GB.
Where my system stores this information? There is a way to reset it? I tried last hour install the snow leopard, that cames with my mac, by DVD, but does not worked too.
    Thank you all so far.

  • Memory upgrade

    Hi,
    Can I install 2 x Crucial 4GB DDR3 - 1333 SODIMM 1.35V 204 PIN - CT51264BF1339J on a Macbook Pro 13 inch late 2011?
Currently, I have 4 GB (2 x 2 GB) and I want to upgrade to 8 GB. There is a controversial info regarding this particular memory module, some people say it is not compatible.
When I look to the specs I find:
204 PIN form factor = OK
    1,35 V = OK
    DDR3 = OK
    1333 = OK
    SODIMM = OK
    Max 8GB = OK (2 x 4GB)
Latency= 9 cicles (same that stock modules supplied with the laptop) OK
The thing is Crucial, sell an identical specs module that costs quite more. They claim it to be compatible with Mac. The also sell this one I mentioned as being not compatible. The funny thing is that specs for both are identical. I only find a difference on the pricing. So I am really confused.
Do they one to sell me a more expensive one like being specific for Mac or there is a hiden specification that makes the two modules to differ from each other?
Can somebody confirm this info to me, please?
    Many thanks in advance
    Best Regards

    News on this subject:
A Crucial support representative replied saying:
"Mac compatible memory is guaranteed to work in your specific system.  There may be subtle differences in non specific memory that will cause it not to work for you such as chip solution and the configurations of chips..."
Well, I find it very ambiguous technically speaking. If they sell good quality memory as they claim, I do not see which subtle differences will affect the functionality. The chip configuration is standard and chip solution is about quality. So Crucial should be all right as everyone claims (even if manufactured in China)
So I went a head and both 2 x CT51264BF1339J for a very reasonable Belgian price and installed it into my system just two minutes ago. I am writing this using the mentioned system.
I was on Google after 30 seconds of taping the On button. Although it did not changed a lot as this startup timing is more related to the Hybrid 750GB HDD (SSD + Conventional Drive) I upgraded few months ago.
I upgraded the memory to run Virtual Box and Parallel desktop more easily though it worked quite good with 4GB. I did not upgraded to 16GB because it is not necessary on my usage. Only one virtual machine at once + E-mail + Browser + some PDF opened. Some technical stuff and nothing like Photoshop or similar. Thus the huge money difference would have gone for nothing if I buy the specific Mac modules of 8GB each as "Crucial Memory Upgrade Tool" subjected me.

  • Memory upgrade on Satellite Pro A40

Can anyone please advise where is the best place I can get a memory upgrade for my Satellite Pro A40 laptop.
I think my machine is a PC2700 DDR. I am looking for either 512mb or 1gb.
    Thanks in advance.
    Christine

    Hi
On the Satellite Pro A40 you will find 2 memory slots and you can upgrade the memory to max 2GB (2x1024MB)
It should be possible to use these modules:
    PC2100 512MB (PA3164U-1M51)
    PC2100 1GB (PA3278U-1M1G)
    And
    PC2700 512MB (PA3312U-1M51)
    PC2700 1024MB (PA3313U-1M1G
I purchase the compatible parts and devices always form the Toshiba service partner in my country because so I'm 100% sure that this parts are compatible.
So I would recommend you also to buy the modules form the ASP in your country.

  • Copying images from internal memory

Hi all, i have what may be a silly question but i've been trying to solve this of a few days without success.
Some of the apps i use on my phone save pictures to the internal memory instead of the SD memory, i want to access the pictures in the internal memory to copy them on my PC.
Both Image Capture on my mac and Sony Bridge allow me to copy pictures and videos from the SD but not from the internal memory.
The SD can also be mounted as an external device and files copied.
I couldn't find a way to see pictures and movies stored on the internal memory.
Sony Bridge has an option that should let you choose between SD Card and Internal Storage when a device has both but, even if i set it to use the internal memory it only shows the SD Card.
I tried copying the files from the internal memory directory to the SD with File Manager but it didn't work.
I could sync everything via DropBox or Google Drive but it's definitely a suboptimal solution and i would avoid it.
Is there a way to copy pictures and movies from the internal memory?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Marcello

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
This depends on the app itself, how it's coded/written to save the files and where to save them. If you are unable to move them via a file manager, it sounds like the folder is write protected.

  • Is my computer crashing due to memory upgrade?

I recently installed some new memory on my iMac and it has begun crashing pretty regularly since then.
At first I only installed one additional 4GB module because I didn't know they were supposed to installed in pairs (and didn't do enough research). Pretty soon my computer started crashing perhaps every 10 or 20 minutes. More specifically it would go to a gray screen saying it needed to shut down because of a problem. Sometimes it would start back up fully, other times it would stop in the middle of booting up and show a bunch of scary-looking code involving the phrase 'kernel panic', and I would have to manually shut it off.
After a few days of this I contacted Other World Computing, who sold me the memory, and found out about needing to install in pairs. I removed the module and ordered a second one (the rep verified I had the right one for my system and that the second one would be the same). At this point the issue went away completely.
After installing 2 X 4GB memory modules, everything seemed to be okay for a day or two, but then the same thing started happening again, though not as often as before, perhaps once every other day or so.
It's been a few weeks now and it seems like the crashes are becoming more frequent, maybe half a dozen times in the last two days, often happening only minutes after startup.
    Other miscellaneous observations:
One thing I've noticed is that every time in the last two days it has happened Chrome has been running. This morning I decided to switch to Safari for a while, and I've actually not experienced a crash since then. Could be a coincidence.
I don't know why this would be relevant, but I installed a password manager (LastPass) a few days ago, shortly before the crashes starting becoming really frequent. That's the only significant (if you could call it that) change I've made to my computer recently, but the fact that it interacts directly with Chrome does raise an eyebrow.
I should maybe add that when I downloaded LastPass I actually did so using Chrome on a different computer, and it was a PC at that, running Windows 8.1. The next time I opened Chrome on my iMac it automatically installed the extension, as it does.
Also, the only programs I usually have open when the crashes occur, besides Chrome, are Sibelius (music notation software) and Excel, which I've used for many years with no problems. Sometimes the crashes occur while I'm working in one of these programs, but other times they happen while the computer is totally idle. Aside from these I typically have some automated processes running such as Time Machine, Boinc and F.lux, which I also have used for quite some time.
    My specs:
    OS X 10.10.1
    iMac 27-inch Late 2009
3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory 12 GB 1067 MHz DDr3 (two 2 GB it came with plus the two 4 GB ones I installed from OWC)
    Google Chrome v. 40.0.2214.111
    LastPass v. 3.1.50
The PC I initially downloaded LastPass on is an Acer Aspire SW5-012 running Windows 8.1
Great thanks in advance for any advice in fixing this issue!

So I ran Memtest on a few different configurations of my modules and got some interesting results. Testing just the two original modules my iMac came with returned the message "All tests passed!", while testing all four modules together returned several "FAILURE!" messages. Similarly, testing just the two OWC modules by themselves also returned several error messages. I even did a PRAM reset as OWC suggested to me, but the test still failed. Full reports are below.
In the process of removing the modules I noticed that the two OWC modules appear physically different from each other. One of them looks like the two original modules, in that it has eight of what I'm sure the technical term is "those lil' black box thingies," () while the other one has only four, bigger ones. As a layperson I have no idea if this is significant, but certainly seems noteworthy to me. I will say that when I initially contacted OWC after buying the first module, I asked them to confirm it was the correct one for my computer and to give me a direct link to order another (as the first module was a gift, I had trouble finding the exact page on their site).
    Here's what they look like:

  • Memory Upgrade and How do I add Bluetooth to S10-3

    Hi,
Newbie here, just got my S10-3 last week and love it.  I have upgrade to Windows 7 Pro and would like to increase the memory and add internal Bluetooth if possible.  What type of memory card do I need to go to 2M?  Lowest cost and brand/model number would be great information if you can provide it.  Do you think it's possible to add Bluetooth internally?  I know I can add using USB external, but would really like to keep it internal and keep all three USB ports free for other devices.
    Thanks Much!!!
    Solved!

    Hi ssedqwick you solved Bluetooth?
    Thx
    EMERSON VIER
No, I have not.  I think there is a connector for USB in the motherboard, but don't know for sure.  Someone that works on the S10-3 will know the answer, so just have to wait and see if that person shows up.

  • Satellite A100 shuts down after memory upgrade

Consider me as 1 of the thickie bunch.. Not even sure wot im talkin bout but here goes n e way...........
    Have a Satellite A100 570 ( PSAA2E)..........
Have tried several different online sites lookin for memory upgrade. Didn't have the witt to use toshiba site...... Ended up going with Crucial.........
Ran diagnostic on laptop and was sent the module a needed.or so i thought....... wrong 1 or 1s as i bought 2 x 1G modules in order to " double up".....
Got my money back as they were not compatable with my system.. something to do with density problems....
Tried company called OFFTEK........ they seemed to know what they were talkin about....... I have from Offtek. at present a..........
200 Pin 1.8v DDR2 PC2-4200 SoDimm....... but Toshiba have recommended below......
    1GB PC2-4300 DDR2 Memory (533MHz)
    Part Number: PA3411U-2M1G
    1024MB (1GB) Memory PC2-4300 DDR2 (533MHz)
Theres an obvious difference ...... 4200 and 4300. But im not sure if its a significant difference........... or what it means
Have updated bios to most recent version and basically updated everything toshiba had to offer for this model...........
Ran EVEREST and it recognises the 1G module but when i take out the original 512mb module the laptop starts for about 3 seconds then shuts down...
this repeats about 5 times then complete shutdown.....
I dont like opening the back cover too often but this is the 3rd module ....
Not sure whats meant to happen if the module is working...i.e start up message..not sure if windows recognises 1G module....
Would it be safer bet to send Offtek module and stick with toshiba option.....
    Thanks in advance.....

Cheers R2........ suppose at this stage i could start rhyming off a load of star wars lines but uve probably hears them all before.......
N e way......... checked out the link u posted..........very useful......
The module described is identical to what i have.............As with previous reply ( above ) im not sure what to do.........might take up Offteks offer of replacing the module but slightly concerned it might have same outcome......Still not happy bout opening the cover so much........nut needs must i suppose

  • N79 - Why so little internal memory

My perfect phone - will even forgive dual LED rather than Xenon - OTHER THAN 50Mb internal memory. Less than 90mb on N Series last seen I believe 18 months ago in the N77.
Why the backwards step - has memory become expensive all of a sudden?
Running 6220 Classic (not even N series) with 100Mb. Mail for Exchange consuming 49Mb -MfE must be installed to device memory -so there's no way I'll be able to upgrade and enjoy the benefit of a much improved build quality - 6220 is not good in this department.
Completely perplexed why a "smartphone" in Q4 2008 would be pushed out into the market in this condition.
Can't believe reduced cost and/or reduced size argument can be significant enough to justify Nokia's bizarre decision. I'm therefore inclined to believe that it's as much about slicing their N series customer base into distinct segments so as to maximise the sales in each segment. Nothing wrong with that as such but I'm personally not inclined to trade up to the N85 (do not want a slider) to tick the one box which in my opinion is missing. I reckon the loss of ex WinMo Exchange Server users will likely cancel out those who do decide to trade up.

Was informed by Nokia Online Sales that listed for France and Low Countries in November so assume UK will arrive about same time.

  • Internal memory error during SQL generation. (QP0002)

    Post Author: Rajesh Kumar
    CA Forum: WebIntelligence Reporting
    Hi,
I developed one Report in BO 5.1 version (Report size à 13 MB) and I Migrated this Report to BO XIR2,
After I Migrated this Report to BO XI R2 this Report was worked perfectly in DESKI & also in WEBI
But now for the past few Days (nearly 1 week) this Report is not working in WEBI, but itu2019s perfectly working in DESKI. In WEBI itu2019s showing error message à u201CInternal memory error during SQL generation. (QP0002)u201D
Iu2019m having one PDF documentation for BO Error Messages Listing, in that Documentation I have found the below à
Internal memory error during SQL generation. (QP0002)
Cause This error occurs when there is no longer enough memory to generate the SQL.
Action You should close other applications and then rerun the query.
    I tried this alsou2026.
I closed all other applications and I Refreshed this Report, but again the same error is coming in WEBI
Report is working in DESKI but itu2019s not working in WEBI, I donu2019t know how to rectify this problem
Can anyone help me in this to rectify.. please
    Thanks in advance
    Rajesh Kumar

    Hi,
I investigated further and if the previous solution doesn't help you to resolve the issue please test the below mentioned solution.
When several contexts are possible for a query, the system tests if they produce the same set of tables. If they are identical, it is not necessary to prompt the user. It is the default behavior. But for some particular universes, the designer defines different contexts with the same tables, but with a different set of joins. This will compare the context with the joins. When this happens, InfoView fails with this error.
    Resolution
    1. Import the universe.
    2. Modify the following parameter:
    COMPARE_CONTEXTS_WITH_JOINS = No
    3. Export the universe.
    4. Open the Desktop Intelligence report in InfoView and refresh it.
    It will refresh successfully

  • Media Sync cannot access photos in internal memory of Pearl 8110

    Hey,
I was wondering if anyone else ran into this difficulty ... I just updated the Blackberry Desktop Software, and thank goodness it's stopped using Roxio bloatware to transfer my photos off of my phone (Pearl 8110). Unfortunately, the new MediaSync doesn't sync with the internal memory of my phone, so it appears that my photos are stranded for the moment. I was wondering if anyone else had run into this problem, and what solution you would recommend. I looked through the technical support docs, and I don't think I found anything that fits this.
    1) Do I have to find an older version of the Blackberry Desktop software, transfer the photos, then upgrade again to the newest version with Media Sync and purchase a microSD card?
    2) If I purchased a microSD card and installed it, would directing the camera to store on the microSD card automatically move over the photos I've already taken?
    Thanks a bunch,
    Carmine

    Hi carmine_dichiara:
We currently can’t pull pictures from the internal memory of a 8110.
If you get a microSD card and save the pictures to that location, it will work properly.
(It won’t automatically move already taken pictures to the microSD card)
